Minimalist hometour(be happy, stop comparing)

- Hello everyone :)
For this week’s #minimalist #hometour I’ll share my tips on how I use #minimalism to stay happy.
One aspect of #happiness we’ll tackle is how to combat unhappiness that stems from (negative) comparison, and why it’s quite pointless to compare🌼
This isn’t a super new concept, but we can all use a little friendly reminder now and then!
Enjoy🤍

The flower metaphor is so comfy & nice. I often get down on myself for not always getting the grades that i want in university. My mental health was also at it's worst when I was living alone going to uni. My slowness to adapt to many changes in my life made me not reach my version of "success" in school, and I always got down on myself because i began viewing myself as not smart, especially book smart. Lately, however, I am focusing on my true life passion and core value, which is kindness & love. I tell myself that if I am acting in accordance with my values, then I was suucessful today. This helped me to learn that I was not doing well in school by my standards because I simply didn't prioritize it among other things that I cared about with the limited energy that i had to give due to mental illness. the flower metaphor felt like me, because I am just not allowing myself to bloom in a place where I feel goes unnoticed a lot of the time. I realized that I am excelling in my value of emotional smarts, because I just want to make other people smile, and bring kindness to the world, which I've recently realized also includes myself : )
Thank you for sharing your story Haley💓 I can tell you bloom beautifully when it comes to spreading love & kindness, because I feel it when I interact with you too! I appreciate you as you are, we can always work on areas that we want to work on. Have a lovely weekend!!♥️
Bloom where you are planted, someone once told me : )
Correct statement! There’s always a way to bloom, wherever we are🌼
Definitely. Don't compare, and don't care what others say or think, or what you think they say or think. Such a waste of time, that would be one of the things I'd tell my younger self.
Happy Sunday, Joy, and everyone!
Exactly. Life is too short to try and live someone else’s life, according to how they think we should live! Always good to see you, have a lovely week🌷✨
To each it’s own. As long you have a roof over your head then you’re great. Personally, I would save for organization.
That’s a good idea actually! I prefer built in organizers, but just working with what I got here🤭 This comment made me wonder if I can start storing more in the kitchen cabinet - so thank you! Have a good one🙏
Hi Joy! What a wonderful metaphor you used to introduce today's topic. You are so well-spoken! If you teach like this in your classroom, your students are very lucky. What I am curious about is how you decide what your priorities are in the current state of life. I sometimes get stuck in my old priorities and end up going through the motions for something I don't even get a lot of value from anymore. Do you regularly evaluate or does it just come to you? Thanks for the hometour and great video, as always!
Hi! Thank you as always. I think generally a lot of students do not like it when professors talk🤣 it doesn’t stop me from telling them advices though haha. When you feel lost about what current priorities are, I recommend you think of what kind of future you would like & what you can prioritize now for that future. Also I’d be amiss if I don’t admit I prioritize more than one thing at any given point of time! For now my main priority is finishing my education but I also invest in my health and relationships as well! Hope that helps and best of luck :)
My back hurts looking at that bed
Aw sorry maybe get your back checked out at the doctor’s
Depends on your back. my sister and I both have scoliosis, & we both sleep best on harder surfaces!
Nope…. have a bed with adjustable base
