I went with a rifle speed system based off your video. Awesome gas block. Went on my 308 noveske 16” barrel with a 14.5 zev handguard. Runs flawlessly.
Ya, the Riflespeed gas block is pretty sweet, but getting a hand guard to work can be a real struggle. It sits taller the normal low pro blocks, so not all handguards will slip over it. And if it does, make sure there is enough room that the barrel stays free floating during firing.
This is why you make sure to always coat the set screw in high temperature anti seize and you periodically run the screw forwards and backwards to clear out any carbon
@@kilroy5166 Easier said than done. Not everyone wants a pricey Riflespeed that weighs 4x a standard gas block. The detent based ones like Superlative arms work really well, and as he said, are generally a set and forget, but yeah, periodically using the screw to ensure it doesn’t get locked up is good practice.
I got the same kak barrel and went with a centurion two peace quad rail handguard. Now my other 16" rifle length gas barrel I got an FN 18" had my gunsmith open up the gas port, cut and thread the barrel to 16" and attached the rest of the hardware to include triangle handguard. I used the H&R upper and lower receivers from PSA. It's my favorite AR to use for pretty much everything now.
I built a 16" rifle gas competition gun with a Criterion Hybrid barrel and I've been super happy with the results. I'm not even sure the Riflespeed was even a thing a couple of years go when I built the gun so I used the SLR and setup the gun to run on a fairly hot .223 load when dirty.
Have a midwest industries quad on my 16”’carbine. Love it, stiff not to heavy and no screwing with adapters and crap contacting my barrel and such. Just stick it on and done. They dehorn/deburr it too so unlike the KAC quad I had in Iraq, it doesn’t chew up your clothes and hands.

They aren't horrible, but definitely not what you really want these days given what we and the military now know about what the most reliable and functional gas lengths are.
Love the vid, I enjoy these build type videos. I am currently working on a 20” AR-RPK upper that has been in my mind for two years now. Going to use this this gas block, with a DD mlok handguard, and a 20” criterion HBAR. I want it to be accurate and absorb heat well. No joke about their barrels never being in stock, mine is on back order.
I have a 11.5" midlength faxon which is definitely in the dissipator category. I use fixed gas on it because like hop i dont like adj gas blocks. While I am sure it recoils more than a tuned gun would, with an H3 and sprinco red it still has considerably less recoil than my 10.5" carbine gas gun, and it will still work with cheap .223 reman loads. In fact it has never failed to function in any way, in temps from about 0f well into the high 90s. Also, hello Hop.
Great video! I love my RS block. Put it on my AR-10 and AR15 ... both suppressed. Was difficult to figure out which plunger was better for the 15 but after using the second plunger provided in the box... runs clean. 3pm ejection pattern.
I've had one of these on a shorty .300 blk I built for a bit over a year at this point. I was really impressed, my goal was to make a super light gun that works reliably both suppressed and unsupressed, I was very close to accomplishing this. With super sonic .300blk it works great both suppressed and unsuppressed, with subsonics though it has occasional hickups when unsupressed.
Do you really need to cycle subs unsuppressed though? The entire point of subs is shooting suppressed. With 300 BLK, I'd rather have a short barrel with pistol length gas system with a non-gaped gas port that can cycle subs suppressed but also isn't terribly over-gassed when shooting supers suppressed, with a standard gas block.
@@AncientGloom nope, I sure don't and that's why I'm not too worried that it has occasional hickups shooting subs unsupressed. I really just used that as a measure of reliability with varying .300 blk loads aince even with supersonic .300 blk there are guns that are picky with ammo unsupressed. It's also really very pleasant to shoot even with supers supressed at least in comparison to something like a mk18.
Yea, my only two suppressed rifles are a 12.5" & 16" LWRC piston rifles and both suppress wonderfully..... My LWRC IC DI on the other hand refuses to run suppressed.
So glad you got one of these. Been running one on a suppressed 300 BLK for awhile and it’s just fun. Only issue I’ve had is freezing up the plunger due to the pistol length gas system. Lubing it up once a while takes care of that issue. From 300 supers to subs to with or without suppressor it fits my build perfectly.
Should be noted I have a larger gas port drilled out so that’s where some more issues come from but allows me to get that full range. Works for me 🤷🏻♀️

I should probably just watch more of your videos for the answer but, I’ve got an iwi Zion 15 tac 12. It is a 12.5” 5.56 with midlength gas system. It comes stock with carbine coil and 4oz buffer. With just pmc xtac 55g m193 ammo….its quite strongly gassed. So much so in fact, that I’ve already added a red/white, springco cryo treated and an rb5000 kynshot…and it now shoots very nicely. I’ve ordered the tubbs 36 coil flatty, waiting for it to arrive to try out as my ocl polonium (full size, full bp!). I’ve also got an SA agb. I’m waiting for the can to be approved before I install the 6315rf and SA block….as I have another 16” complete upper, with a 3P15, and an Ecco machine adapter for the polo. My question is for the 16” gas block (also midlength gas)…is the Riflespeed system worth the $199? When I can get the SA block for $79? Or even a wojtek for $65? The riflespeed would look really cool. But $120++ for an agb should be remarkable.
Adjusting the SA is pretty annoying and adjusting the Wojtek is even worse. So it depends on how much tuning you want to do and if you want to shoot both with and without the suppressor.
I just picked up a compass lake engineering 12.5 mid barrel, believe it’s a .750 gas port. Had to dump all the weights out of a carbine buffer to get it to run at the range.
I like the SL MI handguard so this is a bonus. Very interesting review of a Dissy and this Riflespeed GB. Wish you would have shown how it was attached to barrel. Set screws, pinned, cross bolts??
I only watch these to see the fur baby. Also working on a pencil barrel 20 in light weight build and would like to have a qd can set up so thinking about this adjustable gas block but the 17in rail makes it a stretch to access with an Allen key. Would love to see it with that longer quick adjust clicker. *air biscuits paws*
I don’t know if this helps you or not but on one of my rifles I filed down the length of the screws so I could use an M lock slot close to my gas block to mount a bipod.

I have a 8.5" .300 Blk with the Riflespeed. I really like it.
do you switch ammo a lot?
Awesome video. Thank you! 🤙🪖👮🙏🇺🇲
Any commentary on effects / settings for “flow through”-style cans like the Huxwrx Flow556?
Probably almost entirely unnecessary if you have a flow through/low back pressure can. Still a good option for the gajillion "legacy" cans out there.
@@Hoplopfheil thanks, this was my understanding but just wanted some reassurance. I appreciate it Big Guy bless up👌
I just picked up a compass lake engineering 12.5 mid barrel, believe it’s a .750 gas port.
Set screws, dimpled barrel. You can cross pin them but I have never bothered with the RS.
Looking forward to the Garand dissipator videos!
That’s a lot of dissipation
I have a Delton Dissy upper with(non-adjustable) rifle length gas. They redid the gas ports at the factory, and I've never had an issue with it.
@@Allenmar73Nope, I slapped it onto a KE Arms lower and its worked 100%
I shall refer to all my AK shorties as combloc dissipators.
I used the rainier 16" dissy barrel, a2 front post and a brt tube. A2 rifle stock and buffer and even with a turbo t2 its still a good shooter.
Hop, your videos could never be too long.
This a sick setup. Great content!
the handrail debacle has made me real thankful the handguard that came on my shitter is mlok with pic rails at the very far end
I don’t know if this helps you or not but on one of my rifles I filed down the length of the screws so I could use an M lock slot close to my gas block to mount a bipod.
Hop: interrupts himself with a transition saying that the video is long and that instance had too much explanation.
Me: was just watching that part genuinely
I like the preamble!
This video makes me think you wash your hands like Leo in the Aviator." It's the way of the future."
Thanks Hop great info!!
I had to use one of the BRT gas tubes on a 16" faxon gunner barrel and it worked well, for how long, we'll see.. i live that barrel accept for the oversized gas port.
I'm Running a POF Adjustable Gas Block on A 18" 1 in 12" twist Barrel, and it Also Had The Problem of Being WAY Over Gassed ( along with the JP Silent Buffer / Recoil System ) @ first I Was Running The Standard Gas System And It Felt Like The Rifle Was Going to Brake in Half. Now It's As Smooth as Can Be.
I'm Still Sorry about hearing You're James's brother.
I love my a2 dissipator. I have another dissi barrel though that I may run this way
