One of the most beautiful songs ever. Hard to imagine it was written by a 25 year old. Today is the one year anniversary of losing my beautiful, kind and selfless mother and I literally am crying listening to this song.
Me too. Been a favourite of mine since I first heard it in my early teens. Now I am turned 70 the words are so much more meaningful as the years have slipped by, and I remember all the people who have been in my life (some briefly, and some for years) and those who are no longer around.
I've played in Beatles cover band since my teen years, I'm in my late 70s now. With many of my band mates have already gone on their long trips and these music still means everything to me. Makes me so happy to watch both of you digging their music, you guys are so beautiful and so true to your soul. ❤️❤️ Send lots of love from Thailand 🥰🥰
No one will ever surpass the Beatles, just hearing the opening bars of this song makes me cry. They changed our lives, they were the greatest song writers ever. I just love Rubber Soul, my brothers bought me the album for Christmas when I was like 14.
My parents were not huggers or kissers, even with us kids, though we knew we were loved. I will never forget when they came to visit me in college and I "took" them to lunch (Dad paid) were there was an acoustic guitarist singing on the patio. He played this song and all of the sudden my parents were holding hands and my Mom was blushing like a teenager. I was floored but loved seeing them with stars in their eyes.
What a sweet story and an even sweeter memory for you! My parents did not display their emotions or feelings much either. My dad did for a short period of time after he almost did not survive a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm and after he came home, he would get teary eyed and sentimental but as time went on, he became his old grumpy self again. Funny how music can take you back to a time and place. Great comment!
My parents were the same, I only saw them kiss once and that was because I sneaked a peak. All that has changed and we are huggers now, that's progress for us anyway, Thanx for reminding me of that.
@@connieb4372 I just realized the song took me back to that moment at lunch while the song took my parents back to a moment in their life even further back, so we piggy backed time travel.
Actually a lot. His dad left him when he was a young child, his Uncle that helped raised him dies of a heart attack, just a few years prior to this song being written his Mom is killed by a drunk off duty police officer when he ran her over with his car. In the early Beatles days, their original bass player Stuart dies suddenly. Paul's mother had died about 10 years prior, so yes John at a young age had already seen a lot come and go in his short lifetime.
@@BrightStone-production for the first five years of his life, John's dad was on a merchant ship hauling the arsenal of democracy across an ocean to defeat the third reich and came home to find John's mom pregnant with another man's baby, so he slapped her around and left for good while John was watching it all go down when he was 5 or 6. He showed up again when his son hit the big time but they had an on again-off again relationship depending on John's moods and sobriety or lack thereof. He actually recorded a demo in the US in 1966 that his son used as the chord structure for Imagine. George Smith, John's uncle, died of a liver hemorrhage when John was away in Scotland visiting his maternal grandparents and some cousins when he was 15. He's buried in the churchyard where John and Paul met each other. Mary McCartney died about two years before Julia Lennon of metastatic breast cancer. The police officer who struck and killed Julia within two years of George Smith's passing was not driving drunk and the accident was not his fault. Sutcliffe left the lineup of the Beatles on New Year's Day 1962 and died on the 10th of April of a brain bleed, which some have speculated started a few days earlier from a head injury inflicted during a street fight.
Lennon was confronted with so much pain as a child losing his dad who left him and his mom's tragical death all the hurt made him more insightful more conscious of Life in its totality ❤
I love how this song touches upon nostalgia without drowning in it. John Lennon's voice comes across as unapologetically vulnerable. I can't help but tear up every time I listen to it.
This was one of my and my wife's wedding songs. It's perfect for us, not only because she is a big Beatles fan, but also because we were both middle-aged and previously married when we met. We both have had our share of previous relationships. This is a beautiful song about how there will always be people who meant something to you, who will always mean something to you, but will never mean as much to you as your one true love. It's amazing to think that John Lennon wrote this when he was only about 25. It is such a mature perspective.
I think you'll find the older you get, the sweeter (or more bittersweet) this song becomes. We live life, we make memories, we celebrate milestones and we suffer loss. By the time you're up around my age (60-ish) or older, it becomes increasingly difficult to listen to this song and those like it without it touching all those places in the heart all at once. It brings smiles and it brings tears, often at the same time. Thanks for continuing the tradition! God bless!
I feel like so many people, both in the video and the comments, are missing the real point of this song: no matter who or what I have loved before and still love, I will always love you more. It's a song about how we all have special people and special moments in our lives, but if we're lucky, there's one that far outshines the rest. That's who this song is being sung to.
I can understand people who say they don't like The Beatles but I will never understand people who say The Beatles are overrated or they weren't any good. The Beatles were genius, pure and simple. The way they transformed their sound in the space of just a few year is remarkable.
@@gaizkasalazar6948 People have different opinions and different tastes, I can't think of a single thing in the world that all 8 billion people agree on
Rubber Soul is one of the greatest albums ever made. It really buttoned up their previous poppy older tunes and opened up the door to their true talents and started their journey to their most expressive music. It holds a special place in my heart.
Thank you! The Beatles came to America in 1963-64. I was in Junior high. How cute except after a while your parents loved them so much it was well...there was so many other musical styles going on I drifted off to Motown, the Beach Boys, R&B....and then RUBBER SOUL BROUGH ME BACK TO THE BEATLES.
This is an example of why The Beatles are so special to so many people. This is another example of the depth and meaning that they could pack into a song lasting only 2:26. In this song, John Lennon perfectly evoked the memory of a place and time for us all to enjoy and identify with.
@@matthewhudson5685 I almost replied and said they couldn't do a bad song, but then I remembered "Wild Honey Pie" and "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" so never mind. The Beatles are so talented they can do bad songs too. 🤔
@@zakmartin Agreed and I always like the older Beatles songs more than The White album on. You can tell John Lennon wrote most of the lyrics and McCartney wrote the music/medleys by what Wings came out with. Remember an interview where John was not happy with Paul and John's comment was "all I have to say is Oh-Blah-De Oh-Blah-Da"
When The Beatles collection was finally available on Spotify, I listened to the entire discography in chronological order. It’s amazing how quickly they evolved. In just over seven years, they released 13 albums and more than 200 songs. No artist is more important than The Beatles.
I just started doing the same last night at work. I've heard all their albums, but never in chronological order, and you're right, the evolution of their music in their short recording career is absolutely incredible.
Not only does this song take you down memory lane, but it's ultimately a love song. He says, "But of all these friends and lovers, there's no one compares with you." and "In my life, I love you more."
I cry every time I hear this. I’ve lost so many people in my lifetime and it hurts. The love is never gone but the memories remain. In my life I’ve loved them all…✌🏻🤘🏻
When my daughter got married, she chose this song for us to have the "Daddy/Daughter" dance at the post wedding reception. I teared up big time. In fact, I'm tearing up as I type this.
I can remember my mother calling me to tell me to sit down. I asked why and she repeated to sit down,so I did. Then she said John Lennon had been shot. I sat there and was so sick to my stomach. I hung up the phone and couldnt even cry I was so crushed. Empty and blank. I just sat there for how long I dont remember. Then,I felt the tears coming and I cried my guts out.
There was a big condolence card for John at Tower Records in Tacoma after John was murdered. I wrote the lyrics to this song to him for the rest of us.
Watching Amber tearing up during the last verse made me do the same. A very melancholy song that makes so many of us think about those "people and things that went before".
There's a whole other layer to the song that I think is often missed. He is talking to one specific person. And as he recalls all the people, places, and things he remembers that have touched his life.. he wants this person to know that as much as it all means to him... that in his life, he loves them above all the others. A very touching sentiment. ❤
I had a hard time believing that I could have such feelings for one person in a relatively short period of time. I believed even less that new love could overshadow a lifetime of history, love and memories. Then, I met my wife and this song became my favorite Beatles song again, but for different reasons. Love it!
Man, John Lennon was such a unique, extraordinary musical talent. They don't come along too often. But when they do: BAM! Then Paul: BAM. Then George: BAM. And the Ring Man: BAM! BAM! BAM! What a group!
@@rnw2739 Yep. You're right. Anyone with massive charisma, charm, and lovability, like Ringo had. Oh, and the brilliant talent of giving a song a unique voicing and style to back it and fit in it just perfectly.
This and “The Long and Winding Road” are my two favorite Beatles songs. I’ve been waiting for y’all to get to this one! At this point in my life, it is more meaningful than ever.
Rubber Soul is that bridge album. It's really at the crossroads of the Beatles career. It expresses a maturity that belies their age at the time. This song really encapsulates that album very well. And I also have to admit, Rubber Soul is one extremely wonderful sound expression. It's a beautiful sounding album. Much better sounding than most albums today with a lot less technology then.
Rubber Soul & Revolver were definitely that wonderful transition period for me ~ on Parlaphone they were released as one album ~ to this day I can still spend a day getting lost in them
I wouldn't argue with that but there were always a few of their songs that were a bit different to the standard boy/girl type songs typical of the time on all of their albums, right back at the beginning with a song like There's A Place.
Hi guys, you make me smile, you have such good tastes in music, I am 73 years old and grew up with the Beatles. I don’t know if you have heard this but one of my favourite songs by the Beatles is ‘ Day in the life’ give it a listen. All the best.
They packed so many great songs into only 8 years. Ringo lead vocals My favorite With A Little Help From My Friends this is the original, Yellow Submarine are the two best with Ringo singing. Don't Pass Me By, Octopus's Garden he wrote and sang. And Act Naturally.
The Beatles were more than a musical group. There were social icons who changed and influenced all of the society around them who watched everything they did and followed their lead. They completely changed the culture overnight forever. Music and words were just their vehicles.
Amber is crying. This song always brings a tears of sadness and happiness to my eyes. It was played in the Imagine documentary about John Lennon. I saw it in a theater a few blocks away from where he was murdered. Everyone in the theater was crying.😢
This song has so much meaning to me. At my wedding in 2011, I chose this song to dance with my Mom, as she is a HUGE Beatles fan and my father had just passed a month earlier, so it was very emotional for us. Watching both of you react to this song brought back that dance. Tears of sadness and fond memories of my Dad. Thank you.❤
Thank you for sharing that story, my son is getting married this coming September, this will also be our mother/son dance. My mother passed away last November so yes I can also relate to the emotion behind the words, I’m hoping to get through the song without being a total mess, it really is a happy occasion ❤
As I got older, my Mom, Dad, and favorite uncles passed🥺; I greatly valued this song. Every time I listen to this song, the tears fall. I sincerely appreciated Jay and Amber's reactions and comments. You're a beautiful couple🥰. I love you forever.
The more I listen to this song, the more I believe it’s one of their best. Such an emotionally mature, beautiful song. Isn’t it amazing to see it touch you. Really enjoyed your reaction and commentary.
This song shows the growth of the four of them in terms of their outlook on life, their artistry, their skills as musicians and composers, and their status as the greatest of recording artists. Hard to get much closer to perfection.
My all time favorite song by The Beatles! My husband passed away in 2020 but I would always tell him this is my song to you because in my life I loved him more❤️
Because John Lennon at 25 years old had lived a lot already: a mother dead when he was teen, a really good friend dead when he was 20... and so on. With this grounding you've winned the right to write songs like this.
My favorite all time Beatles song! So excited when I saw you all were reacting to it! Glad you all loved it!❤ For Ringo…With A Little Help From My Friends and Yellow Submarine would be excellent ones to react to! Those were 2 of his songs he sang lead with The Beatles along with several others.
I raised my 14 year old son in The Beatles. We played nothing but in utero and he came out the Womb not being able to relax unless some Beatles was playing. So while listening to Sgt Pepper on the radio the other day I randomly asked him what is his favorite Beatles album. Without hesitation, he let me know: "Rubber Soul. Duh!"
This song highlights how perfect Ringo was for the Beatles. He always played for the song and created iconic, instantly recognizable drum parts like this one.
For decades, folks said of Ringo that he wasn't a great drummer. They were all wrong, too, because they judged him on "technical merit", not quality of performance. There are plenty of videos by drummers taking down that misconception, and they tell it better than I can, with the exception that Ringo's left-handed, but played on a right-handed kit setup, which also throws off the technicality folks, because that can't sound the same, apples-potatoes.
@@ronin4580 Well said, and I say much the same about Harrison. He wasn't a god of technical skills, but he could always find the right sound for a song. No more, but absolutely no less.
I love everything by the Beatles, but the Rubber Soul and Revolver albums, and every track on them are closest to my heart. SO much personal nostalgia! 👍👍💙💙
I was five years old in February 1964. My teenaged sister made me watch the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. I heard all of their incredible music through her, a true Beatlemaniac. On her last day, I played Beatles music for her for hours in the hospice as friends and family came to say goodbye. In the evening, when it was just the two of us, I played Rubber Soul and held her hand. The last Beatles song she heard was In My Life. She passed seconds after it ended.
To me this is one of the best songs ever written. It really shows Lennon's growth as a song writer. How about some early Beatles with Ringo? "Act Naturally' or 'With a Little Help From My Friends' spring to mind. Cheers.
My absolute favorite Beatles song. One that makes this old man tear up thinking of the people that has left us, and the new people that have come into your life.
Your reaction is very sincere and authentic, it's beautiful to see how this sweet lyrics still touch many hearts when listening for the first time. I shared Ringo's songs by email, here they are again, 'Good night', 'Octopus's Garden', 'If You've Got Trouble', 'With A Little Help From My Friends', 'Act naturally', 'Boys', 'I wanna be your man', 'Honey Don't', 'What goes on', 'Yellow submarine', 'Don't pass me by', 'Matchbox', it's outstanding for a drummer to have contributed with all of these songs, which is not very common.
Please continue back into the earlier Beatles. There are some amazing masterpieces hidden there. This is so beautiful, the harmonies, the instrumentation and heart grabbing sentiments in this song are etched in my mind forever. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️ ❤️ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
This was a staple of high school graduation ceremonies in the 70's and 80's. We sang it at mine, and my sister's class it at hers. When John gets sweet, it's always bittersweet. I think you'd really like their song "When I'm 64", another sweet love song and one that highlights the difference between John and Paul, whose love songs were often innocently sweet without any darkness. As to Ringo, "Octopus's Garden" is quite lovely.
For Ringo songs: Octopus's Garden is such a beautiful song with a message and a vibe I think you two would love (then again, that's true for most every song of theirs). George also helped him write it, so, I think it made that song a little more special with their unique styles combining. More popular songs of his, and just as great, are With A Little Help From My Friends and Yellow Submarine, but I think Octopus's Garden is an underrated gem. Remember, though, Ringo was the drummer and not the most often lead singer for reasons, haha, but his charm, character, and talent gives his vocals a special aspect that can't be quantified. ❤❤❤❤
I sang this song for my parents' 25th anniversary. Had to do it over the phone because we lived in different cities. Still brings a warm love to my heart, as they're both now gone. I'm tearing up right now.❤️ It is my favorite song by the Beatles, and I love them all.
One of the most memorable and one of the best songs ever written and sung. Great song. To think they wrote this song in their early 20's at such a young age. The song means much more as your get older. This song will be forever played somewhere.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. It affects most of us the way that it did you, especially Amber. A deeply emotional song for so many, it touches the soul. Ringo does sing a few, Yellow Submarine, Octopus's Garden, Goodnight, and a fave from the early days, Honey Don't.
Ringo sang “With a little help from my friends” It comes right out of “Sgt. Pepper’s lonely hearts club band” sung by Paul. Those 2 songs from the Sgt. pepper album should be listened to together in order.
Agreed. You have to listen to both (Sgt. Pepper followed immediately by With A Little Help From My Friends). Too many people separate them, which ruins one of the all-time great transitions in Rock-n-Roll history.
George Martin played that solo on a piano at a slower tempo, played it back at speed and got that harpsichord sound. Genius. He absolutely was "The fifth Beatle.
Sir George said the reason he did that, was that he wrote this two-part invention like a Bach piece, but couldn't play it as fast as the song required. So he recorded it at half speed, then doubled the tape speed during mixing. He did this all when the Beatles had gone out to eat, and when they got back he played it for John, and John loved it.
For any musicians, this song has the classic Lennon chord sequence going from major to minor on the IV chord leading back to the I. He used this device in quite a few of his songs and it’s particularly moving in this one - his falsetto “in my life” over the minor IV at the end is beautiful. RIP John.
This song 🎶 rings close to my heart . My oldest daughter’s wedding song for the father/ daughter dance . Brings such tears of happiness for me personally. This tune is one of John Lennon’s masterpieces.❤😊
I once heard someone describe the special phenomenon of The Beatles was that they were truly loved all over the world and by multiple generations. So for a relatively short period of time, everyone everywhere were singing the same songs at the same time. It had never happened before and has never happened since.
You are so right! I had never thought of it that way but it is true. Everyone was on the same page. All ages and all over the world. A special time in history never to be repeated again. So glad I was a child of the 60’s to witness this. I think the stars aligned and it was meant to be.
Such a beautiful melancholy song. It touched me the first time I heard it when I was a child. Now at 55 it still touches me. Lennon really did a great job putting the words together for this.
Yellow Submarine and I Get By with a Little Help from My Friends are two of Ringo’s songs. He didn’t have as wide a range in his voice so John and Paul wrote songs for him within that range. Joe Cocker also covered A Little Help too and it’s phenomenal.
The contemporary story of this song is that John brought into the studio this beautiful poem and left it there. Paul picked it up and set it to music. All four Beatles later created the arrangement. So there is the collaboration right there.
That is not the contemporary story, that is Paul's version that he came up with decades later. In a video from that time period in '65 there is an interview with both John and Paul are talking to a reporter about that song. Lennon is talking about how he created this song and mentioned that Paul helped a bit. Paul nodded along. Paul only created the version of him writing all the music as well as most of the lyrics recently. Paul even said John only had the first line which doesn't appear to make any sense since the entire set of lyrics in Lennon's handwriting exists. Paul's story is just his revisionist history as the way he remembers it as the way he puts it. I wouldn't trust an 80 year old's memory from events 50 years earlier in the best of cases nevermind with Paul's history. Then the song sounds like a classic Lennon melody exactly as he was writing other songs of that period. He was creating Girl, Norwegian Wood, It's Only Love and many others in a similar vein. This sounds nothing like a typical Paul melody. And since when has Lennon ever written a set of lyrics with no idea of a melody to sing it? This is a guy that was at the height of his powers during Rubber Soul cranking out some of his best work. Paul's contributions on Rubber Soul were among his less popular. I like them, but they weren't big hits. This song has Lennon written all over it. I'm sure Paul helped a bit on it as they each helped other with their songs.
@@stickman1742This is untrue. Paul first made the claim that he set the words to melody back in 1970, when John was very much alive and able to rebuttal, which he did. Paul has maintained the same story of writing the melody and what the inspiration was for it all through the 70s and for over 50 years. Do with that what you will. He’s never claimed he wrote the lyrics, he acknowledges the lyrics were all John.
This song is about cherishing the past in its fondness those who were in your life and its sadness for loss, but also that joy continues anew as you step into the future. Particularly with your partner. Its very romantic. Sort of the perfect wedding song.
“LET IT BE” By the BEATLES is also very touching, comforting. Paul sings lead and plays the piano and there’s also a great guitar solo unit!! “When I find myself in times of trouble mother Mary comes to me speaking words of wisdom, Let It Be!”
This is one of the best albums. I played this song at my wedding, the music before the wedding. 8 of the people that attended my wedding are now gone. I miss them all.
Have looked at this video three times now. So touching to see Amber being touched by the song. This wonderful song that many of us have known and appreciated for 57 years now... Regards Paul
I’m a 69 year-old, rabid, lifelong Beatles fan who has loved them since the first time they took the stage on Ed Sullivan’s variety show on February 9, 1964. The impact this group had cannot be overstated. Everything from music, fashion, hairstyles, social mores, film musicals, album production, etc. Each member had a unique personality and created accordingly. It was always a delight to dive into each new Beatles album to discover the growth they had achieved, both as individuals and collectively. The level of creativity was astounding. Much has been written and recorded about their musical careers. All I know is that they were magic, for a very long time. What delights me most is that successive generations have continued to discover their music, and fall in love with it too. It stands the test of time. As far as “Ringo songs” are concerned, some of my favorites are ‘Good Night’, ‘Carry That Weight’, and ‘I Wanna be Your Man’. You’ll spend many years down this rabbit hole, and you’ll never be bored.
This song makes me tear up every time. Not many do. . .this one always does. But mostly for John. He deserved to live the rest of his life with his family.
Come on admit it who hasn't got a tear in there eye ? Such a tear jerking song by the first super group . Looks like you guys loved it and keep the music flowing x
I loved this song when I was a teenager, when I discovered the fabulous Beatles catalogue. And the older I get, the more I appreciate the lyrics. And now, at 57, this song touches me more deeply than ever. "Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them ..."
great song by the great John Lennon, remembering his life, one time Beatle Stu Sutcliff was a big influence in this song. Ringo sang lead vocal on, With A Little Help From My Friends, Good Night, Octopuses Garden which he wrote, Boys, Act Naturally, and others.
The Beatles were growing up and their songs showed it, especially on this album. This was a turning point for them. Rubber Soul is my favorite Beatles album of all time.
I’ll never, until the end of my days, understand how one group of four wrote so many incredible songs.
And in reality only 2 writing the majority of them.
And all The Beatles compositions were written and recorded before any of them reached 30 years of age!
And in different genres.

Perfectly said....
I have actually asked that this song be played at my memorial someday!
And this is why the Beatles are the greatest band of all time!! They get you in so many ways .
I can understand people who say they don't like The Beatles but I will never understand people who say The Beatles are overrated or they weren't any good. The Beatles were genius, pure and simple. The way they transformed their sound in the space of just a few year is remarkable.
People who say they don't like the Beatles are just attention seeking.
I CANNOT understand someone who does not like the Beatles.

Rubber Soul is far and away my favorite Beatles album.
I thought revolver was better but they were/are the best albums the Beatles recorded.
Totally with you on that. Rubber Soul was iconic.
Rubber Soul and Revolver. Two of the greatest albums of all-time. All within a year.
This is an example of why The Beatles are so special to so many people. This is another example of the depth and meaning that they could pack into a song lasting only 2:26. In this song, John Lennon perfectly evoked the memory of a place and time for us all to enjoy and identify with.
Is there any type of song the Beatles couldn't do?
@@matthewhudson5685 I almost replied and said they couldn't do a bad song, but then I remembered "Wild Honey Pie" and "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" so never mind. The Beatles are so talented they can do bad songs too. 🤔
@@gregorymoore2877 Why Don't We Do It In The Road is one of my favourite Beatles tracks. Great song.
@@scottromer8584 McCartney only wrote the intro riff and helped with the bridge. John wrote all the lyrics and the verses musically.
It's true - this song is both very sentimental and a celebration and acknowledgement. And it can make you cry!
When The Beatles collection was finally available on Spotify, I listened to the entire discography in chronological order. It’s amazing how quickly they evolved. In just over seven years, they released 13 albums and more than 200 songs. No artist is more important than The Beatles.
Agreed hard
The Beatles were on a level of their own. Genius!
The Bee Gees were/are pretty incredible, too, and incidently very good friends, with the Beatles.
I just started doing the same last night at work. I've heard all their albums, but never in chronological order, and you're right, the evolution of their music in their short recording career is absolutely incredible.
Ringo sings "Octopuses Garden", quite a few more too...
Not only does this song take you down memory lane, but it's ultimately a love song. He says, "But of all these friends and lovers, there's no one compares with you." and "In my life, I love you more."
In that respect it has a similar message to the Prince-penned Sinead O'Connor hit "Nothing Compares To You"
Great Point,That Is His Statemet In The Song
Definitely one of the top 10 Beatles songs of all time. Brings a tear to the eye every time.

My favorite Beatles song! I have the lyrics framed on a wall in my bedroom. ❤
So do I!!!

I can recall them playing this song on the radio the day after John Lennon was killed, which made listening to it all the more gut-wrenching.
You aint kidding, we cried for days...
You got me now…….😢
I can remember my mother calling me to tell me to sit down.
One of the greatest losses of all time.McCartney is rocking on, Imagine what John could have done if he hadnt been murdered.
Watching Amber tearing up during the last verse made me do the same. A very melancholy song that makes so many of us think about those "people and things that went before".
I also noted how Amber was fighting back tears. This song must have really hit home for her.
So prfound for me. Another I will have played when I leave this world. Brings tears everytime. Loved this xx
Love it!
Totally agree.
John told his boyhood friend Pete Shotten that he was the inspiration for this tune, they had some history.

The older I get, the more meaningful this song gets.
Man, John Lennon was such a unique, extraordinary musical talent. They don't come along too often. But when they do: BAM! Then Paul: BAM. Then George: BAM. And the Ring Man: BAM! BAM! BAM! What a group!

Older fans like Sgt Pepper but I’m a fan of Revolver and Rubber Soul.
Agree totally.
"When The Beatles first started getting weird," LOL.
Hi guys, you make me smile, you have such good tastes in music, I am 73 years old and grew up with the Beatles. I don’t know if you have heard this but one of my favourite songs by the Beatles is ‘ Day in the life’ give it a listen. All the best.
John's major contribution on Sgt. Peppers was "A Day In The Life", and Paul's was "She's Leaving Home".
They packed so many great songs into only 8 years. Ringo lead vocals My favorite With A Little Help From My Friends this is the original, Yellow Submarine are the two best with Ringo singing. Don't Pass Me By, Octopus's Garden he wrote and sang. And Act Naturally.
"Photograph" and "The No No Song" "Back Off Boogloo".
Boys, I wanna be your man, Matchbox, Honey don't, What goes on, Good night. And I think he also sings in Carry that weight but not leading of course
I named all of those, lol
Don't Pass Me By is a very good one....

The Beatles were more than a musical group. There were social icons who changed and influenced all of the society around them who watched everything they did and followed their lead. They completely changed the culture overnight forever. Music and words were just their vehicles.
Absolutely and they influenced so many other artists of various styles also.

It's amazing how someone so young can can write words that take a lifetime of living to understand. This song is so deep and true.✌️
Yes! Those were my 2 favorite by him. I also love his cover of Act Naturally from Help! and Octopus's Garden from Abbey Road
"Little Help.." is one of the best Beatles songs. Ringo nailed it!
Me, too.
Rubber Soul is my favorite Beatles album ever. So many great songs. Paul's fuzz bass on "Think for Yourself" is unreal.
I raised my 14 year old son in The Beatles. We played nothing but in utero and he came out the Womb not being able to relax unless some Beatles was playing. So while listening to Sgt Pepper on the radio the other day I randomly asked him what is his favorite Beatles album. Without hesitation, he let me know:
"Rubber Soul. Duh!"
it was their first large jump from being the lovable moptops.
the cover was unusual and caused a stir. certainly looked different.
I think Ringo was overlooked so much. Thank you saying that about his talent.
I sum up Ringo this way; only what the song needed and nothing more.
The absolute GENIUS of Ringo! How does he come up with the PERFECT drums for this song....seriously. It ALL works.
One of my favorite Beatles songs. More upbeat than melancholy, and the harmonies are so lovely.
This is my all time favorite Beatles song. Thank you for reacting to this classic, with John on lead. ❤️
My daughter chose this song for our father-daughter dance at her wedding reception. I was so proud of her:)).
Rubber Soul was their first album where they became more experimental with their music, amazing considering how young they all were
One of their finest songs...so much emotion
This is my favorite Beatles song. There are so many incredible songs, from the beginning to the end of their work.
When they all harmonize....is just healing to my ears!! Absolutely beautiful!
Amber…you are making me cry girl. Just got home from a friend’s 31 year old son’s celebration of life so this this song right now is so appropriate.🙏💞
❤❤❤❤
I agree. It's the best Ringo song with the Beatles. Solo, I think 'Photograph' is his best.
And of course, 'Don't pass me by', with that lovely lyric, "you were in a car crash, and you lost your hair." 😅
I sang this song for my parents' 25th anniversary. Had to do it over the phone because we lived in different cities.

Thanks, I never knew that!
Oh wow, I always thought that was an actual harpsichord. That's crazy
Back when we all had turntables, I would play that part slowed down from time to time.
I'm one of those who think George Martin was at least the 5th Beatle. He knew music classics, theory and compositions. He really polished their music.
My favorite Beatles song. The older I get the more relatable it is. It's a great song about memories of your past.
I agree
For any musicians, this song has the classic Lennon chord sequence going from major to minor on the IV chord leading back to the I. He used this device in quite a few of his songs and it’s particularly moving in this one - his falsetto “in my life” over the minor IV at the end is beautiful. RIP John.
George Martin played the piano solo. They sped it up to make it sound like a harpsichord. One of the most beautiful songs ever written, for sure.
Also because he couldn't play it at tempo, but he could play it at half speed! He wrote the melody himself.
Forever thankful that George Martin and the Beatles found each other

This song 🎶 rings close to my heart . My oldest daughter’s wedding song for the father/ daughter dance . Brings such tears of happiness for me personally. This tune is one of John Lennon’s masterpieces.❤😊
This song gets better with age for the obvious reasons. I am now 70 so I was there when this album came out.
The Beatles simply are the greatest ever. So diverse. Pioneers for basically everything.
Not just my favorite Beatles song, but my favorite SONG of all-time.
Also listen to Good Night - written by John and sung by Ringo
Ringo also wrote this one. Pick this if you want to hear one he wrote and sang.
...there's also "Act Naturally" - the b-side of the "Yesterday" single
I think "With a Little Help from my Friends" is the best Ringo Beatles song. It suits his personality so well.
I still love I Wanna Be Your Man. Octopus' Garden definitely a must. Matchbox.
So glad you guys hit this tune! It’s sensational, great work from Lennon
The lyrics are so beautiful. I think John wrote this. He was only in his early 20s. So mature. Jose Feliciano did a beautiful cover of this.
