To be honest, Aegon's story is kind of sad. He was neglected by his parents, who treated him like an idiot. As a result, he became what he is as a human being (i.e. not a good person). He didn't want to rule, but was made to. To add insult to injury, those who forced him to become king are the same people who scold him for not being grateful for something he didn't want in the first place. They really should have let him disappear as he was asking for. Even better, they should have let Rhaenyra rule as she was supposed to. Instead they ended up fucking up his life even more (and everyone else's too).
There was a line in the dragon pit where Jace was trying to claim Vermax and the dragon keeper said that "You must hold your mastery over Vermax. As Prince Aegon has with Sunfyre." Which makes me think that even when Aegon couldn't speak high valyrian his bond with Sunfyre was strong. He speaks to Sunfyre in common tongue and he still understands it. The closest bond that a dragon rider had.
