Hi Sam. I have the same loco and I must say it's been absolutely brilliant. The cables between the loco and tender is a bit unsightly but is easily sorted with a touch of black paint. My loco is very smooth and quiet, especially with a gaugemaster controller. I've had mine almost 6 years and not had one issue.
Ooh that's fantastic - hope you get to see her! Yes I have seen their class 2 at the GCR - didn't know it was this one though! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
yes. enjoyed. this is as close as any steam engine gets to being petite. going by the yellow triangle on the cab side this is an ex western engine where coloured shapes gave route availability, yellow triangle was the widest. most restricted was 2 red dots. have faith in your judgment, i find your conclusions reliable. thanks roy
Hello Sam, long time no see, loved the new video! Apologies for not being around like I used to, had some errands I needed to run during the holidays. However, after I finished all my duties I saw that your new video was of an Ivatt Class 2, specifically 46521, and I couldn’t wait. Thank you for making this video about the Ivatt 46521, which is one of my favorite Ivatt locomotives every since I saw the show “Oh Doctor Beeching”. Anyway, thank you for taking your time in making this video. Also, I will make sure to become a member soon. Take care Sam, and have a great day! - Sai
Hey again Sai - welcome back mate! Ahh yes - glad you liked this being the engine from the show! That'd be awesome - see you on the members stream then, if you decide to join!! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Very fair review of a below par loco. i have had the Hornby version for 40 years with no problems. 46521 was based at Oswestry and spent most of its life on the Cambrian line in Wales. rescued from Barry in 1971 by the Severn Valley Railway where it still runs today.
Brilliant review.... and one I will not be getting! As always Sam your advice is of infinite value! Just a thought on the packaging, the piece they have tooled up to go between the two is actually THE highest level of packaging that prevents damage to the delicate parts like the railings, without doing any damage itself... often using a piece of sponge is not a good way because sponge can catch on delicate parts when being removed or, in fact, inserted. The builders plate is Swindon because Swindon built a number of them for use on ex GW lines due to their power (I know they were only supposed to be a class 2) and their wide route availability so could be used on some of their lines in Wales. All the others were in lined black but Swindon did paint more in passenger green. I bought mine second hand for less than half the price you paid, but I like the colour. Bachmann had made the 2-6-2 tank version much earlier but the chassis were not good and they only upgraded it 2 years ago. I am not convinced that the chimney is quite right and the dome definitely looks wrong for this engine. Yet again, another interesting review.
I see Don, thanks a lot for letting me know! For a much lower price like yours, this would be much more worth it! Yes I saw they're updated version - but the price is still insane for them, given the age of the body!! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hello, Sam! That BR green is quite stunning, I must say. If I ever end up building a 18 inch or 2 foot gauge locomotive, this would be the first livery.
One of my favorite locomotives! I have a newer version in BR Early Lined. They did a much better job of picking out the cab detail on mine. Still has the wires to accommodate a DCC decoder in the tender. Guess they could have added tender pickups, but the engine never cuts out anywhere. Extremely smooth and powerful!
Sam, at 14:25. Not so much strangely proportioned tender, but designed to help with tender first running on longer secondary lines without the need for a large turntable. Gave the crew better protection and vision when running tender first. Quite a few other tenders designed the same way.
I have a soft spot for this locomotive. Compared to the Standard 4 and 5 it's like that younger sibling that's not the annoying one but more so the one that tries to copy you but in a charming loveable way.
Thank you for this review. I have just bought this loco (Sept. 2021), pre-owned and weathered, from Hattons. It hasn't arrived yet, so it was good to get some idea of what I might recieve, minus the weathering, which could enhance or detract. I'll know when I get it. :)
You’re right that there’s a tank engine version. Chris green discussed these locomotives, and Simon Martin’s series has one: George the midland tank engine. I can’t call the engine here: George, since it’s a tender engine, but I think Chris and Simon would enjoy this. And yes, you’re right that it’s hard to tell these apart from the standard class 2s. Robert riddle was true to his lms roots, working for both stanier and ivatt, and staffing his administration with mostly lms personnel.
I do agree with your opinions Sam, being the sort of person that doesn't like to spend their money ! That loco could definitely be better. I did enjoy the video of Sam, well done.
The picture of the engine on the front of the box, no. 46443, was taken at the Severn Valley Railway, where 46521 used to reside So there’s a good chance that no. 46521 was out pulling a train when that picture was taken or maybe even behind the photographer
Wow lovely loco! I would love to add this to my collection but I drive on Märklin track and its 3 rail not 2 rail like hornby... I hope I can buy some track soon and buy this loco!👍🏼 great review sam! Greet Xander
Hi Sam, I don't know when you bought your 32-825 for £149, but I have 32-826Z, which is BR Lined Black and Weathered, special edition for "The Signal Box", and the price new from them was £84.99. I don't know when I bought it, but several years ago, but if that was the original price point for the 2MT maybe that makes the shortcuts (no tender pickups and no axle bearings) more understandable. BTW mine is in exactly the same style of box as yours.
I’ve got an early BR crest one which I’ve fitted lamps to (but they don’t work right) and an LMS black one. LMS black is my favourite livery. I’m about to drill more holes in the drawbar between the loco and tender to close the gap. I’ll be shortening the wires too.
Nice locomotive. Seen a few of these for sale at hattons and have been curious about getting one. The livery is quite smart as well. Great review Sam. Clint at Leila Central.
Thanks a lot Clint! Yeah for the right price these are decent- but I'd never suggest paying more than about £90 for this at the most! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Quite right on review . I’ve got a black one I got new when it came out, from memory it was about £70 back then. I hadn’t picked up on the lack of tender pick ups because to be honest mine runs pretty well even at slow speed . She is just a nice loco. Not sure the wiring is as prominent in mine . The issue with Bachmann is price . Their parent Kader seem to want to extract the maximum profit out the British enthusiast .
A nice review and In my opinion, I agree with what you said. A round axle in a square hole, there seems to be enough room there to fit a pair of brass bearings. Under Engineered is the way I would put it. Martin (Thailand)
Thankyou for this review Sam! I've been looking forward to your opinion on this one. I wonder whether the re-released model solves any of the mechanism and bearing quality issues? I hope so, I'd love for more people to enjoy the Ivatt, it just oozes personality!
My pleasure mate - I do wonder whether the newer versions are any better - I hear that the cab detail is at least a bit better! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I love this livery on these small tender engines. (Also, it's Robin from Jimmy the Jinty). Bullman always make a good performance. Nice review and I wish I had one in my collection
At long last, have 2 of these beauties with another on the way. See you’ve gotten one of the more common versions. She’s still around, you may know, better know as Blossom from Oh Doctor Beeching. Would also say the best livery is the maroon and crimson 46441 has worn over the years😉. It was a Bachmann limited model back in 2007. Has to be said my Ivatt 2s, despite the lack of bearings and 3 pole, still run a treat. Some really slow, smooth crawls out of both of them. And admittedly, had my LMS black one for years, never actually given it a proper service, still quite and like I said smooth, maybe I just got a really good one
Thanks a lot mate! Yes someone else mentioned this - I didn't know this was that one!! Yes mine runs reasonably well, if a tad noisy! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Very interesting to see a review of the Ivatt 2-6-0, particularly one numbered 45231 as this is a preserved example based at the GCR in Loughborough. :)
Had a couple of the Hornby ones, once in a while, which were lovely models actually and I regret selling them now. Having seen the Bachmann one I thought I’d maybe get one so this review is very welcome. Listening with interest. Price seems steep.......I think those pieces will be packing pieces, originally.
Hi there Sam! You’ve reactivated my interest in OO scale! I went out yesterday and brought Hornsby’s Late BR Britannia - ANZAC mentioned in your Hornby release update. It was the last in stock & off the shelf display model., A$ 30_ off mint unboxed version. You know Sam ,I think getting an x-display loco is a bit like getting an x-demo automobile- you’d wouldn’t know who handled it beforehand. Sure enough I found the tiny whistle in the bottom of the box 😟! Nevertheless I have always craved having a Britannia and despite the damage I’m pleased with the model & reduced price. Great review as always & looking forward to more- David 👍👍
Very glad to hear that David - glad you were able to find a Britannia - they all disappeared quite quickly over here! Sorry to hear of the minor damaged - but it still sounds a good bargain! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam, will you ever do a complete collection video? Like with all the engines, and rolling stock? I'm an American looking to start a collection would like to see some various items that I may want. I also just want to see the unreal amount of trains you have!
Yeah! I did one last year - look up the collection video for 2018! I will be doing more this year, but I'm having to split it into 3 videos! :O Thanks for watching - Sam :)
As a matter of fact, this loco No. 46521 (as carried the Named "Blossom") is appears on BBC Television was intro begins…’Oh, Doctor Beeching!’ at (Hartley) Arley Station on the Severn Valley Railway.
This particular locomotive is very desirable; 46521 "Blossom" appeared in a television show, and it also had a derailment on the Great Central Railway. The BR green on it is very sublime, but it's a shame that it isn't as good as it looks in terms of the mechanical components.
Great video Sam, just a little point of interest. The real-life No. 46521 is preserved and appeared in the TV show "Oh Doctor Beeching", Written by Richard Spendlove and Dad's Army's David Croft. Starring Paul Shane, Jeffrey Holland and Su Pollard. Just thought I'd share that little nugget of information.
Good review Sam. But speaking of Bachmann, I had a pre-order from Hattons for some new Bachmann and Scenecraft items cancelled today (07/08/19) because there is apparently an issue between the two companies and Bachmann are apparently not supplying any Upcoming New Stock to them. I've managed to re-preorder my items with Rails of Sheffield thankfully. It seems that only Hattons is affected by this. I thought I'd give you a heads up incase you had anything on pre-order from them and incase it makes for August News. All the best, Mark
Hey Sam, loved the video! It’s your good o’l friend MrTop5! I really like the Ivvat Class Locomotive! Probably my favorite Small tender engine. -MrTop5
What a review Sam, excellent stuff. Certainly an awful lot of money for what you get! Not to everyone's taste but I do like Ivatt/2MTs though. Thanks once again.
Sam I agree with your rating it is what I always say about Bachmann they do not give good value for what they barge .I have a box of Bachmann engines that are junk they need a lot of work. Since I have been watching you and have purchased Hornsby and Oxford trains I have once again enjoy my hobby. Thanks Sam trains.
Thanks a lot Louis - yeah I would agree with that - and you're right, they do have a tendency to break down - I know this from my servicing business! Appreciate your kind words mate, Cheers, Sam :)
Hey sam that piece at minute 4 goes between the loco and tender as a sorta filler piece while packed away and love the locoi got one in LMS black but the BR green locos are swindon built class 2 standards for the western region
I remember when I got my ivatt 2MT tender engine. It was Christmas 2018 if I’m right... and I was excited. Till I found out that a rod came loose in the box when I took it out
Great video Sam I've been wondering you've very recently started reviewing American locomotives but would you review locos from other countries like France, Germany, Italy etc
The Ivatt Class 2 are very beautiful. I wish it had the Swedish state railways black color whith Yellow lettering. But i love the BR green color. 👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊
Here’s a fun fact Sam the Flying Scotsman and the ivatt class used to do double headers on passenger trains back in the olden days until the diesel time
It Looks Good, Thanks For Reviewing The Engine Sam. Now I’ll Have To Get One, I Was Thinking About It But I Was Hoping To See It Run First. Thanks Sam ~ Tyler.
The tank engine version of this very locomotive must have a spotless record. After all Arthur from Thomas and Friends is based is based on the tank engine version of the LMS Ivatt class 2MT.
Very beautiful locomotive, absolutely stunning! Just a quick question though... I have a request, can you do a tutorial on how to clean locomotives? I've tried many things
Thanks very much mate! You mean for cleaning the mechanism or the body work?? I do have videos for both, but not many for bodywork! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains You are very welcome :) and mainly the mechanisms! I've had a few locomotives have a bit of trouble going over track as they're a bit dirty but I'm unsure of how to clean them. Many thanks though!
Wow! That is a magnificent engine! Like Kenneth it's a shame it is so expensive and has bad mechanism D: And as always great video love your videos Sam! I'm also saving up money to make my own model railway :D But I'm not the richest person as you can se on my profile picture :/ but it doesn't matter. I hope you don't get tired of me commenting on your videos :) I also like how the buffers aren't glued on like the others! As always great video :)
Thanks very much Nikolas - and good luck saving for your own railway, that's awesome! Of course not, you feel free to comment as often as you like! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
A fine looking loco apart from the connection between loco and tender Sam, and with those square axle housings and high price, it's a no no from me....Excellent review as always....Bob
Hope Bachmann would produce better models, but to me the Ivatt 2MT still look nice. Btw the odd one out is the LMS Patriot in the siding in 27:33. Looked wonderful with the Pullman coaches.
Hi Sam, Very good review, as you say alot of money , for not a good product , what are they All playing at ,no one seems to make good model's anymore , All the Best Brian 🤗
the odd plastic parts almost look to be the remains of tender pick ups, like the flat round bit is the holder for the motor or pick the flat door with bits in looks to be the holder part and the steps are to hold it into the tender, seems like this is a british layland friday car cobbled up and rolled into the show room with bits missing or only just holding on, or having empty cans/rude things scribbed on parts when you pull it part
Great review of a beautiful steam loco. You have a nice green version of several available different liveries. But as brandnew loco she is too expensive with over 135 GBP because of a few quality and running issues.
Was gonna get one but now I'm just gonna stick to making my own, much safer as I have full control of the mechanism and can improve on these designs. At least it has some good parts to salvage. Are you planning to review the new Hornby Mixed Traffic DCC set coming out this year? (the one with the red 08 and the pannier)
I don’t know what your standards are but I have one and I think the mechanism is pretty decent (at least for my layout), plus mine was second hand with a rubbish DCC chip installed(which is what I believe the wires are for), and once removed performed better. As I say; as long as it works and doesn’t cut out it’s a good model. (I also have no idea why you keep harping on the difference of motor quality, they all work the same to me)
If you like it mate, that's absolutely fine - I just thought it should have been better for the price! Can you really not tell the difference between a good 5 pole motor and a nasty 3 pole one?! :O Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains defiantly not by running them, my layout is nowhere near flat yet most of mine run fine, some are a bit noisy and some are silent horses. The only one I have any real issues with is Hornby's Thomas; does that have a 3-poll? (also forgot to mention I got my Ivatt for 108 pounds[$176.12 C] which in my eyes knocks the value up a bit)
It looks like the previous owner has rewired those tender wires as mine was also a first run of these and certainly has no red wires or heat shrink between the locomotive and tender. It should be remembered that when the 2MT was released many moons ago Bachmann had just upgraded from split chassis locomotives, which is why I believe the tender pickups were never designed as this model was to use the split chassis from the 2MT tank. Bachmann were also beginning a bit of a price war with Hornby which eventually led to Hornbys much ridiculed 'design clever', and which resulted in some mechanical horrors from both manufacturers as they both tried to cut every conceivable cost...the Ivatt 4MT being another mixed bag, which could be then bought new and heavily discounted for £45 according to the price tag on mine. My 2MT was bought brand new for the princely sum of £58.99 from my now long closed local model shop. Quite why its now up at its current rrp is anyones guess, it really is not worth that much. Having said that, Hornby went several steps worse when they priced their old Airfix tooling 2P and 4F at £120, and the ancient Airfix Prairie was equally offensively priced. The less said about coach prices, the better!
Nope - the wiring definitely was that way from Bachmann - I've seen others that were the same! I get that features like that are supposed to cut the cost - and that's fine provided they do actually cut the cost! With RRPs like Bachmann's though, I consider it utterly unacceptable! Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I'm guessing they had different batches or lines of assembly which did things differently, mine has a single sleeve over 4 black wires, and I have to admit I've never noticed any with red wires on those I have come across at my local club over the years. I entirely agree that prices have gone well and truly out of hand. They did cut the cost, originally. Models like the gorgeous 3F and 4F when they were first available had a ridiculously low rrp of £56, but according to press releases from Bachmann some 5-6 years ago they stated that the Bachmann Branchline brand was losing their owner (Kader) some serious money, in much the same way Hornby are still losing money, and so they intended to raise prices 20% year on year for 5 years. Older models like the 2MT (both of them, in fact the tank engine is bordering on offensive) and new release coaches coming in at over £70(!!!) means that I am very picky in what I will and won't buy, I wish I'd never sold my Crab, because I refuse to pay even the second hand prices being asked nowdays. The trouble is, that with these increased prices, and Hornby are equally guilty for the utter rubbish they release from old ranges like the Lima and Airfix models means that second hand prices are also becoming prohibitively expensive.
good evening sam I love ivatts and this 2MT ivatt tender engine is a great looking model and I am thinking of getting one in BR black of hattons and I would rate this 8.72/10 because these models are some of my favourite models made by Bachmann and are you going to get a Hornby terrier Stepney soon and I love your videos and I hope for many more over summer from david
Hey David - thanks a lot for the comment mate - yeah I can certainly recommend it for a good price! I may try their Stepney one day, good idea! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I’ve just reassembled mine. It came in the new packaging and has no tender pickups and the service sheet still shows square holes in the chassis. The backhead is much improved though.
I bought this when it came out. It cost me £70, This loco is at the Great Central railway. It ran a while in the black livery then it was repainted in br green again.
The American Camel back loco has to be the odd one out! The Ivatt anything is not my cup of tea. Nor is the crab, but each to their own. But a good review!
The mechanism on this one is a real bag of nails. The one I have won't pull the skin off a rice pudding, although it is very pretty. Luckily I paid nowhere near full price.
Hey Sam one question how did you put a little light in the breakvan and was is hard or easy to do it? And P.S Happy New year 🎊🎆🎈😃 I hope this year is a bit better cheers 🍻 mate 🙂.
@SamsTrains I live in America and adore the MT-2 Ivatt, but I am torn between this model and the Hornby British Railways MT. First, as beautiful as the Hornby model is, I'm not sure I want to spend the premium price for a model that will stand out like a sore thumb against the probably ten or twenty year old Bachmann and Hornby models my dad and I bought on eBay and on vacations to the UK, not to mention the price of the Hornby model is outside of what I can afford from my current means or as a Christmas present. Second, while the Bachmann model's RRP at the time of the video may have £144.95, which is definitely too much, I think it is very much possible to buy one used on American eBay for around $100 including shipping, which is about £80. For context, my dad has already bought several Bachmann locomotives used on eBay and was happy enough with the Great Western Railway Prairie tank engine even when he had to fix the motor. Knowing that he was not bothered by having to deal with that performance issue, do you think the two of us would consider the Bachmann model to be worth £80/$100? Or would I be better off waiting for a later stage of life when I can afford the Hornby model, which, to be fair, also has it's performance issues.
(P.S. The username is a reference to the character Charmander from Pokémon. I should probably use my personal account for replying to non-Pokémon related videos, since people who are unfamiliar with Pokémon won't get the reference.)

Beautiful model Sam! Of the 7 preserved, the oldest one is the only one that hasn't run in preservation but it's currently under restoration!
Thanks a lot Ryno - ahh glad to hear they're restoring it!! :D

I’ve had a canvas picture of this exact loco from when I was 4. Very ebic.
A great video, as usual, nice that Bachmann added the history/blueprint.
Thanks mate! Yeah I liked that about it too! :D

28:11 that is one beautiful shot!
Thank you very much Kris!! :D
Cool an Ivatt 2-M-T tender engine 👍
Thanks Mo - hope you like it!! :D
I do besides some difficulties
I’ve got an early BR crest one which I’ve fitted lamps to (but they don’t work right) and an LMS black one. LMS black is my favourite livery. I’m about to drill more holes in the drawbar between the loco and tender to close the gap. I’ll be shortening the wires too.
Glad to hear you have one too - sorry about the lamps though!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks Russell - at least £70 is a bit more reasonable! I agree - the biggest issue is indeed the price :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
A nice review and In my opinion, I agree with what you said. A round axle in a square hole, there seems to be enough room there to fit a pair of brass bearings. Under Engineered is the way I would put it. Martin (Thailand)
Thanks Martin - and glad you agreed, there would have been plenty of space for a proper set of bearings inside there!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Me too mate - it looks great doesn't it?? Haha well spotted on Bullman!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks very much mate - yeah I've been hearing about that - I didn't know it was the GCR one at the time!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Had a couple of the Hornby ones, once in a while, which were lovely models actually and I regret selling them now. Having seen the Bachmann one I thought I’d maybe get one so this review is very welcome. Listening with interest. Price seems steep.......I think those pieces will be packing pieces, originally.
Yeah the Hornby ones are very lovely! Yes you're right - I'm fairly sure those were packaging!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
As a matter of fact, this loco No. 46521 (as carried the Named "Blossom") is appears on BBC Television was intro begins…’Oh, Doctor Beeching!’ at (Hartley) Arley Station
on the Severn Valley Railway.
This particular locomotive is very desirable; 46521 "Blossom" appeared in a television show, and it also had a derailment on the Great Central Railway. The BR green on it is very sublime, but it's a shame that it isn't as good as it looks in terms of the mechanical components.
Thanks Harrison - I've been hearing about that - really glad I was able to get the one from the TV show!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
another well done video sam. beautiful locomotive
Thanks so much mate!! :D
Idk if u saw it last time but thx for the youtube tips. Another great video
My pleasure mate, hope it helped! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Hi sam, good job on the review on the bachmann ivatt class 2
What interview?!?! :O
@@SamsTrains I meant review
HEY SAM’S TRAINS, THE IVATT’S WHISTLE LOOKS LIKE A NAIL
HAHA YEAH IT DOES A LITTLE, LOL!!
Thanks very much for this Ieuan - I didn't realise it was that one used in the show, that's fantastic!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Get to see you back Sam! That's A lovely loco
Thanks very much mate - glad you enjoyed this one! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Awesome video, I also have the bachmann Ivatt 2mt (46521) A few months ago I took it to a layout and ran it with suburban coaches :)
Thanks a lot mate - that sounds fantastic, bet that looked great!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
All the best,
Mark
Hi Mark, thanks a lot for the heads up! Yes it is only Hatton's affected unfortunately! :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hey Sam, loved the video! It’s your good o’l friend MrTop5! I really like the Ivvat Class Locomotive! Probably my favorite Small tender engine.
-MrTop5
Thanks very much mate - I'm a huge fan of these too!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I have the same model of that Ivatt 2MT and bought it 12 years ago for around £60 brand new.
That sounds good Rob - I'd say £60 is far more like it for this!!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
What a review Sam, excellent stuff. Certainly an awful lot of money for what you get! Not to everyone's taste but I do like Ivatt/2MTs though. Thanks once again.
Thanks so much Mike - yeah I agree! And I'm a big fan of the class too - lovely things!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Appreciate your kind words mate,
Cheers,
Sam :)
I hope that Bachmann will make the 2 M T's better and actually have tender pick ups
It would be great if they would - a brand new one would be awesome too! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Funny thing is, their N gauge 2MT does have tender pick-ups
Quality wise isn't as bad as the Heljan models you have brought. Especially the tango.
No it's certainly nowhere close to the Tango in terms of poor quality! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
That br green looks awesome on that model.
It really does - I love it!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hey sam that piece at minute 4 goes between the loco and tender as a sorta filler piece while packed away and love the locoi got one in LMS black but the BR green locos are swindon built class 2 standards for the western region
Yeah you're right - I discovered that later - how wasteful though! Very cool - thanks for letting me know! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I remember when I got my ivatt 2MT tender engine. It was Christmas 2018 if I’m right... and I was excited. Till I found out that a rod came loose in the box when I took it out
Ooh fantastic! Ahh sorry to hear that though :(
Great video Sam I've been wondering you've very recently started reviewing American locomotives but would you review locos from other countries like France, Germany, Italy etc
Thanks very much Ben - yeah I certainly would - I'm keeping an eye out for some! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
The Ivatt Class 2 are very beautiful.
I wish it had the Swedish state railways black color whith Yellow lettering.
But i love the BR green color.
👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊
I agree - lovely locos! It'd be very cool to see this in one of those liveries from overseas! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
@@SamsTrains I think that the Ivatt class is just beautiful.
You are welcome Sam
Brilliant locomotive and review Sam.
Thanks again mate! :D
Here’s a fun fact Sam the Flying Scotsman and the ivatt class used to do double headers on passenger trains back in the olden days until the diesel time
Thanks for the fun fact Jason - I didn't know this!! :O
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
It Looks Good, Thanks For Reviewing The Engine Sam. Now I’ll Have To Get One, I Was Thinking About It But I Was Hoping To See It Run First. Thanks Sam ~ Tyler.
Oh I was meant to ask earlier, what gauge track do you have? N Gauge, 00…?
My pleasure Tyler - hope you're able to find one! This is 00 gauge track!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam'sTrains thanks Sam, appreciated ~ Tyler
The tank engine version of this very locomotive must have a spotless record. After all Arthur from Thomas and Friends is based is based on the tank engine version of the LMS Ivatt class 2MT.
haha very much so!! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
A fine looking loco apart from the connection between loco and tender Sam, and with those square axle housings and high price, it's a no no from me....Excellent review as always....Bob
Cheers Bob - yep, worth steering clear of this one if you love good performers!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hope Bachmann would produce better models, but to me the Ivatt 2MT still look nice. Btw the odd one out is the LMS Patriot in the siding in 27:33. Looked wonderful with the Pullman coaches.
I agree with you - yeah they're still nice! And very well spotted - yeah she did actually, I should do that more! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
46521 was also filmed with at the Severn Valley Railway when they made the TV Series Oh Doctor Beeching. Excellent show
I've been hearing about this! I didn't know it was that one they used!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains Definitely watch it if you've never seen it it's a brilliant show.
Hi Sam, Very good review, as you say alot of money , for not a good product , what are they All playing at ,no one seems to make good model's anymore , All the Best Brian 🤗
Thanks very much Brian - yeah far too expensive for me this one :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
the odd plastic parts almost look to be the remains of tender pick ups, like the flat round bit is the holder for the motor or pick the flat door with bits in looks to be the holder part and the steps are to hold it into the tender, seems like this is a british layland friday car cobbled up and rolled into the show room with bits missing or only just holding on, or having empty cans/rude things scribbed on parts when you pull it part
haha yeah they do actually - fairly sure it was just part of the packaging though!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I literally got one of these last month for £60 and it’s fantastic
I’ve not had a problem with mine either
For £60, that's much better - glad you're happy with it! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Excellent work Sam! :D
Thanks Kameron! :D
BR green looks best on this engine, but I love GWR green.
Not saying this should be gwr colours, but that’s just my fav
Oh yeah I love GWR green too!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Great review of a beautiful steam loco. You have a nice green version of several available different liveries. But as brandnew loco she is too expensive with over 135 GBP because of a few quality and running issues.
Thanks very much Norbert - and agreed, it's no good for that price!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
That sounds much better mate - good luck with it, hope it goes well!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I have one of these made by Hornby, it's much older than the one you have and it is in BR Green.
Yeah I know the ones - they are full of character though!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam'sTrains For sure and no problem.
I love the br standards I saw that model this week on bachmann branchline
Ooh nice - they're selling those too then??
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I forced my standard class 4's smoke box door open before. But your not the only one had that problem.
Ahh really?? Was that one not supposed to open either?! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
OMG I got one of them LMS Brake Vans with the working tail light for christmas one year, 19xx lol Lets just say it was a long long time ago!
Awesome Mike - haha!! ;D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I managed to zoom it in, and it actually says 1953 by the looks of it, even though production ended in 1952. A little confused, but still a great loco
Ahh okay, that's pretty cool! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
good evening sam I love ivatts and this 2MT ivatt tender engine is a great looking model and I am thinking of getting one in BR black of hattons and I would rate this 8.72/10 because these models are some of my favourite models made by Bachmann and are you going to get a Hornby terrier Stepney soon and I love your videos and I hope for many more over summer from david
Hey David - thanks a lot for the comment mate - yeah I can certainly recommend it for a good price! I may try their Stepney one day, good idea! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Cool, the exact model and road number as the IVATT used in Oh! Doctor Beeching series :-)
I wonder if there are Arnold and Ralph figures available
Yeah you're right! haha I haven't seen any! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I’ve just reassembled mine. It came in the new packaging and has no tender pickups and the service sheet still shows square holes in the chassis. The backhead is much improved though.
Ahh sorry to hear that Tom - it's not great is it?
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam'sTrains it’s still really pretty so I can forgive it quite a lot. And it was on a really good deal from Rails which helps as well.
I bought this when it came out. It cost me £70, This loco is at the Great Central railway. It ran a while in the black livery then it was repainted in br green again.
Blimey, £70 sounds much more reasonable for these - ahh yes I've seen the one at the GCR, very nice! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Ah, Barry the Rescue Engine
That odd thing in the box was to go between the loco and the tender, (I assume) when it was originaly packed at the factory.
Ahh you might be right there Mike, good thought!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
@@SamsTrains I did notice that you put it inbetween the tender and loco, just after I wrote my comment.
Sam at the start of the video: lt may run just perfectly!
Few minutes later: 🙄maybe not!
haha - I may have already known the outcome ;)

The American Camel back loco has to be the odd one out! The Ivatt anything is not my cup of tea. Nor is the crab, but each to their own. But a good review!
haha very well spotted - thanks for sharing your thoughts mate,

The mechanism on this one is a real bag of nails. The one I have won't pull the skin off a rice pudding, although it is very pretty. Luckily I paid nowhere near full price.
Yeah it is - not very impressed with these mechanically!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hey Sam one question how did you put a little light in the breakvan and was is hard or easy to do it? And P.S Happy New year 🎊🎆🎈😃 I hope this year is a bit better cheers 🍻 mate 🙂.
Ooh yeah! I could maybe do a tutorial on it some time!! :D
Happy New Year - Sam :)
The plastic bits... One goes in front of the smoke box, and the other two are to go between loco & tender for shipping
Yeah you're right - I figured it out in the end! How wasteful though! xD
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
You can find one of these at the engine house at highley train station
Ooh really?? I'll have to visit one day!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I love the Ivatt class 2 and I heard that at the east Lancashire railway they are doing a overhaul on a ivatt class 2
