Thank you for all you do to help support and encourage me to keep on turning :)
God bless!!!
Didn’t even now Mesquite was a species of wood. I’ve seen a lot of live edge pieces like this on UA-cam but I really appreciate the small tips along the way. I’m so new in the turning world and love all the little shared areas of experience. Keep up the great work. God bless
Glad you enjoyed turning the wood! Beautiful natural edge bowl from a beautiful lady. 👍🇺🇸
Thank you so much, Cortland!! You have turned me into a Mesquite addict ! lol I appreciate you sending this wood. I had a lot of fun turning it.
Kim what a magnificent and spectacular bowl the grain in it is just awesome and stunningly beautiful. God bless you and your family a thousand fold and keep you safe. I love your work it is just awesome.
Thank you, Kobie! God bless you and yours!
Beautiful as always. It's refreshing when someone admits to mistakes, And still makes the best of it.
I just love your videos. You voice is so calming unlike many dudes who just scream, so Thank you.
Thank you so much 🤗
@@KimTippin you inspired me to make one too. So I did. With walnut
And another gorgeous piece from the lathe of Kim Tippin! WOW!
Your video reminded me of a Mesquite story. Four or five years ago I was in Maui when a friend was settling his fathers estate. He had a aerial photo from when his father had built his house in 1992. It was in the middle of a five acre field that had grown some crop. There was no vegetation at all. That was then. Now there were palm trees, banana trees, and all kinds of plants growing. It looked like a jungle. There was a fence around the property and as we walked around, he pointed out a mesquite tree that was about a foot across and it was right inn the fence line. He told me that when his dad built the fence, he used whatever he could find for fence posts and used a piece of mesquite. It took root and grew. I had never heard of that. I relayed the story to my dad, who had grown up in Texas, and he said he had seen that happen before. So be careful about getting that bowl too close to water. :-D
You have an amazing talent Kim. I like your videos because you explain what tools you use and why you use them.
Thank you, Sam :)

Beautiful bowl, Kim. The grain is unbelievable.
Nice natural edged bowl. The wood does look very similar to Walnut, my favorite wood. Now I am going to keep my eye out for Mesquite.

That is a beautiful piece of wood you are so talented
Thank you, Charles!
Beautiful colors and grain design Lovely shape ❤️
Nice bowl, Kim!! I have tons on mesquite and desert salt cedar (Tamarix) on property I own in southern New Mexico. Both woods when dry, can be pretty tough to work with and hard on tools. But they do have beautiful color, and ring patterns. Play it safe while turning mesquite. It can be temperamental since it tends to be brittle when dry. Heck, if my land was near you, I would give you an endless supply of both mesquite and salt cedar since they both grow like weeds; particularly in and near the irrigation ditches for pecan orchards and other crop lands.
Thank you!
Even though this was considered green, some spots were dryer than others and was "chippy". reminds me of how cedar is when dry. Likes to split is sharp jagged shards.
I wouldn't mind turning a forest of green Mesquite :)
Another wonderful piece of art! Thank you for the narration, it helps us that dont always get the process
Kim if you hadn't of said this was Mesquite I would have put money on it being Walnut 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ but its absolutely gorgeous and I love the live edge and the bark so happy it all stayed intact, great job as always 👍👍👍
Thank you, Gavin 🤗
Beautiful piece. Loving the live edge and the shape.
Beautiful wood and very well done. Thanks for sharing. I like the design change.

Beautiful wood. And you made a nice bowl with it. Beautiful natural edge. 👌
Mesquite is a wonderful wood to turn. I made a porter and pestil out of mesquite. It was really wet, but didn't move at all.

Mesquite is prolific here in Texas and is a favorite of mine to turn. In fact I have a piece on the lathe that will look very much like yours when I’m finished. You did a great job on this piece.
So cool, I love it!!!❤️

Hi Mike!! Yes, Thank you! Hope you are well too!! God Bless!
Incredible! That’s one special, stunning bowl Kim. Great turning.
Thank you!!
Beautifully handled, Kim. Mesquite is my favorite as well - it’s not difficult to make it look nice! Dry mesquite just requires more patience, but it still turns and finishes well.
Very attractive nice piece. Cheers Kim
Thank you, Sony 🤗
Beautiful piece. Just tried the Howard’s Feed & Wax. I really liked it, especially on my blackjack Florida oak. Made it pop w/o being super shiny.
Thank you so much, Kenneth 🤗🤗

Thank you, Pam! 🤗
WOW what a beautiful bowl. Love the look of the grain
Thank you!
Stunning
I love working with mesquite. Glad you good get a piece to work with. If I remember correctly tung oil is considered the traditional finish for mesquite. I mostly make small things with it like pens and chess pieces. I do have a few large pieces I want to do something with.
Professionally made piece,and the video.
Beautiful bowl, you have wonderful revealed the texture of the tree. But you yourself know very well how good your work is and my praise will add little to this knowledge. :-)
Living here in Texas, we have a TON of Mesquite, and I love working with in (although sometimes I have a problem with the finish since it tends to soak up anything you apply to it).
It also is the best to use for smoking meat, tangy and tasty.
That is a very nice bit of wood and a nice bowl
Gorgeous piece Kim. That mesquite is beautiful.
Thank you!! I appreciate it!
I haven't been able to finr any mesquite yet, when I do this is what I would like to do. The bowl is awesome, thank you for sharing.
Kim: This bowl turned out great. That is some pretty wood. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you, TFL !
Turned out beautiful! I live in the land of Mesquite out here in Texas 60 miles north of Abilene. It is my favorite wood for its beautiful grain patterns and its famous taste it gives BBQ. I have a few pieces waiting to be turned once I feel I have the experience, which will still be a ways down the turning road. Love watching you create beautiful art from wood and acrylic.
Thank you!!
