Most likely need a Line Out Converter (depending on what your factory trim level of your truck is and depending on if your stereo is OEM or aftermarket)
i just made a wedge shaped template out of cardboard and built to measured dimensions. If you're serious about making one, you'll spend the 2 minutes to measure it out. Seats are not raised.
im about to install the same setup into my f150 what wires did you tap into for the lc2i I can't find out which wires im supposed to tap into because I was told that I have to leave the factory amp in place for it to work thanks.
It’s divided in the center so roughly 0.5 cu ft per side. I used 4” ports @ 20” long (1 per side) that I made custom flares for. ZERO port noise and really gets low, considering what the setup is.
@@Rob-ow3bx after subtracting port volume and sub displacement volume I think it’s only about .5 or .6 for the whole side (not per sub). This is the story with underseat boxes, though. So considering all the factors working against it, it’s really impressive!
James Oquin Hey James - The LC2i gets its signal from the factory wires that used to go to the factory subwoofer. The LC2i has a “remote out” that is wired to the subwoofer amps remote terminal. Hope that helps!
Ok, I need to pick your brain. Firstly, badass setup. I have a 2020 F-150 Lariat, so same space and I'm looking to do mine right. I have read most if not all the comments and I won't be asking the same questions everyone else has. That being said, I am concerned about the available volume vs what the subs need/want. Skar says those VD-8s like to have 0.75 cuft each. Based on my calculations of your dimensions and after port and sub displacement, your box comes out to ~1.5 cuft total/0.375 cuft each sub. I wonder if they are suffering from having an undersized box. I do see how your new 2500 amp would move them better and potentially compensate but I'm also wondering if it would sound better having 2 VD-8s or 2 EVL-65 because they only need 1.5 cuft and 1.2 cuft respectively.
Hey Manuel! I think your calculations are pretty close. Preceding this video, I actually started with only 2 VD-8 subs in the same size box on the 1200.1 amp, but it felt like the subs were stretching past their comfort zone regarding physical displacement. It was a nice setup (for a week haha) but I wanted more. I also really liked the look of 4x 8” so decided to switch it up. Considering the two setups, I believe the 4x feel louder and are definitely punchier than the 2x setup. I won’t disagree that the 4x setup is probably choking a little … I did stuff this current setup with a fair amount of polyfil which although muffled the overall output, it also really cleaned the response of the speakers up. If I were to do a 2x setup, I wouldn’t use the VD-8s … they don’t feel rugged when actually given proper air volume compared to the construction of something like the EVL.
@@srtdoff01 Thank you for getting back to me. I see what you're saying and I'm thinking of maybe doing a 2x EVL-8 D2 build. I've been playing around with several box/volume/port calculators and I'm thinking 2 of these would be a happy medium between available space and power. The EVL-8s will probably want more than 1.5 but I think it can work with the SKV2-2500 and some poly-fil. I want to maximize that space and not go crazy with lift kits or nothing like that and definitely NOT looking to bust my windshield. On a different note, I am also planning on replacing all of the speakers with some TX65's and TX65c's. Did you replace yours and what did you do about the little center speaker in the dash?
@@mriosf I think you’ll be very happy with that setup! If I did it again I would maximize 2x EVLs instead of 4x VDs. I only replaced the tweeters and also removed the center stage speaker.

@@srtdoff01 Oh sure I get that - more is never wrong lol but unfortunately I would struggle to get 4 in my XLT because of the power inverter underneath the passenger side of the rear bench seat. I could maybe squeeze 3 in but I'll probably be looking more toward doing dual 8" subs downfiring or I may try to pop in 2x 10" shallow mount subs around 500-600W RMS and that should do the trick too since the greater surface area helps bring the SPL up and gives you more of that "gut punch". Your system is a really cool setup though.
Chris Schroeder I hear ya. My limited has the power inverter under the passenger side also, but it’s set back far enough to where it doesn’t interfere with a full length box. 2x shallow mount 10’s will certainly get the job done! Let me know if you need help or have questions when you get going,.

I’m contemplating this or two 12”s for my 2020 f150. How are the lows with those 8s?
The lows aren’t going to compete with a properly boxed dual 12” setup, but there isn’t a lot of space to work with either. I was more interested in the punch than crushing the lows. Plus I like how four of them look 😂 Inwas happy with them into the 30’s

From the factory sub wires. Just cut the harness and spliced in new leads.
Question: Why do people put under seat subs and no grill cover to protect against feet when there are PASSENGERS?
Likely due to personal preference. For myself, if someone would’ve put a hole in one of the subs, I would’ve replaced it and it would not have bothered me.
Would people far away hear the bass or like feel it? Also, do you think 4 8 inch skar evl be overkill? Also would they fit inside a box like you have?

I’ve been doing car audio as my side hustle for 10 years and this truck was for sure a pain in the ass lol
Also my man what that setup run you?
I had 2 10’s now I got 2 12’s
(I’m a fan of 12’s I don’t like 10’s much)
But as you know, can’t forward face 10’s or 12’s so I think I’m gonna run 4 8’s also. Thanks for the input.
B&O junk. Signal from factory sub.
if i got this exact setup would i need a lc2i converter.
same car
Yes
@@srtdoff01 why would i need it
@@beaururey3703 there is nowhere else convenient (besides the factory sub inputs) to pull audio from because of the factory sound processor
4 are overkill for me but in considering 2 of these in my rear bench for my 16 F150.
Chris Schroeder I had two at first in basically the same setup. It sounded great musically, but I needed more for rock style music. The 4 sub setup really punches you in the gut with clean kick drum hits.
I have 2 in my truck and they are awesome , definitely worth it!
Do you feel like you need more out of the B&O system? I'm also adding subs to mine but I'm doing 2 10s. I was worried that I would lose my mids and highs. We'll see here in 2 weeks. Yours sounds insanely good.
Honestly yes .. the B&O is seriously lacking in power. Upgrading the speakers will get some more high range, but it becomes very unbalanced. Good luck man hope it sounds awesome!
@@srtdoff01 I appreciate you chiming in brother. That's unfortunately what I figured. Some songs on level 30 are loud but not as loud as I would think max volume would be. I'll knock out the speakers next year sometime. If I spend any more on this truck this year my Wife is going to have an aneurysm lmao.
@@rudyrivera2964 hahaha I totally get it maxed out on 30, bass a hair under distortion levels and Its like hmmm where’s my treble and midrange at!? These trucks NEED a DSP and amplified mids and highs period.
Where did u got the sub enclosure?
Made it myself
Impressive
🙃
