The casting directors certainly deserve huge pay raises for getting actors who uncannily resemble William and Kate to portray them.

I felt a strange tinge of sadness while watching their second episode in particular and then I realised the story was depicted so delicately it made me miss being in my late teens and experimenting that kind of very soft, sweet love.
I think humans should just ditch concepts like dating, marriage, and pair bonding. I feel like this world would be a much better place without romance than it is with it.
It does seem that nearly all fathers are hoping that their daughters never date or get married and remain single for the rest of their lives. Romantic relationships seem like a bad thing since there is a lot of dangers when it comes to them.
The overprotective father thing is proof that romantic relationships are a bad thing, and this world would be a much better place without them.
If someday that the human race ditches the concept of romance and romantic relationships, and got rid of stuff like dating and marriage, fathers would be happy about it since they wouldn't ever have to worry about their daughters ever dating if that ever happened.
It's a shame that they didn't show William and Kate's wedding, but then again, having it stop at the Queen's 80th birthday, was a great conclusion, and her reflecting on her life and reign was appropriately poignant.

there was an article where the creators of the crown said they knew where the right place to stop would be. Plus each season goes through numerous of years. I thought it would go to her death but that would be having more seasons for william and kates wedding, them having kids, megan and harrys wedding. Megan and Harry eventully leaving royal family status. Them having kids. King charles becoming king. Queen elizabeths death. which would probally be 2 more seasons at least. and idk but they thought this would be enough since they said they didnt want to go too much into present day.
this is exactly why we need a seventh season of The Crown, or at least a movie about William and Kate dating, getting married and having their children
obviously i know these characters are based on real people (and i was a kid when the royal wedding of william and kate happened and it was one of the most gorgeous things i've seen on tv!) but somehow their storyline and the way they're characterized makes it feel like it's something of it's own in a sense, sort of like those teen dramas from the early 2000's. wish we got more scenes, i loved the chemistry between ed and meg onscreen!

William is my favourite Royal. Out of all the Royals I met during my time in the Army, he was a very humble and kind man.
A fitting ending It ties in with the romance of Elizabeth and Phillip.
They were adorable and I would love a spin-off!
I love the Prince and Princess of Wales. I wanted to see more of them on the series with their ups and downs, but I'm just happy to know that they are still together in real life and have a wonderful family ❤️
They deserve their own spinnoff. With Harry in it before things fall apart. Easily the best relationship and one of the best thing happened in royal family in 50 years.

Now I just wish we could get something like the crown for other European royal families, Sweden and the Netherlands have quite the sweet story, like queen beatrix of the Netherlands marrying a German with protests from pretty much everyone (ww2 and all), while king Carl Gustav of Sweden first meet his future wife at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972,
Their spinoff would be boring besides the romance. What else did they have going on? The crown was interesting because QE had so much going on and a long history. The politics also made the show very interesting seeing all those different prime ministers.
William and Kate are dull. It would be better to do the Grimaldis, or some crazy aristocracy stories, or do some obscure royals.
After Elizabeth and Philip, this is the best Royal love story ❤
Only if you look at the british royal family, other countries have quite sweet love stories for their royals as well, queen beatrix of the Netherlands had to face opposition for falling and later marrying Claus von amberg, a German only 20 years after ww2, while king Karl Gustav of Sweden meet his wife Silvia at the Olympic Games in Munich 1972, likely one of the few good stories from that Olympics

Sorry Netflix, but you found the wrong royal to give you a true story. If Kate was not the amazing woman she is, she would not be in the British Royal Family. Her mother could have been interested in getting them together, but Kate had to win his hearth and also the hearth of the nation. She did. She also show lots of very important virtues to be a part of the family. Your American princess did not. I loved The Crown, but did not even wanted to watch the other shows, because I know they lied to get your money, the prove is they left England for privacy, and showed their kids to the whole world.

The library scene was utterly ridiculous. No. Being a celebrity (let alone a ROYAL) is NOT the same as 'being a girl'. Someone in line to the throne is not simply ogled and judged for their looks or regularly 'harassed' by people wanting a date with them. This very season had women sending William inappropriate and creepy letters, the MEDIA scrutinises every aspect of who he is for public consumption, invading his privacy, and the 'judgement' girls get is rooted in whether or not people want to date/have sex with them. In William's case, in any royal's case, it's all that AND a gigantic extra existential pressure of whether they are 'suitable' for the throne or not and how that will or won't have consequences for his family and the entire country.

Agreed. I found it sad that after Diana's death, all most women cared about was whether they could date William. Like the guy just lost his mother, they were so insensitive. It was revolting how one letter from some fan said to hold the bear she gave while thinking about her at night. If this actually happened, then I pity William

Lol tabloids were mad at Kate for not speaking to them and they started making stuff about her. She was enrolled in St. Andrews before him and at the fashion charity show she actually had a boyfriend. There are several outfit changes and she's posing with other male students. They can't show that part because it destroys the narrative that she went there to capture a prince.

sorry but William/Kate story was the weak part of the entire series, I find it boring and disconnected, considering the series ended around 2005, at the time their relationship was not even remotely close to"marriage" talk, they were not the center of the crown, they should give their story like 5~10 mins screen time at most not the entire episode.
