I've turned a few wrenches in my days-but ever since computer chips started to outnumber "nuts and bolts" on my engines, I've stayed away from messing with stuff under the hood. That said, the quote I got for changing the plugs in my 2012 Lincoln MKZ really set me back on my heals. My reaction... "what the hell, I should be able to change plugs, right?" Well, after analyzing the situation on my Lincoln 3.5L, not so much. Until I watched your video. Simply stated, I would have never tackled this job without watching your step by step approach to accessing those plugs. I had you right there beside me (well, you were on my laptop) every step of the way. I'm proud to say, everything went like clockwork. As a result, I know the job was done right, I saved a boatload of money, and the car runs like new. You should take great pride in knowing you're really helping a lot of us regain our confidence to venture under the hood again! Many many thanks.
You prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid lost my password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Ira Memphis i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Just did the plugs on my kid's 08 Taurus X. These videos made it just dummy easy! Thank you for this! Car just turned over 300,000 miles, still going strong :)
How you doing sir can you help me I'm trying to put my Lord intake on my 2008 Lincoln MKX I don't know what the torque is to talk him down do you know the pounds to torque it down
This is from old retired Ford mechanic to a young tech. I find your videos great and very well done. You helped me on my Focus ATX problem. If you ever find yourself with a VV- carb problem or EEC 1-2-3=or 4 problems , drop me a line----knowledge should be shared and thank you for sharing yours. Russ
Just did my 2011 taurus, basically just follow your video and i was done. I opted out of removing the support brace since i don't have an impact and it turned out fine - God bless, this is easier than following a Haynes book!
Thank you very much for posting this video. Without having any previous experience working on cars, I needed to change the spark plugs without paying an arm and leg for it. Your video helped guide me from the upper intake, down into the engine, and back. If there is anywhere to review you/business, 5-stars, no question.
Very good video. I had 2 hours beford looking for this, just to replace spark plugs in my wife´s Lincolln MKX. This video say every thing i nedd to know!!! Thank you and Best Regards from Mexico City.... Ford forever!!!! My onother car TBird SC 1993...
Just replaced spark plugs on a 2012 Taurus SEL. This video is very similar to what I saw. the only difference is that there was no rear mounting bolt on the back of the intake. All in all this video is excellent. I do recommend buying the tack claw that he uses in the video and using the inch pounds torque wrench.
I haven't fixed my cars in over 30 years, but got inspired watching this video. Mine is an '09 Lincoln MKS. Great instructional video. Worked like a charm. Thanks
Just wanted to say thanks - changed out my PCM, coil packs and spark plugs thanks to your videos. Now to get my keys reprogrammed for PATS and I should be back on the road!
I did this job today on my 2011 Taurus with just under 90,000 miles. Its actually a tad bit easier than the Edge. Thanks for the video. I'm sure Ford charges around $400 for this job.
Got the manifold off, replaced the 3 back spark plugs...had to get an 8 inch extension plug socket, checked the gaskets and decided they were good and did not replace. Hope i do not pay for that down the road. Car started up, no problems. Thanks again for your video.
I'm doing research on how to do this job for my 2013 Taurus and came across your video. Needless to say, awesome video! I like to do work on all my cars, and this will be the first time I'll be "going deep" on my Taurus.
I was worried that I was not knowledgeable or confident enough to pull the intake off to replace the rear sparkplugs. After watch your step by step instruction I have decided to go ahead with the task of replacing the spark plugs. Thanks and Good tunes in the background. with the money that I save I can afford a nifty impact driver.
This review is so spot on and I was able to vlog the same procedure on my 2008 Lincoln mkZ. Thanks for the step by step bro. I think I said it before but I love your Christian music in the background.
I'm going to say that I have watched a few videos about this project but simply put with your helping video it took about 2 1/2 hours to complete... I've been putting it off since July and now it's March... should've watched your performance sooner... LMBO 👍😎👍
This video was very helpful changing spark plugs in my 2009 Ford Taurus X 3.5L engine. This required removal of upper intake Manifold to get to the rear plugs. The attachment for Torque pattern of upper intake manifold bolts was also very helpful.
Thank you for the video, just did the front 3, and this weekend am going to tackle the rear 3. My 5th cylinder was miss firing, working like a champ now. If only the head gasket were this easy
Thanks to your video, I'll be able to properly remove and reinstall the intake manifold when I replace my spark plugs on my 2008 Ford Taurus. You saved me a ton of money, and stress. Thank you so much!
Well I'm glad I found this here . My sons car just blown a coil and after changing plug and the blown coil it wont start so I'll let you know soon if the reset works .And yes I did the T body clean up as well .
Thanks man. I am a GM tech and have to do the plugs in my wife's new MKZ and was trying to find out the torque sequence and number of passes. Helps a lot thanks.
+FordTechMakuloco Do you always change out the upper intake gaskets for this procedure, I am assuming from the video they are fitted gaskets? Secondly, once the coils are loosened I usually use a little spray synthetic lube in the plug bore to help ease the boots out. Do you agree or should I be ready for them to be stuck and separate from coil on plug assembly? Thirdly, I picked up NGK Iridium's for the job, what's your thoughts? Motorcraft only or will these work to spec...? Thanks for the help man. I am a retired GM dealership tech (well retired, as in the car came off the hoist and ended my career and almost life) and have been out of the main loop for 10 years now. Thanks in advance, really appreciate the help one wrench to another.
Thanks for the video, about to replace the # 1 coil on a 3.5, this took the EDGE off...I was worried about removing the manifold ...so much for my day off
Thanks for the video! I did this myself yesterday and followed your lead. I wouldn't have attempted, but your video showed the way, and in the end, it was straight-forward. Also appreciate the details and tips, such as the pry tool, torque rating and pattern.
I went to autozone and they say that u cant change pvc on this Lincoln mkz 2007, i don't think he knew what he was talking about...do u know if they are replaceable or not? Just wanna make sure b4 i do this job tomorrow..lmk please
Thank you very much sir for posting this video! I watched it a few times and knocked out the spark plug change on my wife's 08 Taurus X in no time. Also, thanks for the tip on using a trim panel tool to take care of the wire retainers. That tool was well worth the $10.
So far the hardest part is getting those plastic hold downs pulled. Second hardest is breaking the plastic holder clips on the fuel lines. Went to O'Reilly and got more fuel line clips. Also on the wire to the intake, it appears than I messed up the red clip holder as it can be pulled off now without pulling the red clip first. Still in process. Getting ready to remove manifold bolts.
Thankyou for the video! I can refer back to this video when it comes time to do plugs to my wife's Mazda CX-9 with the MZI 3.7 or AKA Ford Cyclone 3.7 V6. These are awesome V6s by the way, very smooth and punchy, plus they have a nice growl when you step on it.
Thank you for taking time to post this video. I am helping my brother change the spark plugs because of misfiring. Did the first 3, and watched this video to remove UIM to get to the back, the only place you lost me is the bolt on the bottom that you removed. where exactly is that?
Thanks for the video. I am deciding whether or not to buy this Taurus SHO, and really just wanted to see the lower intake should I need to clean out the carbon. With that said, some of the comments on here... Buy a manual for your car people.
After replacing the plugs and coils, 2008 Lincoln MKZ AWD, 136,454 miles,[possibly original, had .084 gap and re-flashed PCM, The engine ran until I turned off the heater, then it stopped. It will not start, only turns over for a while even when the key is released, then stops. What would cause this? Do the chips in the keys have anything to do with this?
great channel, i have a rattle that sounds like its inside the intake runners, took it to Ford they said it wasn't that! it was the mounts. $900 later still hearing this rattle. looking for guidance
Hard to find a torque wrench as low as 90 inch pounds. The lowest at O'Reilly was 120 inch pounds so I used my old manual torque wrench to about 7.5 foot pounds.
Thank you for posting this vid, helped a Chevy guy keep his wife happy! ;) One question, I'm working on a 2011 edge with the 3.5L, you're diagram shows a short bolt directly below the long rear bolt but don't call it out in the torque sequence. In total 7 bolts. I just hit it last hoping I'm right.
the upper intake bolts i believe i messed up on. i believe i over torqued them . i mistaked inch pounds with foot pounds. i torqued the bolts at 10 foot pound and then little more with 1/4 in drive ratchet. i did not snap one off or anything but i feel stupid about it. should i loosen them and retorque them ?
I have a 2013 Ford Taurus that I just changed rear spark plugs where I had to remove the upper Plenum. After I was done and had everything reinstalled started the car and it sounded great then as I took off down the street it shut my car off, shut my car off and felt like it locked up the brakes. The brake pedal was so hard that I could not push it down to restart my car. I had to wait a minute to restart it, and I was barely able to back into my driveway. I checked all my connections and have not found anything off or disconnected. I’ve now removed the intake and put a new gasket on which I did not do prior and I’m hoping for the best. If anyone’s had a problem like this, please let me know what you found.
Can you do a video on 3.5l fuel injector replacement? Is the process the same as far as having to remove the intake manifold? I have a 2010 fusion sport that is running codes 0204 and 0304.
I’m working on 2012 f150 3.5 eco boost trying to replace the coolant line feeding the turbo it’s rust pitted and leaks on the back of the head I have already removed the intake and the crossover pipe for the coolant how do you remove the tube did you remove the clip or did you remove the fitting with the tube on it?
Hey dude hopefully you get back to me ASAP. I was changing out my spark plugs on my 2012 Ford Fusion sport. It’s giving me a code p0205. Which isn’t an ignition issue in cyc5. Why would that come pop up? I didn’t touch the injector lines at all and I went back and double checked and everything and still had that code. Would would cause that code from doing spark plugs and not injector ? My car was running perfectly fine with no ignition code ever. Has 72 k miles and just wanted to do my plugs cuz I had time and had car almost 8 yrs new off the lot.
been wrenching on cars for year bt this 2015 is a service nightmare can't do any work without taking to ford least can do filters and oil change myself rest sucks
Doing this same procedure, I found that one of the 8mm bolts that hold down the intake was missing. The part number according to the manual is w503282. Any idea where I can get this bolt other than a Ford Dealership? Thanks for this video. I just went step by step using the manufacture's manual by was disturbed finding that bolt missing. I'd been looking for a vacuum leak. Do you think that may have been the issue?
I got a code P0203, going to change the fuel injector can you make a video of how to do that ? what steps do i need to take to remove the fuel rail? thanks a million
So what is that wire for the hooks to the back of the antique with a little rubber pieces PC valve rubber piece there’s another wire that was not hooked up that you did not show
Is the same setup as a 3.7L Engine? I have an Edge Sport, and need to change the spark plugs, but want to make sure that what's shown in this video is the same as what's under my hood.
Thanx for a great vid! Most of my knowledge is w/ Asian imports. This should be the same on a 2007 Freestyle, correct? I'm doing a tune up on one soon (168,572 miles) .I don't think it's ever been done. Thanx and G-d bless.
Where is the temp senor located on the edge? I have an 08 edge se. I am having trouble with the new cooling fans I installed they stay on all day unless I disconnect them from the harness. any advice ? thanks
Great video. I just changed the plugs on my 08 Taurus x 3.5. After putting everything back together it wont start. it will kick over but not fire up. is there a relearn procedure? is my factory alarm messed up from the battery being disconnected? any input would be appreciated.
Factory alarm should not be messed up. If it has high mileage you will have to clean your throttle body and do a relearn as per these two videos of course make sure nothing was left unplugged. How To Clear your PCM'S Memory on Fords After Repairs Cleaning An Electronic Throttle Body Safely
Can you tell me which is cylinder 3 on the Ford 3.5L? I'm getting a Injector Circuit / Open Cylinder 3 code on my Mom's 2010 Ford Fusion Sport and I'm having a hard time finding which cylinder number three is. Thanks for any help!

@Rhys Ethan No problem xD
Just did the plugs on my kid's 08 Taurus X. These videos made it just dummy easy! Thank you for this! Car just turned over 300,000 miles, still going strong :)
I have an 08 MKZ that needs valve gaskets and a tuner. This saved me precious bucks and increased my ability to fix my car . Thanks for the education!
Watching this video was like having a mechanic standing by my side...except I didn't have to pay $100/hr. Great job. Thank you.

+FordTechMakuloco By the way the video is great. Easy to spot a professional from a curbsider in about 10 seconds. Appreciate that.
I just did this on my 3.5L 2008 Taurus Limited and it was spot on perfect. Thank you so much, I had fun doing it and saved a lot of money.
Googled "how do I..." for replacing the spark plugs and found this. It was perfect. Wow - thanks!
Thanks for the video, about to replace the # 1 coil on a 3.5, this took the EDGE off...I was worried about removing the manifold ...so much for my day off
This was a great video. Made my tune up of my 2008 Taurus X LTD a lot less expensive. Step by step video was a wonderful asset.

Royalty335 Some have it some don't, the one under the throttle body is a black bracket follow it down. Again yours may not have it.
Looks pretty tame compared to some - thanks for sharing, I'll be doing this probably next weekend. Great video!
Great video! You saved me over $500 in service fees.
Thanks for the video. I am deciding whether or not to buy this Taurus SHO, and really just wanted to see the lower intake should I need to clean out the carbon.
With that said, some of the comments on here... Buy a manual for your car people.
got a missfire and hoping it is the plugs. Thanks for the info it saves me moola i do not have. Good video.
Also, very grateful for your cleaning tips using brake cleaner.
Glad the EGR isn't part of the 3.5L upper like the 3.0L V6, always easier to just remove those bolts than trying to unthread the exhaust supply tube.
awesome vid Iwish more techs were like you and enjoyed there jobs.
Many thanks Brian for your prompt reply.

great channel, i have a rattle that sounds like its inside the intake runners, took it to Ford they said it wasn't that! it was the mounts. $900 later still hearing this rattle. looking for guidance
very informative videos.
great soundtrack on this one!
Thanks!
Can you show how to do the spark plug change on the 2016 F-150 with the 3.5L naturally aspirated?
thanks bro that helped a lot to fix my car great job
Hard to find a torque wrench as low as 90 inch pounds. The lowest at O'Reilly was 120 inch pounds so I used my old manual torque wrench to about 7.5 foot pounds.
Are all the intake bolts the same length some look longer great video very clear and informative
You did an amazing job explaining.
Thanks for this video. Very helpful.

Brian, do you still work for Ford as a Tech, just wondering. Great video, you you make it look like a walk in the park, keep up the good work.
I have a 2013 Ford Taurus that I just changed rear spark plugs where I had to remove the upper Plenum. After I was done and had everything reinstalled started the car and it sounded great then as I took off down the street it shut my car off, shut my car off and felt like it locked up the brakes. Can you do a video on 3.5l fuel injector replacement? Is the process the same as far as having to remove the intake manifold? I have a 2010 fusion sport that is running codes 0204 and 0304.
Is that the same motor on the Ford Flex? I’m going to be replacing the plugs and boots on mine.
Thanks for the video really helpful! I don’t know why they put all that in the way.
Can you make a video of the cylinder order for a 2008 Ford Taurus X SEL?
Hey dude hopefully you get back to me ASAP. I was changing out my spark plugs on my 2012 Ford Fusion sport. It’s giving me a code p0205. Which isn’t an ignition issue in cyc5. Newer problem. Have had a hesitation for some time with my '08 Taurus X,
now I can smell gas fumes and there is a leak near the tank
Awesome video thanks very much. I feel more comfortable doing spark plug job myself.
So what’s the advantage of throttle by wire? I find that you lose feel and response. Miss the cable.
been wrenching on cars for year bt this 2015 is a service nightmare can't do any work without taking to ford least can do filters and oil change myself rest sucks

HOW would we know if WE have regular ignitron coil pks or direct ignition coil Pks in MKS before we replace them ?

best vid on the net.
Last time I open my big mouth and tell my girlfriend I can change out her spark plugs! Great video, thanks for this.
Great video. Where is your shop?
Thanx for a great vid! Most of my knowledge is w/ Asian imports. This should be the same on a 2007 Freestyle, correct? I'm doing a tune up on one soon (168,572 miles) .I don't think it's ever been done. Thanx and G-d bless.
It will be quite close except for the few connections to the manifold. Yours is a 3.0l.
Two of the bolts broke when I was removing the intake manifold. Is either W714133-S439 or W503297-S437 the correct replacement part #?
a very professional tutorial.
Where is the temp senor located on the edge? I have an 08 edge se. I am having trouble with the new cooling fans I installed they stay on all day unless I disconnect them from the harness. any advice ? thanks
Gidday Brian; Just finished watching this video and thoroughly enjoyed it. What year and model make was the vehicle? many Thanks.
+gerard kavanagh Maybe an 08 I am thinking.
do you recommend buying the upper and lower gaskets?
It seems that you only need the upper gasket.
