More proof of Rocky's depth and humanity as a character. Not just a hunk of fighting meat, but a human. We saw it in the first two films, and when Mick died. After the 4th and 5th film, we saw it again in Rocky 6. One of the greatest characters in cinema history.
Not blood at least. Sure he may matter to Donnie, but he has been through a lot. I also disagree with him skipping out on chemo because what about his son?
Sylvester Stallone is a better actor than people give him credit for. They look at his action movies like Rambo, Cobra, Demolition Man and The Expendables and think that he’s just a jacked up meat head. He’s more than that if you look at his other films. Films like First Blood, Over The Top, Cop Land, Rocky my favorite movie of all time and especially the first Creed film. His performance in this film was tremendous.
Sly T (Sylvester Stallone) has so much range, so much emotion as an actor. His Rocky movies are in my opinion the best movies he's done. Love his work as an action star (and absolutely was one of the best at his time) but as Rocky, you see so much more to him.
The way this movie captures the passage of time and legacy is special. It’s incredibly secure in its emotional beats but doesn’t wallow in them to the point of bringing the movie down. Brought out Sly’s best performance and should’ve won him Best Actor. We need Ryan Coogler out of Marvel so he can get back to making real movies again.
Yeah the classic pushing away so your loved ones won’t miss you as much when you’re gone. It’s a very logical train of thought but also a very unhealthy one
Before Adonis came into his life, Rocky was ready and looking forward to throwing the towel in for good. His wife passed, Paulie passed, and Robert started his own family. Rocky didn't have much to give anymore, except stories. He saw Adonis needing him and it brought him back and gave purpose again.
I am such a big Rocky fan. I was pregnant when I watched this movie and SOBBED so HARD. I was so afraid they were gonna end his story and have him die off. Instead he just disappeared in creed3 which was so bogus
Stallone didn't believe that Rocky should be a side character. If he is to be in the film, he needs to be right up there with Adonis. And he said he's open to returning if the writers have something like that in mind.
When i was a kid, i used to think Stallone wasn't a good actor. i was born in the late 70s. i saw rocky one, and didn't think he was good. And then i saw Copland when i was older, and thought he's pretty good. And now, as i watch this scene. Stallone is a better actor than Robert De Niro. Honest opinion.

Dont confuse Rocky and Stallone they are two different people. Rocky would have kept his wife forever. Stallone knows that the Rocky charcter had to change at the six film which is why he did not want talia to return.
@@swapnilmankame You must be pretty dumb to think I care about the character. I care about story decision, Adrian being dead is a path Stallone wanted to take the story so he can cry about losing her for 4 movies. Was it the best choice? I guess we'll never find out. You know if I didn't know better, he probably didn't want to pay them or wanted all the spotlight for himself. He killed her off camera.
it wasn’t jealousy at all, rocky is saying his time is long past and that he’s lost absolutely everything to the point where if he becomes sick or is injured he’s not gonna bother fixing it - why prolong his suffering? that’s his thoughts here, and this obviously hurts creed because adonis looks up to him as a father figure, it’s like if your father turned around and went “there’s no point, my time is long passed” and refuses treatment for something like cancer (rocky).
@@Josh-ym9vxI will say, he hasn’t lost EVERYTHING. He still has his son and grandson, that’s a lot to lose right there. I love that Rocky’s self awareness is immediate. He knows he messed up immediately, he’s not a dumb bell as he thinks

Stallone is a great actor. Such wisdom on and off the screen

Sadly he doesn't act like this consistently. If he picked more nuanced dramas and another satire like he played in "Oscar." He would get the credit
Facts & I think he's gotten better with time. I appreciate what he's contributed

Tragic that Stallone did not win Oscar for this.

He officially retired the character after Creed II. Really not much they could’ve done with him not being in Creed III.
He may come back in creed 4
