$50 Lee-Enfield Rifles 📦 Milsurp Unboxing (Century Arms) DP No.1 Enfield Ishapore Military Surplus

  • I've been singing the praises of Ishapore DP No.1 Mk.3 Lee-Enfield rifles for years. These fantastic parts guns have never been this cheap, though. Unlike your standard military surplus SMLE, these drill purpose firearms have been demilled, meaning they are non-functioning. However, that doesn't mean they are useless. Let's unbox these 5 milsurps and see what kind of condition you can expect from this batch. I'll be doing Enfield restorations for years to come with these guys.

    Just take into consideration, these are rifles that Numruch Gun Parts & Sarco declined to buy for $15 each because the labor involved made them unprofitable to sell as parts. Ishapore wood does not bring premium prices either.
    But if you need parts for rifles you already have, it's the cheapest way to get them. 🤠

      @gunsforevery1 8 місяців тому +4

      Numrich probably also didn’t want to have to deal with putting drill rifles on their books that they were then either going to have to destroy or sell.

    Took a couple DP's like those and ground out the plugs, a simple spot weld on one side is all that holds them in. Then I sleeved them for 22 long rifle, welded up the receiver ring and made fantastic plinkers. Since the firing pins are cut, all you have to do is cut them down to the right length as original .22 SMLE trainers and put an SMLE .22 bolt head on and head space it. I even used the empty magazines to catch the .22 casings. Since Enfields have skyrocketed in the last couple years I developed a method to repair the receiver ring and if it has a mint bore (most do, not sure why a lot of these were DP'd unless deemed simply obsolete. Even the actions were great) weld up the chamber holes and sleeve it and make shooters out of them again. Of course the actions need fully checked, headspaced to make sure there's no micro cracks, stretching or anything preventing proper headspace especially along the shoulder locking surface. I have access to a gun repair shop so it was easy for me.
    On that note BRP is selling SMLE barreled receivers that have the chambers drilled but not the receivers in blocks of 4 or 5 for cheap. You could use these DP's and those receivers...

    Fellow Georgian here. After watching one of your Ishapore Drill Purpose videos I took inspiration and bought one of these things to refurb a 1917 No.1 MKIII* that had been sporterized. You are spot on about these things being a spare parts bonanza. The wood on the one I got was in surprisingly good shape and none of the metal or wood parts were stamped "DP" except for underneath the nose cap. I left the red and white stripes on there as well as the small rack number on the stock. Thanks for doing these vids.

    I ended up buying 3 after seeing this (I didn't want to gamble with 5) I got a lot of functional smle barreled-receivers (smooth bore) that I bough for 40 bucks back from Century which will need stocks. Century is such hit and miss when you don't know what you're getting. But I had such a pleasure collecting Milsurps from them for almost 2 decades now. Most of my collection were from Century.
    My most fav collection I purchased from them was a 1939 Luger, 1877 colt lightning, my 1890 Ottoman Empire Mauser (still in 7.65×53mm Mauser), and my 1917 Lithgow SMLE.

    Back when Century was importing tens or hundreds of thousands of Mosin Nagants they would sell off the ones with issues for $20. They were called “u-fixems”. I bought many and still have some. Sometimes they were trash and sometime it was a cracked or missing handguard or front sight, etc. always worth the $20 in parts.
