Excellent series. Really felt for you when your glasses dropped off when you were wresting with the pinch clamp. I know the feeling. Thanks especially for the test of clutch apply pistons. I think that was on your Impala video. I was wondering how to test the seals after reassembly. Someone buy that man a new floor jack!
Great video series much appreciated. Quick question. Is it hard on the transmission if you let the PCS shift hard from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd for an extended amount of time? I replaced the PCS at 75,000 and now at 150,000 it is doing it again and don' t really want to mess with it. Thanks in advance!!
Very good video , ! If you can remember ,can you tell me the list of tools il need to do this job ? Ex . what size torx wrench etc , any specialty tool etc . Did you hold engine up from top ? Thanks
Awesome job man! My friends doing this to my 2003 lesabre. In ur opinion, is it necessary to replace the tcc solenoid for a p1811 code? The tcc I ordered wont be here until Saturday and I dont feel like waiting. What do u think? I'm replacing shift solenoids, pressure control solenoid, module, harness, side case gasket, trans filter and fluid. I didn't have a dash light on but they did pull that code. I'm getting the 1st into 2nd and second into 3rd trans jerk. Only happens when the car warms up a bit. Started doing this just a few day's ago. Thanks much! Great job!
I have an 04 Monterey Carlo that when you first get in it takes a min or so to go into gear but then works fine. Do you think this job would fix that problem?
Bought a grand prix 02 from my cuz for low price with sel on code p0442 (needs gas cap). Barely today at work i pluged in a genesis n pulled the p1811 code which doesn't come up on global, only in manufacturer mode. so i only felt a hard shift once since i got it after a very long drive, got back, checked trans fluid it was low and dirty, so i evaced the fluid out through the dipstick tube n put new dexron 3 in never got that hard shift again. But now I'm concerned bout the code. Tomorrow I'm going to clear the code and hope it doesn't come back. i do know the trans cooler lines are leaking so I'm going to change those as well as the filter and fluid again soon. Thanks to this video i know how to get to the solenoids if i have to and it doesn't seem hard at all. Also do you think it'll pass emissions with just the p1811code?
You sir are a good man... you ate saving me 500 bucks from the shop... I will be doing this on a 2000 Buick lesabre 4t65e trans... I wonder if it will have the other obstacles that you ran across
Great video & great work you deserve a ASC certification!!!!! Great series very informative now I know what I’m in for,Wish you mentioned your tork specs? Thx for your hard work
I need to replace my steering rack but your struggles with the steering shaft has me reluctant to take it on. How do you know when you have it reconnected correctly ?
what other parts would you recommend replacing while in this part of the transmission? any gaskets, line pressure boost valve, 4th gear shift kit spring, something with the 3rd clutch? I saw a list of things to replace a while back but cant remember all of it.
@@mph5896 Can you tell me what Transmission is in my 2005 Monte Carlo 3.8 LT? Is it the 4T65-E or the 4T60-E . I was considering trying the Go-Kit to fix my shift problem ?
i did this thanks bro it worked on my 07 impala but now i have some type of popping sound near left and right wheel and car moves to right when i brake lol what you think wheel alignment?
mello beats did you ever find out what was wrong ? I just did this job on my ‘03 Grand Prix and the shifting is all good now. Only thing is I have a grinding sound when I turn left while driving, no grinding when I turn wheels with car parked. I’m wondering if I put it the cv axle correctly all the way where it connects to the transmission. Thank you in advance for any info!
m ph thx .could you tell me how to fix that.i replaced them solenoids and pcs and car still won't go forward it goes reverse and kinda want to go slow forward but not run while pressing the gas .what u mean when u saying Trans been pooched

Wow. I'm about to tear into an 04 Monte Carlo for long shift. Thanks, your work is great!
very good videos. showed me everything I needed to do. did this on my wife's 05 rendezvous. thank you, you saved me big time
how do you know when you have the steering reconnected correctly? you didn't get any close ups with light of you putting it back together.

Yes very good 👍 video thanks
The steering rack is connected to the sub frame? Is the removal of steering column really necessary?
Yes, if you don’t you run the risk of pulling the intermediate steering shaft apart
I need to replace my steering rack but your struggles with the steering shaft has me reluctant to take it on. How do you know when you have it reconnected correctly ?
it will slide back into place, the pinch bolt will go in properly
what other parts would you recommend replacing while in this part of the transmission? any gaskets, line pressure boost valve, 4th gear shift kit spring, something with the 3rd clutch? I saw a list of things to replace a while back but cant remember all of it.
Best thing would be do pull it and do a full rebuild. If your doing just a PCS I would just do that, shift solenoids, filter and fluid.
On a 2005 Monte Carlo 3.8 , what kind of time are we looking at for a DIY repair ? Is the PCS in the same location on the 2005 Monte ?
Frank Molino Not sure on time you should expect. I can do them in under 2 hours but I have done prob 60+. I would expect a day or 2 for diy

I am doing this but only problem is both front frame bolts fell out and I can't get them in cause the holes isn't line up. Any help
Use a + long/fat screwdriver to wiggle it back in place. You will prob have to jack it up and Down and maneuver the cradle to get it back in place
SUCKS HAVING TO RE-FIX GMS MISTAKES SHIT QUALITY PARTS
So, no part 5? Showing tht fixed the problem....?!
Part 5, its fixed.
Is this pretty similar for 05 models?
yup
could you pull engine forward and put a bolt thru the dog bone to get to it easier?
What part are we talking about getting to easier?
the steering shaft.
make a better angle for it.
Na, its actually pretty easy to get to as is
m ph oh ok you said it was the hardest part to re connect.
I can see by the corrosion, you live in the midwest (rust belt), m ph.
what yr car are you working on?
2001 he mentioned in the previous vid..peace
What could happen if I just change the two shift solenoid but not the pcs .my car won't drive forward but it will go in reverse
Rolando Perez You have more problems than just the shift solenoids/pcs. Your trans is more than likely pooched
m ph thx .could you tell me how to fix that.i replaced them solenoids and pcs and car still won't go forward it goes reverse and kinda want to go slow forward but not run while pressing the gas .what u mean when u saying Trans been pooched
Rolando Perez Pooched, means you need a new transmission...
Exactly, once the transmission starts to slip there is a VERY good chance you will have to rebuild it.
