Interestingly, the natives from the area of Brazil in which açai is most abundant ate it with savory food. Their preparation originally incorporates açai in a balanced meal. However, it got popularized in all areas of Brazil as a dessert bowl. For instance, you will find sweetened açai topped with sweetened condensed milk, candied peanut butter paste, and sometimes nutella. In the United States, they add sugar, granola, and high glycemic fruits on top- a sugar bomb. As you said it, because we can only get the frozen pulp version in the U.S., the best option is to get the unsweetened version and add it in a smoothie. On another note, high doses of Omega 3 along with vitamin D3 singlehandedly cured my inflammation, depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. It also improved my sleep and memory. Of course it takes a while of consistent consumption but I will never go back. Now I take high doses daily (Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega) in conjunction with regular consumption of sardines, mackerel, wild caught salmon, and eggs.

It is a shame that you did not mention tocotrienols, the form of Vitamin E that crosses the blood brain barrier. α-Tocopheral which is usually the one in supplements do not cross the barrier.
One of the richest sources of tocotrienol is wheat germ. The caveat is vitamin E is oxidized from wheat in about 72 hours. Heat stabilizes it and is very heat stable for baking. This means bread must be baked within that time frame, preferably the same day as milling. Electric counter-top grain mills are wonderful. When I first learned this from the food scientist Susan Becker, I couldn’t believe that her wart stories actually came true for me-a nasal wart fell out of my right nostril, one I’ve had for almost 3 years. My child’s hair started growing, eczema stabilized and went dormant. My wife is no longer constipated, and my toe nail fungus is slowly disappearing. I’ve never had clean nail growing at the base of the nail. It is a miracle. Very hard to believe the wheat and grains, something consumed since the beginning of creation, would be bad for us. However, freshly milled wheat has been nothing short of miracle for my family. Did I mention I lost weight and congestion is only very occasional when it used to be present all the time for my experience.
After a literature review, you can find confirmations if whole grain (not to be confused with whole wheat) bread aids tremendously in weight loss. Wheat germ is beneficial in mucous membrane health. Also, as an eye doctor, I happen to find a study from the land of myopia epidemic, China, release a study that males who were studies between ages 9-12, had a protective effect from whole grain is >50% of their grains were whole grains(nite China and typically use white rice without rice germ). Additionally, vitamin E is THE fertility vitamin.
Also, it is delicious. The bread is soft and not gritty contrary to the “whole wheat” bread found in the store.
The fibers also aid in detox effects for the liver and kidneys and make a fantastic pre-biotic which would explain why my nails are healing. Minerals in the wheat also helpful. Wheat has every nutrient except vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin A and Lysine, very impressive nutritional profile for a plant food.
Don’t forget breads can also be made from oats, rye, barley, millet, sorghum, Teff.
    Neuro-protective effects of tocotrienol.

Wild Salmon living here in the PNW is easily accessed and we eat it all of the time. Olive oil is not only in my pantry, but in my bathroom for an after shower moisturizer. I have a question that if you could do an episode on would be so appreciated. And that is, how to navigate an ultra processed society with your kids. The topic of candy has been heavy in my mind for a couple years now. My boy is now 5. First i said no candy, and then i said some candy sometimes. And now as he's getting older and we have these conversations he values "strong food" but when we are around candy like in festivals or parades (he went to his first one some weeks ago) and sometimes his school might have donuts. I digress.
The meat of my question is this notion that "once in a while" won't hurt you.
And not only the notion but the underlying principality. I can't help to think how running with this "once in a while" can morph into unhealthy choices as he grows up. Because it's not okay to call a friend a friend when they mistreat you "once in a while". Drinking alcohol is not okay once in a while. Like, it's hurting you. Trying drugs just "one time" if someone offers it is still not okay even if you're only going to try it "this one time". Being in a relationship that is volatile "once in a while" is not okay.
Watching tv or reading things or being around people that cripple your mind instead of builidng it "once in a while" is not okay.
Doctor Amen says to eat food that loves us back. And that, morphed into a principle, will never lead you astray.
So I spoke with my boy about this and afterwards he said "you know what, I'm just going to throw this candy away." And he threw the entire bag away of the candy he had collected from the parade.
And i can make him dark chocolate covered peanuts, or date coconut balls, i can make him the dark chocolate cookies. I can make him the things. I can always buy organic candy with real fruit juices. But i know im not always going to be able to safeguard. I won't always be around.
How have you fortified your son's mind to make these choices on his own? I also don't want him to ever feel shame. He's only 5, he's still growing, he's still maturing.
When my mind has a weak moment, my stomach safeguards me. I can't munch on a single baggie of cheetos anymore without having a stomachache. Half way through a baggie my stomach has had enough. It's not enjoyable.
    How have you done it!
I don't keep these "snacks" in my home. But grandma and grandpa next door have been all over that though now they have decided to stop as well so that will help my boy.
    I'm rambling now.
    All advice welcomed!
    Thank you, Shawn!

I also know that there are other layers to his ultimate choice making. There is a whole foundation. I just believe in being preventative and proactive because that wasn't done for me. So I want to make sure I am instilling wholesome messages. And if this one is going to hurt him in the long run more than help him, I would love some help I knowing how to set him up for success.

Some of the older people in my life are concerned about getting Alzheimer’s, and I really want to share this or other brain health content with them. The problem is, I don’t know how to share it in a way they’ll be enthusiastic about. Some of the older people in my life don’t necessarily have a growth mindset about their health, and they might even feel attacked if I imply they could be doing something different to make their bodies better. At the same time, I feel a RESPONSIBILITY to share this information with them because I want to help heal their brains and their minds of their physical and mental dis-eases. It’s hard knowing they could do something, because I love them and want them to live a happy, healthy life. Is there a way you share this information and mindset with people in your life who are a little more closed off to it? I don’t want to control them, but if I could get them to change their lifestyle in order to live a happier healthier life….I would! So maybe I do want to control them to a degree? Which doesn’t sound good. But the intention is good! Idk 🤷‍♂️ Any advice?

Morning, being of a mature age, I would simply say “ I’ve just watched an informative UA-cam from a professional, regarding foods to help improve my memory. I’m going to start eating these foods. Would you like to watch it too? If you get a “no thanks” at least you have planted a seed, and this is a start. I would also eat these foods in front of them (if doable) and promote “why” you are eating these foods. IE: did you know eggs are really good for the brain etc…. Sometimes pointing out the goodness of certain foods, has to be promoted in a different way and your older loved ones may want to know more in the future. ☯😎🫐
