We were so spoiled as kids to be able to play a game as incredible as Ocarina of Time, with such timeless pieces as these. Now that I'm older, I can truly appreciate the simultaneous simplicity and complexity of each of these pieces, Koji Kondo truly is a master composer.
Koji is so critical in just how amazing these games were. My dad who bought me n64 and this sole game alone for a Christmas when I was 5 years old was absolutely stunned by the music of the loading screen and the lobby! Only game he would watch me play. Rip pops
I'm still amazed at how from only 5 notes (the 5 notes from the in-game ocarina) he was able to create many melodies that are all in different tonalities, have different styles, vibes, and are all very recognizable.
The game overall, the message of OOT, losing childhood, making sacrifices, and time using you as instrument to where you wait alone in the TWILIGHT just to finish to make a better you of that future.
Links awakening was the first game I ever played and I was instantly hooked on Zelda. Many years ago I am still amazed and the songs will be stuck in my head until I die
I recently turned 30 and I noticed a lot of people in the comments, who hold OoT dear from their chlildhood memories have roughly this same age. I guess we're the Ocarina of Time generation.
I just turned 37 this month and I got it brand new with the N64 for Christmas. Changed my life. A poor parent's entire paycheck to keep the anxiety down and happiness ongoing.
OoT is timeless! They remade it for DS and made a whole new generation of fans. Soon they will remake it for switch and we will have a whole new wave of lifelong fans!
The Fairy Fountain music will always, always, always make me cry. I was only six when this game came out, and my brother (who was eight) introduced me to it. I spent countless hours watching him playing, absolutely transported. So many fond memories are associated with this music, but definitely the Fairy Fountain is the main trigger. This is absolutely beautiful work, you two . . . you must be so proud of it. Thank you so much for sharing your talents!
The flow of time is always cruel... its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it... A thing that does not change with time is a memory of younger days...
Agreed but where is the love for horse race? Such a catchy tune! The fact a Japanese man created all these diverse genre pieces that feel like they’re truly from their cultural source is absolutely incredible.

Ok so the arrangements are amazing and beautiful, and a few people have commented on how amazing their technique is. BUT: can we all take a minute to flail (lovingly) about how absurdly dialed in this DUET performance is?? If you weren't watching the video you wouldn't know this is two instruments. This is seriously amazing duet work. The timing is just absolutely flawless. These guys aren't just amazing guitarists, they're amazing musicians.
I was twelve years old when OoC was released. I've hummed this music in my head since then. Now I'm sitting with my daughter and watching her fall in love with it, too. Thank you.
A few years ago I taught my (then-5-year-old) daughter how to run straight and play video games via Ocarina of Time. Playing on my original cartridge on my original N64, it felt like teaching her to ride a bike on the very bike I learned on. But even better, because of all the emotional connection the game pulls you into. Pure magic.
I am also mentally walking thru this game. I've seen this video about 14 times now, and each time feels just as new as when my 11 year old self first played OoT!

Listening to this in the background and decided to look at the comments. I saw this one just as they started to play the song of storms.
Song of storms babehhhh
@@dunkdamonk I'd like to see my boi play games or play for him
Links awakening was the first game I ever played and I was instantly hooked on Zelda. Many years ago I am still amazed and the songs will be stuck in my head until I die
This really takes me back to my childhood
I just come back every couple of months to enjoy this
Same...
Can confirm. I was a wee lad and used to play it with my dad who has since passed.
I know how you feel
If you haven't seen Amy Turk play the Fairy Fountain on the Harp, drop everything and UA-cam search it immediately.
The flow of time is always cruel... its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it... A thing that does not change with time is a memory of younger days...
it gets me everytime
Hopefully you got to play
This is one of the most important videos on UA-cam.
very good my brother, take a look at my channel, recorded a solo too, I am grateful for the support and strength. we're together
I know a lot people like Gerudo Valley but Zora’s Domain just hits different for me. 20:16 is simply beautiful.
Agreed but where is the love for horse race? Such a catchy tune!
The fact a Japanese man created all these diverse genre pieces that feel like they’re truly from their cultural source is absolutely incredible.
@@Pheonix8877 I’ve lost too many times on that horse race to love it lol but these guys did a fabulous job. The soundtrack for this game is just special.
Saw them in Dallas with NSP for my birthday in Nov with my mom. She loved the zoras domain especially and I told her about how beautiful and peaceful that area of the game was. This hits different but hearing them play it like this in a theater hit different different. ❤❤❤
@@TonyLeer hearing music live in general is just pure magic, especially when it’s something intricately written. That must have been amazing!

Absolutely gorgeous. I felt like I playing through the game all over again.
Same here bro!
@@TheJacali All I want is for Oot to be put on switch. I would play it so much!!!!
Welcome to Guitar Bros^^
except for the fact that this guitarist would be really smth else (if someone actually played both parts on 1 guitar same speed and all lol)
100% in sync

@@whatdothlife4660 that does mean that if one person would be able to play what these two play together it would be really something else

what a wholesome chain of comments
Its been 15 years... Time to pick my trumpet back up and start playing again. .... I miss music.
So beautiful how you recreated the sound of epona's hooves pounding the hyrule field grass in the first few seconds!
"Gerudo Valley" is the single greatest video game track ever composed.
Stone tower actually
absolutely
I’m more of a song of storms person
And you've just got like for that my friend
Personally I like song of storms. Gerudo valley is fucking amazing tho. The whole Zelda soundtrack just hits different entirely
Koji kondo would be so proud! Hope to god he hears this!
😍43 years old.... and i still feel the same emotions when I hear this melodies. just like when I was a bit younger
I was twelve years old when OoC was released. I've hummed this music in my head since then. Now I'm sitting with my daughter and watching her fall in love with it, too. Thank you.
Bruh, Im not crying, you are! That's beautiful! Stop crying about it (making me tear up)
That is beautiful (๑´̥̥̥>ω
What's OoC?
A few years ago I taught my (then-5-year-old) daughter how to run straight and play video games via Ocarina of Time. Playing on my original cartridge on my original N64, it felt like teaching her to ride a bike on the very bike I learned on. But even better, because of all the emotional connection the game pulls you into. Pure magic.
You know a game is legendary when it crosses generations
I’m mentally walking myself through the game as I’m listening to this. This is just incredible
Did you beat it? :)
Jesus Christ loves you
@@raymondspalton4766 Jesus Christ loves you

I am also mentally walking thru this game. I've seen this video about 14 times now, and each time feels just as new as when my 11 year old self first played OoT!
Jesus I can't imagine how long it took you to nail the shop theme...the fingering is insane!! Really thought you would adapt it and make it slow like the first bar but you guys completely crushed every song...this is one of the greatest pieces of media for people like all of us who played this game and the music and experience will be with us forever. Thanks guys, you gained a new sub and a fan forever!!!
I thought the shooting Gallery was difficult to play.
Danny Simental I think he is talking about the shooting gallery, based on what he said about the first bar being slow
actually its super easy barely an inconvenience. notice there are no 1/4" cables or microphones - this must have been studio recorded and then they just performed the set in front of cameras separately.
@@eweseloh Point being? You say it's super easy but then continue to kind of imply that because they did it in the studio they couldn't pull it off live like that.

As a classical guitarist, this not only reminds me of how much I loved the Zelda universe and its music but also how brilliantly composed those pieces are. Beautiful and great playing from both of you!
Sheik's theme is so underrated.

If someone didn't know that by now I'd question why they're on this video lol
Idk that I'd call it underrated, maybe under-recognized, it's got some REALLY hard competition-- every single song is so dang beautiful/catchy. I have endlessly tried to pick a favorite and I can't. I pick the whole soundtrack. The soundtrack is my favorite.
I was finally able to cry. Thank you.
The soundtrack of Ocarina of Time holds a special place in my heart. Thank you so much for this lovely medley
That soundtrack brings me so much comfort, it's a really sense of refuge
Absolutely stellar from start to finish, but what a surprisingly tender take on the Shooting Gallery.
Yep. Shooting gallery was much faster and pissed me off for countless hours. xD
Seriously. That was so incredible. Just imagine not being in a pandemic and walking by two guys recording guitar covers of Zelda songs near a picnic pavilion in a park. I'd sit there all day and just listen.

Totally! It sounds nice moving between nylon and steel
That rendition of fairy fountain instantly put me in a relaxed states of bliss. It was awesome.
Better than CBD.
The Sheik song really somehow captured the entire concept of nostalgia and longing for the past in a bottle.
Ocarina of time was the pinnacle of my childhood. Thank you for making me feel like a kid again! 🙏
Song of Storms gave me so many chills.
The jazzy remix was really cool
It took out the somberness of the song, which defeats the purpose of the song

Exact same thing here. Those guys nailed it, and coming from a fellow player, they played really hard parts.
The title theme always makes me emotional when someone plays with acoustic instruments. Really beautiful.
Best rendition of "shop" music I've ever heard .
The Shop, AND the Potion Shop. They both slap so hard.
