This is a Wave Nouveau which was popular in the U.S. during the 80s along with the Jherri Curl which has tighter curls and is wetter. You can still get both done in the U.S. usually at old school salons with older hair stylists; however, in recent years the Wave Nouveau made a come back so you'll probably find some younger salons also doing it now. One thing though, many in the 80s, 90s found that while their hair grew longer, it made their strands overall weaker when they tried to go back natural so you have to be super careful and I suggest getting advice from a very knowledgeable stylist who has a lot of experience with these curly perms.
Any hair can have breakage, even natural hair, just do what you can to keep it from breaking including keeping it hydrated so you’re on point with that. I’m natural but I wish you the best with this perm.
I remember very vividly that we HAD to use neutralizing shampoo after swimming with a curly perm. Chlorine and the chemicals from the perm, combining, will break the hair right off. It must be neutralized. My auntie’s hair fell out from being inches long down to 3 inches from making that mistake.
Please be careful. We used this in the 80s and the hair was great for the first 2 perms then with each perm the hair gets thinner and thinner until it breaks. That's because they didnt just do the roots they did the whole length.
You literally just typed the exact reason why people's hair broke off. This woman's stylist isn't reckless and isn't doing that. It was never the chemical that broke the hair it was always improper use of the chemical. 80's-90's hairstylists did a lot of stupid stuff against the manufacturers warnings that caused damage. I’m doing it cause I had an S Curl years ago and it grew as well. I love my natural wave pattern though. I’m just trying to eliminate frizz in Florida.
With a curly perm or Japanese straightening perm you are to avoid chlorine pools until u cut the processed hair out or it grows out even 10 years later
I’m thinking about doing this to alleviate frizz. My hair is naturally curly. Gel it and I have waves. Need to know what this does to already curly hair. Did you find out?
If you have curly/coily hair already, it will loosen the curls and make it more manageable/comb through. I used to get this for 10+ years. Natural currently and thinking about going back. My hair is naturally curly and thick and the longer it grows the more of a hassle it is 😅.
@ 3:25 that is the reason for the wrapping papers are for the ends of hair, so one does NOT have to twirl the ends around the rod & all curls are the same...that in a no brainer. So saying not using them is ridiculous... Also not using them causes fizziness... 🤦Does not make sense @ all...whatever narrative/s she gives, are ludicrous. And should use a (squirt bottle) and not a spray bottle, if its about Saturation and timing 🙄

💶 I can't believe people used to do this service for such a little bit of money for all that work. People need to wake up and realize they were paying pennies for the amount of work that people were doing ESPECIALLY BRAIDS!
A lot of people hair who got curl perm looks very dry. Are they not allowed to add moisturizers from other brands and stuff? Why does it always look dry?
Nope they can only use a specific line of products or else it breaks off.
some ppl like a drier look some like the wet look but they are probably not moisturizing it like they should if it looks very dry. Or they are not applying the products correctly.
Ive had a brazialn perm had thus type of curly hair naturally now i want a perm😊 for my natural texture looool 😢 but this is sooo pretty xx
I learned to do this in high school when I took cosmetology and never did it in my own hair
Actually a curly perm GROWS YOUR HAIR.
Help to retain length due to the change in porosity and the relaxed curl pattern. Moisture and oils can penetrate the shaft better, but moisture can escape just as fast.
can you do a new update? do you still have your curly perm?
My hair is constantly shedding with curly perm
I am thinking of removing my perm because of all of the damage and thinning it has done to my hair
Thanks for being real 💯
Where is the beautician located I want to go I love her method
Go to the first video she posted 7 months ago I think she gave details about the lady
Thank God this is in Toronto. I need my hair to grow so I’m going to get this Jerri curl or s curl. That’s what it was back on the day.
Dont do it. I just finished growing my hair back out from the Wave nouveau. You'll be bald and back at square one. Thats why she hasnt made any updated videos on her progress, because it fell out for her too.
Wave noueva doesn't make your hair fall out its probably because you didn't use the wave nouveau ptoducts you cannot use natural hair products you cant treat your curly perm like its natural i had wave nouveau for a year and my hair grew @@danielleholland3491
Not true I been having this process for 3 months my hair growing like crazy love it
Can you let me know the person/salon you went too? I'm in Toronto, and my hair is THICKKKK.
Her hair doesn't look like it grew much in 7 months. It just looks like she has less curl after the second application 7 months later. Her hair is straighter then it was the first time, so it looks like it grew more. This is what my hair does with a mild relaxer. It barely has a curl...and just waves like this. He hair is more wavey than anything. I would like to see how it looks in 2 years. It also appears to be much thinner. Model is gorgeous though.
Your hair definitely did thin out from 7 months ago
Can you please do another update know that is been over a year?🙏🏾💗
Ohh that’s why they’re called perm rods
hey, firstly your hair looks great! two questions: 1- have you every tried to blow dry it straight or use a flat iron for something different? is that ok to do with this treatment? 2- how often do you touch up?
Putting heat in this processed hair is not recommended
Does she wash your hair with shampoo before starting the process?
My mom has gotten perms all my life and she always washes her hair the night before.
Can you use clip ins & show other hairstyles? Also, do you know if you can get a curly perm on your new growth with relaxed ends?
You need to cut off the relaxed ends
Did you have to go under the hair dryer through the retouch process?
I’m doing it cause I had an S Curl years ago and it grew as well. I love my natural wave pattern though. I’m just trying to eliminate frizz in Florida.
With a curly perm or Japanese straightening perm you are to avoid chlorine pools until u cut the processed hair out or it grows out even 10 years later
yikes

Don’t believe that person!
You just need to apply conditioner on your hair and wear a good swim cap.
Saturate with mineral oil when swimming in chlorine or salt water.
how much should this cost?
How much are stylist charging and the retouch price?
Where is she located I want a perm but I want to go to someone that know’s what the are doing .
Can you dye or get highlights in hair like this or will it not be able to take it?
Do you just air dry your hair loose after washing??
Ur hair is beautiful and ur theme song intro is catchy af...😅
Looks like she took a lot of yalls advice from the last video!
Nice! I wish I knew someone in Texas that does this procedure.
is your hair naturally straight ?
How many did you use on your hair I want to do this but do not know how many I need to get
Hi… what do u moisturize it with
What kind of curly perm is this?
What products do u use in your hair ?
please do any update on your perm or natural hair 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hi dear, I'm thinking of perming my natural curly hair and I'd like to know how long after a perm can I have box braids 😢
#usingmyhusbandacc.
Can you get this with naturally curly hair already ?
I’m thinking about doing this to alleviate frizz. My hair is naturally curly. Gel it and I have waves. Need to know what this does to already curly hair. Did you find out?
If you have curly/coily hair already, it will loosen the curls and make it more manageable/comb through. I used to get this for 10+ years. Natural currently and thinking about going back. My hair is naturally curly and thick and the longer it grows the more of a hassle it is 😅.
Where are you from? you have an accent but I can’t pinpoint the the Caribbean accent
What kinda of perm did she use
Where did you get your hair done at?
This works great with a bottle of Maxey secret Diamonds
What have you heard brings your edges back.
Could you have achieved this same look with your natural hair and some gel?
Yeah but it won’t last as long. I get this look with gel no perm but some parts of my hair won’t curl as well
Not a "bald headed heaux"💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Lmao facts I really was tho 😂
I got care free perm. Need to know how to treat it . Need help please
I love it. I feel encouraged even more. But what relaxer do you use? Just to make sure I'm doing the exact same thing. lol😂
She used the wave nouveau
Where do you go to get in done? I’m in Toronto
How often do you get touch ups?
Every 90 days bit she went back 6 or 7 months
May I ask what Salon is this? I’m trying to fund a good salon and stylist to cut my hair, no one knows any ,where I live.
Are you in Toronto ?
@@KaaylaDee Yes
It would have helped the viewers more if you had SHOWN your new growth.
How do you maintain?
Beautiful, where did you get it done ?
