What sucks is that battle damage happens so this makes sense, and yet it becomes a matter of "oh it was hard to animate huh?" instead of just being a casualty of the fight. Logically it should come back if she keeps living. If it doesn't, that will be pretty lame.
I think the point of the Dr. Phosphorus is that he's not truly a bad guy but a reflection of what happens to someone's morals when they lose everything. And he didn't just suffer, they took everything away from him piece by piece, his family, his future by framing him, any chance he ever had of feeling at peace ever again and then finally they took away his very humanity to the point where he qualifies for a non human task force. With each passing moment he lost more and more. They literally stripped him down to the skeleton.
Till now i think this is the best episode so far. The finale didn't release yet but this one was great, having the payed girls part and the family plotline... and the amazing "getting the band together" moment
If the asshole characters backstories are so disturbingly tragic im terrified to see Nina. Also fun fact, Thornes VA is also the voice actor for Dutch Vanderlinde
I’m prepared to be crucified in the comments, but here’s my theory: we saw Grodd in Circe’s vision. I think Grodd gave Circe the vision to help manipulate Waller. I think the 3 villains we’ve seen are working for another big bad.
This show is creating a strong and continuously growing desire to see Batman whoop someone's ass in this universe and if we're getting that in the clayface movie I'm elated.
There is a simple reason, its because that like MOST modern adaptations of Batman by non fans the creators used the Dark Knight Returns as the basis for character design as ALL modern adaptations have since batman begins as he is a wider batman giving him a more powerful apperance and silhouette.
Phosphorus' origin story is so stereotypically Batman-villain-y (person gets turned into monster by organised crime), that it made me go "Oh right, this guy is a Batman villain" long before Batman showed up 😄
I was confused by the line dancing scene as well until I realized that you can see all of the people dancing seemingly the same dance, and the movements are a little jerk-y, specifically like it was rotoscoped, and I think it's supposed to lightly harken back to those first animated movies where the skeletons would all dance in a line. Further in we can see Thorne doing the Charlie Chaplin "Potatoes on forks' dance, which is strange on both counts, but does add a weird menace.
Idk James Gunn seems fine with taking his most sympathetic characters and giving them happy endings. With Sean Gunn making his debut as Maxwell Lord in Superman, I could see them stopping from killing the Princess so Weasel can have his happy ending with the Princess and maybe also get his pet wolves. I imagine if anyone dies it’s either Phosphorus or The Bride. James did say he sees The Bride as the main protagonist of all of this so it could be possible she dies and sends Nina into a rage filled vengeance that will be explored in S2.
@ Good for you I guess? You still clicked on the video and were interested enough to check the comments, so I really don’t get what you’re so worked up about
I don’t think this two second silhouette informs anything about what Batman is going to look like or who will play him in the DCU. Especially since Gunn meant for him to be as vague as possible because he didn’t want to commit to anything. I don’t see Batman’s casting being limited by wanting an actor to closely match the physique of this two second shot. Plus the designs aren’t final. Plus I’m still hoping for Pattinson to be the DCU Batman.
@GenerationWest why? Based on what? Everything is grounded until it’s not. Batman year one was an influence for the Batman and that story is pretty grounded. And yet it was always meant as an in continuity Batman story. Batman is a multifaceted character. Sometimes he has grounded stories and sometimes he doesn’t. That’s part of the appeal of the character. Saying the Batman is too grounded is like saying 1/3 of Batman’s mythos can’t co exist with the rest. Since Pattinson said in an interview that he really wants to do supernatural stuff, a different creative with him as an actor can do something with that after reeves is done. Putting Pattinson in the DCU doesn’t limit him to be grounded nor is the Batman being grounded limit Batman from becoming more fantastical.
@@kendi5391 there’s no way brave and the bold is set in stone. It barely has a director attached and it’s not even technically greenlit according to Gunn. And these things change all the time. Otherwise the inhumans movie would have happened or the batfleck movie or the deadshot movie etc… I’m not saying Pattinson in the DCU is guaranteed. But for me, the nail in the coffin won’t be until they cast a new actor, if ever.
So James Gunn has said basically don’t read too much into what Batman looks like here. It’s an intentionally vague silhouette because they don’t have a design for the character figured out yet. So he may not be as wide in live action
I love that you think people might best know Benjamin Byron Davis as a little cameo character in GG VOL3 and not Dutch Van Der Linde from the _Red Dead Redemption_ franchise.
Despite the fact that I'm an Old Comic Fan, I didn't know that Blight (From Batman Beyond) was inspired by Dr. Phosphorous, I thought it was the other way around. Also: I would pay good money to actually see Alan Tudyk do that dance 😂
I think he can control it. Note that when he fights the tank he removes his clothes (presumably so they don’t burn) and then basically goes Super Saiyan in order to burn through the tank. Though it’s still kind of ridiculous that he can BURN THROUGH A TANK
@@cartoonishidealism582 On reading about phosphorous, white phosphorous can burn up to 800C. Which sounds impressive, but is only about half the heat needed to melt steel...
@@RickCarleton Im pretty sure its just his nickname though. Phosphorus isnt radioactive like how Waller describes Dr.Phosphorus. But then again, to have a nuclear reaction strong enough to burn through like a foot of steel on the front of that tank probably would have given everyone in a 10 mile radius cancer.
The fact we’re in world where we get the debut of the DCU’s clay face and Batman in back to back episodes of a show I am very much enjoying, makes me very happy and excited to see what is to come from this version of Batman and his villains. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Doctor Phosphorus before myself but I would definitely love a story involving him further with whoever turns out to be the DCU’s version of Batman. I also feel like what we did see in this points are towards possibly getting the actor who everyone was saying should be Batman a while back because of how wide he (Alan something I’m blanking exactly on his last name right now the guy who played Thad on blue mountain state) is and that’s something I’d really like to see.
What I find funny about Eric while still disliking him is that HE PAYS A STACK OF $ to the pilots, and he got Flag Sr to the hospital, so he has a massed up honor code. I usually HATE any violence and death upon young kids in fiction, BECAUSE it happens way too much in real life and I do not wish it in my fiction that and sexual violence are my X cards in RPGs are played. But I agree in this episode It's not just for shock value, and I was so terrified he would kill that girl, and I was so glad he did not even when I find him killing Torne's kids unforgivable but understandable after his mental break, but he still killed waay to many folks and yeah he needs a bomb in his head and life in prison.
I'm hoping the finale brings the whole conflict together in a way that makes... a bit more sense. I still don't get how Clayface duped Waller so easily, or how he got past Argus security. I also don't like that Flag only contacted the princess, instead of also contacting The Bride or Waller, which could have stopped a lot of the conflict.
I thought the flashback was a big Easter egg for Batman TAS fans. Rupert Thorne it's a deep cut mob "boss" who always gets caught or killed before he fully ascends to like a Falcone level.
I think right when Phosphorus got his powers it was more raw and uncontrolled, like you can see him burning literally everything he touched and not being able to wear clothes because of it, but then as it went on he gained further control of his abilities to the point where he could put on that wacky outfit and do the dance moves without burning the place down.
@@stringedmouse76 He still prob emits some radiation though, as Waller comments on. He can prob just control it pretty good though, ranging anywhere from constant chest X-ray to Chernobyl distaster
I still have no idea why Nina is on the team. What is she there for? Just to give The bride someone to rescue? Loving Weasel. That boys just living his best life with his wolf pals.
According to Amanda, Nina is supposed to be some kind of bridge between Rick and commandos, assist with handling them. And she kinda does?.. I mean Nina brightens the room a bit being optimistic and a bit more psychologically healthy than other members. I think it can improve communication between the team members making the unit more effective. Not sure about that tho, thats my only guess coz Nina really did nothing yet
She's a James Gunn trope character. She is no different from Mantis or Rat Catcher 2. She is sweet and nice, and the heart of the team, and she seems like the weakest but will get a big power moment in the end where maybe she is actually the most powerful. My guess ever since the first minutes of episode 1 when Flagg pointed out her uselessness and Waller said "you should see her in water", is that she will save the day in the last episode. I thought maybe Phosphorus would turn on the team, and she would fight/beat him because water beats fire, but now I'm less sure. But basically, look for water in the last episode.
My brother and I are debating who could kill the princess (we are assuming), and I’m guessing it’ll be Nina. She seems to be the purest soul of the commandos which makes it hard to determine what her past crime could have been, and if I had to guess we’ll learn the princess is torturing puppies, human trafficking, or torturing orphans and it will be her(Nina) who takes the final shot.
I just have to say it was pretty stupid of rupert thorne to throw alex into the science machine with the way the DCU is set up already having a bunch of super people he should have figured their was a 50/50 chance that he would get superpowers as seek revenge
Cersei maybe showing us the opposite of what she does, or her actions exaggerated. Wow. Imaga Dei, marred. She may be an actual honest human being. And real human beings are monstrous!

lol as soon as they took off the coat, my impression was "it was hard to animate wasn't it"
What sucks is that battle damage happens so this makes sense, and yet it becomes a matter of "oh it was hard to animate huh?" instead of just being a casualty of the fight.
Love the detail in the thumbnail with the M shaping Batman's head
Genius catch
2:44 This makes me recall the Garland Greene scene from Con Air.
Benjamin Davis looks like Rupert Thorn himself. If they ever continue the Batman movies they could just cast him 👌
Man i love this show so much
With all these Fictional Cities and Entire Countries Original to DC, kinda makes me think DC Earth might be much bigger than Real Earth
8:40 Isn't Bialya also the country that war in the Superman trailer is taking place in?
Thats Boravia
@redly4017 Ohh, right. My bad.
3:29 Oh, don't you mean DUTCH "I HAVE A PLAN!/TAHITI!" VANDERLINDE!?!
3:30 hey dude absolutely no one recognises him from whatever the hell that is. we all know him as DUTCH
"Not one of you best plans Dutch"
I’m prepared to be crucified in the comments, but here’s my theory: we saw Grodd in Circe’s vision. I think Grodd gave Circe the vision to help manipulate Waller. I think the 3 villains we’ve seen are working for another big bad.
You mentioned Benjamin Byron Davis but missed the best detail of his repertoire.
He voiced Dutch Van Der Linde.
I'm playing rdr2 for the first time and that dude has a great voice
The origin is a little run-of-the-mill, but I love the revenge sequence.
I just hope they rebuild G.I. Robot. He is my favorite character so far.
I really hope weasel gets a redemption arc, it’s very deserved and the cops should be the ones in trouble
flagg is in superman and peacemaker s2 so he definitely lives
This show is creating a strong and continuously growing desire to see Batman whoop someone's ass in this universe and if we're getting that in the clayface movie I'm elated.
There is a simple reason, its because that like MOST modern adaptations of Batman by non fans the creators used the Dark Knight Returns as the basis for character design as ALL modern adaptations have since batman begins as he is a wider batman giving him a more powerful apperance and silhouette.
I was WAITING for Batman to show up somewhere!! Also that dance scene was boss as hell. Doc is my fave honestly. Right behind GI Robot.
Phosphorus' origin story is so stereotypically Batman-villain-y (person gets turned into monster by organised crime), that it made me go "Oh right, this guy is a Batman villain" long before Batman showed up 😄
weird take, I loved his origin. Damn all your takes are fall to criitcal on perhaps the best episode so far
side note mr.terrific looks good in the superman movie im glad he's getting screen time again last time i saw him was the justice league animated show
I was confused by the line dancing scene as well until I realized that you can see all of the people dancing seemingly the same dance, and the movements are a little jerk-y, specifically like it was rotoscoped, and I think it's supposed to lightly harken back to those first animated movies where the skeletons would all dance in a line. Further in we can see Thorne doing the Charlie Chaplin "Potatoes on forks' dance, which is strange on both counts, but does add a weird menace.
LMAO "I Think I got the wrong guy" that shit had me laughing.
I can’t believe no one is talking about the fact that the actor who played Rupert Thorne also played Dutch Van Der Linde in Red Dead Redemption 2
Nerd
@ you watch Nando, you’re a nerd too
@DiamondLotus210 nope, it's my first time here. Likely won't be back.
@ Good for you I guess? You still clicked on the video and were interested enough to check the comments, so I really don’t get what you’re so worked up about
He played Dutch in both games
The sad part of Phosphorus is that he can no longer convey his emotions with his face again.
I dont know what was the reasoning behind putting cumbia in the background but I love it nando
Benjamin Byron Davis I recognized immediately as Dutch vanderlinde. Such a talented actor
great background song
I don’t think this two second silhouette informs anything about what Batman is going to look like or who will play him in the DCU. Especially since Gunn meant for him to be as vague as possible because he didn’t want to commit to anything. I don’t see Batman’s casting being limited by wanting an actor to closely match the physique of this two second shot. Plus the designs aren’t final.
Plus I’m still hoping for Pattinson to be the DCU Batman.
His ego can't even get a batman 2,
With the world and how Gotham is in this world, it makes it even more apparent that it's from a very different world than Matt Reeve's take.
Pattison won't be DCU Batman as sad of a news as it is.
Thorne was speaking and I was like I know that voice, and then it hit me: that's Dutch Van Der Linde!
Have some goddamn faith, Batman!
Honestly i disagree and think hes actually one of my favourite because of how supervillian it is. I liked it.
So James Gunn has said basically don’t read too much into what Batman looks like here. It’s an intentionally vague silhouette because they don’t have a design for the character figured out yet. So he may not be as wide in live action
“Priyatel Skelet” translates from Bulgarian into friend skeleton.
Benjamin Byron Davis also voices Dutch in both Red Dead Redemption games
I love that you think people might best know Benjamin Byron Davis as a little cameo character in GG VOL3 and not Dutch Van Der Linde from the _Red Dead Redemption_ franchise.
Despite the fact that I'm an Old Comic Fan, I didn't know that Blight (From Batman Beyond) was inspired by Dr. Phosphorous, I thought it was the other way around.
Also: I would pay good money to actually see Alan Tudyk do that dance 😂
I just dont understand how phosphorus can melt through a tank by touching it...but wearing clothes and touching people is fine...sometimes.
@RickCarleton it's a comic/cartoon.
People here failing some basic logic lol. He can control it, his name is just a name, he's been shown to be capable of all this.
This was my favorite episode so far I think because it was traditional.
Bro no mention of Benjamin Byron Davis' most famous role, Man is Dutch from Red Dead
I didn't even remember his role in Guardians. That's goddamn Dutch 💀
This show is so much fun. Let’s all say a prayer for Weasel 🙏
Nando is a such comic nerd he recognized Benjamin Byron Davis from his niche role in GOTG 3 and not from Red Dead Redemption
Warner bros animated a great watchmen movie that nobody covered too
Bro they got Dutch Van Der Lind's VA to play Rupert Thorne than just killed him off.
Is this before or after he created Dr. Freeze?
Saying people would recognise Ben Davis as a bit character from Guardians and not DUTCH is insane.
I've got a plan doctor. we just need all the cancer research then we can go to Tahiti
Didn’t know Dutch Van der Lin was in that episode.
You might know himn from a bit part in a guaridans movie?!?
That is the reference he cited for Benjamin Davis?
Am I just missing a joke?
One thing I think may happen to Rick Flag Sr: he'll get something that heals him and rewind his age a bit in this finale
The thing everyone forgets is this all takes place a half hour a week.
I thought the flashback was a big Easter egg for Batman TAS fans. Rupert Thorne it's a deep cut mob "boss" who always gets caught or killed before he fully ascends to like a Falcone level.
Surprised you didn’t mention how Weasel sees the princess as the girl from his backstory
A bit confused. Does Phosphorus gave people cancer by touching them, or is he able to control when she burns shit.
@@icancraftsomething He can probably control it enough to not cause any harm. He just didn't care to. I mean he was in prison when she said that.
I still think there might be some body swapping or something with the super old current queen and the princess
3:29 “THATS GODDAM DUTCH VANDER LIN”
Benjamin Byron Davis voiced Dutch from RDR.
Benjamin Byron Davis also voices Dutch, from red dead redemption 2
big fan of the background music on this vid
If it's a flashback, we don't necessarily need to trust everything we see
I still have no idea why Nina is on the team.
I imagine she's the aquaman
Aka, great in water, not so much on land
My bet is -No one- so that the second series can happen. Just don't see S1 ending like that.
i’m not the only one who immediately recognized tyler thorne not as that guardians guy but as dutch right?
What do you think about that Weasels flashback with princess and little girl from his origin?
Benjamin Byron Davis was the voice of Dutch Van der Linde in the Red Dead Redemption video game series. I recognized his voice immediately!
The authors reference for Mr. Davis actually offended me.
David Harbour is sooo fucking funny as Frankenstein.
I just have to say it was pretty stupid of rupert thorne to throw alex into the science machine with the way the DCU is set up already having a bunch of super people he should have figured their was a 50/50 chance that he would get superpowers as seek revenge
It was better than I expected I though i wasn’t gonna like it but I want more
Cersei maybe showing us the opposite of what she does, or her actions exaggerated.
Wow. Imaga Dei, marred. She may be an actual honest human being.
And real human beings are monstrous!
