That's just his choice. Listen to great composers play their own pieces. A good example is Rachmaninoff plays Rachmaninoff. He's constantly adding flourishes and embellishments. It's a choice.
Sorry to be off topic but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot the login password. I love any tips you can give me
@Quentin Tucker I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
When I was 12 and we used to play our old fucking Nintendo games, when we won we'd applaud the name Koji Kondo. Why? Because his name came up on the 'composer' credit.
Damn it this song always makes me tear up. Perhaps I am reminded of my youth and the innocence that went with it...Zelda will forever live in my heart.
just to kind of stand up for what a great band imagine dragons is, I'd like to point out that these guys have mentioned their dedication to video games like Zelda. They even did some music for League of Legends a while back because they were such big fans of the game. They've mentioned that they make an internet connection a priority when they tour just so they can play. These guys have a lot of respect for people like Koji and I'm sure they were floored to get to perform with him.
I owe so much to Mr. Kondo. These games and songs are the soundtrack to a verry happy time in my life, and also got me through hard times. Basically, they touched my life in more ways than I can really quantify. Thanks for the music, it will have an impact on me forever!
I read the title twice. onece by clicking, second time because i didnt believe it. Koji Kondo Performs... okay always nice. Legend of Zelda Medley... okay, awesome. with Imagine Dragons... Oh, i love them. Wait. That belongs into the same sentence? *literally chills*
Years later, this song still hits home...Got goosebumps as this took me back to my youth of playing all the Zelda games from Nintendo and up. Thanks for the memories!
I’m crying this is amazing I love the Zelda music AH BEAUTIFUL Koji Kondo we love you, your so talented and you have created beautiful music for everyone💜💜🍄🍄 created a legacy
I like them both, Mr. Kondo is a hero for the whole game music Industry, unreachable. Imagine Dragons makes modern pop music without hate, fear, sex and drugs, for that my respect.
So Koji Kondo is not a great pianist, but that doesn’t really matter, because he is an amazing composer. And to think that he single handedly composed all the music on the various video game projects he worked on from 1983-1994. The mere size of his discography is also very impressive.
I'm pretty sure these guys grew up listening to koji's songs when playing videogames I imagine their excitement playing right beside him I'd miss every note
I hate Imagine Dragons, but respect. Now Koji Kondo is an absolute Legend. Also hearing the A Link to The Past version of the theme always brings tears, but with him actually playing it is something else
I don't, people express their emotions when music touches them. I hate people that sit there and expect everybody to not burst with excitement. Kind of like an old hag shooshing a kid in church...STFU
No, I understand what you are saying but this is not always the case. In some cases, people just say it for attention. Like, look at me I know this song.
I went "whoo" at a Jack Johnson concert once & a guy gave me a free beer & a few hits off his vape pen with hash oil in it 👍 The benefits of "whooping" can be great
+bevrosity I don't like the band, but there's a few shots where you can see the singer's face and you can tell he's aware that this is coolest fucking thing he's down. He has this huge smile on his face when Kondo starts playing the main theme. I can appreciate that.
Imagine Dragons are huge gamers, they also played in League of Legends World Championship event to tens of millions of viewers. I'm not a fan of them at all, but I think it's cool they're involved in the gaming community. What I don't get is why they performed an Imagine Dragons song and not a Zelda composition together.
He hasn’t composed any significant amount of Zelda music since Majora’s Mask. Even with subsequent titles like Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Spirit Tracks, and Skyward Sword, he only composed one or two tunes. Want the answer to your question? Just play any Zelda game after Majora’s Mask.
I liked this, but it seems awkward and tacked together at last minute the way they kept switching between Kondo and the band playing. At times it looked like both parties were enjoying playing with each other, especially Imagine Dragon's singer looking like he was about to burst when Kondo started playing the Song of Healing. Overall, I wish this was more melded together and polished.
After completing ocarina of time, I merely played the game again just to listen to key songs in the various temples. I remember my brother just to go "buy the soundtrack"
just imagine being in the same room as koji kondo. it's breathtaking, even in my mind
Having koji kondo perform with you is a privilege! lol
Imagine Koji
He’s just a person, like you or me
@@shutup7623 no he's human like you and me. but he is a special person.
@@shutup7623 A person who made alot of our childhoods memorable
Notice how there's no personalized flair on the melody. *Because it's already his song.*
Nick Cortez this is so true!
That's just his choice. Listen to great composers play their own pieces. A good example is Rachmaninoff plays Rachmaninoff. He's constantly adding flourishes and embellishments. It's a choice.

*Manager:* Are you okay with doing a performance with Imagine Dragons?
*Koji:* With who?
he should have said no.

@Quentin Tucker It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my ass :D
@Armando Cassius Glad I could help xD
Video games honestly would be nothing without music. It brings them to a whole different level.
+Nintenkid91 sadly what the modern games lack these days
+SamuraiTacos modern games have music too...
yeah but it feels like a movie
+SamuraiTacos What do you mean by that?
its no longer like great 16 bit or 8 bit music it just sounds so modern like it feels like games for music are composed for like movies etc
when he played Song of healing :,( truly beautiful piece of work
They're lucky to be sharing the same space as Koji. His music is timeless. It'll be remembered long after I pass. Long after we all pass.
Koji is the reason i like music!! No doubt in my mind, he opened up a whole world for me as a kid
Honestly, same.
Same. I didn't have much interest in music, until I starting playing video games, specifically Ocarina of time.
Did anyone else get chills the second the Song of Healing started playing?
I love imagine dragons but man nobody wanted to hear them perform we just wanted to hear Koji Kondo
Lol, got'em. True tho.
When I was 12 and we used to play our old fucking Nintendo games, when we won we'd applaud the name Koji Kondo. Why? Because his name came up on the 'composer' credit.
fuck yeah!
HitchensImmortal HELL YEAH!

Song of Healing is some of the most beautiful ever written
That song and the scenes from majoras mask that it plays during are pretty emotional actually.
Damn it this song always makes me tear up. Perhaps I am reminded of my youth and the innocence that went with it...Zelda will forever live in my heart.
Its not that man, it's one of the most beautiful pieces ever created it's so emotionally packed as if it comes from the heavens

Koji kondo is an artist, god bless him and everybody in this earth
This one man has talent. Koji Kondo is legendary
I owe so much to Mr. Kondo. These games and songs are the soundtrack to a verry happy time in my life, and also got me through hard times. Basically, they touched my life in more ways than I can really quantify. Thanks for the music, it will have an impact on me forever!
I haven't really thought much about Imagine Dragons. Never really liked them. However, this has put them up on respect game in my book.
Musical genius that created the soundtrack to my own child, and adult timeline ❤
I read the title twice. onece by clicking, second time because i didnt believe it.
Koji Kondo Performs... okay always nice.
Legend of Zelda Medley... okay, awesome.
with Imagine Dragons... Oh, i love them.
Wait. That belongs into the same sentence?

I love that you can see the smiles on all of their faces listening to his music.

what about this performance makes you say he's not a great pianist? His playing was both emotional and technically flawless.
Well shit. Wasn't expecting to cry. Beautiful music guys
I'm pretty sure these guys grew up listening to koji's songs when playing videogames

This guy is a living legend. A true Prodigy
Healing song... So aproppiated for our time.
One of my favourite bands as well as the God who wrote music for 2 of my favourite franchises ever (mario and Zelda). This is a damn amazing video.

Koji Kondo is just amazing 😄
Why so much hate? It was a nice performance. Although I do have to admit that i wished for more Zelda tunes
Oh my god they did a great performance, Koji kondo was awesome with the song of healing
WHY HAVEN'T I EVER HEARD OF THIS
+Jess M ikr
I'm feeling exactly the same...
That's tight, those guys are playing with the original composer himself.
idk why this exists but i am very thankful for this performance and recording and upload
Beautiful work koji kondo !!! ❤️❤️❤️
When he was making the Zelda soundtrack I wonder if he knew what affect it was going to have on a whole generation of 90s kids
Nah, he said "OH GOSH, I HAVE TO FINISH THIS THEME IN ONE NIGHT, HELP ME"
I just skipped all the imaginary dragon thingy part. I've come for Mr. Kondo
I only liked the video because of Koji Kondo.
I loved it brought me to tears great people comes a awesome world
Imagine dragons is one of the best modern bands out today. And to be playing with Koji Kondo...I mean...that is a blessing
So beautiful I teared up.
Just one word. AMAZING
Wow it takes me back all the way to the Super Nintendo The legend of Zelda for the Super Nintendo greatest game ever.
Koji kondo is litterally the messiah of gaming music .. pure genius 👏 🙌
oh man hearing the main zelda theme hits me hard really hard - expecially when its played by koji kondo himself on a piano
2:41 when you got flashbacks during the song...
Yeah he really seems like a big zelda fan

Honestly the song relates to Link's life stories really well.
Koji Kondo the 🐐
I'm crying like a little baby right now !!!

Koji Kondo is like the Morricone of the videogames
I love this guy.
These guys took my dream and lived it lol 😅🙌🏼
kondo's a fucking legend. imagine dragons don't belong on the stage.
+bevrosity I don't like the band, but there's a few shots where you can see the singer's face and you can tell he's aware that this is coolest fucking thing he's down. He has this huge smile on his face when Kondo starts playing the main theme. I can appreciate that.

I love this man 💜
how beautiful and nostalgic this really is, I cried
this video is something wonderful
The GOAT
This is so nostalgic
This is like entering in Heaven and finding some angel playing piano for you
What will zelda games sound like when Koji kondo dies?!? I think I will die with him.
Taran Carter Skyward Sword had different composers yet it still had an absolutely amazing soundtrack. Trust Nintendo to find the best.
STFU! Kondo can't die, he can't!!!! :'(
Toru minishgi is the man

@Asspargass S Ya but he is koji kondo like just listen to OOT and then BOTW like it’s not the same
That night must have been epic
Koji actually looks like the mask salesman
Koji Kondo is above us all.
I really like it!
Besides, those who don't wanna listen to Imagine Dragons,Go to 1:10
I liked this, but it seems awkward and tacked together at last minute the way they kept switching between Kondo and the band playing. What a multiverse 😳
That was an interesting and unexpected mashup
I'm crying
After completing ocarina of time, I merely played the game again just to listen to key songs in the various temples. I remember my brother just to go "buy the soundtrack"
wow, simply wow
Now I know which themes are Koji Kondo favorites
He must know he's a legend.
okay imagine dragons nerding out because Koji Kondo is there is myfavorite thing
This brought me back to 13, parent’s basement, figuring out nocturne of shadow on the *ahem* “family” guitar.
The band Imagine Dragons, are they big LoZ fans? :)
I mean, they agreed to this so it's very likely they are.
Lovely
Legend.
When koji kondo joined in 😅
gave me chilles when the song of healing
