Hello - Kathy here - thank you for doing this one. I am 68 years old and remember when this song came out. Steven Tyler is an amazing piano player and has a voice you would recognize as soon as he opens his mouth. He is a legend! And at 70 something years old, he is still singing this song and anything else he wants to, and his vocals are still amazing. And he wrote this when he was 17 years old but didn't record it until he became a member of Aerosmith. Love the reactions both of you had to this song. You need to check out a live version of this song. I think he did this for Howard Stern's birthday. There is a UA-cam video on here of that performance. You will love it! So glad to see the younger generation discovering the music I grew up on. This band and Steven Tyler are just legends. Thanks - Check out their Collab with RDNC - Walk this way! It's a banger! LOL
You've only scratched the surface on the Classic Rock genre. You should react to some songs by the band "Boston": "More Than a Feeling", "Foreplay/Long Time", and "Smokin'" are iconic Classic Rock songs.
I agree. Next recommended classic rock song that will blow your mind: “Foreplay/Longtime” by Boston (I recommend your first listen of any classic rock song be the studio/audio version (or the lyric videos that you have been using). There are nuances and details in those songs that concerts and live performances tend to drown out.)
i love everything Aerosmith but this is by far my most favorite song. I also love that for being so young you have an appreciation for good old music, and that you, young man have a grin from ear to ear when listening to them. its so wonderful to see a young couple enjoy the classics.
Love seeing young people discover classic rock. Try the group Chicago. Their first album, first cut is a song call "Introduction" and it is just that, a perfect introduction to this band for first time listeners., One favorite group of mine that I have not seen a single reactor do is Blood, Sweat and Tears. Maybe start with the song "Lucretia McEvil". I have literally hundreds of other suggestions if you decide you like these.. I was born in the 50's and lived 60's and 70's rock. Keep enjoying, you two.
Now look up the live version .Dream on" Steve Tyler, Slash, Train at Howard Stern Birthday bash. Steve is about 70 years old in this live performance, Still Rocks it.
This is their 1st album, 1973. Singer Steven Tyler is 23 yrs old here, plz check out a band called Chain Reaction with a song "When I needed you" from 1966, Steven Tyler is singing and playing drums, he was 16 yrs old. Amazing!!
This is 1 of the 5 Epic songs. Check out Robin Trower-Bridge of Sighs, Deep Purple-Smoke on the Water, Tool-46 and 2, Led Zeppelin-Stairway to Heaven. Enjoy
'Dream on' was written by a young Steven Tyler (lead vocals) of Aerosmith, when he was a broke, struggling musician in the Boston scene, hoping for a shot to make it big as a rocker... a very pure lyric. Of course, this was before Aerosmith broke big in 1975, and then the drugs, women & alcohol wasted their potential for a decade. Be careful what u wish for, I guess... fame & fortune bring their own share of problems...
just sub, its awesome that you guys appreciate old music. Your on the road to 50K! BTW do Train keepa rolling and seasons of wither off get your wings album. Last child too, to many to list
You need to watch the Postmodern Jukebox/Morgan James version of this! EPIC!!! Now check out both PMJ's and Morgan's other covers. You will not be disappointed...
I loved watching you 2 vibe out to old white dude classic rock. I was diggin' Aerosmith (and the like) as a weed smokin' teenager 50 years ago back in the mid 70s. Rock was born from the rock 'n roll of the post WWll era, and that was born from the blues and that's something you should both explore...your own peoples musical past....the old black MIssissippi Delta blues artists. I know and play them all. It's all a big ol' circle. Vibe on...
