      @TebomanBuster 10 місяців тому

      Neither the Royal Family or the Netflix series confirmed if he cheated or not (that would have been disastrous to the reputation of the RF) but it is heavily implied that he had several mistresses during his life. Before this scene, Elizabeth finds the portrait of that ballerina in Phillip's bag just before he went on a trip and Elizabeth hides the portrait. Also the wife of his secretary/best friend divorced him accusing adultery and family neglection. So, heavily implied (wink wink).@@maulikmishra7609

      It is heavily implied but never confirmed by the royal family or in the series. But we can conclude he did. The portrait Elizabeth shows to him corresponds to Galina Ulanova, a russian ballerina who was a rumoured mistress of Phillip. Also Philip was a macho guy and known to be a womanizer. was he the only one at the gentleman lunch clubs who never crossed the line? Let me doubt.

      Sex, in its various forms, every other day will go a long, long way towards keeping your husband "faithful";
      OR
      A wife can dig her heels in and refuse sex regularly because it doesn't fit into her schedule, perceived level of fatigue, or emotional stance. See how that works out.
      BTW....in return for an attentive wife, a proper husband shall provide for his wife and children, shall create an environment of stability, shall be kind, shall be a good father, spend most evenings in relaxed repose with his wife, etc., etc. Anything less means the man doesn't deserve his attentive wife.
      The choice is yours......maintain your confrontational sexual principles regardless of your spouse's unhappiness OR take care of your husband sexually and create a household of stability and love.

      I think that Philip did cheat on the Queen with many women over the years. I doubt very much they ever had a conversation like this scene. Direct confrontation was not the Queen’s way. Strict marital fidelity is not the aristocratic way, especially for husbands. But recreational extracurricular activities were not viewed as being a threat to the marital relationship but coexisting with it. At least for the men. A double standard is in play for the wives. I think the queen knew about many of Phillips dalliances but pretended that she didn’t and in exchange he remained her Rock for 73 years. I think he loved her very much. It’s just that men don’t equate sex with love the same way women do. They can sample other wares outside the marital bed but if their hearts aren’t engaged, it truly means nothing to them. It’s like scratching an itch or eating when they are hungry. The physical need that is compelling in the moment but the minute it is satisfied it’s completely forgotten about. The queen was also incredibly busy and an extroverted sociable alpha man like Philip needed more attention then she could provide him. The queen and Philip had a very special connection. She never stopped looking at him the way she did in her engagement picture… Adoringly. They had four children. I love the pictures of her at Trooping the Color in 1964, holding 2 month old baby Edward. The queen looks so happy and Philip is also beaming. I don’t think that was all for public display but they were genuinely happy that day.

      @marywenzel3199 10 місяців тому +15

      @@mattdavis1735 I absolutely agree that marital infidelity is a terrible betrayal. .. I couldn’t look the other way either. But moral codes are shall we say more flexible in the aristocracy. The idea that a man has a moral obligation to be faithful to his wife when his social station allows him to buy anything or anyone is what the aristos would Pooh Pooh as a “bourgeois” idea that does not apply equally to the masters of the universe. Yet they stand up in church and swear before God and man to be faithful. Hypocritical AF? You bet. But it was ever thus with Kings. Until the Victorian era at least, the King’s mistress was not only well known but she was a person of influence at court-at least until she lost favor and was replaced. Madam du Barry and Nell Gwynne wielded as much soft power as the legitimate Queen. When he was still a youth KCIII announced to his parents that he had no intention of being the first King in history not to have a mistress. He kept his word there at the expense of his wedding vows to a vulnerable young woman who’d already experienced divorce trauma in her birth family. (If Alan Bennett is telling the truth, the much reviled George III never was unfaithful to his Queen even after 15 children-and his doctors actually wondered if his lack of “recreational opportunities” had contributed to his difficulties!) Ridiculed for fidelity to his wife-that is the aristocratic code. I’m not down with this but it’s so common as to be accepted practice in the world Charles and Diana were raised in. Charles felt justified in carrying on with Camilla because most of his peers and role models were doing the same, to tacit acceptance. And he had made no secret of his feelings for Camilla to his elders who had forbid him ti marry her. In Charles’ mind that wasn’t sneaking around but a known fact. His remark at the engagement-“Whatever love means”-that so hurt Diana was Charles’ oblique attempt at honesty. He would not be forced into gushy sentiments he did not feel. To him the marriage was a business merger, a dynastic duty which as a dutiful son and heir he was fulfilling. His heart was still a free agent and belonged to Camilla. Evidently Camilla did not perceive Diana as a threat; her real rival was Lady Kanga Tryon, Royal mistress #2. Diana befriended Kanga on purpose which is pretty delicious. She hated Camilla so much that she had no problem sharing her husband with yet another woman if the other woman could get him away from Camilla. This is court intrigue for you, and Diana learned how to play the game. It would’ve been better for all concerned if Charles could’ve genuinely falling in love with his wife and been with only her. Failing that, I think he intended to stay married to her and make her his Queen while keeping his ladies on the side as had been accepted from all his predecessors. This arrangement was not tolerable to Diana and she made married life intolerable for the both of them. I empathize with her sense of betrayal but she ultimately forced Charles to divorce her. After she’d done it she immediately regretted the price she had to pay. I’ve recently read that even ER’s sainted father had a “special friend” who tended to physical needs the QM no longer could or wanted to after 2 difficult pregnancies and C-sections. QM was fully aware and actually thanked the lady for her attentions to her husband. If Diana had taken the same view, she might now be Queen. At a cost of course. There is always a cost. Diana rebelled against the status quo and paid with her life. She was not faithful to Charles either with many men, often married ones and/or employees of the Royal household. So, glass houses. She admitted herself that she was the first to cheat. It’s a sad sad tragic business that is still being played out today. Look at Harry

Thanks for sharing!

    • @marywenzel3199

      @@mattdavis1735 Thanks. I imagine the most frustrating thing about being in the royal family is that the media and even commissioned biographical sources don’t tell the whole story. Or even necessarily the real story. William is a human man and I know that he dated quite a few girls besides Kate. He was quite serious about Jecca Craig Seeing as he blew off his cousin Peter’s wedding to attend the wedding of Jecca’a brother in South Africa which was occurring on the same day.
      That raise some eyebrows since the groom sister was William‘s old flame. Apparently it was on the Craig family estate where William popped the question to Kate with Diana‘s ring. So I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt that he can have married female friends in his circle that he is not sleeping with. Rose H is a near neighbor in Norfolk and her husband until the secession of king Charles was the lord chamberlain of England, a very important role at court. So it would be exceedingly weird not to mention difficult for William to completely avoid lord Rocksavage and his wife just to curtail speculation that he’s having an affair with Rose. We have to ask ourselves, cui bono? Who benefit the most from keeping these rose infidelity rumors stirred up? Sussex Court West comes to mind. They would like nothing better than to interfere in the Wales marriage and keep everybody miserable. I will only observe that narcissists attack their targets for the same “sins” which they themselves do. Certain couple in Montecito plays away from home all the time. And they wouldn’t think anything of making false accusations. It is very common for aristocratic men to have affairs. Philip did it, even the late queens father had a mistress. If all parties accept it it is not a threat to the marriage. I think William having gone through what he did with his parents would not be cavalier with his wife’s feelings or his children’s sense of security. If he got drunk one night and had an indiscretion… Well stuff happens when you’re drunk. That wouldn’t be an affair in the same way as Charles and Camilla. To Charles his credit he did publicly admit to the af fair, very publicly in a television interview in 1994. A decade after it started it was hardly shocking news but he owned up to it with quite a shocking amount of honesty. I think in his mind and in the social conventions of his circle, he did not consider the relationship with Camilla and His marriage as being mutually exclusive. Perhaps a selfish attitude but it really was the done thing. Duty to the crown and personal pleasure are separate things. I think Charles was aware of Diana’s many extracurricular friends but he accepted it. In return he expected the same consideration from her but she broke the unstated rule. She wanted Charles all to herself all the time as a form of control really and that’s not the way it works with kings. I’m not defending Charles and Camilla for being cruel to Diana But Diana made a deal to become princess of Wales and then decided to complain about the terms. She violated never complain never explain. She knew about Camilla in advance of the wedding and she went through with it anyway so it’s not like he sprung it on her after the fact. If she had played along and allowed him his friends, she would be queen today of this time very certain. What a different world we would be living in. William and Catherine’s marriage is ultimately between the two of them but Catherine had a decade to decide if she could live with the terms of being Royal and she decided that she could. That means sharing her husband and her life with the world media and potentially other women but I do not automatically Believe everything published about the royal family especially when it’s unflattering because there are anti-monarchists with agendas out there and they are having a field day today.
