@@danw3735 yes. magic prices arent that volatile. Theres preorder cope prices then within days of release rapid drops and then they bottom. The amount of times a common suddenly shot up from 10 cents to dollars isnt that often. If a card sucked when it came out it usualy stays sucking.

Best drafting set they've come out with since conspiracy for commander players, and super fun to draft in general. Worth buying and playing with friends

Got one of these boxes for $100 flat from my lgs and pulled almost $600 from it. Got a Mana crypt, Teferi's protection, Bloomtender, Demonic Tutor, Recruiter of the Guard, Sevala, and all the other massive hits. It was an absolutely nuts experience.
I think the key to the value is that wizards wasnt thinking these cards are worth what their original counterpart is worth. All cards should be knocked a few notches below their non-symbol-in-the-bottomlefg counterparts

It was a very nice assortment, unlike the two boxes I opened. Mind you, 50+ rares in my first box and 5 mythics. Financially they totaled just $95. The second box surrendered less rares, about 35, and as many mythics as the first box. Total value on it: $116. Best pull: Teferi's Protection. But, hey, I got a good selection of cards and broke even on both boxes.
This and jumpstart are two sets that I have seen received really well by new and old players. The card quality and variety gets players excited for packs and not just singles.
This is ridiculous! So many amazing cards. Super fun to watch too But I am noticing some weird fluctuations in prices since this came out. Like that Bloom Tender is only around $25 on Tcgplayer for the mystery, but the original Eventide print is still around $50+. And cards like the original Manamorphose dropped more than half its price, and the mystery print is half of that price! Very intriguing product to say the least..
Not really. Selvala, heart of the wild and teferi's protection worth more. Even expropriate is about the same value of sen triplets. The prices of mystery cards are very different from the original ones. Sen triplets foil from alara reborn is about 140 dollars. From mystery is 25. Mana crypt from eternal masters is around 200. From mystery is 140. Few cards hold some value, Mana crypt is a no brainer, but after that the most expensive card is Teferi's protection at 32 dollars (commander 2017 is 45bucks)
Total value of rares, mystics and foils: 203. Removing sub dollar cards: 186. Removing sub fivers: 136. Top 5 cards: Rhys at 10, recruiter at 11, sen triplets at 23, selvala at 25, and bloom tender at 26.
Rudy I know you expressed confusion about the value of the old cards that were reprinted. So basically, the cards are classified as being from the mystery booster packs. You can tell by looking in the bottom left corner where it shows the planeswalker symbol (and the black border if it is an old card. The mystery booster cards and foils hold significantly less value than their original counterparts.
Rudy, the way printing is structured from what ive seen is just the most recent printing of the card is what they reprint in the set. Im not sure with the specifically old border cards as they have their own slot in the pack, but the majority of it is why was most recently printed. The "GK1" card was a Guild Kit card.
This set was amazingly fun to open. Snagged two boxes at my LGS before the prices skyrocketed. Opened a mana crypt in each. Insane value, tons of $5-20 cards and a few nice bombs in the foil slot like Sen Triplets and Scourge of the Throne. I think the best thing about this is just the variety. It offers a lot for multiple formats and my EDH decks are loving the new firepower. Hope we get to see you open some more of these! Definitely wanna see the reaction to a mana crypt opening.

I know that a bunch of my cards will go down in value because of this, but I'm still so excited for this product. The only thing that bothers me is the little "reprint emblem" on the lower left. I wish it was a little more subtle, it makes all the cards look non-symmetric imo
Just opened my own box. I didn't get anything crazy, just a solid return on investment, though I only counted up the foils, rares, lands/artifacts, and multicolour slots. I think the most valuable card I got was a bloom tender, and then a solid amount of $3-$10 cards. Still, it was fun to see what I got, and at least some of the pulls seem like they'll be useful for some of the decks I'd like to assemble or just for having a weird and fun collection.

so overall the main hitters from my knowledge is servala, marchesa and the foil sen triplets of this opening. triplets about 140 and servala is 50 bucks from my knowledge so besides and seeing rare/mythics that most of those are around 10-20 bucks for sure the owner of this made his money back. the foil sen triplets is the one that helped achieved that.
Last product like this was battlebond. And it's going to have a smaller print run like battlebond due to the quarantine most likely. Wish I could've bought more.
The prices for a vast majority of the cards plummeted like a stone. example: I opened a queen marchesa last Friday and it was ~$17 that day. As of now, it's sitting at ~$7-$8 TCG Market
@@joshualynn9337 Which is how it should be. Cards that are expensive only because they're underprinted will settle downward, while cards that are sought after and played regularly will rebound. I don't think cards like Rhystic Study(which was a ~$20 common a couple of weeks ago) should be that expensive, it just hasn't been reprinted.
what really nuts is that like most of the cards are usable in commander so no matter what you pull you get some fun out of it. it just feels so good opening this I hope wizards can do more products at the caliber going forward
250$ CAD the box today on Ebay and the best card is a ManaCrypt which will be reprint on Double master but also Mystery Boxes does not hold anything very rare Demonic Tutor is 55$ CAD and is the second highest card.
I think they pick the all the weird print versions over the original versions is that those have the latest and updated oracle text/current formatting. They only do original frame if the most recent printing is white bordered (see Weathered Wayfarer).
The way the foils in this set work is they all come from a single 121 card sheet. None of the foils are in the set as nonfoil. And they all have equal chance of showing. So you aren’t any more or less likely to get one foil over another. Despite getting a mana crypt, that box was still $250+ easily if looking at original printing price. However, Mystery Booster prices are way lower. Really great product overall though.

Checking in from the future Double Masters 2022 timeline. The Sentinals are tracking our every movement, professor X is dead, Rudy is still underground flipping tacos for the hungry masses. Anyways 2022 Intruder Alarm $15 Braid of Fire $9.93 Norn’s Annex $6.18 Sundial of the Infige $5.79 Send Triplets and Karrthus just over $4 Needless to say the foil exclusives are still pretty low but it’s nice bonus money. A Mana Crypt from this set is $180 which is the obviously where you want to be but that Bloom Tender~$22 and Recruiter of the Guard at $30 ain’t so bad. Selvala is at $12. It’s a decent box opening but it’s not going to get your kids into the mutant academy for 2022/2023.
wow no mana crypt but your foil slot was certifyibly insane. This was my experience with the mystery booster box i opened. My mouth was constantly agape and i yelled "What?!?" Many times. My one box had a first pack mana crypt and 2 foil amulet of vigor bloom tender and much more doubled my money at least. my foil slots were good but yours were better INSANE PRODUCT
So I opened one Display, lot's of fun cards to expand decks with. Pulled two foil triplets. The foil slot is whack as hell. Funnily enough the gamestore sold them cheaper than all online traders on the first day. Edit: 13 mythics overall and 30+ rares. And let's not forget that there are some real nice uncommons in there aswell.

All the printings are the MOST RECENT version, which is why there are Anthology versions instead of their OG Commander versions
This in draft is a blast, mainly because: THERE ARE NO ARCHETYPES
This is by far one of my favorite products ever released by WoTC. I give them shit for a lot of things, but this was well done.

The set choice is due to it being the newest printing of the card. That's how they chose the art/set every card is printed in this Mystery set.
Except for Form of the Dragon had more recent art from another set print too.

250$ CAD the box today on Ebay and the best card is a ManaCrypt which will be reprint on Double master but also Mystery Boxes does not hold anything very rare Demonic Tutor is 55$ CAD and is the second highest card.
The card value is cut in half (commonly) for having the Mystery Wizards Symbol in the bottom left
I think they pick the all the weird print versions over the original versions is that those have the latest and updated oracle text/current formatting. They only do original frame if the most recent printing is white bordered (see Weathered Wayfarer).
The way the foils in this set work is they all come from a single 121 card sheet. None of the foils are in the set as nonfoil. And they all have equal chance of showing. So you aren’t any more or less likely to get one foil over another. Despite getting a mana crypt, that box was still $250+ easily if looking at original printing price. However, Mystery Booster prices are way lower. Really great product overall though.

Needless to say the foil exclusives are still pretty low but it’s nice bonus money. A Mana Crypt from this set is $180 which is the obviously where you want to be but that Bloom Tender~$22 and Recruiter of the Guard at $30 ain’t so bad. Selvala is at $12. It’s a decent box opening but it’s not going to get your kids into the mutant academy for 2022/2023.

wow no mana crypt but your foil slot was certifyibly insane. This was my experience with the mystery booster box i opened. My mouth was constantly agape and i yelled "What?!?" Many times. My one box had a first pack mana crypt and 2 foil amulet of vigor bloom tender and much more doubled my money at least. my foil slots were good but yours were better

So I opened one Display, lot's of fun cards to expand decks with. Pulled two foil triplets. The foil slot is whack as hell.
Funnily enough the gamestore sold them cheaper than all online traders on the first day.
Edit: 13 mythics overall and 30+ rares. And let's not forget that there are some real nice uncommons in there aswell.
That foil intruder alarm is about $50+ and i need it in my life yesterday.
