It took me decades to change my diet. I gave up red meat and pork when I was 23 and slowly phased out other items. I've been vegetarian and pescatarian and didn't make the full transition until 3 years ago in my early 50s after trying a few times and failing. I feel amazing and wish I made the switch in my 20s. Thanks for sharing.

hey! when i went vegan, it had more frequent and easy bowel movements (most of the time they didn’t smell), my menstrual cycle was light and short, i didn’t have PMS, and it was on time every month. my hair was growing and my skin was clear. also, my energy was high, i was doing yoga everyday and working out maybe 4-5 days a week. my sleep was better. i was battling ovarian cysts and fibroids from childbearing and when i wasn’t vegan/plant based. now that I’m not vegan, all of these statements are no longer true for me. i’m slowly working my way towards veganism/plantbased. i find that my mind, body and spirit benefits from being vegan/plantbased.
Over this past holiday season I watched 4 documentaries on Netflix about our meat industry in this country and immediately switched to a planted based diet and I am super excited about the changes I hope to see in my health and diet. Thank you so much for sharing your story.
I just went vegetarian and it has been good so far. I do it for health. I’ve always been a healthy eater and the first thing I let go was Pork after that it got easier. I just started juicing as well, and I absolutely love it. I am a very active individual in the gym and I have a bachelor’s degree in nutrition. Toni, I am 52 and I have played with the idea for years. Went cold turkey for 3+ years and went back. Now I am pre diabetic and showing increased risk for heart issues based on my blood work. I have been spending quite a bit of money the last three month with a nutritionist but, my body is telling me I need to go vegan 100%. This video popped up this morning and I know it is a sign.

Well-constructed argument on the benefits of Veganism. You clearly are a thoughtful, kind person. I love meat but can start working more plants into my diet. Be well, Toni. Happy New Year!
It's okay to love meat, but just know that you may not live as long as you were created to. Meat eating people live 10 to 20 years shorter lives than vegetarians and vegans. They are also more likely to be overweight, unhappy, and sick in the last years of their life. If you eat meat regularly. Replacing all your meat and dairy for just one week with nuts, dates, salads, lentils, plant-based meats, and healthy bread/toast will increase your life span. After about two weeks, you will start realizing that you don't need it. You will spend less money on food and you will start looking at everything differently.
Why I went vegan is thanks to the bikers who shot me 5 times, after reconstructing my digestive system the only thing I can eat till this day is beans, potatoes and rice.
Listen I clicked on this video antennas up because I’m always curious about people who post videos about why they went Vegan one of the biggest reason is because as you mentioned just because You Eat Plant Based that doesn’t Make You Vegan. It’s not at all to discredit people who say they eat a plant based diet but reality is being Vegan and making that decision to live in a compassionate manner is more intentional because its not just about Health. N so it’s interesting you bring that up because I feel people don’t understand the two. One is a diet the other a lifestyle. People who take that seriously seem to stay away from meat and dairy their whole lives. While others post videos on why They’re Not Vegam anymore and usually the under lying issue’s in a majority of those videos is that they not only lacked Discipline cause like you said it can be hard but they also lacked INTENTION therefore they could not withstand the trials of that new journey. Of course we all may not eat the same but I don’t like to hear that people try to make it seem like they won’t survive without eggs and steak. I also loved how you challenged yourself and you kept so the research and you took your time to fully transition when you were ready. Sometimes I wish I didn’t jump in cold turkey but it has truly been the best decision I ever made not just for my physical health but my mental and spiritual health as well. Love your story and it’s inspiring because you’re being honest. The journey isn’t black and white but as long as you take the steps you’ll eventually find your way ❤
I really like your perspective. I’m absolutely vegetarian for the climate. I am mostly vegan. But as an omnivore I do have meat or non-vegan foods every year. Usually when I’m traveling or going to new places. But when I’m at home 99% of the time, I’m vegan AF
A lot of contradictions in this comment. A vegetarian nor vegan never consciously chooses to buy and consume animals products if it isn’t necessary. I think you mean to say that you’re a plant based dieter, not a vegetarian/vegan.
Vegans rule.. 👏🏾Nuff said. Well, sort of!? (Don't come for me) 😇 Also, long live the Mycelial Network, and us 'humans' of course. Peace and blessings. 🙏🏾
Toni, girl! I love this! This just helps solidify my belief in creation. We were initially created as the Creator Himself had written Genesis 1:27-30 And God went on to create the man in his image, in God’s image he created him; male and female he created them. Further, God blessed them, and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many, fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving on the earth.” Then God said: “Here I have given to you every seed-bearing plant that is on the entire earth and every tree with seed-bearing fruit. Let them serve as food for you. And to every wild animal of the earth and to every flying creature of the heavens and to everything moving on the earth in which there is life, I have given all green vegetation for food.” And it was so" And the Creator being who He is knew everything you stated in regard to we need the earth, and we ought to take care of it. We were created to do so, and it takes care of us. As a nurse I have come to appreciate the vegetation of the earth and realizing the lack of what the vegetation does provide cause us to have certain diseases and illnesses. Yes, He also gave us permission to eat the animals at Genesis 9:3, 4. However om Hos wisdom, He created everything we needed into the vegetation of the earth. I also have started to become more plant based in my nutritional choices and am learning the beginnings of even seeing that there is protein even in some vegetation. It is amazing! Also living with Sickle Cell Anemia and learning my blood type, I was told by one of my practitioners based on my blood type I would do better with the majority of my nutritional intake to be plant based. I also have come to appreciate since we have endured a pandemic that the vegetation is better and at times more affordable when eaten according to its season it is so much better. I eat less chain restaurant foods and opt to eat at home. I have yet to steer away from the processed foods and learn more about getting a better amount of protein into my daily nutrition and incorporate weekly exercise and movement and hydration to keep my body at its best. Thank you so much, I miss My Natural SIstas but I see that each of you have come into your own in such profound ways. I still go back to those older videos for my hair, but I am happy to have come to watch you, India and Carmen these many years and becoming such instrumental influences and well-rounded women. 😊
There's a lot of misinformation in this video though I don't think it's intentional. If you simply don't like meat or have a certain believe system, that's fine. But you probably weren't eating red meat by itself. So let's not blame meat (red meat specifically) for what those other foods caused! Cholesterol also gets blamed for things like heart disease which is just not true and is actually essential for hormonal function. For anyone considering going vegan, look at videos of ex vegans telling why they had to quit veganism and it's negative effects. Many women have lost their periods after practicing veganism and get it back after quitting veganism.
Looking at videos of Ex Vegans on UA-cam, and their anecdotal evidence is one of the worst ways to understand a subject. Look at the scientific evidence, preferably a Meta Analysis.
@@OmegaPointZen unfortunately "science" can't be fully trusted, as crazy as that sounds. My point is that those who are on the fence about starting a vegan diet would be better off learning from those who have gone through it long term rather than those who most likely are only experiencing the short term benefits of trying anything other than the Standard American Diet.
@@OmegaPointZen most studies are biased; funded by food companies that will obviously not share results that make their products look bad. You tell me, is it good science that eating pizza is considered eating meat because it has meat as a topping? These studies simply aren't reliable. I have more faith in exvegan's anecdotes. Also hard to ignore the results carnivores are getting despite how muchmeat is demonized ..curing chronic conditions..getting off meds.
I feel like vegan is a like a diet of version of healthy meal that became and turn into a healthy new name that's a good idea in my own head however I believe it really has it's own natural qualities just like an individual would be and do to a healthier life style. wow you siting in a yoga position show vegan is more clean and healthy that any one would start it as they new diet more like a style to just eat better. okay love ya help and instruction go Toni Mitchell you Rock! and happy valentine to you and a healthy New year season.
@@jessealmanzar617 That's why you use Meta Analysis. Also, why do you trust the people who "have gone through it"
@@OmegaPointZen most studies are biased; funded by food companies that will obviously not share results that make their products look bad.
Steak dinner 🍽 on me! Pick you up at 7pm. 😳
