Nailed it. And theirs nothing wrong with that. I grew up with steve but my baby is growing up with josh 😅 its still a good show. I miss the old intro though.
And I love three of the them all the same (maybe with a bit more of love for Steve and Joe than Josh but I still love him) as same as Spider-Man's movies
LazyTown originally started off as a series of stage plays. Only nine out of many characters made it into the show. I wish some of them returned as one-shots.
I always wondered as a kid why there was only ever 9 characters. Like, that’s a smaller cast than even Ed Edd n’ Eddy(and part of that show’s whole POINT was the small cast), of course the audience would question that even at that age!
@@ForrestFox626 yes, Icelandic stage show, Sportacus actor is actually the creator of the lazytown franchise, and he played Sportacus in the 90s stage show along with Stephan playing robbie in the 90s stage show aswell
i did research and every source i could find shows that they were not played by the beatles. the fact that both john and george were dead at the time of that episode
Don't know if anyone else mentioned yet, but I remember The Upside Down Show was such a weird show. It'd be on at like midnight, or some time like that, and I'd feel cool staying up past bedtime to watch it, immediately preceding a random episode of Dragon Ball Z Kai. The main characters warped between different rooms inside their house walking through doors, they had a pet fly, stuff like that.
I barley remember that show. It felt like a fever dream to me because I remember it airing late at night with oobi & Oswald (this in the early 2010’s I’m talking about)
I remember it would play it like wild hours on the channel that played exclusively Nick Jr. shows and it was a trip every single time for my sleep deprived child brain. Honestly kind of a vibe though, I really enjoy strange children's programming and it definitely shaped my interest in that sort of thing.
The reason I liked Dora as a kid mainly was because of the obvious point-'n-click aesthetic of the show. I was into computers, so when they scrubbed the intro as the show went on my brain was like, "Noooooo...the beach house was awesome!"
@@oofmann I'm going to assume you are 11. That's the only reason you wpie comment something so ignorant.. considering more people speak Spanish across the world than English..
Honestly Swiper was one of my favorite characters from this show. In the first season. He is more an obstacle. But in later seasons starting in season 2. We see he’s not really a bad guy. Just a child who doesn’t know better. And starting in season 3. We see a more soft side to him. And season 4? Oh my gosh! If you remember season 4! He has a lot of appearances! One of my favorites being Dora’s dance to the rescue! That special was amazing! And of course can’t forget Dora’s world adventure! Where Dora admits she’s always seen Swiper as her friend. Which yeah. Wholesome cuteness overload!!!
I remember the early Nick Jr era (2009 - 2012) and I also remember Moose and Zee. I also remember being disappointed one day in April 2012 when they got rid of a lot of the Moose and Zee segments between shows. It marked the end of an era for me.
There was something cathartic about seeing Steve come back in that clip. I a 29 year old man just started crying. I ran to my mom and said Steve came back she knew exactly what I was talking about. It’s like Mr. Rogers, when you’re a child and someone on the tv says let’s play a game you have no idea they are just talking to a camera. They really put their all into it and I thank them every day.
Couple things: 1. Face actually came back last year! No one watched it, but he had his own show full of music videos (preschool friendly ones) It was called Face's Music Party. :) 2. Binhyah Binyah? Yeah, he also got his own reboot series--which....didn't get very far. 3. In that show with Dora as a teenager? Believe it or not that's actually not Diego. That's her new friend Pablo. But considering that the two characters look almost identical? I can't blame you for not knowing. ;) 4. The reason you don't remember Bob the Builder being British is because....he wasn't on Nick Jr. They got the same show yes, but with an American dub with American voice actors. Great video analysis!
Unpopular Opinion But Little Bill honestly has a special place in My heart. When I was watching that show, I wasn't familiar with other shows that had a Black Main character and had a life what was similar to my own. Even now(Despite me not agreeing with or even liking Bill Cosby) I smile when I see clips of this show. I'm not sure if I actually like it or if it's that Rose colored glasses effect tho
Ironically conservatives would call little bill a woke show just because there’s a black kid, and that nick or whatever was too diverse and progressive at the time....lol no joke conservatives are that dumb. Those grublins from Spyro dawn of the dragon know nothing about reality they are nazis.
The funniest thing about Lazytown is that Robbie putting all that effort into stopping everyone is such a non-lazy thing to do. Trying to stop them literally has him being more active than he was before. It's so ironic and funny.
I think that's a big reason why Sportacus never fully stopped Robbie from what he was doing. The plans he made to ruin their activity were never too much for Sportacus and the kids to handle, and it got Robbie out of the house for the first time in years. Makes sense that a guy obsessed with exercise would think of that first.
@@cfruge444 as with Anpanman’s archenemy Baikinman, it’s both hilarious and satisfying that the main villain of an Icelandic book based kids show has more personality than any other main preschool show villain in existence.
I always thought Stephanie and Lava Girl were played by the same actress, but they’re weren’t 😆 I also always wanted to dye my hair hot pink because of them
my sister is 6 years younger than me, so by the time i started aging out of some of these shows, she was just aging in. i can honestly say that olivia, wubbzy, and ni hao, kai-lan were always my favorites when she had the remote. felt just as warm as the shows i watched at her age.
In my day, Dora for me , was the icing on the cake, taught you Spanish, and the best part, your parents know what they’re watching, or not….. you choose!
Whoa 😮 the crazy thing is for me Dora teaching me Spanish never stuck in my head so i commend you for being able to retain English from Dora 😊 (unless I’m the reason it never stayed in my memory 🤔)
Joe had a whole 3 episode arc for us to get used to him and there's even an episode introducing us to Steve and Joe's childhood. I still never got the misconception.
That's just it. We got used to Joe, but we weren't prepared for Steve's departure. I honestly thought that Joe was going to become part of the cast alongside Steve. It didn't really help that Steve never brought up going to college until that very episode. Not even in the first two of Joe's arc. So I think many people can be excused for being distraught by Steve's leave.
@@ThomperfanHe did bring up one time in one episode of the same season he left that he would LIKE to go to college someday, but we all know that meant nothing to our child brains.
@@Thomperfan Blue's School. Paramount+ has it in the wrong episode order and I don't know the correct one, but it's in Season 4. After the mailtime segment, Steve mentions that someday, he'd like to go to college, but before any child can process what that means, Tickety shows up to bring Steve somewhere else.
You just opened up the lost memories of my childhood with this video. -Little Bear -Max and Ruby -BLUE’S CLUES! -Dora the Explorer -Yo Gabba Gabba -Wow wow Wubbzy! -Olivia (The list goes on) When Steve left the show it tore me up. But when he AND Joe came back, I was jumping with joy! (Also Steve’s video message about how he never forget about us, made me cry like a baby.)🥹
The Backyardigans were the inspiration behind a series of skits I did in high school, namely because each short episode was accompanied by a different genre of music!
David Attenborough's been real quiet since Go Diego Go dropped. And music truly is a powerful thing, as shown with The Backyardigans and Lazy Town. So Lazy Town was based off a series of plays called Áfram Latibær! (itself adapted from a book that Scheving wrote in 1991) and Glanni Glæpur í Latabæ. Originally in the plays, the characters weren't puppets, but they started using puppets in 1999. Julianna only played her in seasons one and two. While Chloe Lang played her in seasons three and four. And in the pilot, she was played by Shelby Young (who's Leia in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga). In the UK, they didn't have Steve nor Joe! Instead, they had Kevin who's Cameroonian! I think Steve was such a good host because he never felt like he was talking down to the kids. Kids know when they’re being talked down to and shows that don’t do that tend to be more successful. Same reason I couldn’t stand Dora, all she ever did was talk down
You know, with Little Bill, it's kind of interesting to see that the show didn't portray Bill in a flattering light all the time. It depicted him as being... like a child. He did mean things, he took things too far, he said insensitive things, he got mad when things went wrong even when he didn't mean to cause trouble.... kinda like a kid. It's kind of a contrast to the actual Bill Cosby whose characters were 98% "positive discrimination".
I'm 23 years old and I still watch blue's clues to this very day I usually have my own handy dandy notebook but I would never forget Steve's heartwarming message
I got shocked when you mentioned Lalaloopsy because I thought no one even remembered that the dolls existed until they were brought back at Walmart. I still have at least 8 of those dolls in my closet lol
I was so surprised and excited when he brought it up because I actually love that show. I’m 14 and I collect the dolls and I love watching the shows and movies because they’re really comforting and nostalgic for me.
Lalaloopsies (both the dolls and the shows) were my jam when I was a kid!! My mom and I made my dolls little houses out of cardboard and fabric to set up in my room when I played with them, good times.
You know why you don't remember Bob the Builder having a British accent? They dubbed it for American audiences. I thought I got mandela'd when I heard Bob speak with a British accent
I loved Wonder Pets as a kid! I've always been an animal person, and Wonder Pets was literally a show about helping cool animals all over the world. I watched it about as often as I could. That and Lazytown, god both of those were my absolute favorites as a kid.
Talk about a trip down memory lane!!! Nick Jr was everyone’s thing to watch back then while staying home from school or even on Noggin! Thanks Conner for such an amazing nostalgia trip!
A few other things I liked about the Backyardigans: • The fact that along with each episode having a different kind of imagination adventure, they also have different kinds of music genres for each episode! I had wondered why my mom liked the music in the very first episode in particular until I found out that the music was regae (forgot how it's spelled. Sorry ^ ^'), and it made much more sense since my mom was into that music genre! • Pablo panicking. They're not as available in the seasons after the first one, but they are there, and they're great everytime! Not only were they pretty funny, but I'd say that they're probably the parts where it sort of reminds you that they're just a bunch of kids playing together. Like, even though they're aware that it is just a game, a problem can arise in said game that gets Pablo genuinely worried hence him panicking. Oh, and sometimes it isn't even him panicking and is actually him being excited over something! But whether it be from worry or from excitment, they both end up the same way: he gets so caught up in that moment that it's all he could think about until his friends help him get back to it. Oh, and the others' ways of reacting to them is interesting too! Since they're kids, they obviously don't know exactly why he thinks that something in a game they're playing gets him this worried or excited, so there are some times where they do show some annoyance to it. However, they never actually get mad at him for it and instead, after he calms down, they find a way to get out of the pretend situation they're in! Sometimes, they even add the play names in (Like in the episode "Eureka!"), but for the most part, they just say his name straight up • Since it's a show about kids using their imaginations, they can also get away with making the kids animals while also showing or mentioning humans throughout the show! Since they are just human children who are most likely also imagining themselves as animals, with Tyrone going a step further by mentioning he's a moose and even mentioning antlers (since I'm almost certain he's the only one who's ever had his animal name said). The others just join in on him saying that!
@@ethnictendo Well if the show ever gets rebooted, they might reference Pablo being a penguin, Austin being a kangaroo and maybe even bring up what Uniqua is (she's a uniqua btw, a creature that was created for the series)
Bro shat on half of my favorite shows, "Yo Gabba Gabba!", "Ni Hao Kai-Lan", FUCKING DINO DAN! He didn't even mention Team Umi Zoomi! Also, I shouldn't have to type this, BUT IM JOKING! Those are still my favorite shows tho, Literally lived on Nick Jr.
Olivia the Pig was made in 2000. It was a book series prior to receiving an animated adaptation. She did have two younger brothers, but one wore a red tank top and the other wore black and white stripe pants, so it was most likely changed to a blue shirt to capitalize on Peppa the Pig.
Fun fact:Oswald was made by the same folks that did Bob the Builder and the same man that created Bob the Builder, Keith Chapman also created the Paw Patrol as well,
@poo poo I grew up watching paw patrol my friend, I'm younger than you think, and I genuinely don't think it has as much substance as Bob the Builder or Oswald
Not to mention that The Backyardigans utilizes music from all over the world. Not only was it entertaining to watch, it did good on exposing kids to non-western music, something that really came in handy in one of my music classes in college. I’d have moments in class where I’m like “wait, I’m already familiar with Rembetika/Bhangra/Cumbia”
@@paulgilbert5278 The Backyardigans not only introduced me to Bhangra and Cumbia, it also contained elements from both music genres because Canada has a diverse immigrant population.
Anyone else remember eating an entire tube of Little Bear edible kid's toothpaste as a midnight snack? Edit: Uh... This was supposed to be a joke. How have so many people eaten this toothpaste? What made it so irresistible?
somehow, the exact moment i decided to snack on the little bear toothpaste, was ALSO the exact moment my parents decided to open the bathroom door. it's like they knew
Grey Griffin/DeLisle also voiced Azula around the time Wubbzy aired...so you could say Wubbzy was wholesome during the day, firebending destroyer at night on the same network. Bro, kid me was scared of Face. I kept calling him the "Nick Jr monster" because I kept getting nightmares about him (so when I realized they got rid of him for Piper, boy was I glad). Then my mom discovered Noggin for me, and I'm so glad she did because Moose A. Moose and Zee are so wholesome. And it had unique shows made just for Noggin like The Upside Down Show, Oobi, and Jack's Big Music Show. And of course, there's The N for older kids which got Americans hooked on Degrassi. Another thing about the Gullah: Their culture became what it is today because of a period of relative isolation from whites while working on large plantations in rural areas. The Africans, who came from both Central and West Africa, developed a creole culture that has preserved much of their African linguistic and cultural heritage from various peoples. And binyah means someone who is native to the Gullah community, as in someone who's been there a long time...a "been-yah".
As soon as you mentionned Little Bear and Franklin, my heart warmed and I started to cry a little bit. Honnestly, these shows were the DEFINITION of cozy slice of life stories. :') 🥰
Never thought about the Yo Gabba Gabba ADHD thing but as someone who was diagnosed with it in the third grade, it makes a ton of sense why I watched it as much as I did.

Little bill was one of my favorite shows growing up because I could relate on the environment as a little girl living in west Philly. Despite bill Cosby being bill Cosby, the show was (looking back) very nostalgic and in a way relatable
9:14 As someone who watched both Little Bear and Franklin, I can point out plenty of differences. The biggest difference is that Franklin's world doesn't have (or at least, doesn't show) humans, while Little Bear had humans and a regularly appearing human girl character that you can even see in one of the clips here. Thus, the two worlds are different, with Little Bear being a much smaller community as the world outside is full of humans, while Franklin's world could be as big as ours with talking, bipedal animals being the main or sole race.
Little Bear had such a charming artstyle my god. if there's ever a version of me that either has kids or has to look after someone else's, i'm definitely going to put that on for them...somehow
Steve in College on his first test: *What is 1 + 1?* Steve: "This is a hard question. I better go on a 22+ Minute adventure to find some clues to the answer."
That's not a collage math test, a collage math test would include things like equasions or algebra, I'm pretty sure Steve would do the same thing though! 🤣

Alongside Playhouse Disney and Sprout, Nick Jr. & Noggin were my jams back in the day. One of my favorite shows were LazyTown, Dora the Explorer, Wow Wow Wubbzy, Corn & Peg, Go Diego Go, The Backyardigans, and Blue’s Clues. Those shows were a lot of fun and I’m happy that I got to experience it throughout my life. It’ll forever have a place in my heart. Awesome video Conner, keep it up!
I still love The Backyardigans to this day. The songs are still so great and I listen to them a lot. I used to watch Blue’s Clues and Dora the Explorer a ton when I was younger. Wow Wow Wubbzy and Wonder Pets were also ones that I watched often. Yo Gabba Gabba was insane and I remember watching it for a little while, but I couldn’t tell you anything that I remembered from it. Me and my sister were more Playhouse Disney fans when we were younger, but we did watch our fair share of Nick Jr.
Ive always liked quality as a kid. I would love shows like Little Bear, Franklin, Thomas and Bob the Builder. Those were great and soon during the mid 2000s everything was turning 3D. Stop motion and 2D looked beautiful!
I have a vivid memory of being up at like 6:30am at my grandma's house watching Blue's Clues and when I said out loud where the clue was and he immediately 'responded' I thought he had actually heard me 😅 idk why but something about being up early while everyone else was still asleep made me think there weren't as many kids watching that he had to listen to 🤣🤣
A lot of the later shows Conner reviewed were shows I grew up on and saw when I was in daycare. That Spider show, Pinky Dinky Doo, Yo Gabba Gabba, Wow Wow Wubzzy and you forgot about the Upside Down Show. Those shows were my childhood
This makes me very nostalgic. I experienced a lot of trauma at a very young age in the late 90s and early 2000s, and Nickelodeon in general always gave me a great sense of comfort.
Alright confession time about my childhood experience with Nick Jr. -Steve was one of my earliest celebrity crushes at the small age of 6. -I always thought Franklin was the 5th ninja turtle. -Ive always been a fan of Olivia with her kickass theme song. Peppa can suck it. -I always thought Blue was male, turns out she's the lesbian lover of Magenta. -I always get Joe confused for Josh Peck. -I get Stephanie (Lazy Town) crazy confused with Lavagirl, Beauty from Bo Bo Bo and Amy Rose. To this day, I still think shes cosplaying as Amy.
I was so into Gullah Gullah Island as a kid. I forgot about it for the longest time, but once I was reminded about it, I remembered I really loved it. It also taught me the seasons, so I gotta be thankful to it.
Gonna be honest, Little Bear was my favorite show when I was a toddler, and I haven’t seen any other piece of media replicate the vibe it had. It exists in a separate but parallel world to our own. There’s no hate between people, only love for your fellow living creatures. There’s still practically an entire unoccupied continent to explore in the late 1800s/early 1900s setting, the world is vibrant yet familiar and cozy. There’s an entire world out there to explore and be the first to discover if you want to, with almost no danger to exploring (almost, I saw the movie). Your biggest medical concern is spending like a day with a sore throat due to the mumps (I guess it’s mild in this universe). The soundtrack draws out both feelings of nostalgia and coziness. Ultimately it’s relatable for all ages because of lot of episodes mostly center around Little Bear and his friends having good times doing stupid stuff in the woods, something that is universal to all age groups. I wish there were more shows like it (no Franklin doesn’t count) Also the Little Beat universe has *MUSICAL GHOST RACOONS THAT SNEAK INTO YOUR HOUSE ON STORMY NIGHTS THROUGH THE CHIMNEY AND COBBLE TOGETHER INSTRUMENTS OUT OF RANDOM CRAP YOU HAVE LAYING AROUND TO PLAY MUSIC WITH*
why is it that these old kid's shows have more heart and soul then like 90% of current modern day films and shows? oh wait a little something called dedication and care for what they were doing!
Everything today is based on appealing to the lowest common denominator in hopes to generate the most income, that's it. No heart, no soul, no passion.
nick jr was genuinely one of if not THE BEST kids channel for me personally, I didn't know what slice of life was back in the day. but the amount of nick junior shows that were just that, Were some of my favorites. a group of friends, (commonly animal friends) just getting along and having a fun time. But i think it was right for me specifically because i was a socially akward kid with adhd. Seeing a group of friends having fun in a world i could vicariously take part in, sorta helped me more then i thought it did. It gave me a sense of belonging. As weird as it was, it was my home away from home. Also, do you guys remember when Nick Jr. and Noggin were separate companies?
Blues Clues was my favorite show as a kid. I absolutely loved it, and was legitimately obsessed with it for several years. I was less than a year old at the time, but i still have memories of when Steve first left and Joe joined. Even now, I'll occasionally go back and watch an episode or two. I even have really fond memories of watching Blue's Room (specifically the season when Joe was there), and I legitimately loved it.
omg, I was 13-14 when Lazytown came out and I was SHAMELESSLY watching it. I got bullied in school for it, but you know what? I didn't care. and just recently, like 3-4 years ago, I found s3-4 and I CAN ONLY RECOMMEND. I was into the jokes back then as well, and they are still the same, s3-4 was even better than s2, for me. the songs are absolute bangers, every time when I come across ANY of them, I listen to them. damn. and we all became Robbie as adults. sadly the fandom was unacceptably toxic after 2017, but if you don't interact with them, you can enjoy the show very much.
It's scary how accurate your views on these shows mirrors mine. Especially with Blues Clues literally shaping my life as well. I loved that show so much.
I watched Blues clues in the beginning, the day Steve left was basically the day I stopped watching. I didn't take it seriously at first, thinking it was just a plot point for the episode. I'll admit, I shed a tear when you played that scene with him leaving, and him returning saying that he remembers us and were still friends til this day.
Steve had an appearance in the 100 (or 200th?) episode special, had occasional appearances and Blues Clues & You, AND the recent movie. I don't know why people think just left forever.
I loved seeing some of my favorite shows on here (blues clues, wow wow wubsy (yes I loved that show), etc.) but there was ONE nickelodeon show that I have always remembered even to this day. That show is Jack's Music Show. That shit was my childhood. It used puppets and basically had them go through different things like music and drawing and other stuff. But there was one part of the show that will always be with me even to this day and that was Mr. Strings. In one of the episodes, the gang would be looking at different intruments and one of them would break. So, they decide to call Mr. Strings who is a master of string instruments. The song that he plays with his instruments has gotta be one of the best songs I've ever listened to. The amount of pure charm and enthusiasm that he had while singing that song has shaped my childhood for years. Anyways, sorry for the giant paragraph but I needed to address it. I also remembered that there was another segament of nick jr with a moose and a bird called moose and zee which was a part of noggin (which was a part of nick jr with its own shows) and, like Mr. Strings, had some really awesome songs (one of being using my noggin today). However, with all of this out of the way, I'm so glad that other people know about the many nick jr shows that I watched as a kid, it just fills me with joy to see that so many people got to see the different shows that have taught me letters, numbers, spanish/chinese...and whatever yo gabba gabba was supposed to teach. So uhh...yeah I've had my nostalgia filter in this comment enough so that's all from me for now.
I use to watch a lot of classic Nick Jr shows back in the good old days. Like Eureeka's Castle, the Busy World of Richard Scarry, the World of David the Gnome, Dora the Explorer, and Ni Hao, Kai-Lan. Face was such a funny guy, I liked how he always trumpeted every time he said Nick Jr. Nick Jr. truly was a good show to watch as a kid, at least back in the good old days. Old it's lost its good touch, along with other shows like Cartoon Network and Disney.
My mother used to record Nick Jr. shows for my sister and I on VHS and eventually after seeing Ferocious Beast enough times she actually incorporated "Great Googly Moogly" into her standard vocabulary (Similar thing hapoened with my Dad and "So help me" from Monsters Inc., though he doesn't really say it anymore)
I am younger but i watched a good portion of these shows growing up. I remeber loving YoGabbaGabba. That time mcr appeared on there is litterally what shaped my future music taste lol. I also have specific memories of watching reruns of lil bill before preschool.
DUDE! This was such a massive nostalgia trip! I’ve literally seen all of these shows as a kid and remember most of them fondly! Until like Conor said Lazy town. After that I didn’t have cable anymore….actually I still remember some of them so maybe I had it a bit later then I thought?
I'm also in the "I don't remember Bob the builder being this British" group. My brother loved that show! Speaking of Oswald as well, They had a little point and click game on the website where you were in a cafe serving Oswald and his friends tasty dishes. Dude was so chill he just asked for the special.! Thanks for a fun video Also wow did I forget Face was a thing. What a nice memory.
I don’t think I watched much of the show, so I can’t really speak to how good the show was, but Olivia is actually based on a series of children’s book from the early 00s and I loved them as a kid!
7:41 I think Franklin was more grounded in reality than Little Bear was. It was more slice of life, while it had a storybook forest setting, it was obvious the characters lived in the present day, and Franklin would go to school and have to deal with everyday problems, such as getting scammed by a comic book ad and accidently ruining a library book and having to tell the truth about it. Little Bear, on the other hand, was more fantasy. It obviously took place in the Victorian era, and had mermaids and goblins and other mythical creatures in it There were no realistic conflicts in it, just Little Bear having fun adventures. Little Bear wasn't designed to be relatable like Franklin was.
27:31 Funny you should say that. There were two forklifts in the stop motion series of Bob the Builder, and both were girls. As for not remembering it being British, that's because there was a US dub of the series in 2001.
Thankyou for shining that light on all I used to watch as a kid. My favourite show was Team OomyZoomy, no one but my family seemed to know of its existence. But I did and I loved it.
22:40 Oh yeah, I remember watching that movie. I don't remember much FROM it though, but that scene stuck in my head and had me laughing for awhile. Just the simple thought of Dora pulling out a bowie knife had me rolling on the floor. So I guess the movie did SOMETHING right.
Im just now remembering all of these shows that I used to watch as a kid, and it brings a tear to my eye to see these shows again after so many years 😭 I LOVED THESE SHOWS 💕
My aunt brings up the fact I used to make her watch Yo Gabba Gabba whenever I try to get her to do something. That show apparently was that bad. But I have ADHD so I loved it
90s and 2000s kids shows give u such a beautiful feeling i cant explain it, i suggest u show these to your little ones when theyre young. Its better than leaving them unsupervised on UA-cam.
Another thing about The Backyardigans, it started out as a live action pilot episode back in 1998 called "Me and My Friends" but didn't get picked up as an actual series so they made an animated pilot in 2001-2002 which only featured Pablo, Tyrone and Uniqua. Tasha's character was created around that time but wasn't used and Austin wasn't created until the actual show was in production and first aired in 2004. There are a few screenshots and clips of the both pilots online and on UA-cam and even some people uploaded the "intro" for the animated pilot, which is just the normal season 1 intro with Austin being cut out.
As cool as it was seeing the "Me and My Friends" pilot stuff, I'm SO glad it wasn't picked up back then. It looked cool, but the costumes for the characters looked a bit creepy and I'm sure that that aspect along with other things about it wouldn't have had as big of a cultural impact as it has now. The decision to make it from live action to animated was honestly such a good one. It made the once slightly disturbing looking costume designs into designs that were so endearing and fun to look at, it made for some much better "played out" scenes, and it makes plenty of the jokes in it stick out better! Even the ones that COULD play out well in live action just hit better in animation!
Oh my God. I had to come back. I found something out about Me and My Friends that honestly makes me smile The reason it was rejected was because Dora the Explorer was greenlit! So not only did Me and My Friends being rejected cause it to be revamped and made into the amazing show it is today, but it also caused another great show to become a thing! A great example of how everything works out the way it's supposed to!
I remember Nick Jr would always air every single cartoon they owned back in the day, even if it was long cancelled, they stopped doing that after 2016 or so :(
Same. I remember waking up early in the morning (like around 3 or 4 am) pretty often during my preschool and elementary school years and would usually watch some TV before going back to bed when my insomniac body felt like it. Oftentimes, I would watch some reruns of old Nick Jr shows during the time I was awake.
14:29 I remember missing the episode when Steve left and my mum and dad, not having the best memory, genuinely thought Joe was always the host and got super confused when I would come crying to them about Joe not being Steve and asking where Steve went. I watched episodes with Joe, but for the longest time I would refuse to help Joe cause I didn't have the same bond with him like with Steve. That didn't last long sence I adored the show as a kid and always wanted to help Blue, and I get attached to people super quick, so soon enough I was excited to see Joe.
God, Wubbzy is a favorite of mine. He was actually my introduction to Grey DeLisle before Azula, Frankie, Sam, and I think even Emily Elizabeth. I remember hearing that Wubbzy is canonically a gerbil. I don’t know where the source is now, but I know that the show’s official wiki doesn’t state what he is.
Yeah I couldn't even tell what he/she was my dad called it a box with a tail and that's what I always thought like I'm sorry I loved that show I grew up with it I watched it but HOW ON EARTH IS THAT A GERBIL
Honestly, Team Umizoomi was one of my favorites, if I had to describe it, it was like Dora, but less annoying, and it taught math instead of Spanish. If I had to go back and rewatch, I’d watch Umizoomi first.
I don’t imagine anyone else knows this show because it came out in 2015, but there was this Nick Jr. show I really liked called Little Charmers. Like Paw Patrol, it was originally from Canada. It was basically three little girls learning to use their magical powers and causing chaos along the way via various mishaps.
as someone who watched This channel for a few years more then I think I was supposed to, I gotta say, I got hit with major nostalgia from being able to see older shows that I hadn't seen on for years.
Me too. the whole beginning felt like it was meant for me. and then the middle is where it started. Because I babysit kids when I was really young. I was still watching the shows well into my teens so that I was hang out with the kids. Even still as young adult babysitting.
In my opinion Joe is the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man of Blues Clues. Steve is Toby Maguire, and Josh is Tom Holland
Love the comparisons! Makes sense!
Even had their own NWH with the movie
Perfect way of putting it!
Nailed it. And theirs nothing wrong with that. I grew up with steve but my baby is growing up with josh 😅 its still a good show. I miss the old intro though.

LazyTown originally started off as a series of stage plays. Only nine out of many characters made it into the show. I wish some of them returned as one-shots.
Oooo
I always wondered as a kid why there was only ever 9 characters. Like, that’s a smaller cast than even Ed Edd n’ Eddy(and part of that show’s whole POINT was the small cast), of course the audience would question that even at that age!
That makes a lot of sense…😅

Don't know if anyone else mentioned yet, but I remember The Upside Down Show was such a weird show. It'd be on at like midnight, or some time like that, and I'd feel cool staying up past bedtime to watch it, immediately preceding a random episode of Dragon Ball Z Kai. The main characters warped between different rooms inside their house walking through doors, they had a pet fly, stuff like that.
I barley remember that show. It felt like a fever dream to me because I remember it airing late at night with oobi & Oswald (this in the early 2010’s I’m talking about)
I remember the Nick Jr game where you could draw things, especially the one where they’re making a smoothie

Do you guys remember also the Noggin era with Moose and Zee?? So nostalgic. I miss being a kid.
I remember them as well as Piper Opossum!
I remember the early Nick Jr era (2009 - 2012) and I also remember Moose and Zee. I also remember being disappointed one day in April 2012 when they got rid of a lot of the Moose and Zee segments between shows. It marked the end of an era for me.

I remember those guys and Face.
But max said one word in the first season but after seeing their parents and actually talking in season 6 was amazing
One of my earliest memories is that I would hide behind the coffee table whenever Face was about to sneeze, because I didn't want to get sneezed on.
Couple things:
1. Face actually came back last year! No one watched it, but he had his own show full of music videos (preschool friendly ones) It was called Face's Music Party. :)
2. Binhyah Binyah? Yeah, he also got his own reboot series--which....didn't get very far.
3. In that show with Dora as a teenager? Believe it or not that's actually not Diego. That's her new friend Pablo. But considering that the two characters look almost identical? I can't blame you for not knowing. ;)
4. The reason you don't remember Bob the Builder being British is because....he wasn't on Nick Jr. They got the same show yes, but with an American dub with American voice actors.
Great video analysis!
Diego actually got an appearance in Dora: Into the City apparently.

Unpopular Opinion But Little Bill honestly has a special place in My heart. The funniest thing about Lazytown is that Robbie putting all that effort into stopping everyone is such a non-lazy thing to do. Trying to stop them literally has him being more active than he was before. It's so ironic and funny.
I love Robbie he's so real for that
I think that's a big reason why Sportacus never fully stopped Robbie from what he was doing. The plans he made to ruin their activity were never too much for Sportacus and the kids to handle, and it got Robbie out of the house for the first time in years. Makes sense that a guy obsessed with exercise would think of that first.
I had that exact same realization.

That's just it. We got used to Joe, but we weren't prepared for Steve's departure. I honestly thought that Joe was going to become part of the cast alongside Steve. It didn't really help that Steve never brought up going to college until that very episode. Not even in the first two of Joe's arc. LOL. I bet every adult teared up when Steve had a video message.

A few other things I liked about the Backyardigans:
• The fact that along with each episode having a different kind of imagination adventure, they also have different kinds of music genres for each episode!
Sometimes, they even add the play names in (Like in the episode "Eureka!"), but for the most part, they just say his name straight up
• Since it's a show about kids using their imaginations, they can also get away with making the kids animals while also showing or mentioning humans throughout the show! Since they are just human children who are most likely also imagining themselves as animals, with Tyrone going a step further by mentioning he's a moose and even mentioning antlers (since I'm almost certain he's the only one who's ever had his animal name said). The others just join in on him saying that!
Excellent points brought up.
Tasha's mentioned to be a hippo one time, but the others aren't stated in the show specifically.

Another thing about the Gullah: Their culture became what it is today because of a period of relative isolation from whites while working on large plantations in rural areas. The Africans, who came from both Central and West Africa, developed a creole culture that has preserved much of their African linguistic and cultural heritage from various peoples. Actually, he was a writer and character designer for the show. It was Debby Beece and Judy Katschke what created Eureeka's Castle
@@NeurospicyBitch88 I didn't know that.
He also wrote joke books as Jovial Bob Stine
@@ery9270 I actually knew that. Don't Stand in the Soup was one of his books.😺👻
Ive always liked quality as a kid. I would love shows like Little Bear, Franklin, Thomas and Bob the Builder. Those were great and soon during the mid 2000s everything was turning 3D. Stop motion and 2D looked beautiful!
Please do a Playhouse Disney version of this! There were so many bangers, some that are even better than Nick Jr.
@@cfruge444 Jojo's Circus ran from 2003 to 2007.

@@V00doo1Xim aye, thanks for letting me know!
I really liked Max and Ruby, but The Backyardagans were and still are my absolute favorite, and their songs were to die for!!!
Pinky Dinky Doo! I remember when my sibs and I tried to make a story box but there was never a box big enough 💀💀
@bruh moment uh, yeah!?🤨
I remember the Upside Down Show and I think the 2 guys were named David and Shane. I wonder what happened to the show
It's so heartwarming that the Gullah Gullah Island couple are still together and look as happy as ever
This makes me very nostalgic. I experienced a lot of trauma at a very young age in the late 90s and early 2000s, and Nickelodeon in general always gave me a great sense of comfort.
hope you’re healing
@@imid3440 thank you so much
@@_korepsyche_ ikr u can say nick jr changed so much
OMG FACE WAS EVERYTHING also the Oswald theme always made me so calm and chill
OMG I THOUGHT BLUE WAS A BOY AND MAGENTA WAS A GIRL TOOOOO ALSO THE OLIVIA THEME SONG SLAPPED I WATCHED THAT SHOW TOO
Welp, it's official now! Franklin is the new 5th member of the ninja turtles!😂
Yknow Warren Graff also worked on lazytown, thats a funny sonic connection
WOO LEBANONS
I wish there were more shows like it (no Franklin doesn’t count)
Also the Little Beat universe has *MUSICAL GHOST RACOONS THAT SNEAK INTO YOUR HOUSE ON STORMY NIGHTS THROUGH THE CHIMNEY AND COBBLE TOGETHER INSTRUMENTS OUT OF RANDOM CRAP YOU HAVE LAYING AROUND TO PLAY MUSIC WITH*
I loved Little Bear too!
What about Franklin, Blues Clues, and Dora?
I always loved them too
Little bear was fav too. I thought Franklin and Little Bear were same show though. The only that reminded of Little bear was Oswald
You should watch some Ghibli movies if you want similar vibes, particularly Kiki’s Delivery Service and My Neighbor Totoro
@@smcphee8499 Franklin and Little Bear was the best crossover of our childhoods that never happened:(
I literally JUST watched the episode about the ghost racoons!
why is it that these old kid's shows have more heart and soul then like 90% of current modern day films and shows? oh wait a little something called dedication and care for what they were doing!
Ikr
Everything today is based on appealing to the lowest common denominator in hopes to generate the most income, that's it. No heart, no soul, no passion.
Money and I think it just hard to market to kids now a days. The internet has lower everyone’s attention spans.
I grew up with most of the shows you mentioned, so I can say I was a Nick Jr. kid back in the day, too.
nick jr was genuinely one of if not THE BEST kids channel for me personally, I didn't know what slice of life was back in the day. but the amount of nick junior shows that were just that, Were some of my favorites. a group of friends, (commonly animal friends) just getting along and having a fun time.
I loved Blues Clues!
Did you ever got to watch Little Bear and Franklin?
I loved them too as a kid.
Blues clues was my show fr we miss u Steve 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯
omg, I was 13-14 when Lazytown came out and I was SHAMELESSLY watching it.
I only recently watched it it's actually kinda cute
My 14 year old ass shipped SportaRotten ☠️☠️☠️☠️ Man 2016-2017 was wild
Oh man, nostalgia is brewing. Max and Ruby and Blue's Clues were my jam when I was a kid.
Edit: I also did not know that Bob the Builder was British.
😂yes yes it is. The guy who made it, made PAW Patrol too

47:42 I remember watching the wonder pets, It was one of my favorite shows on Nick Jr. I will never forget the joy the show brought me.
I have little memories of Jack big music show along with the upside down show from when I was young young
I now know what a freaking hammered dulcimer is thanks to that show
Fun fact: Spiderus is voiced by the late Tony Jay, who in a Disney film sang a song about listing over a girl half his age
Thanks for a fun video
Also wow did I forget Face was a thing.

Oh yeah, I remember watching that movie. I don't remember much FROM it though, but that scene stuck in my head and had me laughing for awhile. Just the simple thought of Dora pulling out a bowie knife had me rolling on the floor. So I guess the movie did SOMETHING right.
I feel like I just unlocked a bunch of core memories watching this video. Thanks for the nostalgia hit!
Im just now remembering all of these shows that I used to watch as a kid, and it brings a tear to my eye to see these shows again after so many years 😭 I LOVED THESE SHOWS 💕
Little Bear, Franklin, and Oswald are the ones that I remember the most watching and giving me the most nostalgia. Oswald was SUCH a damn cozy show
My aunt brings up the fact I used to make her watch Yo Gabba Gabba whenever I try to get her to do something.
That show apparently was that bad. But I have ADHD so I loved it
90s and 2000s kids shows give u such a beautiful feeling i cant explain it, i suggest u show these to your little ones when theyre young. Its better than leaving them unsupervised on UA-cam.
I've grew up on nick Jr in the years 2008-2014, My favorite shows have to be Blue's Clues, Little Bear, and Wow Wow Wubbzy
I found something out about Me and My Friends that honestly makes me smile
The reason it was rejected was because Dora the Explorer was greenlit! So not only did Me and My Friends being rejected cause it to be revamped and made into the amazing show it is today, but it also caused another great show to become a thing!
A great example of how everything works out the way it's supposed to!
Y'all remember Ni Hao Kai Lan and Toot and Puddle? I feel like those 2 were underrated
Yea
I used to watch "Ni Hao, Kai-Lan" a lot
The first one yes the second one I never heard of
What about Wallykazam!?
Yessss omg
Fun Fact: Spiderus's voice actor, Tony Jay, was Frollo in Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Spiderus was his last role before he died. Love the show!
28:00 This is why I prefer Roley’s us voice over his uk voice.
There used to be some official interview (which was lost, then found, then got lost again) where Wubbzy says: "I'm not an animal, I'm Wubbzy"
It was basically three little girls learning to use their magical powers and causing chaos along the way via various mishaps.
i know it
@@kristianl7797 hey, at least I’m not the only one.
