Thanks for this vid, I will be looking in all the usual suspected areas now for leaks, I suspect the sunroof drainage channels, or scuttle panel drain as I have drivers foot well puddle after it rains, and I've already changed the heater matrix. but its also good to know where to try to avoid blockages in future by regularly checking these areas.
Hey Tim. Thanks for the shout out. Great video representation of my guide. I hadn’t realised you’d done this. Must be handy having access to some many real life examples 👍
Great vid 👍 watching today to refresh my memory as I noticed rear passenger footwell soaked on my 8v mk2 🙄 cant really complain, first major leak on a mk2 in 10 years or so 😁 edit; seems passenger dont hadnt shut properly for best part of two weeks... hopefully thats all it was 🤞
Pretty sure not mentioned here is a leak I've discovered which is from the lower electrical sensor on a part that has hoses and three Electrical Sensors (Two on top and one below). Dead cente in engine bay. I don't know what the part is called so let me know all info please? Could it be a rubber washer that has perished and easily replaced? Seems to be griped in by a Spring clip. Need to get this Car away after eight years sleeping. Bad start and don't even mask about the Calipers. BTW after taking out the slide pins should the Caliper come away or is there more to it than that? Brake shoes Locked solid. Doh!
Along with this topic, when i still had my mk2 2.0 16v on the road, if i would hit a puddle and water splashed up into the engine bay, it would shut off and wouldn't start again until it was dry, I'm unsure where the water is splashing to cause this
Battery tray on my MK2 Golf always floods when it rains. Have kept on top of this proplem by constantly drying it out .I think it must be a characteristic of the mk2's as plug hole incorporated.Seems as bonnet does not fit snuggly to wings ,this must be an inherent problem? Comments welcome! .
Hey Mate, Thanks for the tips. I have a leak on my RHD footwell on the floor below the mat that I can't seem to solve. What I have done so far: I've sealed off the base of the fresh air vent, the hood release cable base in the scuttle, cleaned out the scuttle drain holes on both sides and checked the sun roof channels and they are all clear... Could there be another grommet or hole near the windscreen wiper mechanism that could leak to that spot? Keep up the good work!
Have you checked the door membrane on the side you have the leak or the door seal. There’s loads of rubber grommets in the bulk head so always worth a check 👍🏻
@@cnat_sepll Mine resolved itself. I siliconed some weld marks on the body under the cowl. I think I had a hair line crack that was causing it. I also hardly ever leave my car outdoors, that probably helped too
do you have a replacement windshield with poor seals? mine get wet from water that seeps through a crack in the seal, thru a headliner gap and travels along the sun visor onto my seat
I didn't like it when you said these cars will still suffer from a little bit of rust even the ones looked after. I polish my car nearly every week and don't go out with it in the rain😭😭😭
It sucks man but it’s basic chemistry. Even the grey coupe that is solid underneath has a little bit creeping in on the body so we’ll address that this year.
They're not as bad as some old Italian or British cars, but they do get the odd bit here and there, common place to go is the rear inner arches where they join to the sill, also around the rear tow hook on the rear valence, and the rear drivers side window at the bottom in the middle, I have 2 Golf's that have started to go there in almost exactly the same place.

Thanks mate 👍🏻 Yeah this was an early video, it still gets a lot of views though.

Also do you have a video on resealing the windscreen?

Thanks for the vid made my life a hell of a lot easier ✌🏻
Thanks Brannon, I hope you got it sorted. Leaky mk2’s are not fun 👍🏻
Thanks for the help it was the mk2 sunroof drains buggers. What’s the intro song need to rock that in my mk2
Glad you got it sorted :) The music is from iMovie soundtracks and it's called Neon
Thanks again 👍
Anyone know where window seal can be bought?!
The water pipe for the rear window washer could be perished or damaged so each time you wash your rear window it could be leaking into the car as well
Hello Tim, my seatbelt gets soaking wet after heavy rain, have you ever heard about it before? My sunroof drain is all right.
Could be your door seals with the water leaking in through those. Either the door membrains or the rubber seal might be worth looking at?

Hello, I am having the same issue, everything is clear and dry other than the carpet. Did you ever solve the issue?

@@jayisk82 ah ok, thanks for the response - especially after 3 years!
Both front seats are wet. It's non sunfroof, two door mk2. Does anyone have an idea what could it be?
Thanks

Out of all these... The thing leaking inside is green... 😂 It took a while to get that f***ing matrix out
Anything other than whats on Edypeck’s list, is really uncommon stuff.
