- Philippine's flag carrier offers great food, service, and a competitive seat from Manila to the world. While there is still room for improvement PAL offers a comfortable way to travel.
I just flew PAL from Manila to SFO 2 days ago & had an amazing travel even though I was too tired from my 4 weeks Asian vacation ( Thailand & Singapore) The crew were all professional Filipinos. More leg rooms in economy coach unlike Eva and British airways. We were all treated like we were in Business & First class cabins. I will always fly with PAL from now on. They even speak English fluently . Thank you Philippines. Mabuhay!
@Ryle The Game Explorer Totally agree with you! Their catch is the non-stop between SFO and MNL, Other than that, they do NOT maintain their equipment, even in business class. The only business class with 3 in the middle. PAL why don't you help out your fellow Filipinos with Business where one doesn't have to cross over another passenger to use the restroom? Mediocre food. Hate it when Filipinos have extremely biased reviews promoting PAL. Produce a good product and I will promote you.
Lol you must be overproud Filipino
Eva Air has actually 33 inches of legroom and better service
While Philippine Airlines has 31 inches of legroom and ok service

One thing I can say! MABUHAY! :)
And then you remember Duterte and what he’s done. Rest in peace Philippine pride- you will always be divided.
@@kungphu7680 Where have you been hiding???????????????????????? Pres. Duterte is the best President the Philipines has ever had.
@@s.t.santos5928 i’m sorry i don’t understand blind nationalism
@@kungphu7680 If you actually meant 'blind loyalty' or fanaticism, neither do I.
@@s.t.santos5928 Should that be the case, then I hope your remark about Duterte was just sarcastic.
I have loved every flight on PAL. Great service and friendly staff. The fog was not as bad as when I flew into Iceland from Scotland en route to Toronto. We were parked next to the terminal, which we could not see it was so thick. Raised my appreciation for the skill of the pilots.
It was an IFR landing but yes kudos to the pilot's skill.
i flew pl economy but was impressed all on time arrivals. good food.
I'm about to end my 2 months 15 country Asian tour and I'll be taking my flight to Manila with Philippines Airline. I'm really keen to fly with them and I can't wait.
Clever safety video. Also the Business Class cabin looked great. One of my favourite airlines...mainly due to the excellent cabin crew!! Great take off vision and sound. Manila is crazy but one of my best cities to visit. Love the people there !! Great to see an Australian wine on the menu!! A most excellent review of a most excellent flight. I would be more than happy to fly with them !! Well done as always!
Sorry to be offtopic but does someone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account??
I stupidly lost the account password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Julio Alfred instablaster ;)
@Holden Crew I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now.
I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Holden Crew It worked and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my ass !
@Julio Alfred you are welcome xD
Overall a good review but seems you were a bit picky about amenities. I recently flew business class round trip. Previous trips were premium which were ok. Business class was excellent and considering how much more other airlines charge for business, I think it's a bargain. Since you slept almost 9 hours seems no mattress pad was not a problem . Thankfully no pajamas were offered or the bathrooms would have become changing rooms and would have been tied up for hours. Anyone who flies that long should dress comfortably . Food was great, service was great and I'll be flying back NY / Manila IN 8 weeks.
Yes hes so picky
Excellent review! I have flown the PAL A350 JFK-MNL in business three times. I've found the service and food to be consistently good. I am 6'3" and I have a hard time sleeping in the bed - probably because I'm too big. I agree about the IFE screen, but on 4 out of 6 legs I've flow, the IFE either malfunctioned or didn't work properly. Again, great review & thanks!
Philippine Airlines gave an excellent service...PERIOD
One of my dream hopefully come true to experience business class
PAL uses Terminal 1 and 2 for the correction. Terminal 3 is used by its subsidiary PALex. There are 2 restaurants at the landside, Jollibee on the left side of the terminal and a coffe shop on the right.
ahh you are right. I didn't notice that before
At this point, all PAL needs to become truly competitive is to *become a member of one of the three big alliances* so they can tap into the very lucrative frequent flyers (most people flying to MNL from the US choose United-ANA, Singapore, or Delta since they can get a boatload of miles and points towards good fares).
Good video as always! More Power.
How can they(PAL)? When all three alliances keep on snobbing it not even giving our flag carrier the chance and all three are monopolyzed by mostly chinese airlines...since the beginning of these alliances not once was PAL invited why?I don't buy they're excuse of route overlap BS!!
Good point but some airlines in those big three alliances do have competition with PR from their hubs to MNL and back to their hubs just look at MNL-ICN & MNL-TPE you have Star Alliance Asiana & Skyteam Korean Air and Delta while Manila to Taipei it's Star Alliance Eva Air Skyteam China Airlines and KLM. Oneworld it's MNL-HKG/KUL/NRT & SYD
That is why once the new Manila international airport is built in Bulacan these three alliances will be racing to get slots for their "precious " alliance airlines.
That would be nice, but the region is already saturated with alliance airlines. PAL may not benefit the 3 alliances much
That's why i think PAL will be better off by itself
I am flying Philippine Airlines business class this coming December. This video makes me look forward to my flight! 👍
What route? Hope you get the new business class
@@fransarj ... Actually two flights.. Doha to Manila and Manila to New York like this flight! :D
Makati city looks gorgeous at night. Food looked delicious :)
Agreed the aerial night view is beautiful
Taguig City*
Actually it was the BGC in Taguig in your caption of Makati
I like the view of Manila in the plane window when its dark because the lights of the city when its dark makes it look like a beautiful city
Heyho, thanks for sharing ... I LOVE THE A350 ....
So sad, that Philippines dont fly to FRA anymore ...
Greez from a Planespotter and Flightreporter from Frankfurt,Germany :)
I love Pal i travel most of their planes i loved to Ride this new planes a350 love bus great videos of your flight excellent
I LOVE PHILIPPINE AIRLINES
After years of flying QF to MNL from MEL via SYD, I got tired of the extra stop in SYD as well as the evening and late night arrivals in MNL so I tried PR after decades of avoiding them. I was pleasantly surprised by the service and the food. The midday arrival in MNL plus the direct flight from Melbourne was a big plus too. I wish they have more European destinations though so I can stopover in Manila more often.
Awesome video! Very impressed with PAL here, the food and seat all look fantastic!
Regards,
Brendan
These seats are also standard on their A330 😄
11:58 - that’s Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. NOT Makati City.
Thanks for this. I am flying the same class but PR 119 from YYZ to MNL
I can’t wait for my trip. I will fly business from jfk to MNL thanks a lot for the video
PAL..The Heart of the Filipino.... 2 thumbs up..❤😘
Plane: *lands*
Also Plane: *sounds of rome collapsing*
As a filipino living in Barcelona, Spain my dream is to have a Pal direct flight BCN-MNL, and a jollibee barcelona branch. Lol
Love PAL I would take this route but I have to pass Manila which I’m from Cebu.hopefully they will have a JFK to Cebu in the future but I doubt it.
I am excited about the new airport in Bulacan which will be finished in 2025, a $16 billion worth of new airport, this would help decongest manila. It has a direct subway train to the airport and from metro manila. The new airport is said to accommodate 70-100 million passengers a year.
Beautiful. Nice to see a review from an airline not so popularly reviewed.
Who's this Wolfgang guy all over the menu?
The condition is pretty much the same as last time I fly from YYZ to MNL in July in PAL's biz.
Anyways, nicely filmed and your comments are really referenceable!
Nice video. PAL has a winner with those business class seats. Hope they upgrade their business class to those seats on the 777-300 they fly to LAX and SFO.
Stunning report with amazing filming mate.
Nice! And thanks for traveling to our fine city! My friend has done this one twice back and forth in biz class and he loved it!
Thanks for the review. I guess since it's business class the attitude was a business like environment with minimal interaction? Just like in business, efficiency comes first.
This guy just ate the whole menu and still kept complaining.
41000 feet also the cruising altitude for Manila to Heathrow flights.
I agree the lounge was a poor experience when I was at NAIA terminal 1 last year
David Armitage I went there too, this year, all I got was royal tru orange and aroz caldo. It was a long walk to the gate of your flight
Visiting New York for the first time when it's blanketed in fog would be very cool
I spent over 10 years as a faithful customer of PAL, I was even a "Premier Elite", until I lost my high-paying U.S. Government job due to the Obama Administration.... Since then, I left the whole damned program and moved here, to the Philippines. I have no idea what is going on with USA to Philippines air travel...
@5:59 That’s Gazini Ganados! Miss Universe Philippines 2019 ❤️👑
8th longest flight in the world and they use both Terminals 1 & 2 in MNL. They need to join one of the big three Alliances Star Alliance UA,ET,SQ,TG,NH,CA & OZ. Skyteam KL MU,DL, & KE Oneworld JL,CX QR & QF to get more partners. Some of the airlines in the big three alliances do fly into MNL like UA offering EWR-MNL via Guam & Honolulu or DL EWR-DTW-NRT-MNL
Star Alliance because ANA is a member, and they have a 9.5% shares in pal holdings.
@@bhiko20 Correct and PR should move 126/127 to EWR for UA codeshare under Star Alliance
That business class seating/cabin colors are very nice...very good...
i just love the roaring sound of the engine
Surprised they had food from Wolfgang.
That’s a place offering 300 dollar steaks
I’ma ten-thousandaire, so I can go to Premium Economy Class alone, but my second family will guide me.
That's a miss on such a long flight - no pajamas. I hope PAL changes that to match other airlines like Virgin Atlantic.
I forgot that I was watching a youtube video and I watched the whole flight tutorial thing with 100% attention
Very impressive flight.
The two meals are on par with business class plus filet mignon is almost non existent now on airlines.
That mid-flight snack was almost a meal into itself !
Only part I'm a bit surprised is no bedding cover or cushion for sleeping.
But I think if suggestions are made to management they will change what I believe is an oversight bc it's standard for all business class flights.
Premium economy has the same exact meal as economy, but with metal utensils instead of the plastic ones in economy. The FA’s were probably reserved because you were not speaking Tagalog. But you are right about the other airlines having better service. I find the only good things about PAL is that the flight Is a direct non-stop to Manila, and you arrive late morning. Personally I would rather fly with any other major Asian airline, especially Singapore air and EVA.
PAL needs to upgarde the Mabuhay Lounge
soon
The JFK to MNL trip is a unique situation. Singapore and other premium carriers may well have a higher level of service which, to be fair, is important at this price point. What sets PAL apart is its non-stop service from NY to Manila that takes between 2 to 4 hours off the trip, depending on carrier. Add that factor and reassess PAL's value proposition. It may well tip the scales in favor of PAL despite shortfalls in amenity kits, etc. I've made the trip on a variety of airlines and enjoy good food and service as much as anyone, but I'd give that up to avoid a transfer and get there much quicker. Perhaps the larger question is, given the reduced 16 hour vs old 20+ hour flight difference, could premium economy be the better play?
Yes for sure the premium is in having a monopoly on a non stop route. If PAL can provide a good premium economy product AND join Oneworld or Star Alliance that would be very exciting and add a lot of competition to EVA and SQ. Nowadays airfare are a lot more expensive anyways and I would actually say a non stop ticket in economy on PAL for around 1400-1500 is totally worth it when the one stop tickets are nearly the same price. One of the other reasons I have held off on PAL economy is the lack of frequent flyer benefits despite paying cash since I want to maintain either my Star Gold or Oneworld Sapphire membership.
A very nice and honest review. Thank you
We need to wait 6 more years for the New Manila International Airport to build. The new airport will feature at least four runways, expandable to six. It will have a capacity of 100 million passengers per year when fully built, which is about three times larger than the current capacity of NAIA.
I would have had sisig no questions asked
A350 is so quiet inside you can even hear 777 Ge90 Roar at 9:13 great trip report mabuhay 😊
I love Philippine airline..
FYI, video timelapse 6:00 is the current Ms. Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados. Hopefully, this year's Ms. Universe 2019.
If PAL filled A350 on SFO to MNL , I will come back, its been 10 years already, I haven't flown PAL. Try EVA for 5 but now I used Asiana Business Class much , much better. I wrote to PAL to fill A350 but no response...
Astig soon to have A380
I flew PAL from manila to vancouver back in 2015. And they were using T2 which is more modern and spacious. After 4 years, k was supprised when PAL gated at T1 when i arrived from vancouver. T1 is ok, but i preffered T2 better. And when we went back to vancouver. Our PAL plane B777 was in T1 and i did not like the Terminal. It's ok, but not so much space. And i cant even bring water to the gate even if i refilled it to a water station NEXT to the gate.
But i heard the Philippine president is making a new bigger airport soon.
It was a much better time to travel. I took a premium economy non stop from Mnl to jfk in jan 2020 for 1400 usd and it was quite comfy
3 choices for each course...other airlines usually have only 2
@Ryle the Explorer overproud what made you say so? that's my experience and I'm travelling business and first class for more than 20 years, all continents except greenland. i can even give you first hand memories of Concorde flights. prove to me that almost every airline offered 3 options for main entree
@@hjon9119 like almost good airline in the world
Singapore Airlines,ANA,Emirates,Qatar,Etihad,JAL,Turkish Airlines and many others
The a350 business class seats are way better than the ones found on boeing 777s business class. Hope they upgrade the 777’s seats
Very Nice Video
Wow nice good 😊
I miss the phillipines 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢
I had my business class booked but then the corona came and I had to cancel my flight ✈️
Thanks for sharing this flight report! I will be taking this exact same flight this November. Hoping to get my bid for prem economy then buy biz class on the day off. How full was the flight for biz class during your trip? Like to know the chances of being in biz class. Thanks!
Great video! Thank you
Awesome video. Was the flight smooth and was there any turbulence?
Cathay pacific super low price economy is all we can afford usually 3500 usa dollars for a family of 4 to fly from jfk to mnl with 1 stop in hong kong that was in 2019 who knows if we can ever travel there again i only will fly cathay
Just say hi, will come back for your video later .
Nice to see you again :D
Great video
Great 🎥! Don’t think I’v ever seen an nice onion soup like that on any plane! Steak and veg looked average. To serve the last course before you clean the main course plate - big no no! Mid flight snack looked tasty! Breakfast as well! Great seat!
Wow the captain Gen Josol is my good friend from palawan. Proud of you Gen.
beautiful video
The Philippines Airlines is the most Recent Airlines In the world.💃🙃🤗😁👩✈️🤠
Actually, its Asia's first airline.
Sana meron na A380 na PAL and Cebu Pacific Air and AIR ASIA PHILIPINES and PANCIFIC and SEAIR
Great review!
Good video!!
Lovin it
manila to jfk non-stop?...hwaoww!
singapore memorable !!! its a joke i think maybe few years ago but not now
Soon, In the Next 5-10 Years, Philippine Airlines Hub Will be in The New Manila International Airport in Bulacan, Better Take Souvenir of NAIA Before it Moves to NMIA, Because NAIA in the Future will be a Central Business District Similar to Downtown Core of Singapore and BGC in Taguig.

At takeoff, the Trent XWB sounds like a 777 PW4090!
Such a shame that those few little extras are missing which would really push PAL up in the airline ratings. Simple things like better amenities kit, sleep mattress and better blankets, more amenities in the bathroom, pyjamas. The flight attendants used to be super friendly and so helpful and attentive but that seems to be fading and going the way of British Airways (god forbid)!
how’s the turbulence on a long and direct flight? I wonder if kakayanin ko…takot me
At 6'7.5 inches tall, that seat would be uncomfortable, even upright, from Manilla to Palau much less to New York. They're 'ditching' F class also 'ditched' me from ever being a passenger.
Yes 👍👏👏❤️❤️❤️😍😍
Imnon
Nikki Bin Imnon?
the one with the caption of makati city is actually taguig city
the seats look identical to the new SAS A350 cabins
Fun fact: The Province of Guimaras in Visayas has the best mangoes in the Philippines.
I hope Philippine airlines survives they filed bankruptcy I love this airlines use all the time
They're back
Thank you for the video. Is the price point comparable to other flights options to JFK?
Very clear night view and beautiful video. May I know what camera you using?
D5600 though I upgraded to D7500 which is much better quality video especially at night
Thank you for the information 😊
there are some misleading information. nice video anyway.
so for a 16 hour flight there are only two meals?
Have you reviewed the premium econ? Thanks!
Zero vegetarian options in the menu. PAL is adequate for short haul but I wouldn't use them for long hail.
You can ask for both meals since you paid for them
There are so many things that PAL needs to improve before they can brag that they are a 4* carrier. First they should stop idolising American carriers and start looking at those who actually are in the game like Emirates, Qatar, Turkish, ANA and Singapore Air, just look at what Garuda Indonesia did! Second, the crew seemed to be nice but the service is absolutely not personalised, there isn't a bit of luxurious feel. It appears you paid an expensive fare just to have your meals served on Chinaware that doesn't identify itself as PAL- look at Singapore Airlines, you would know that the meals served are theirs by just looking at the plates without any logos. And the dreaded Mabuhay Lounge, whoever conceptualised and manage it should have been fired a long time ago, there's more variety on a Jollibee menu than a Philippine Airlines lounge. I've flown with PAL a couple of times and the crew seemed nice, however, they need to update their training and service standards to be at par with at least other 4* carriers. As for catering services, they seem to be doing well, but of course they can still do better.
ALL the airlines you mentioned are *government-owned.* In the case of the Middle East Three, all of them are owned by *oil-rich* governments with billions upon billions of dollars at their disposal.
PAL cannot compete with airlines that have far more cash than them.
@@odeiraoloap Type of ownership is never an excuse for innovation. Eva Air is privately owned by Evergreen Corp yet maintains a status of 5* and I can personally attest to their service. Garuda Indonesia is majority government owned and was deemed for decades the world’s most dangerous airlines to the point they are banned to fly in the EU and American airspaces, now they are a 5* carrier. Meanwhile, PR left all its glamour and glory 3 decades ago, got stuck there and sadly forgot to evolve. I didn't use the term "Middle East 3" because Etihad isn't a good example. It doesn't mean that if you are from a rich country then you have a direct access to the treasury and spend all you want. As any business, you hire a CEO and everyone under it down to ops. EK and QR are not directly ran by their regents. They had to put the right minds and talents in the right places. Everyone is strapped by budget and pressured to generate revenue. I gave examples of large airlines with large fleets, therefore, large expenses. There are factors such as ROI, sustainability or capacity. EY for example is offering The Apartment, is it lavishly luxurious? Yes. Do people want to buy it? Maybe. Do people actually buy it? HECK NO, TOO EXPENSIVE EK AND SQ FIRST CLASS GIVES MORE LUXURIOUS FEEL. Are they able to maximise the capacity of the seats? NO- therefore, it's a revenue loss as they fly with empty seats. Are Saudia, Kuwait Airways or Gulf Air playing the game as they are from oil rich countries? NO. Oman Air offers a decent service and getting better, why? Because they look at the competition and innovate. I Agree with the statement of EK’s CEO Tim Clark about the A380s and how others failed to use them which is relevant to PR. Airlines may have the best assets or resources but it would depend on how you use them just like in any business. PR already have the latest 777s, A321Neos and A350s, sadly there's no change in offers or service. You don't make people book your seats just because you're cheap, you make people crave, and want to fly you because they are willing to pay for the cost of your offer. Now if you're cheap with a fabulous service, then that's even better!
6:00 Miss Universe Philippines 2019 lol
