Yeah I see it so often, especially where the car is parked under a tree, with all sorts of debris building up and blocking drainage. I thought that would be the problem here, but not so!
Brutal man, I hate water leaks... Like you my valver is inside but 8v is outside under a cover.. Glad you found the source, I sorted all the ones on the 16v when it lived outside years ago. Even tracing leaks via dried in wax trails in the boot lol look for a used aquavac etc... Dry them carpets, bin the sound deadening will never dry :-(
Ah man that is rubbish! I do have a wet vac, which I can use in conjuction with a dehumidifier, so they'll be getting their monies worth 😅 Yea the sound deadening will only be fit for the bin, unfortunately. But it's ancient anyway so makes sense to get some new stuff.
@@golfmk2 when I owned the 8v 1st time back in 06 I used the aquavac in the garage I worked to dry it out b4 I sold it... Garage binned it when I left 🙄 got a used one from Gumtree about 2018 when I was cleaning my farm find nova... Keeping in with the era. Think the vac is from the 80s too 😂 still earning it's keep
Yes it was! But thankfully it wasn't something like a rotten A pillar letting all the water into the cabin, which is what my fear was. Did you end up welding your sunroof due to track use, or is it functional still?
Got myself an Eibach pro kit suspension and shocks! 1k set, but it’ll make the Golf Tour edition look great. Only 8 of these left licenced in the whole UK🥹Any way I can share pics of the golf?
That's a good kit and will transform the drive of the car too. Nice choice! To share pics feel free to join our Facebook group m.facebook.com/groups/371878416967677/?ref=share and pop pictures on there. We'd love to see some. Thanks!
Hi, i need to get 1 arch done on my mk2 gti. Very similar to the welding you had minus the rear clusters. Can you give me a ballpark on what you paid for the arch and spray so i know what ill be aiming at?? Thanks
Hi. I paid £1200 for the work, which may seem a lot, but I'd had it done a few times prior and it the rust always came back. This is using all new metal, so unlikely to make a reappearance.
@@golfmk2 awesome thanks for letting me know. I don't think thats too bad at all. Now I just need to find somewhere near Portsmouth that can do it for that sort of money 🙂
That's OK. It was £1270 for the whole lot, inclusive of VAT, which I don't think is a bad price at all. It wasnt originally going to be that much, but when the paint was taken back, it was evident it needed far more work. I provided the cuts separately. But I'm very happy with the work, so cost kind of becomes irrelevant.
I got a leak this could come in handy now I'm back to owning a MK2 👍💪
For sure! Does the car have carpets? As if not at least it'll dry out nice and easy. 🤣
Keep grinding brother I watched some of your older videos then this one and the progress in the editing and the shots is amazing so just keep going!!
That means so much! Makes it all worthwhile. Thank you. 😊
I saw a sneaky peak of the next vid... It keeps getting better!
👀 No spoilers please. I 'CAN't' deal with them 😉
Jo's singing. :) More!
The voice of an angel... about the only angelic thing about her. 😉
Nice video, thanks for the tips how to find and fix water leaks 👍
Appreciated. Thank you and I hope it helps you, should you be having similar issues.
Very well known issue on the Mk2 Golf , really well presented video showing this issue :)
That's really appreciated. Thanks. 😁
Vauxhall Vectras had same issue where the rubber bung in the same area got leaves trapped and flooded inside.

Lovely finish to the ex-rusty bits 👍😎
Yeah I'm really pleased with the standard of work. The bodyshop have done well. Thanks for watching.

A nightmare to find!! Good spot 🤩

Great video, just picked up a MK2 16v and the sunroof arms are rotted away. I now expect the drain holes to be blocked.
Thank you. It's quite probable this is your issue. Use the techniques I showed and it'll clear them in no time. Happy hunting!
Top tips, cheers
No problem, thanks. ☺️

@@bartlfc480 certainly can. Thanks so much for sharing. What a beauty. Puts ours to shame! 🥲
@@golfmk2 hahaha it’ll never be a gti or g60. Mine is not to special I think
@bartlfc480 ours is only a GL with a daft engine in it, so ones in good condition are always nice to see. 🙂

I know it’s rude to talk money. But how much did the bodywork cost you ball park?
That's OK.

Yeah definitely worth that I’d happily pay that .
