So glad you’re doing another Chris Rea. He’s one of my all time favorites. Gorgeous voice…it makes your soul tremble. He’s popular in Europe but unfortunately not that popular in the U.S. He’s also an excellent guitarist.
There were several releases of "On the Beach" with varying tempos. I recommend the slower tempo as found on the release for Rea's Japanese fans. But it is awesome regardless of the speed.
Love Chris Rea with his gravelly voice and unique guitar style, and a really good songwriter. This is an excellent song and similar to a On the Beach or Fool if you think its over. For a more uptempo one from him Lets Dance is great.
What's amazing about Chris is that he didn't learn to play the guitar until he was 28 years old. Such a late start in music. "Josephine" is another big song for him.
He is amazing .I have been so lucky to have seen him live in concert twice . I really don’t think he will be fully appreciated until he dies . Like so many unappreciated and super talented artists . Then everyone wants to say how much they enjoyed them . I hope he has so many good years ahead of him .
Oh yes, on the road to Chris Rea. Only scratched the surface and so much to discover. The journey has begun. I've been a fan since '93 !! You must hear "Julia", "Soft Top, Hard Shoulder", "Auberge", "On the Beach", "Steel River", "Nothing's Happening by the Sea", "Cenotaph/Letter from Amsterdam"
This man has sooooooooo many great songs I don't think Fool If You Think it's over is his standout, but like all his songs, it's worth a listen for sure. The most excited I have been on this channel CHRIS REA is essential for Life
I remember Fool If You Think It's Over when I was in my early teens and have loved it ever since, On the Beach is another favorite of mine. Chris has such a calming voice.
Chris is one of my all time go to smooth chill laid back music to just play on a hot summer's day sitting on our deck watching the Pacific Ocean at our doorstep. This is probably number 4 on my all time favourites from Him, "Driving Home For Christmas", "Waiting For The Summer", "Fool If You Think It's Over" and then this. I do hope you get back to more Chris rea very soon. Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🦘🦘🎶🎶🎶🎶💖💖💖💖
As he got older he delved more into the blues.Unfortunately due to illness he dosent perform anymore. There are some of his concerts on utube and they are well worth a look.
I Have listened to Chris rea for over 30 years. you will find anything he does is fabulous. listen to on the Beach and if you like road to hell you will love Texas
This is gorgeous - thank you for reacting to it, as I had never heard it. My favorite song of his is "On The Beach"... which might be another Summer Song for you. But like others have said "Fool If You Think It's Over" was his biggest hit back in the 1970s.
If you appreciate Chris' deep gravelly voice then his song "On the Beach", the fast version, is a must. I am convinced you will both be glad you heard it.
Oh man, Chris Rea is one of my favourite artists, has been since the 80’s. please check out Stainsby Girl and Steel River, in my opinion two of his best songs. His live version of Stainsby Girl is an absolute classic. His combination of whiskey smooth voice and incredible guitar playing are unmatched! Please do more reactions of his music.
Man, Chris Rea has some great music. Just pick any of the recommendations or throw a dart at a list and you'll enjoy it. And they are all unique. You certainly won't get tired of same--sounding songs.
This is the Best song you have ever done on your channel it is a deep cut and a lot of people don't know it as it was Not a Top 40 Hit, so its the first time hearing it as well for Them Too. Fool if you think its over is a good song but it was his only charting song in the USA. That's why so many people pick it as they don't really know his Vast music Catalog at all. *** Set Me Free is another Great Song *** A Deep Cut with Great Melody and Piano and Guitar
There must be something in the water of NE England, Chris Rea and Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) play and sound so similar. ✌️By the way originally from the same area meself ✌️
I bumped into Chris Rea once, walking a dog. "Hello," I said, "I really love your music. And I bet I can guess the name of your dog." "Well, you can try," he said. "But fool if you think it's Rover." 😊 Halloween music, indeed. What Chris can convey is love and heat and lust, and loneliness too, not fear. Though incidentally 'Nothing To Fear' is a great song. This was an interesting choice. On the Auberge album it comes after 'Looking For the Summer', which is one of my very favourite songs ever. This one is a bit middling, great guitar of course, but I'd say it's one I wouldn't listen to often. I'm just so glad that this channel has woken up to Chris, my second favourite artist and that's only by a smidgeon. And we had T'Pau just the other day. I can still hope for Nik Kershaw, Lighthouse Family, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and a few others I have wished for over the last year! For the next Chris Rea you should listen to the title track of this album, 'Auberge' - a really upbeat rocker with a catchy, brassy riff.
@@JOSEPHHUNT-ip2ti The choice is almost endless. Windy Town is awesome, and Steel River, Ace of Hearts, Candles. But I've said this here before, I think my very favourite is 'Curse of the Traveller'. Followed by 'Looking for the Summer'. Followed by 'On the Beach/Little Blonde Plaits/Giverny' (which always feel to me like one long song, or a mini concerto of heat, dust and desire).
If you want to hear Chris' slide guitar playing at it's best & his voice at it's gravelliest, check out - "Til The Morning Sun Shines On My Love And Me'' (Birmingham Symphony Hall), You will thank me.
Chris Rea has a unique voice. Please react to his song "Diamonds". It's a much more upbeat song, but still has plenty of gravel in his voice. A real toe-tapper.
Chris Rea was brought up in Middlesbrough in North East England. His father was Italian and when he arrived in England he opened up a ice cream parlour called Reas. Chris worked there when he was young and according to him he spent his time practising with a guitar. His first hit in England was called Fool If You Think It's Over which reached number 2 in the Charts. I saw him first when I was 17 when he played in a nightclub called Philmores in a seaside town called Saltburn ( Where I was born ) There was about 200 people there that night not the 1000's he plays to now. He is firmly into blues music now and his probably one of the best slide guitarists from the UK shores. Chris has been really lucky surviving Pancreatic Cancer but still has to take up to 25 different pills a day to stay alive. It has never dampened his love of music.
I first heard this song when it was used as the background music for a UA-cam video some years ago. I dont why, but I wept like a baby. 😂 Thanks for reacting to it. 👍🏾
Chris Rea does indeed play the slide guitar. The special thing about him is that he is self-taught. He copied his favorite artists he heard on the radio and practiced until he got the same sound. He was so into his playing that his family would often find him in a corner of the house with his guitar (when he should actually be working in the family business). I could listen to Chris Rea's songs for hours and also his interviews. He seems such a nice, down-to-earth man.
An unexpected choice (showing how a random album track can still be as good as a single release!) For something more poppy there's Let's Dance or Auberge. For something raw and emotional, try Tell Me There's A Heaven - you will cry! For something theatrical, try Girl In A Sports Car!
Interesting pick, I know Chris Rea‘s music, but this one I probably skipped.😅 „On the beach“ (chilling) „Working on it“ (powerful, uptempo) „Fool if you think it’s over“ and many more were hits in Europe. Love to hear more of him.🤩
Looking for the summer, Datona, on the beach, fool if you think it's over... you still have a ways to go down this amazing rabbit hole!! Keep up the awesome reviews!
I have all his music, I think I told you, so this is my genre, and if you like this, then check out Auberge, Let's Dance, Looking For The Summer, Blue Cafe, but please keep enjoying him. 😊
Such a great and varied song list from Chris Rea, but try "Gone Fishing" with meaningful lyrics, "God's Great Banana Skin" and his string bending sultry "Nothing To Fear" of which there is a super video in Swiss mountains. Glad someone has found him to react to, look forward to more
All time great radio hit It makes you want to turn it up and sing along the greatest compliment to a well crafted song , memorable (1978). Along with Alison Moyet ("Invisible") Paul Young and Paul Weller's Style Council was a nice UK blue eyed soul wave
The all round talent that is Chris Rea. Hard to beat. Ok Jay and Amber, as a disabled man this is the wrong move for me as I won't be able to get up until my carers come in the morning. But, I'm on my knees asking you to react to Gary Moore - Parisienne Walkways Live.
A similar sounding voice that I believe you would love is Terry Stafford. He was an Oklahoma boy who had a big hit in 1964 called " Suspicion". It reached number 1 in New York City.
If you like Chris Rea's voice, then you guys will love Leonard Cohen! Check out ""Hallelujah" (yes, the original), "Dance Me to the End of Love", "Closing Time", "Bird On a Wire" and so many more from this great Canadian artist.
I love Chris Rea and you guys for your awesome reactions!I can propose also another Chris Rea's song,"The course of the traveller"(prefer the video with the extended version, together with"Josie's tune"intro),and of course, the official video of my beloved AWESOME song"Nothing to fear".
Chris Rea can do anything & do it well...for me, he's like Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits meets Bryan Ferry & Sade...i collect his stuff & he has a deep catalogue!!

"Tell Me There's a Heaven". I cry every time.
This is the type of emotive guitar playing that I really enjoy. Chris Rea, David Gilmore and Gary More can make the guitar cry.
True!
And Mark Knopfler Brothers in arms..
They certainly can although sadly Gary is no longer with us.😢😢😢😢😢😢
"On the beach" is a great song of his. Massive hit
There were several releases of "On the Beach" with varying tempos. I recommend the slower tempo as found on the release for Rea's Japanese fans. But it is awesome regardless of the speed.
his best one

"Josephine" is another big song for him.
Girl in a sports car, just fabulous. When the grey skies turn to blue, just amazingly emotional. 2 of my favourites for very different reasons
"On the beach" And "Fool if you think it's over" - 2 massive hits! A must hear 🔥
He is amazing .I have been so lucky to have seen him live in concert twice . I really don’t think he will be fully appreciated until he dies . Like so many unappreciated and super talented artists . Then everyone wants to say how much they enjoyed them . I hope he has so many good years ahead of him .
Another favorite one of mine of his "Looking For The Summer"
Can never have enough Chris he is the greatest ever
Stainsby Girls is my favourite Chris Rea song. Takes me right back!

love his voice from the first time i heard it back in the day. Great hit was "Looking for the Summer" also "Auberge" witty film clip

Auberge, Julia and Josephine
"Fool if you think it's over" is my favorite. Wrote it for his sister.
His sister Dia?
The original from his 1978 album is great! His remake on Spotify is not as good.
His younger sister, never heard her name. She'd just gone through a breakup.
@@johnsexton2200 Fool If You Think It's Over has been suggested so many times, I'm surprised they went with any other song from him.
That's the only song I know of his. I'm glad they are doing his other songs since I'd never heard them before!
That guitar is mystical and hypnotic!
so beautiful bluesy pop
He’s well known as one of the Masters of Slide Guitar
As he got older he delved more into the blues.Unfortunately due to illness he dosent perform anymore. There are some of his concerts on utube and they are well worth a look.
Many ,many years on and whenever I hear that amazing famiar voice ,sound od Chris Rea's, I think .Yes!!
I said Texas -she said What?
I Have listened to Chris rea for over 30 years. you will find anything he does is fabulous. listen to on the Beach and if you like road to hell you will love Texas
This is from his album "Auberge" (1991). Also from this album is "Red Shoes", which I think is kinda fun. I dig this whole album.
And the title track & Looking For the Summer & Gone Fishing...his stuff is timeless, never gets old...
In addition to his great voice, Chris is a brilliant, though underrated, guitarist, especially his slide playing
This is gorgeous - thank you for reacting to it, as I had never heard it.

Mississippi 2 by Chris Rea is so bluesy 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Don't forget Chris Rea Driving home for Christmas. My all time favorite Christmas song.
"Fool if you think it's over" was his biggest hit.
Only in the US. He had a few number ones elsewhere including his home country in the UK
Fool If You Think Its Over is my favorite by him and a real good song.
Seriously underrated bass!
Shirley Bassey & Chris Rea - Shirley Do You Own A Ferrari ? A true pop diamond!!!!
Next you must listen to him singing "Texas" and "Fool If You Think It's Over"
Chris Rea: Girl in a sports car and its all gone live 1988 are gigantic Songs
"Texas" is a classic!

Having daughters I think you'll like Chris's Jsephne and Julia, written for his two daughters
I so love that you were listening to Chris Rea and you haven't even heard the best yet❤
Sweet summer day is also very underrated song of his
Chris Rea =Total class
His song “Heaven” has a beautiful chord progression and some sweet slide guitar…
Fool If You Think It’s Over and Texas are my favorites. The fact that he’s British and nailed the lyrics in the song Texas is like wow.
Which Texas?? He has two different songs called Texas actually...
@@lawrencedavis4406 Warm winds blowing heat and blue skies and roads that go on forever. And he plays a wicked slide in it.

❤let's dance by this fabulous singer
amazing song, amazing performer....he sounds as if he is french....
Hello to you guys…. I enjoy this song, never heard this before….
Fool If You Think It's Over is my favorite...
A couple of his earlier songs l love are Winning and the slightly unusual Bombollini from a rarely mentioned album Wired to the Moon.
Summer's coming, I suggest "On the Beach". It's a great tune.
He is an incredible guitar player. You need to listen to Fool if you think it's over !!
Chris Rea is one of the best, his bluesy feel is so soothing, try listening to On the Beach or Til the Morning Sun Sines

He reminds me of the great French singer, Serge Gainsbourg. You guys need to listen to him. Rea almost CERTAINLY has to know who Serge was.
At the time (in 1969, pun intended) Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin released their song "Je t'aime... moi non plus", his name was widely known. some great albums by Chris Rea after his 'On the beach' album
