Hi! I’m a 21 year old Italian girl andI’ve been taking Zoloft (50 mg) for three months now. I suffered from severe depression, anxiety and binge eating. I constantly isolated myself from people and my life was a nightmare so I finally dedicate to take this medication. I feel so much better and I’m socialising a lot more than before. I feel like I’m living my life. I surprisingly lost a lot of weight, maybe because I stopped binging all day. Mental health is so important.

Robert Crotone Hi Robert, it is common for most side affects of sertraline to decrease after two weeks. I believe that he needs to speak to his doctor about the medication he is using and see if there is a better alternative. It is very important that young people with depression are supported whilst taking anti-depressants as it can make their symptoms worse in some cases. Best of luck

I’ve been taking for 6 months and it’s helped me so much! I find when I take it with food I have no upset stomach. I felt better after 3 days and it’s made a world of difference as I suffered from PMDD (severe PMS)
@@valgal24 no I haven’t! My baby is 8 months at 4 months I had the postpartum hair loss but it stopped at 6 months as it usually does and my hair has grown back double then what it was before so definitely not a symptom I’ve had! Zoloft changed my life for the better, greatly. I’m about a year in. The only thing is things seem too good, almost.. then adding COVID lockdowns and the weird way schools are operating, it’s a little surreal. But I’m doing good because I’m doing good, mentally, and it’s showing in my life. I didn’t even understand how depressed I was before. I thought enjoying the moment was for children, and as you got older you enjoy things in the moment less and less until it’s only the memory that brings joy, because of all the stress that’s in the now. Sertraline changed all that. I’m happy, just a little paranoid.
Great video and very informative! I have been taking Sertraline for about 2 years now and I feel great. Suffering from long year recurrent depressive disorder and massive panic attacks daily, doctors first could not figure out what was wrong. Finally Sertralin was the med which helped within 2 or 3 weeks. I am able to work again and enjoy life with my family. My current psychiatrist advises me to continue the medication to prevent a relapse. First I was sceptical, because the moment you feel better you typically think, you do not need it any longer. But statistics say, there is a high risk of relapse if you stop too soon or refuse to take your meds regularly. It's important to take it daily and follow your doctor's advice. I never had any side effects. Sertraline clearly helped me regain my strength.. Sometimes it takes time to find your individual med which helps. Sertraline was mine. Stay safe and well!
I started taking 25mg daily for about 4 weeks now , I had previous panic attacks where I felt I was going to die . Thankfully I listened to my Dr and started to take setraline . I went cold turkey with this 2 weeks back. Couldn’t be bothered with the way sertraline made me feel. Completely numbed out, constant thoughts about what life is about, massive dissociation, couldn’t properly relax, vision slightly effected, almost felt like I was in a parallel universe, my perception of space and time were effected, I could go on. Was on them for around 10 months. Won’t be going back on them. Side effects are pretty hard coming off them. It’s great that they work for some people though! I’ve realised that not being in stressful situations Is the biggest help for my mental health.
@@ErikRichardsonDO interesting. I read in medical news today on the web that anti depressants raise risk of death by 33%.... thats alarming. And risk of stroke or heart issues. I'm on fence. "The analysis found that in the general population, those taking antidepressants had a 33 percent higher risk of dying prematurely than people who were not taking the drugs. Additionally, antidepressant users were 14 percent more likely to have an adverse cardiovascular event, such as a stroke or a heart attack"
Exact opposite for me. I'm numbed out and dissociated without medication. When I'm on it, I finally feel like I am "in" my body again and can enjoy life.

I was prescribed this medication because of severe health anxiety along with OCD and recent depression. The main thing I'm nervous about are the sexual effects I keep hearing about. I just want to get through this dark place in my life. I'm supposed to start taking this tonight
@@spencercapencer I've had my better days and some worse days. I find that the main thing I notice is that my good moments feel like just that. Then my bad moments just make me feel numb, like I dont or can't do anything. But then there are still days where my anxiety level is high. As of yet biggest thing I have noticed is I have next to no sexual interest. But that can also be caused by stress alone, can't really blame that on the medication completely.
As a side note the sexual dysfunction so far has been mild if not really existent. Not to bring that to the forefront. But so far so good actually. Amazing how many people out there who are looking out for each other.
After a lifetime of trying meds to help these feelings of depression and hopelessness, the most shocking discovery was that stopping processed foods, wheat, and sugar and cutting almost all carbs from what I eat had more effect than any of the meds they ever suggested I try. The gut-brain connection is much stronger than modern medicine knows yet, and eating trash makes you go around inflamed, and some new science suggests depression could be a disorder caused by inflammation. That's just my two cents, I have nothing to sell, and it's something I wish I'd known much sooner, and also no medical doctor will *ever* seriously suggest anything like that, in my experience.
You have explained it the best possible way .. been on Zoloft for over a decade with short breaks .. as a maintenance dose I kept it for some years at 50mg while tapering off with 25mg, and after every other day for a total 3 month time before I stop it .. after being on keto diet for 2 months I believed I could forget Zoloft and live without it being happy again .. I was told Ketosis fixes the mitochondria in the brain in order to produce serotonin by themselves after a period of time … I had a relapse and felt sad all the time , no energy at all to get off the bed , and quit my job (after 2 months off Zoloft ) .. Doc is that the sertraline levels I had achieved all these years under medication that kept me active those 2 months without the medicine or the keto diet? It was hard and I was crying all day that I had to start again the Zoloft at 50 mg daily dose to feel normal again .. because you said 2 months without a SSRI will indicate you if it’s the time to stop 🛑 it 😢. Well I guess I failed 😣… I will never be able to live without the small dose of Zoloft … if only you could help me. What’s your opinion ? God Bless 🙏🏽

I took sertraline for two months and I wish it worked for me, as much as it helped others. My first month worked like flying colors. I was happy and able to do everything. However, a week ago I started having severe depression and anxiety again. My thoughts were raging and small things triggered it. Other side effects were dry mouth, sweats, eating too much even I know I’m full, and constipation. My doctor told me to stop it immediately and make an appointment to see her as soon as possible.
Setraline ruined mine and my partners life. His personality completely changed really rapidly when on it and he got a lot of the side effects, common and rare. I didn't know who he was any more and he did some awful things. His doctor didn't warn about issues like this and didn't warn me or monitor him. It split us up. After more than 30 years with excessive stress because of a brain damage as teenager i tried Sertraline two years ago and finally decided to stop in full two days ago. Have been at 150 mg. for a short while to take some of the symptoms like no feeling in one site of the body and head. Then slowly going down and for the past 6 months on 25 mg. Started to feel same as at the beginning when i took it so therefore i decided enough is enough but it has surely made my life a lot better in every way. I taking Tryptophan at the same time i use to take the sertraline now and no side effects so far. Hope it help don't be afraid of this as i have been for too many years.
Day 4 on it, started on 50mg first two days. I felt so lifeless and somewhat anxious. Appetite is the same not really there and nauseous. I woke up with a pretty terrible panic attacks after finally falling asleep. I felt so strung out. Went down to 25mg on the third day and I have more energy, but I think it makes me sleepy. Still a little anxious but still feeling depressed. I’m hoping this works for me. Impatiently waiting for those good effects to kick in but here’s to hoping…
Hey yall, I’m doing well! All the terrible side effects have gone away, I’m feeling lighter, and more like me. Moods been up for sure, as much as it can be anyways. I wish y’all a safe and easy road to recovery ❤️
Mind you this is 4 months later, the progress is slow. It may seem unbearable but you need to persevere and remain patient with yourself, your mind and your body. You can do this
I have first responder ptsd and my doctor prescribed this med today. I had a kidney transplant two months ago and I don’t k ow if it’s the anti rejection meds but I can’t control or keep my emotions bottled up like I use to be able to do. I really hope this med works.
Psychedelic’s definitely have potential to deal with mental health symptoms like anxiety and depression, I would like to try them again but it’s just so hard to source here
Psychedelics are the reason why i didn’t take my life when i was at my end. I was stripped of my ego and saw the beauty of life and interconnectivity and even though i still battle anxiety and depression, I’m doing better everyday and will never think in such a self destructive way again.
LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Now I am trying to rebuild my life one step at a time which wasn't possible before."
@@zaraadam8906 I was on a other antidepressant for over 5 years, so the withdrawals from that were awful, so anything that sertraline made me feel wasn’t as bad! Some nausea, but other than that I cannot complain
I was put on it three times and suffered horrific panic attacks after a few days. It was horrible and I tried it for ten days and stopped it......I literally felt better within 24 hours. It did not work for me.
Denise, Combine medication with meditation. Heal yourself. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing negative thoughts-anxiety For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back erect, hands on lap with palms upwards, eyes closed, be still and observe your natural incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 5-10 minutes or more. Slowly negative thoughts will reduce and relax the mind. Whenever you are free in the day or night sit still for 1 or 2 minutes and observe your breath. Make it a habit. Do the above meditation daily to feel relaxed. Positive affirmations for 5-10 minutes before sleep also gives quick relief. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.
They only put you on this as they are afraid to give you anything else. I'm not depressed, but i do have anxiety and panic attacks. I work with the public and in retail it can be stressful, these doctors need to put their selfs in our place!
I was on sertraline almost 6 months. But I didn’t consult my GP and stopped taking it a few weeks ago, because I thought it might relate to my hair loss, after using Zoloft, I started losing my hair. But I felt absolutely crappy after I stopped talking it, I literally locked myself at home and cried for at least one week, then I consulted my GP and started on Zoloft again. I have been suffering from OCD, anxiety and depression since I was 13, now, I am suffering from PTSD because some traumatic things happened to me last year. Zoloft did make me feel better and make my mind clearer, it works on my symptoms perfectly, I just tried to ignore the possible side effects.
I'm about to start tomorrow myself. Can you tell me more about the positive side effects you feel? I suffer from extreme anxiety, ptsd, and social anxiety. Everything for me since I was a child was a challenge. I was only ever good at loner sports or small group activities.
Took zoloft twice in my life, both times horrible. Really messes with emotions, can change your personality. Increased anxiety and paranoia almost equal to a bad trip on weed. Everything was grim af. Never will touch this poison pill again
The same thing happen to my brother. He had anxiety and after taking Zoloft, he got paranoid. Do you mind telling me what kind of paranoia you had ? All the best to you
I feel so much better on it, but my hair is falling out in clumps. It is helping chronic anxiety, fight/flight reposes, intrusive thoughts and depression. But losing my hair sucks. Aside from stopping the meds, there doesn't seem to be a solution.
@@tarrynprinsloo8053 I honestly gave up on them 😞 I could only give them two weeks. Best wishes and I hope it works for you!❤️🙏🏼❤️
I'm having a really hard time with it. Shaking, burning sensations in arms and chest, no appetite, feel so low and down, headaches. It's only my 2nd day on 50mg
Hey guys I first started with 25mg and then after two weeks I started a full 50mg pill. After a week of starting the full 50mg I also had a huge reaction to it and I also felt the burning sensation in my chest arms and even behind my eyes. I’m here to say it goes away tho. Zoloft has helped give me my life back and help me feel normal again. You might have to go through a few downs before it gets better
Taking it for 4 weeks now, mainly finding it harder to sleep, not all the time though but really hoping I don’t get the weight gain so am really watching what I’m eating.
I had a hard time falling asleep too. Would wake up early and still actually tired. DO NOT randomly take 100 mg instead of 50 mg. Must be 50 mg, then 75 mg, etc. It helped me, just be careful to slowly change dosage.
Thank you for making this video. I’d been on Sertraline for a year but due to a combination of a mix up from my doctor & then me not following up quick enough, I wasn’t able to refill a prescription for a couple of weeks, so I decided to see if I needed it to be on it anymore & go cold turkey. I’ve been off this for 3 months now & I’ve come to the realisation that I need to be back on it & that’s completely okay. Again, I thank you for sharing this video as it’s helped me understand it a little more. I appreciate you.
I'm 4 days in. Can't handle the added anxiety it causes me. its fucking bad.. I am starting CBT course soon. I just don't want to me on them long term as I hear they age you a lot..
My doctor’s plural.. put me on every medication for anxiety there was, they all stopped working. So he combined them, mixed them with mood Stabilizers, and anti psychotics.. i thought i was dying. I quit all of them.. got TMS and use CBD.. so far seems alot better than meds. My experience

Zoloft did wonders for my PTSD but I didn’t like the extra 55 pounds I put on and it also killed my sex drive. After three years I replaced my Zoloft with a 800 calorie workout daily.
Has anyone else gained weight from Zoloft or possibly experienced tight muscles from it? Otherwise, it helped me so much and pulled me out of a horrible depression and anxiety when I was younger.
I have OCD and PTSD. I been on Zoloft since January. It helped me a lot with my mood swings and mind, but I am still having issues. I have the lack of emotions (can’t cry or feel) I have very low sec drive. I also been snacking more. I have picking disorder, I wonder if that’s why I snack. Especially on sun flower seeds. I have times where is sleep too much or sleep too little. I have a lack of creativity. My husband thinks I am being lazy, but I honestly can’t get motivated.

I hope to be a temporarily thing. Im a bot scare now after reading the negative comments ,but i need to come over my extremely anxiety, ocd ,ptsd .my panic attacks was bad from time to time, one episode was the thought of opening the plain door,i jad to battle with myself for God knows how long so i woulnt open it.theres other occasions where i felt like running away from places like my friends house, church ,florest walk etc, glad im on this med but at the same time im worried, how are you now?
I started it because i got mad at everything so easy. OCD issues. I hated things being un organized, out of place, not perfect. Ive been on this medicine for 2 years now. I sweat alot in my sleep, dry mouth and get bad headaches. Im going to the doc friday to see if i should get off of it. It makes me not really care too much about things anymore like i used too. just like this response. It bothers me that I see typo errors. a message like this would have taken me hours to do to make sure it was perfect. now i am fine with making mistakes. zoloft is the only thing different in my life. It has helped me though. I just do not like feeling like i dont care about things as much. i feel like i let things slide too much now. i dont even defend myself anymore. im just like that will take too much effort. just walk away

@@robertcrotone2430It is true that some people take longer than others to notice the positive effects.
Has it affected your libido
What about weightgain.

But that can also be caused by stress alone, can't really blame that on the medication completely.
m.ua-cam.com/video/5mmV-5BnWv8/v-deo.html ,
As a side note the sexual dysfunction so far has been mild if not really existent.
AGREED
It is so hard to cut all those things. Like what would one eat?

@@possumfriend2335 I have IBS, so is that the reason for my anxiety and depression? If so, how can I cure it?

Very informative video. Been on Sertraline for almost 3 years now. Started on 50mg and only moved up to 100mg earlier this year. The jump from 50 to 100mg really mucked me up however, impossible to sleep properly, headaches and being super lethargic. Hoping to drop down to 50mg at my next checkup as I have been having assistance from a endocrinologist I feel confident that I'm over my bad hurdle and have a good life ahead of me !!

I've enjoyed the 50mg dose. Been on it for 3 years, it gave me a happy warm feeling in my brain and brought nice memories and I laughed more. Side effects: on 100 mg was tired all the time, wagged my foot at night for some reason, yawned all the time.
Now, maybe because I stopped suddenly after 2 months of taking it again, the bladder side effect HAS NOT GONE AWAY.
Normally only after I took it could I not control my bladder, now even though I'm off it I still can't hold my bladder and when I have to go it's out of no where and I have to go NOW.

I’ve been off this for 3 months now & I’ve come to the realisation that I need to be back on it & that’s completely okay. Again, I thank you for sharing this video as it’s helped me understand it a little more. I appreciate you.
I had terrible OCD sertraline saved me I can't live without it now
I've been taking zoloft for 3 months and it really does take the edge off I can finally live a semi normal stable life
I'm 4 days in. Can't handle the added anxiety it causes me. its fucking bad.. I am starting CBT course soon. I just don't want to me on them long term as I hear they age you a lot..
No chemical testing required to decide if it is needed, just “I feel sad” is enough
What is chemical testing?
Been using this medication for 3-4yr now, one side effect I did notice when I stopped it for 2-3 days was a zap feeling in my head
My doctor’s plural.. put me on every medication for anxiety there was, they all stopped working. So he combined them, mixed them with mood
Stabilizers, and anti psychotics.. i thought i was dying. I quit all of them.. got TMS and use CBD.. so far seems alot better than meds. My experience
I’m about to start this today although I was very worry about medication but therapy alone just wasn’t working. Oh well let’s hope this works ! 😭
Can you give an update on how zoloft has helped you or not? Any side effects. Thanks!
I have been taking it for 5 days and i have zero appetite. I literally can’t eat.

Zoloft did wonders for my PTSD but I didn’t like the extra 55 pounds I put on and it also killed my sex drive. After three years I replaced my Zoloft with a 800 calorie workout daily.
Did you sur I've on 800 cal diet? If nit hope you went to heaven and find happiness 😅
Hi i started 5 days ago im on 25 mg,i feel nausea but getting better, but im worried about my feelings,i cant feel love kind of thing,im happier i can do things in the house, which was a nightmare before the meds,i come from crying to feel nothing,i feel like a zombie.
And how are you now? Are you still using zoloft?
On the third day today, so far not being able to sleep and sweating at night, brain feels like it has calmed down tho with overthinking
bro help basically i have a presentation next monday and i got rlly bad anxiety so my sister gave me her medicine. she gave me 50 mg for 3 days leading up to the presentation then 100mg on the day of the presentation. will it work by then or nah?
@@Zai-w4o Bro this does not work that fast. It takes up to 4-6 Weeks till the effects start to work... Stop taking these things without talking to a doctor!
interesting.
