    “Rejection is protection and redirection”. WOW! I’ve never heard that quote before, but it’s so beautiful and powerful, I’ll make sure to keep it in my tool box. Thank you for another great video, Alicia!! So happy to have you here sharing all of your wisdom. Hope your weekend stays calm even within the madness of work! ❤

    I spent the last 35 years looking for my real father and finally found him, but he had died two years ago.So I didn't get what I wanted,but I did get a half brother and sister. My own sister died 6 years ago,so this was a really bittersweet surprise and we both are thrilled to have a sister ( She only had a brother and always wanted a sister). My new sister told me that if I had found Dad in the past few years,it wouldn't have been good for me because he had dementia. So sometimes God works in mysterious ways.I have an amazing,huge new family to love now and can get to know my Dad through their stories.

    The quote about life is originally from Søren Kierkegaard, a danish philosopher and theologian who lived in the 19° century. A beautiful quote, one of my favourite actually.
    The quote about rejection is very deep and important but not easy to grasp for young people especially, and in general people who have low self esteem and live rejection as a tragedy. When I was very young, I'm 53 now, I was so afraid of rejection that I was always the first one to walk away on people and experiences. It took me a good amount of years and work on myself to realize that rejection from someone didn't mean rejection from everyone, and that it could be the beginning of something totally new and exciting.
    Inner wounds aren't easy to heal 😊
    Yeah, the universe gives us what we need rather than what we want, and that's ok.
    Hope you find soon a place to live, been there many times when I lived abroad and it is pretty stressful indeed.

      Ah thank you! Never knew that was Kierkegaard! Studied him back in college.. Glad to hear you were able to surmount your wounds with rejection of people- this is not easy to do. Thank you for the well wishes 💜

    I love that quote (life is not a problem to be solved but a mystery to be experienced) I've not heard it before but it's a nice grounding mantra to centre me in times of confusion and chaos and when I feel like I haven't got it all figured out, which is most of the time 😆

    Thank you for the wise words! It’s a challenge not to be attached to a desired outcome and have faith that we are at the exact place in life we need to be, even when things don’t go our way. Kind of alchemy of the mind - trusting the path, even if it looks like it’s leading us astray. Lovely bathrobe btw! Hugs from Japan😊💖

    My favorite perspective / mindset when a big problem comes along is from David Allen of GTD (Getting Things Done). He says "There are no problems, only projects." I love that because projects have a beginning, a middle, and an end.
    Car repair = a project. Moving to a new place = a project. Simple.

    I like the quote about rejection. It's a shift of mind rather than defeat. A question that's helped me redirect when things don't seem to be going quite the way I want is "is this a breaking point, or a turning point?" It's helped me realize that I'm not defeated if things don't go my way; Rather, I need to redirect and maybe come at it from a completely new angle. Not to downgrade anything, but just simplifying that life is just a series of choices and consequences has helped me reframe some of my negativity into neutrality.

    I don’t know if you’re interested in advice, so excuse this public letter to myself if it doesn’t apply to you: I had time to do this in California at one point and I was too young and scared to do it and now regret not doing it: until you find your new home, set up a permanent camping spot with a tent somewhere in the mountains. San Diego is hot so maybe in summer that would mean taking a break from work and doing this up north (or Norway ;) and also staying at the backpack-in campsite for several days at a time. My fantasy for myself includes trekking in many whole cantaloupes. Another option is making your car sleepable. I know beetles are small but I had a jeep that I never considered sleeping in and then stubbornly decided to do it anyway (take out seats and add plywood). I ended up living in it in Northern CA for 5 months cuz it was so great. Since then I have done many long road trips in cars ppl would never imagine sleeping in. Nothing beats waking up with the sun and being outside all the time. Only issue is hot summers, that requires a fan. Im living in Japan now planning a long-term Asia roadtrip. Oh btw, Japan is a phenomenal place to do this cuz there are amazing public baths everywhere for $3. Otherwise it's rivers, gyms, and vanlife shower kits. Another option is vipassana retreats. My fav part is they are donation-based which always makes me so impressed and happy to donate.

    Alicia, sorry you are going through this stress. I hope you dont get too beat up this weekend at the restaurant. I am sending positive energy or prayers your way. You are a beautiful, strong woman and i know you will do fine.
    I found that expectations can be tricky and unpredictable. A wise person once told me that the universe is under no obligation to fullfill our dreams and goals. All we can do is make good daily decisions and not worry so much about the outcome.
    Maybe we will see you soon in our neck of the woods.

    I’ve been going through the same thing in a sense of looking for a place to live. I’m not however on a 3 week deadline to move. I think the messaging for me is to stay put until the right thing presents. I don’t want to force the process. I want it to be easy and fun. I’m actually building a tiny house out of an old grain bin and that feeds and fuels my soul way more than looking at places that are not what my soul craves which is total financial freedom and time freedom to live what I’m doing and who I’m doing it with! I hope you can find the growth and adventure in your treasure hunt. It is fun when we don’t force things!

    I decluttered everything, living pretty minimal, should have now more time to enjoy in nature but it is vice versa. I am constantly decluttering, organizing, decluttering, organizing. On one hand I like to do it bjt on other I dont have free time at all. Maybe it is OCD. I dont know how to escape from this loop. Does anyone feel same and have tips how to overcome this and relax?

    • @Exploravore
      @Exploravore  21 день тому

      Like anything it can be addicting because the post declutter rush can induce dopamine. The less you buy the less you will declutter- and at a certain point the goal is really to just be able to BE. Perhaps the constant urge to declutter is because there really is more and more to let go of, but try to check in to see if it’s serving as a distraction in that moment. If it feels like it is, then say to yourself STOP… And slow down to nothingness. Silence always has the answers for you.

I know people who moved to Las Vegas. I know other people who moved to Texas. The housing crisis is unavoidable. The illegals keep streaming through the border making it worse. Hopefully trump wins in November. If he manages to deport millions then we might get the prices back down again. It simple supply and demand.

    • @Exploravore
      @Exploravore  Місяць тому +7

      I don’t think it’s fair to put blame on people coming to this country seeking freedom and a better life. The boarder issue is complicated. Remember this entire country was founded on foreigners from Europe seeking freedom and a better life, who took over the land and decimated millions of the peoples that were already living here. So we should not be so quick to judge just because we were lucky to be born here. The main issue with housing is there is just no more room on the coast and the people that moved here and bought up real estate en masse were wealthier people, a lot with the ability to work remote, that have larger expendable income. California is beautiful! Of course everyone wants to live here. But there is only so much land to go around in beautiful places..
