Am I the only one to notice this was at giggity’s restaurant...
No.
No, that was weird
apparently there is a "Giggity's Bar & Grill" in Texas.
Of course not, why would you think that?
Yes. You are. And you forever will continue to be The Only Single Person To Notice The Joke. You will forever try to explain to people what you've seen, and they will never believe you, over and over again until you give up and accept your sad, sad fate.
The order is :
Test card
2 uncommon or common in each color
Multicolored
Artifact or land
Older than m15 card
Mythic or rare to close it out
I was just coming down here to explain this. Points for you!
yep. The way the packs are set up allows it to both have _weird_ and wild pack contents (as seen here) while still being a solid draft experience, though I can only imagine the pain of having to pick which cards to give up.
@@flametitan100 that's why my friends and I just bought retail boxes and cracked them for our collections. Between four boxes at $110 each, we netted about $1k in value. It's honestly a really cool product and I enjoyed it.
@@lijahh1846 Oh yeah, I'm waiting for my box to arrive here. I might input the cards I acquire into Xmage or Cockatrice to do a pseudo cube draft with my friends online, and not have to worry about the value draft
Conventions smell weird and so do the cards.
This is what Iconic Masters should've been.
maybe im weird but i think iconic masters was really underrated
Agree ^
I'd say what M25 should have been, since so many iconic cards from the hisory of Magic.
Beginning “It smells weird.” Ending “I like the product. Why didn’t they make more?”
Rudy:"These things smell weird." Me:"Corona incoming"
He got high on the smell..... and that mana crypt
BOth my boxes of retail smelled weird af too
The retail version is the same, except it's got foils instead of test cards so they're pretty much the same in terms of explosive value.
except ones 600$ for cards you cant use and the other is 100 XD
So can you get three rares/mythic if your lucky?
@@Doom1461 Not lucky, it's likely to happen more than once in a box
@@Doom1461 yes, I ended up opening 41 rares and 7 mythics in one box. And half are actually worth something
@@commanderpower99 That's awesome! Thank you for the feedback! I may just pick one up myself!
So the pack layout is 2 C/U for each color, a multicolored card, a land/artifact card, a reprint card with the original frame, a R/M from '15 or later, and the test card (convention) / a foil (retail).
The slot with the old border seems to have a bunch of rares and mythics which is why there are so many double rare/mythic packs.
@@werbearjack Yeah, the old border slot is put together much the same way as the timeshifted sheet was in Time Spiral - 121 cool old cards regardless of their rarity, all of which appear in 1 out of 121 packs.
The packs of the retail version are just as insane.
The first pack I opened had Kargan Dragonlord, Mana Crypt, Animate Dead, and foil Sakura-tribe Scout.
Yeaaaa whole box not a card over 5 usd.
I grabbed a few regular Mystery Booster Boxes from my LGS for $99 each and my first box produced a foil Sen Triplets and a non-foil Mana Crypt. Incredible value!
It's like Wizards is so satisfied with all the whale products lately, they release something nice for your average consumer
I opened 4 boxes and didn’t even get a demonic tutor..
Plazstic, I’m actually opening my second box and it revealed a second Mana Crypt and an Expropriate.
I got 3 crypts in 2 boxes
And I'm sure someone else can top that
The Mystery Booster retail boxes are legit, and favorite set in years. I'm not exactly sure what's going to happen with card prices due to this set. I pre-ordered a booster box for $97 shipped and all. My go to online store shipped them out Wednesday, so that it arrived to me on release day (yesterday/Friday the 13th). By the time my booster box was delivered and I noticed how awesome the set was, I went to buy another. The store showed out of stock, but a hour later it was back in stock for $120. Then 2 hours later they went up to $130, and now today it's went to $150. Pricing going up 50 % in 1 day is pretty unbelievable. Not sure if that will last though.
I think it has an unlimited print run, so paying over like $110 isn't necessary unless you can't wait.
These are a lot of fun, but not for $30 per pack! I don't care too much about the test cards, so the retail edition is a great deal. It's identical, except the retail edition replaces the test card with a foil. I noticed that weird chemical smell too! Both the convention and retail cards smell that way.
The retail versions are a steal at $110. A lot of cards are $10-15+ and some are 20, 30. And of course mana crypt pays for itself at 115.
@@DotHacker99 prices are already tanking on all the value cards
Value tanks as each one has the watermark on the bottom left, meaning that the actual value is separate from where it was originally printed.
that was some Joe Biden tier sniff in the beginning
anyone else wearing earbuds and actually feel Rudy blow into their ear. This is like asmr level.
While eating at Giggity Restaurant I highly recommend the Floppy Tacos 🌮 🌮 🌮 Ignore the Creepy smell coming from the basement...
That Intro Was Amazing
P.s. my friends and i openned one WPN mystery booster box each. I didn't hit mana crypt. But my other 2 friends both hit a mana crypt (1 of them actually got 2 mana crypts in 1 box)
Anarchon D lol u can really get two mana crypts?
My buddy at his shop cracked a box and got 2 manacrypts. I did not get much.
@@themimeoplasm4882 at MF reno the pods were seeing quite a few double mana crypts. decent chance of them showing up 2 to a box when they show up. happened in a pod i was in. someone passed me one. it's a mystery why.
"Has anybody smelled the convention cards!?" - Rudy, 2020
Big Baller! 🤑
Hello
Skadarsh Narnjas!
Thank you Rudy and Scott for sharing this experience. Pretty steep, but those test cards are neat. I hope they serve crunchy tacos at Giggity's!
this was fun watching this. thanks Patron who lent his box to be open for us to enjoy.
I like that this product exists. I like that it's a limited print run. I will not be buying, drafting, or collecting any of the cards in the set, but a set like this (in my opinion) shifts the value of all other sets upwards and boosts the magic economy as a whole (looking at you: Homelands and Fallen Empires). Thank you WotC for making a product not for me, but for the rest of the community. Bravo!!
All those beautiful Weatherlight boxes 🤩
Anybody else notice Rudy changes his location every video? He has been to WotC and now he is at Giggitys Restaurant. I don't even know if that is a real restaurant.
I got the retail edition myself. Super happy with this product. The box was just full of value, and I wish it was more available
"Why is this not a booster box that stores are carrying?!" *Released in stores yesterday*
WOTC headquarters:
"Ok, so what should we do with storage unit C?"
_Oh, the one we found the skunk family in? Let's just pack them all up together..._
"But we have like 20 different sets-"
_I know, we will just get some people to doodle some art, throw them in as promos, and make it seem limited_
"Ok, but there are a couple really expensive cards in there, what should the MSRP be?"
_I don't know, let's roll a D6 and multiply by 100_
Underrated comment...
I remember drafting the standard version. The guy next to me passed a pack with 2 mythics in it, so I asked if he was sure. He said he already took a mythic.
They were Athreos, Scourge of the Throne and Daretti.
The draft experience for this was awesome too because there are 2 of every colour one multi coloured and an artifact per pack
The regular boxes are a ton of fun, picked one up at my LGS earlier today and got hit in the nostalgia a bunch of times. I know some people are concerned about the cards tanking in value but I enjoyed opening every pack and got some great stuff for my collection.
I'm not ashamed to admit, I smelled the cards after you mentioned it (lol)
16:05 not gonna affect prices? Check out mana crypt, it’s 115 only a day in. Selvala went from 60 to 20. The mystery versions of these cards are tanking, and honesty it’s great to finally get reprints one so many awesome staples.
@@iPhone4Gaddict The print run isnt low, they will print this one to demand.
@@iPhone4Gaddict It's back down. Selling for like $120 on average in the US.
@@mfmageiwatch that didn't age well
@@jadenlothes5001 what didn't age well?
Once these stop being opened at Magic Fests, the value of sealed packs is going to go up substantially, and shrinkwrapped boxes will command an even higher premium. They're going to become incredibly scarce collector's products. It's worth noting that Magic judges force you to open all the packs at the beginning of mystery draft events (or at least the ones in Reno did), so you can't just leave with the sealed packs and resell them on the secondary market.
Cracked a pack with two rares and a mythic rare, and another pack with a mythic rare and a foil mythic rare. Nuts!
2 things.
1. you get a rare/mythic in the post 2015 card frame and a card with older than 2015 card frame
2. at the time when they were first came out, the cheapest test card was just shy of $10 and the most expensive like 3? were about $100. So you where guaranteed to make at least 1/3 of your money back just in the test cards with the possiblility to get more through expensive reprints and the other test cards. Hence why this product is so expensive.
I don't know how I survived 5 Nights at Giggity's. It was so spooky!
Ordered a Festival in a box, now I'm looking back on Rudy's old videos to see what's in the convention edition box.
Epic opening Rudy! Your reaction to that big pull was priceless!
The regular mystery packs are the same thing without the playtest cards. So yes, this is actually cheaper and available.
That was super FUN. THANK YOU to Rudy and Scott.
The only difference between these and the regular one is, that instead of the testcards you get a foil in every pack. And thats a foil out of more than 1.600 cards, which are not in the regular set.
There is only a pool of 121 foils
rudy you get 2 commons/uncommons of each color, then 1 each for colorless and multicolored. 1 old bordered card, 1 new border rare/mythic
We had a Mystery Booster draft at my LGS yesterday for FNM. 10 people there, 2 of them pulled Mana Crypt. This set seems like a good way to get desired cards and a few floppy tacos on the way.
Duplication is an issue at least with my box of the NON-convention even with the large card pool.
2x Animar, Soul of Elements
2x Fblthp, the Lost
2x Greenbelt Rampager
2x Liliana, Death's Majesty
2x Release the Gremlins
2x Whir of Invention
These were all in the post 15 slot. The dups were mostly bulk rares. The foils and older rares offset the value along with the Mana Crypt pulled. A duplicate of that would have been nice :D
i'm 27 seconds in and I cannot stop laughing at the Location UA-cam said this video came from.
Giggity's Restaurant is gonna the name of my WiFi hotspot
I had a lot of fun playing with the retail packs. Hopefully Rudy gets his hands on some of them before they go up too much. FYI, each pack has 2 commons/uncommon for each color, an artifact/land, multicolor, a pre-m15, post-m15 card, and depending on which pack you open, a foil or a playtest card. The last cards are in a separate pool of 121.
Test Card, Dragons Maze, Iconic Masters, Duel Deck, Commander, Hour of Devastation, M15, Commander, Ixalan, Guilds, Hour, Gatecrash, Commander, $10, $20
I think It's also contributed to the fact that these were definitely designed to be drafted
In the midst of the crisis, it's good to see Giggity's is still open for business.
Just opened my retail edition. Mana crypt and foil Sen Triplets. I cant imagine these stay under $200 for long
Sell now if you can 🤷♂️
@@mortimerreed yeah prices are plummeting
@@mortimerreed but i play commander so i dont mind
Alone ate home, I exclaimed "WELL FUCK!" to myself, when you pulled the Mana Crypt. Just by pure reflex.
The retail version for £80 a box is the best magic set ever. Selling out/shooting up in price here in the UK.
Mystery boxes are 2 of each color, common or uncommon, an artifact or land, multicolored, rare/mythic pre 2015, rare/mythic post 2015. Then conventions are the r and d cards and retail are a foil slot which is it's own pool.
"Why didnt they just make this a product we can draft?"
They did, Rudy...they did. There is 1 card slot difference between the WPN and convention sets, and thats the playtest card becomes a foil card. Everything else is the exact same as the $110 box everyone is opening this weekend.
The retail version is exactly the same, except without the playtest cards, but with a foil from a curated list (separated from the set's list); one of the big money pulls in the foils is Sen Triplets, for example.
Each slot has a 121 cardpool seperate from eachother. The reg. Nonconvention ed. Is 100ish a box and has a super hot 121 foil slot that replaces the test cards for the lgs ver.
Well, that is a previous version of the mystery box.
The ones on sale don't have the test cards, instead they have a foil slot in the end, after the mythic/rare slot
Retail is even better. I got a box last night. Ther very last pack had mana crypt, demonic tutor and foil centric triplets. Best pack in my 23 years playing.
For Retail, you Get 2 of each color. (White, Red, Blue, Black, Green) They can be Uncommon or Common. Then It's a Multicolor Common or Un, then a Mono/Land Common or Un, then you get a Pre M15 Card (any rarity) then a Post M15 Card (Rare or Mythic). The last card will be a foil, any rarity.
Oh and these are their own set. While they are reprints and carry the set symbols from the set they were reprinted from, the key is the little planeswalker symbol in the bottom left corner
"Why didn't they make more of this?" Oh my sweet summer child...
That's extremely cool and as someone who hasn't bought a MTG product in over 20 years if this wasn't $600 a box I might actually buy a couple booster boxes. The assortment of cards some I remember and others I've never seen would be cool to open. Again though $600 that without that Mana Crypt at the end would be very hard to justify. Test cards are neat and fun at all but like you said we have no idea how many of these are going to pop up for sale...
Google or ebay "mtg mystery booster box". You will find the retail version around 150$. It's the same as convention boxes, but the test cards are replaced by foil cards.
Can remember pulling 3 of the legendary dragon cards in a box, back in those days. " Rith the awakener" was one of them.
Perfect opportunity to start playing MTG
13:36 Rudy opens a $45 dollar bloom tender and is completely unfazed by it. What a fucking badass.
I'm watching this right after coming back today from playing a draft of the retail version of this set. Ended up with a four-color nephilim and golem tribal deck where I kept bouncing flickering and phasing solemn simulacrum and mulldrifter over and over again. And I won 2 out of 3 rounds with the wacky jank.
It was a blast I also pulled a selvala heart of the wild which paid for the draft and then some. This is a very fun set for draft even though it's playing at the retail version.
The retail version was an amazing experience to open. Pulled a mana crypt and a foil teferi's puzzle box.
Some friends and myself opened boxes last night. We did not get any test cards in any pack. Each pack also contained a foil card at the end which could be any rarity(usually rare though). This box opening was very weird from our experiences. Edit: Was this a convention box and not a retail box?
I love how the rich guy flips thru the potential Rhystic Study and Demonic Tutor spots......... Rookies
How did you get back there little fella?!
Imagine having a hole display of V1 convention boosters. I'm so jealous
I pulled a mana crypt too....but 12 out of 24 foils were damaged...so I have to email pics for replacement product... I then bought 8 packs from a different store and had miscuts on all the foils...like the blade was dull
Notice second to last card, is an older rae with no holo stamp, but last one is. Different sheets.
Imagine Arabian Nights cards which is available on Chronicles, as... City of Brass. But with the bright of Arabian Nights and the Symbol.
when you stash the last boosters in walmart under the shelf so the brooms cant clean them up-
I pulled a mana crypt in my box too! So much potential in these boxes. I don't see the convention boxes being worth it though.
Retail versions include a foil from a 121 card pool instead of a play test card. Arguably going to push down the price of cards if the retail product is actually print to demand.
The mana crypts alone are going for $125 vs. the current $200.
Oh Rudy, that opening man! What a rush man!
Rudy! The regular boxes are even better.
O snap we have musical Rudy here today
I opened a box with my BOCES teacher and we got a Mana crypt and rhystic study in 2 packs.
Every slot in the pack is its own entire sheet, the first like 13 can't be rare, but the last two are at least one guaranteed rare/mythic, and then the 'old frame'' slot as noted can be whatever from that sheet, which has a lot of rares. Gavin said the only way they could make this was to literally use the EXACT printing files, that's why dates don't show 2020 etc, they just literally slapped the symbol in the corner so it wouldn't fuck things up.
At 5:45 that pack had 16 cards in it. 3 white commons and/or uncommons.
17:56 yep
The booster boxes for retail are out... no test cards... but they are $500 less. I cracked 2 ... $350 value in each.
There is a definite strong smell. I likes it.
I’ve had nothing but awesome pulls so far.
Rudy: how can this product justify $600 flippin dollars?
Also Rudy: HOLY SMOKES! TWO-HUNNID DALLA MANA CRYPT!
"Set is so large it won't really have an impact on prices." Every card has a one in five chance of being in a box. A hundred dollar box. So all those fancy-shmancy foil rares will take a hit. And Mana Crypt will go SO low. Mark my words. (Regular Edition comment)
Good! This game is better when everyone can afford it
Mana Crypt went from 180 already down to 115 so it's time to get your copy soon
It's already gone down to 115 dollars on the day of release so yeah
the expensive cards are already tanking
If I understand correctly, every card should be the same rarity(regardless of the rarity color symbol). Every slot has a unique 121 card sheet to pick from. Your chance of pulling any specific card is the same as pulling any other specific card. Mana Crypt is just as common as Rancor.
Wouldn’t pay $600 for a convention one but bought 2 of them at my LGS to help them out with having to cancel all events for the time being.
I happen to listen to rap and when they "Flex" with cars women and watches etc im like whatever but when rudy flexs his mtg inventory my god i get wet and weak in the knees
the way the packaging works is 2 of each color with 1 slot being common or uncommon in each, then a random old border card uncommon rare or mythic then another rare and a foil which is of 181 card i believe that are NOT in the main set ( so foil cards ONLY come in foil and non foil cards ONLY have non foil varients. IE you cannot pull a foil mana crypt as mana crypt can be pulled as a non foil)
Even the non-convention Mystery Pack cards smell strange. Not in a bad way necessarily but strange.
Ringtone Rudy Returns
My friend got 2 retail boxes and pulled madness out of it including a mana crypt. Bought 2 more the next day and got 2 more mana crypts. And that was at the $106 price a box. Also not including everything else he opened, it's insane. I'm waiting in my 3rd box to come in tomorrow. Hoping to get my own mana crypt
To have just one column of any set would be so grand
Seeing cards in the old pre-2003 frame is making me giddy XD
Hey Rudy! Not sure if others mentioned it. (Don't wanna sift through comments) Convention Version is expensive because retail version replaces the R&D cards with foils of cards from random sets. Cheers!
Just bought 3x of the 2021 version for 249.99 each (Canadian, so $200 USD) excited about them!!! =)
Rudy, they did make it into a regular product. The chaos drafts are sweet too. Its just going to be shortlived, because its not a big run. Prob a good investment.
My Mystery Booster box/cards smelt of horrible plastic. I had the LGS edition though. I am hoping they air out soon, they have a STRONG smell.
Rudy. It's 2 of each color, multi color, artifact
Each convention booster has a very high chance for a mana crypt. Likely adds to the overall box cost. I have seen 4 of these opened 3 of which I was prese T for and all of them have had a mana crypt. Also quite common in retail boxes.
Retail version is every bit as good. I opened a box on Friday. Lots of pack to pack variation, but the total value per TCG: just over $900! My first pack had a foil Sen Triplets 🤯. Not bad for a $99 box.
