- Brentford 1 Newcastle United 0 Carabao Cup Match Review.
Newcastle United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup 1/4 final by Championship side Brentford. If you didn't follow football and watch your first match tonight you would think that Brentford were the Premier League side.
Newcastle United were simply awful yet again from start to finish and deserved absolutely nothing from the game, it was a disgrace.
Steve Bruce simply has to go! His luck has run out and the time is now for Mike Ashley to pull the trigger and bring someone else in who can save this season as Newcastle United are going one way and that is down.

As much as I'm delighted with the Bees result last night, I have to say I really feel your pain, and had no idea how much you and fellow toon fans feel at this moment regarding Steve Bruce and some of your players. I know things don't look or feel great for you right now, but believe me, things WILL improve during the season and Newcastle will definitely pick up at some point. I truly believe you will survive fairly comfortably, although your next 3 games are killers! All I want to say is to keep the faith and believe things will get better. Your fantastic supporters really deserve better. Like Brentford fans, the toon army fans are very long suffering. I hope you get your wish in appointing a new and better manager very soon. The very best of luck for the rest of the season!

I made my comment before seeing this, thats all most of us fans want universally to be entertained in the manner of Bielsa. Even though I did not enjoy the 3-0 defeat [ie Villa] , I admire what Leeds have done in the last 2 years, without spending much.
Carroll smiling when he’s just missed a golden chance in the 90th minute just sums up the attitude of this squad and he’s meant to be one of us too but hey ho that’s a Steve Bruce team for you in a nutshell. The next four games are a complete write off. Bruce out immediately, Great video.

They can't be genuine in their acclaim for one of the worst football managers that the game of soccer ever produced. Allen Shearers silence on all of this is due to the fact that he's a good friend of Steve Bruce. If it were another manager, Shearer would tear strips off him!
You summed it all up in this video mate. Everything I was thinking literally. There’s no organisation and we are playing worse and worse with every game now. I honestly think he’s lost the dressing room, miggy isn’t even smiling anymore and I’m also starting to believe ASM and Jamal bust up with Bruce rumour is true.

From a Leeds fans perspective (hear me out lol), the amount of similarities between where you are now and where we were no more than five minutes before Bielsa came to us is shocking. Yes, youve got some average players and players who have seemingly piled in on the confidence or effort front, but so did we and we still have a lot of those players today who are now being talked about as the most exciting team in the prem. I was gutted for you when Rafa went, even more so to see him replaced by Bruce, most of us have a soft spot for the toon and see you as the only other proper class northern city/club/people there are other than us but youre at that junction where we were 17 years ago it can go how it did for us, or you can get the world class coach you're easily capable of getting, and deserve, and get the lads fired up and believing in themselves again. I've not spoken to one other white who says different to me, furthermore, who doesn't wish you the best. Head up, brother, you'll get there.

He even had the cheek to take the piss out of us before we played you saying Bielsa was learning a hard lesson, then claim after that he thought you were equal to us. Funny thing was that he was literally the only Geordie who didn't have your honesty post match to say the right thing. You hit nail on the head by saying he should do the right thing if he loves Newcastle as he claims. I know if I was in charge at Leeds id have shit mesen long ago and begged them to get me help or better still, a replacement. Not taking the piss at all but we play you again end of Jan and I can see us breaking a record getting at least another five past you. Sad thing is, I can only see that because we've got the smell of blood with yous and that fraud will still be in charge. Ashley the cunt won't even sack him when he's taken you down!

I said before the game Brentford would win it. I just didn't expect them to put so little effort into doing it. What annoyed me watching the game was that it was clear Newcastle COULD have bossed it. They COULD have pressed Brentford off the park, they COULD have pushed forward and created chances. They had the tools to do so but there is no motivation to win in that squad and that all comes down to the manager. Hell, Alan Pardew had nothing in the way of tactical philosophy but he could at least motivate a side for a season until it all grew stale but this? Newcastle deserve better, but the real question is what better manager would work under Mike Ashley?
That is the problem, a top class manager will never work under Ashley which is why he probably won't sack Bruce.
Great passionate review of the match and the current grim situation Newcastle are in once more. Bruce should go, However just my opinion Mike Ashley is not in the habit of releasing managers due to contract release clauses, I hope I am wrong in this case…………..

Full sympathy as a Villa fan I know what you are going through. I have only spent half a day in Newcastle and in that short time I saw the passion of people for the club. Its like a nation not a city of a country. If you get a manager whos team plays like the current Leeds team , despite some heavy defeats you would back them to the hilt. This because they play with fearless passion. You do not ask for much for such a big club [just for someone a bit like Kevin Keegan].
All we want is a team that competes, winning things is a bonus.
Another leeds fan here never had any negative feelings against you boys you've a amazing stadium with mad passionate fans you dont deserve the ownership/piss poor management struggles I am all too familiar with myself but I tell you what those players IF you can call them that want to feel VERY damn lucky that we have covid because if your stadium was even half full they would fucking damn well know that their performance levels are not anywhere near what is expected of big clubs with big history they need to sort it out now or god help them when the stadiums reopen. There's many teams id rather see relegated before yourselves so best of luck.

That's what we as Newcastle fans have said for while now, there are some very talented players in the squad but Steve Bruce is taking them backwards.

Steve Bruce has been a lucky man throughout his tenure as Newcastle manager, but the greatest slice of luck has to be the fact that the supporters cant go to the matches and voice their opinions torwards Bruce about these horrendous hideous performances that we are witnessing week after week. Bruce makes Pardew and McClaren look like Guardiola and Klopp that's how bad Steve Bruce is. We need a change in manager asap who can come into the club with fresh modern ideas which includes a Plan A and Plan B instead of just sticking the cones out so that we can get something out of the matches. This result against Brentford's B side is far from acceptable. Time to go Brucey!

Bit harsh on Joelinton I reckon, best moment of the match for me was when he got it in our half and surged forward and picked out Wilson in the box with a great pass who then kicked it in to the ground. Easy to say now but, if Gayle had of started he would have scored at least one of the 3 or 4 golden chances Wilson fluffed. That cross from Lewis was begging to be glanced in to the far corner but Wilson managed to miss the near post by about 6 yards. Best service he's received so far in a toon shirt, worst performance tho.
I will never think Joelinton is good enough, sorry it's just my opinion.

Bruce’s comments after the game were laughable about how he put the best side out. It’s all well and good putting the best side out but if you don’t have a system suits the players then selection means nothing also what does Marty longstaff have to do to get a game atleast he would bring a tempo to the midfield

Newcastle United go out of a cup competition away against a lower league club, has this not happened numerous times in the years gone by especially with Ashley as owner, that Bruce's fault also? Just a thought, happens most seasons, Ashley hired Bruce and will hire another Bruce type if he does go, cheap and grateful, nothing will change under Ashley.

Wilson looks totally pissed off (understandably so...), Shelvey a waste of space and Forrest Gump Almiron even worse. There is a good squad there but they'll need to show some resolve in the next 3 games or it could get ugly...
