I love how this episode recontextualizing what weasel did to circe. It's not just the violent monster being brutal, you realize he actually does have the capacity to care and that he probably saw this new team as his new friends and now they were dying just like last time. Dr phosphorus is still a sadist though, I doubt his actions will look better when his backstory comes around also BOOSTER GOLD!
I love James Gunn's use of deep-cut characters like Betty Bates. He truly has an encyclopedic knowledge of DC comics. No one else is better equipped to run DC Studios.
This is definitely my favorite episode. I never expected Weasel to have a Rocket Raccoon level of backstory since first meeting him in The Suicide Squad movie, but man, never underestimated the writing of James Gunn. First making me cry over a raccoon, and now a weasel 🥺😭
I feel like the reason Weasel went so hard against Circe was because the Princess reminds him of the little girl he tried to save. I feel like that’s why they made the little girls design so similar
What I love about the series is that James Gunn is telling us a story, while giving not well-known characters there moments to shine. Yet, in dialogue, choices of shots, he's telling us how he feels about humanity. About the state of the country. Of the world. I love that the Bride is warming up to Nina as a little sister, I think. This episode dropped 6 hrs before the Superman teaser is bonkers. Total Whiplash.

That's actually apparently Wally West, not Booster gold, in the flash forward! Emergency Awesome in his recent Flash video says that a producer or someone confirmed it was Wally, which has me SO so excited for that Teen Titans movie that's supposedly happening in a couple years. 02:15 I dont know if you'll see this but, my friends and I think Betty in the DCU is the little girl in Weasels backstory who survived. If you go back to Episode 4 of creature commandos? Theres one girl who goes upstairs and is confronted by the man with the gun. She's not seen downstairs when the explosion goes off. And curiously the Lawyer, Betty has the same hairstyle as the little girl who survives in the flashback. It would also be Bettys motivation for so strongly wanting to defend and exonerate Weasel.
The escalation during the Weasel flashback leading to the loss of life is tragic. Have to credit storytellers because writing anything involving children in such predicament had to have been heavy
1:25 that reminds me; Legends of Tomorrow and Justice League Action made me want a Firestorm project with Killer Frost as the main villain! Doing research, Felicity Smoak was Ronnie's STEPMOM!?!?! A comic accurate version of her would be great, too, especially to get Olicity haters off DC's back. I'm a shipper who didn't read the comics and even I didn't like season 4. Anyway, this episode was a heartbreaking masterpiece and I have to know where it goes from here!
Grodd is wearing gems similar to the one that circe is wearing, perhaps that is to show they both have some similar powers. The only future vision we know circe had is a natural disaster whole the one shown todsy is based off people, people can change much easier so it will mske sense to stop thst future without lessening circe or her powers
Poor Weasel!!!! He was trying to save the kids!!!! One thing i didn’t fully buy, the cops focused on taking down Weasel rather then saving that last kid, I thought after shooting him, one of them would have tried to grab the kid, a bit unrealistic in my opinion. Otherwise truly a tragic backstory!!! And a GREAT EPISODE!!!
