    I installed this kit in a 2000 Bonniville 12/18/2019. It corrected hard shift (never had a OBDII code display) and and as of 6/13/2021 has worked well. May wish I hadn't said that but so far so good. Still shifting smooth. A lift would make this an easy job. Kit comes with pretty good directions.

      Hey John, FYI- the transmission codes can't be read by average cheap scanners like mine. Mechanics have good scanners that will see transmission codes like the 1811. Thats what I understand. Was you shifting problem happening only after 15-20 minutes of driving and warming up the transmission? That's what mine is doing so this is hopeful. Thanks.

    Found your video from doing a P1811 search. I did a scan on a 2005 Chevy Uplander today and came up with that code. The test drive was giving me a hesitant clunk at 15-20 mph. Is this important to repair quick or can the person "live" with it and put up with the bad shifts?
    I subscribed and gave you the thumbs up.

    • @MacGyversWorkshop
      @MacGyversWorkshop  7 років тому +5

      Thats a hard one. The Buick I worked on in this video had no outward symptoms, the shifts felt fine. Myself as a mechanic would have a hard time dealing with it knowing it was wrong LOL! but the code simply indicates that the shift took too long to happen. Technically, that could wear the clutches out sooner than they normally would wear out.

      @美優美結実優美夕みゆ 3 роки тому +2

    • @joephillips7612
      @joephillips7612 2 роки тому +2

      I agree with adding a transmission cooler. The factory one is inside the engine coolant radiator. If theres a crack in the line in there they cross contaminate and you are up a creek. happened to me. i'll never own a car with that situation again with out adding a small radiators-external cooler. It just attaches behind the AC radiator.

      I've had the best luck with TransGO products. Assuming the transmission is in reasonably goos health, I would install the "SK4T65E" kit along with the "4T65-AFL" kit. That prevent any of the usual issues these transaxles experience. • @joephillips7612
      @joephillips7612 2 роки тому +1

      Probably. The hard shifting 'after warm up' seems to be the same prob everyone has. It s abad pressure solenoid and is expensive to replace so... Seems this kit prevents the situation that messes the solenoid up. Much easier to go in the rough the bottom and do the job in this video that try to go in the side door. That's at least $500 labor. I had to do that once. It is 6 months now. Maybe you fixed it?
