- Philippine Airlines A350 Business Class is in a class of its own! The Ultra Long-haul service from Manila to New York was the perfect way to get back from my trip on United's Island Hopper flight!
I polled the subscribers to this channel to ask for suggestions, and Philippine Airlines new A350 service from Manila to New York was the winner.
I couldn't have been happier flying on PAL.
In this video, we'll explore what it's like to fly on Philippine Airlines' Business Class in their flagship A350. This route from Manila to New York is currently the eighth longest flight in the world earning a spot as one of the true "Ultra Long-Haul" routes.
The 16+ hours spent in the air on Philippine Airlines A350 Business Class gave me plenty of time to check out the lounge, seat, inflight entertainment, food, and service. I'll even rate them all at the end and compare them to other flights I've taken.

I've traveled 3 times to Manila 2 times on Philippine airlines and they are the best of kindness people in the world. I guess that's why I mairred one.

I know right. Except some taxi driver. Last time refused turn it on meter device. Even it was a public taxi.
Was stuck at LAX on my way to the Philippines. Hong Kong airlines wouldn't let me board, because I had no ticket out of the Philippines. My phone was dead, and I had about an hour and a half to get a ticket. Hong Kong airlines wouldn't help me. The ticket counter at Philippine Airlines was packed with people. At the far end of the counter was a young lady checking something on the computer. I got her attention and tried to explain what was going on. She got in contact with reservations and explained to them what my problem was, and handed me the phone. She stayed with me till I was finished purchasing the ticket. I handed her the phone back and she got on the computer to print my ticket. I wish I had written down her name, so that I could somehow let the airline know what a great person they had working for them. Anyway, I barely caught my flight, and I never used the ticket I had to purchase. Great Airline and great people!
I was also stuck at LAX last February this year because Hong Kong airline wouldn't let me board even though there's still like 2hrs before the flight. As a result, I had to purchase a ticket from another airline for a next day flight. I swear, their staff was rude and wouldn't help me, doesn't even sympathize, very pathetic people. I would never book on them again ever.
It’s common to not let you board with out a exit ticket.
I always buy a ticket to Kuala Lumpur on Cebu pacific. It’s always the cheapest that I find for a throw away ticket.
You should try China Airlines also. They are very good, great room on the plane and friendly staff. I was very pleased, as I normally fly on PAL.

I flew on Philippine Airlines in there 777 from Vancouver to JFK and they were extremely nice. I was very impressed and i am excited to fly with them again.

Sad to say they treat their own people (Filipino) differently. This is a worst airline out there.
Not my experience at all. Saw someone (a Filipino) sitting in a vacant row as there were no more passengers. She was shooed off like a dog. Totally cold service otherwise, intra-Asian flight.

In two years back i was traveling Bohol, the Philippines.
There's a driver that i hired even took me as a guest to visited his home!!! His mother even cooked me a nice meal!!! And he was take me to the local Catholic Church.
Anyway i love Filipino and this beautiful beautiful country, This is a lifetime experience i couldn't forget!!!

I'm so glad to see Philippine Airlines doing so well. I remember the problems they had in the late 1990's when they had to drastically downsize to survive. Now they fly to JFK! Well done PR.

I flew a Philipines Airlines A321LR Sydney to Manilla. Super quiet, nice wide seats for economy, lie flat in business. Fastest entertainment System ever. Nice food in economy.
They're all astonishingly amazing crews. I would've brought them chocolates which they feast over with grateful smiles on their faces. I love Filipinos.

skytrax placed Philippine Airlines in 30th position among the best but awarded this year world's most improved airline, a huge leap from 49th last year

This airline is definitely underrated, the Business class is amazing, and the economy configuration is only 3-3-3 (extremely spacious), the food looked excellent and appetising. The IFE system was modern (I understand that it is a 2018 plane) and had a variety of choices. The FAs seemed friendly and generous. This airline should be up there with Emirates, Qatar, Etihad and Singapore.
Biz class was amazing. PAL is the best.

I flew with PAL from Sydney with stop over in Manila onto Lax, the experience was horrible. They sent us to a so called transfer lounge after taking our passports for immigration purposes when we were just connecting to another flight with them to LAX. They made us wait 3 hrs IN this lounge was dirty had no ac there were even roaches crawling around , when I complained they just said I’m sorry but there is nothing we can do until immigration gets here and we transfer u to another terminal, why would they do this when we’re just passing through? They brought our check in luggage and made us open it and check it, had to go through security FIVE times. After 3 hrs they gave our passports and took us on a bus to our gate. Then the flight was delayed, there were no bathroom at the gate u had to go out and come back through security again. When we finally got on the plane it was a VERY OLD 777-300 and we are told that our remotes for the screens to watch movies is broken, and they asked if no one has told this. The plane is so old that the screen is very at least 3 feet away and cannot be reached without a remote. When we complained all they said just send an email to Philippine Airlines. WORST FLYING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE WILL NEVER FLY THEM AGAIN.

It's just sad how the three major airline alliance with it's snobby CEOs are treating Philippine airlines like a stepchild....They already recruited most of the major Asian carriers (Chinese) to their fold except PAL...tsk tsk shame on them
Nice one! Love the Philippines and not surprised the crew were great. Would love to try this flight one day - unfortunately most of their connecting flights from Australia are narrow bodied.

I definitely agree that Philippine Airlines business class is one of the best. I was fortunate enough to fly roundtrip from Toronto to Manila in business class, the service is superb, the food, the wine is amazing and very comfortable indeed. I did find my IFE in both flights, glitched a lot at times. It was slow to response but that's nothing too serious. I do hope if Philippine Airlines wants to stay competitive they will improve the airport experience in Manila.

They need a big airline (alliance) codeshare partner above all, *especially for flights within the US* (Filipinos are some of the largest immigrant groups in the US. Surely that alone would give PAL a lot of leverage in having codeshare partners).
Paolo Ariedo and Canada too. We now have a Filipino Heritage month to recognize the contributions of Filipinos to Canada
It is vice versa, there have many Canadians, Americans, Swiss, British, South Koreans, Chinese, Japanese etc..are living in the Philippines.
You can't go wrong with Philippine Airlines.

The Philippine people are great ! I have visited 5 times, have family there, flew Philippines Airlines 2 of the 5 so far , and prefer the service over the others by a fair margin !

As a Filipino, it's our pleasure to see foreign individuals whom gave a good feedback in PAL though it's not the best airline and not as nice as the other bigger airlines in the world. PAL has the cabin crews that has a hospitality and kindness to serve every passenger on their flights and made them comfortable.😍💙
Yes, Philippine airlines has the most friendly and hard working crew around. I was fortunate enough to be on that flight (upgraded first class) coming back to the States myself. I loved every minute of it. Thanks for sharing. A new sub here! ✋
There is NO FIRST CLASS..only Economy and Business Class...they DISCONTINUED their first class seat almost 10 year ago. That's a fact.

it's the only airline that goes directly from New York to Manila, the staff is great, the food is very good, the lie flat seats are comfortable. What more could I ask for. I do agree the lounge for Philippine airlines in terminal one is not as good as their other lounge in the other terminal.

16+ hours in Business Class sounds fantastic to me :D Probably, one of the only flights were you get a lot for the money you pay in Business Class.
Fly Around I agree, I can’t imagine paying $4-5k for business class from NY to London for like a 6 hour flight

Filipinos are inherently hospitable, industrious & hard-working people. This is also one of the major reason why Filipinos are sought-after outside the Philippines.

Actually Philippines now is not consider as third world. They are improving rapidly and less debt unlike other countries i can name a lot.
I am not sure if you know the meaning of Third World. Just look look around Manila, such massive poverty everywhere. Lack of jobs, healthcare and education. There are only 2 ways to get rich, first is to be a politician and second is to be an "Artista". If the Philippines is doing good like you said, then why are there so many legal and illegal filipino immigrants in th US seeking better opportunities?
Wouldn't say hard-working, not lazy either. I've seen insane carelessness and bad work ethic here. PLDT promised to install a line, 5 months and many calls and meetings later - nothing. Never seen this happen elsewhere.
I've also seen the opposite, seen people being very prompt and very pleasant.
PAL and Japan Airlines have the best attendants Ive flewn to with.

I flew coach with my wife on Philippine Airlines non-stop from Toronto to Manila last year. Great service! We sat in the last row by the left window. That gave me extra room for my carry-on. The flight was longest I've ever taken but was worth it knowing that when we got off the plane we would already be in Manila.
I just cameback here in toronto flying pal A350 and it was great specially the flight crew. Vietnamese also flying PAL A350 and layover to manila and 1 hour connecting to vietnam and they love the services being rendered.
PAL finally has a *truly world-class* ultra long haul product. Thanks for the coverage.
It's a shame very few will get to experience it because PAL is not an airline alliance member. Their only big partners are Etihad and ANA (their only US partner is Hawaiian, and that's only for inter-island flights. Good luck getting to DFW or IAD from LAX/SFO and JFK.)
Some US credit cards allow you to put points on Etihad. An indirect way to get Phillipines tickets.

I flew from Melbourne to Manila in Business with them a while ago in the A 340-300...the crew were fantastic and looked very clean and neat and the service was brilliant. Did I just see a Flying Kangaroo go past your window!! And you are right about the people in Manila being so friendly and welcoming...but the city its self is a chaotic mess...how do they cope? Glad you enjoyed a great flight and I rate them very highly!!
Okay what impressed me the most was the touch screen on the IFE, had a tablet feel and looked really responsive, not sure about some other airlines but never seen that before

Lounge was great. One of the better ones I've been in.
Philippines Airlines closely rivals Emirates, losing to them by a hair.
I have flown with Philipine Airlines, on this very plane RP-C3504, in November 2018 on flight PR720 Manila to London Heathrow. That was about a 15 hour flight by the time we landed (several trips around the Lambourne Hold) on a supurb 2 month old plane! Even though i flew economy (inc out to MNL on PR721 also a A350) i found the seat pitch great and i am 6ft4in tall with very long legs! The staff were all friendly and the food was good and these aircraft take off quite fast, we shot off down the runway at Heathrow and were airbourne quite quickly. At Manila Ninoy Aquino Airport i too noticed in Terminal 2 that it was run down and a poor selection of food & drink outlets. Not to mention the actual riot of getting in the place, about four lots of security the last of which is at the actual gate where they remove any bottles of drink you have brought for the flight! The airport really needs to get into the 21st century but the Airline i think is one the better ones out there.
We know our facilities are not that great and clean but we're great in generosity and hospitality in foreigners.

Yes , PAL has been my all time favourite airlines to fly with. I only had my experience with the economy class from KUL-MNL and return and yet it was still a great experience. The crew was fantastic, friendly and always give warm smile to the passengers.

I have done the MNL - JFK roundtrip twice in business class as you have on the new A350 (and I got to fly on the 'Love Bus'. I agree with your review 99%. Well done!
I just came back from Manila to Los Angeles on Wednesday unfortunately I did not take business class like very comfortable but as far as international flights in coach went it was spectacular three meals plus the the snack seems like every 20 minutes they came by and offered you a drink hot towels at the beginning of the flight and at the end of flight staff was very accommodating I will fly Philippine airlines from now on went there on one of their newer 777-300 e r's and came back on one of their older triple seven e r's but both planes seem to be in very good order experienced pilots the flight attendants top notch very very good flight even though I spent 14 and a half hours on a flight they made the as pleasurable as it could possibly be

I have flown a lot in my lifetime both in country and international You by far 4 charging an economy rate I have one of the best services I enjoyed your flight very much your staff and crew was accommodating even though I had a few issues with my seat I was able to adapt and overcome but right away your flight attendant offered me another seat I would have felt embarrassed of getting an a better seat I made it work thank you for your staffing your crew I will be flying again to Manila in December 28th and I will be glad to take flight

Even the old planes of pals are still good condition because of smooth landing and good maintinance
ive been fly with Philippine Airlines for the past 10 years and that is my fav airline! the safety, the food, the quality, the ambiance, the money, the services and most especially the staff are really great!!!
As someone who as traveled back and forth between HK and MNL frequently over the past decade, I really agree with Skytrax that PAL is the most improved airline. I used to be frustrated by the frequent delays and poor customer service, but they really have gotten their act together and now flying with them is a pleasure. Go PH!

Philippine Airlines aims to be a 5 star airline. They're on their way it's just that they're being limited by the airport. Great review!
IMO, the biggest limiting factor for PAL is that they're *not part of ANY airline alliance* (Garuda is at least with SkyTeam and partners with Delta and Korean Air, as an example).
When PAL becomes a full member, they'll be much closer to that fifth Skytrax star...

Thanks, Jeb. I really appreciate this particular review. P.A. was an airline I previously would NEVER have considered for long haul, based on their less-than-stellar reputation from previous decades. Instead, I have been opting for SE Asian carriers like SQ and MH. Your review has gone quite a way in changing my mind, and I will - at the very least - seriously consider them in future trip planning. Now if only MNL airport management would improve.

Philippine Airlines is always great! I have been flying with PAL since 1981. The crew personnel can't be beaten and the business class on the Airbus is awesome! HOWEVER, the food varies GREATLY. My last flight from Manila to Honolulu food was HORRIBLE! It was more like bad frozen food.

Still many need to improve with Philippine Airlines even though they got the no.1 spot for Most improved Airline for 2019 according to Skytrax. This airline is incredible. I once flew from Davao to Australia with a changeover in Manila. Bad weather had delayed my departure form Davao and the flight arrived in Manila some 50 minutes later than the designated boarding time of my plane to Sydney. I was AMAZED when officials with my name printed on cards greeted me and rushed me through the terminal and onto the plane that they had held for me till my arrival. One cannot give more praise than I did and appreciation although I did feel sorry for the people who waited during the time the plane was delayed for my benefit.
The Filipinos are among the friendliest people on the planet for sure. They just can't stop smiling!

Philippini Airlines flight crews are the best...i am from UAE we have emirates and etihad but i can say these people are the best guys to be with..i never felt neglected.. The best part are thr smiles these pilipinis are happy people good characters
Jeb, I think you should start leaving out the lounge rating from the overall score. Too many times, I have had to skip the lounge to make my flight on time, and not all airlines have their own lounge to start with so they have to rely on someone else's, which doesn't necessarily reflect well on the actual flight itself. Just my 2 cents. Great video as always!!

I am from the Philippines, and I have flown Philippine Airlines many times since college and I can say they have the friendliest crew ever, even better than Emirates and Etihad. and Cathay Pacific.
