  • An excellent example of the relatively unsung 2MT by Ivatt. This video is also an excellent example of what happens to me after 5 cups of coffee!

Great review! The one on the box is 46443 on the SVR. I was pulled by her from Bewdley to Bridgnorth back in October 2006. By the way my Bachmann S&DJR 53809, & SR N class mogul are both permantly coupled to there tenders, however 53809 has the small chip and wires like that one, the SR N class doesn't. Strange, lol. :)

An easy way to tell if it's BR or LMS is the livery. BR's black was usually lined and LMS unlined, although there were exceptions.
Also, if you want to get behind a Ivattt 2MT, 46512 is fresh from an overhall at the Strathspey Railway in Aviemore. Fantastic loco on a fantastic railway. :)

this is one of the few new 4mm models I've been umming and ahhhing about since it came out. My best mate has an old Hornby one, he repainted it in London Transport livery. Strangely, it looked right!

The br loco on the photo no 46443 I know the fireman of the loco in the steam days and he is still alive from this day been watching your videos for 2 year keep it up you have a brilliant UA-cam channel and the nick name of the locos are (Micky mouse)

an hour each way does seem a little excessive for a toy train with a tiny electric motor. They probably state that to make it sound more like the real engine. :)

Great review but the Ivatt 2-6-0s were built to replace the Class 2F 0-6-0s which are tender engines. The Jintys are Class 3F 0-6-0s

@AstroTrainboy1174 it really depends on the tunnel. Tracks and trains are built to exact sizes and standards. But tunnels aren't.

This is very similar in its looks to Ivatt's Class 4s, which were nicknamed "Flying Pigs". They apparently had a tendency to slip their brakes and run off; one of them ran off a turntable into a ditch, and another ran away down the main line.
That appears to be a dryer sheet she was wrapped in.
No, NEM does not mean you are free to remove them and replace them with whatever coupler you like. It means you are free to remove them and install a Kadee Magne-Matic or other knuckle coupling. That is what they are designed for - all they are designed for. If what you like is a bigger more useful tension-lock, then you have to hack stuff out of the way or rig up a filler of some sort depending. Because oh, no, they couldn't just make nonferrous or plastic hooks standard across the board and attach cheap ferrous tabs to them at the factory so that tension locks could magnetically uncouple. No, they had to make tension-locks that were designed to be replaced and then add insult to injury by shrinking them in a failed attempt to make them less conspicuous.
What is it with you and being blind to unpainted cab detail most of the time?! No, really, what the hell gives?! "Just a couple of shutoff valves"? There's a ton of piping leading to them like there should be, firehole doors, a regulator, dampers, the works! Hell, you even missed some of the stuff that WAS painted: the handbrake and the gauges! Do you need heavy-duty glasses or something?! AAAARGH YOU ARE OVERALL SUCH A TALENTED AND THOROUGH REVIEWER BUT YOU ALMOST ALWAYS COMPLETELY FAIL IN THIS ONE AREA!

Depends on location. Are you in the US? If so, try the Pacific Flyer from bachmann. If you are in the UK, try the Hornby Industrial Goods Set! Both are good for beginners

note: the 0-6-0 are NOT jintys, an 0-6-0 is a tender engine. a jinty is a 0-6-0T as it is a tank engine.

@LegoArtsProduction ideally with all locomotives you get, Hornby don't specify but it is a good idea if you want the best performance from your engines if they haven't been run for a while.

Maybe there's some way you can adapt a bridge rectifier to a DPDT switch, worked by the reversing mechanism from an older Märklin loco. Other than that, I think it would just be too much trouble. Märklin do not place a high priority on interchange with other manufacturers' products.

These were often refered as Micky Mouse locos as they are supposed to look like him from the front apparently. I can tell you have had five cups of coffee you seem to be very alive lol. Also if you want to ride on something similar to one of these theres a BR standard 2 at great central which looks very alike to this, saw it there last weekend, fabulous loco, railway and video. Just mad about them and there larger relatives the 'Muckey Duck' or 'Flying Pig' as Zelda alluded to. I have always known these two locos by the names I used.
