Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario alone has a half dozen Viet restos better than every place I’ve tried in California

32 years ago, I lived off Bellaire! The Vietnamese food was incredible back then! Even way back then, the largest Vietnamese population outside of Vietnam was in Houston! I'm in Northern Michigan now, but get back to Houston whenever I can! 💜💜💜🤩

Houston's bel air/Chinatown is definitely houston's equivalent to California's SGV and little Saigon. To me, Nam Giao is like Little Saigon's Ngu Binh restaurant as it only specializes in Hue food so I'm surprised when the guy said it's his first time seeing a restaurant like Nam Giao. But being from CA and living in Texas now, California's Asian food is still better

Houston Chinatown is one of the best if not the best in America! We have so many Asians here so we have a wide variety of foods, something for everybody! And the Viet food is hella good! (Been to every place on this video!!!)
Have you tried Chinatown San Francisco? Or Toronto? The rest of California has been disappointing. So bland. Atlanta had better Chinese food (when I tried it in 2000) than San Diego and Silicon Valley (aside from Chef Chu’s)
FUNG BROS. From this vid, I love Pho 54, they have one of the best Viet coffees too apart from pho, after that it’s gotta be Nam Giao (I’ve been a couple times with different experiences but I enjoyed a few of their dishes). Great video guys, I’m happy y’all liked Houston!

My personal favorite banh mi shop on Bellaire, if it’s open, is Nguyen Ngo (Nguyen Ngoc) and get it on a CROISSANT instead of a baguette. And with an egg. If it’s closed, plenty of other fantastic banh mi shops around the way.

If you ever do a series in the WDC/Virginia area, go to Viet House in Fairfax VA for Pho. There's another pho place across the street that isn't nearly as good. Kinnd of a dive, but the best pho. Also, downtown Fairfax has an awesome Uyghur place.

If you're still in Houston, you should check out Les Noodles around the Montrose area. I'm born in NYC, moved to Houston to attend Rice for my undergrads, obtained my masters at USC in Los Angeles, and I'm currently working in Silicone Valley in the Bay area. All of those areas are known for great Viet food and pho, but I have yet to find a better bowl of pho than the one at Les Noodles. The Pho Royal at Les Noodles could feed a whole family and includes everything including bone marrow. My adopted parents are both Vietnamese and I took them there when they visited Houston. They said the pho there is just as great or probably even better than the one they had growing up in Vietnam. You picked great locations for Viet food in Houston! Nam Giao has the best banh beo and banh bot loc. I usually get the appetizer sample. Vinh Hoa and Confucious also has the best family style lunch specials. I used to go to the Roostar location over on Gessner before they changed their name to Roostar. One of the best banh mi I've ever eaten and they buy their bread from one of my friend over at Slow Dough. Duc Chuong has one of the best BBH so you guys did great picking that spot. I also highly recommend checking out Texas BBQ (Killen's, The Pit Room), Ramen Tatsuya (also in Austin), Uchi (also in Austin and Dallas, but the Dallas location sucks), Local Foods for some great sandwiches/salad/soup, Tiny's for some cookies, Fat Cat for some ice cream, and some Viet Cajun food while you're in Houston (although Crawfish is out of season). Dallas has some really great Viet food around Arlington and some areas of Garland. Their Korean food scene over in Carrollton is wonderful as well.

They said the pho there is just as great or probably even better than the one they had growing up in Vietnam.
You picked great locations for Viet food in Houston! Nam Giao has the best banh beo and banh bot loc. I usually get the appetizer sample. Vinh Hoa and Confucious also has the best family style lunch specials. I used to go to the Roostar location over on Gessner before they changed their name to Roostar. One of the best banh mi I've ever eaten and they buy their bread from one of my friend over at Slow Dough. Duc Chuong has one of the best BBH so you guys did great picking that spot.
I also highly recommend checking out Texas BBQ (Killen's, The Pit Room), Ramen Tatsuya (also in Austin), Uchi (also in Austin and Dallas, but the Dallas location sucks), Local Foods for some great sandwiches/salad/soup, Tiny's for some cookies, Fat Cat for some ice cream, and some Viet Cajun food while you're in Houston (although Crawfish is out of season). Dallas has some really great Viet food around Arlington and some areas of Garland. Their Korean food scene over in Carrollton is wonderful as well.
