  • I have been doing some 'research' into the best recording options for my exciting drone hobby. Do I need ND Filters? Do I use Gyroflow or Rocksteady? Just some of the decisions we make before we fly.
All these questions are obviously down to personal opinion and the time and area we are going to fly in.
Note: Gyroflow explicitly recommends in its instructions to use a high frame rate - Do not use ND Filters.
I have had issues and near crashes using ND Filters previously when going from the bright outside to a shaded wooded area or into a building. Personally, I don't and won't use ND filters and happy enough adding motion blur in post. Gyroflow, although I do think its better than the inbuilt Rocksteady, it is very time consuming to export, so as a drone hobbyist - I'll stick with Rocksteady, as this video compares, its pretty solid.
After the loss of signal and crash I wanted to check my flight data from the DJI Fly App. Seems using the motion controller doesn't give you the control recording as you would get from a standard controller.
Quick edit in post to colour grade and add motion blur. Turning 2 hours of video into a 4 minute UA-cam or 30 sec TikTok. But we love it. Don't we...
