So my LGS has a rule in draft "if you want all the cards in the pack you open you can keep it and buy another pack for the draft" so needless to say I walked out with a box worth of packs before finishing the draft
On onre hand, it must be pretty and it's certainly preventing "good / strong" rare cards to be actually drawn and played for the draft On the other hand, I guess that it prevents games won over a single card.

I had doubts about asking a friend to pick up one of these at their local game store, and then saw that you'd posted this. Looks like I was right to grab a box! Thanks so much for the analysis. I rarely comment here, but I have to say that your product reviews are top notch, and I always value your opinion and thoughts on Everything that comes out for our hobby.
In one simple word: YES !!! Even with the devaluation that the cards will suffer it's well worth it. going to buy a couple of boxes myself. Just the value that the foil slot have is enough.
I was really looking forward to drafting Mystery Booster this Friday with friends... then Coronavirus struck Italy and now I'm secluded at home and the LGS closed too. :(

Thanks for video, Prof. I drafted the set at my LGS today (perhaps for the last time for a while due to social distancing), and I got $78 (CAD) of Commander staples valued at $2 or more. Plus played some great games of Magic!
This all sounds awesome, and I'd love to get my hands on one! Thing is... although my LGS *might* be open tomorrow, the government just issued a quarantine for pretty much everyone. We're literally being asked not to travel using public transport. I've been looking forward to this for weeks, and now we get hit with Covid-19 :/

Another wonderful magic: the gathering product review. You do a fantastic job at explaining the product and reviewing multiple aspects of of them. Thanks Professor 👍
As someone recently getting into Commander and needing a broader boost to his collection (started on XLN release), I saw the potential as soon as I saw the card list. I love drafting above all else, so this set was going to be a double win for me - then I saw the retail price after saving and found it wasn't premium, and I'd budgeted enough for two boxes! Triple win! Good luck with the booster box game for this one, Prof. I can't wait to see the video, and look forward to cheering you on from afar.
My store finally got some in. Wasn't able to get enough players to draft, but we did a sealed Mystery Booster event. Tons of fun. Thanks for the review, Professor!

Couldn’t agree more. Absolutly love this product. Something you didn’t broach, but is my personal reason for buying this product: I started playing and seriously collecting at ravnicaish time period. So I don’t have many of these cards. And I can’t wait to open my box. And add to my collection some outstanding staples, cards I never thought or knew existed, and I did draft some of this at pax east and it was incredible experience.
Completely agree with this assessment. 6 drafts down (5 convention, 1 retail), still absolutely love this set and still have to read cards to see how/if they work. Synergies can definitely occur, decks can be really challenging and fun to build, but overall, the value (as of this comment) is still also strong.

this video was absolutely helpful. when I first heard about the set, it was rather vague and the guy telling me about it only really mentioned the total number of cards in it. I wasn't really interested, but you're break down of what's in it and the potential money hits makes me think it's a gamble worth taking and should be worth my time and money even if I don't hit the big expensive cards.
Hey Prof! I just want to thank you thanks to your recommendation I decided myself to go to a Mystery Booster booster draft on my local gamestore, since there is no way I have money for the full box hahaha, and It was a blast! I actually won the draft, and got myself some value and awesome cards for my commander, so thank you Professor!
I loved this explanation of Mystery Boosters and the differentiation between repacks and reprints The image of the cards in the Cheez-It bag is what did me in
As far as I can tell. The only possibly bad thing is that your chances of getting a single card you want is low because the set has about 2000 cards in it. But there's plenty of good cards to balance that. It seems like a great product
I really like the slotted method of these packs a lot more than regular draft packs. Due to the relatively equal number of cards, I was able to get together with a friend, open 3 packs each, keep the cards outside of the initial 10 and pool those 10 cards from each pack into a centralized pool. You should end up with 12 cards per each color. Determine who wants to pick colors first, then let them either pick the guild colors they want, or have them pick 1 color and go back and forth until both players have 2 colors in hand. The last color that is unpicked is then split between both players to keep. You are free to use the excess cards that you saved from the packs and are allowed to use them in these 40 card decks, provided they're in the guild colors, and can use the basic lands provided at the LGS of play. When choosing a color, try to go for any dual colored cards you picked, as those will be really useful towards deck construction. It's a lot like buying a draft experience to play unsanctioned, just without having to fork up money to buy unsanctioned, and you get legal playable cards.
I like that people call them re-packs when they literally have a WOTC logo at the bottom of the card that the normal version don't have. You think WOTC is going to organize and run used cards back through the printer for that little symbol?

So my LGS has a rule in draft "if you want all the cards in the pack you open you can keep it and buy another pack for the draft" so needless to say I walked out with a box worth of packs before finishing the draft
Man that's such a good rule. That's one of the main reasons I don't draft.
On onre hand, it must be pretty and it's certainly preventing "good / strong" rare cards to be actually drawn and played for the draft On the other hand, I guess that it prevents games won over a single card.

davidiswhat I believe standard draft rules are a player can take there packs or replace by buying a new pack this rule was brought in when god packs were introduced
An amazing analysis of a much anticipated product Prof. Thanks much
I was really looking forward to drafting Mystery Booster this Friday with friends... then Coronavirus struck Italy and now I'm secluded at home and the LGS closed too. :(
@@rhythmandblues_alibi Thanks!
Thanks for clearing up all the info on this Prof it was impossible to find all in one place
"Outrageously impressive percentage of needed reprints."
Except the fetchlands. Of course. Of course.
And is your voice okay there, Prof? Don't go sick on us :(
It's nice to not have th^m: it's getting annoying to see them EVERYWHERE when you want to play "old cards" (and I started with Onslaught). At least, it won't be the case during those drafts.
And Wastes. A $1.50 for a basic land!
This comment aged so well in a single day.
@@hatjousuke Yep.
But mostly due to the mention of a set reprint, cuz the Secret Lair can hardly be called one. Best kind of getting blindsided though :)
i just allowed youtube notifications, solely for the reason of supporting your channel. keep up the good work! thanks for the objective analysises!
I like that you pretty much upload daily now. Don't overwork yourself tho!
New to Magic, its quite intimidating at points!! The way you break down, analyze and explain ALL aspect from ROI to game play is ... am I gunna do it?... A+ haha. I truly thank you for your videos. Falling in love with Mtg!!!
Who’s watching this when $100 vip boosters are out
If only I would thrown down at $100 a box.. That unlimited print run tho 👀
Gonna go draft this beauty tomorrow, I am very excited. Nice video!
Can I just bring up how great it was to have Krenko and Intruder Alarm in the same pack? Would be hilarious to pull this in a Sealed Pool against friends.
MTG has excited me with product for a while now. This looks like an incredible draft experience and I would love to be able to play this.
Thanks for the information, Professor!
I'll be honest with yall, me and 2 friends opened 2 boxes a piece today and honestly, it was all 🔥. From Mana Crypt all the way down to the $1-$2 commons and uncommon, there is 100% value in this set. 10/10 will buy again.
Better do it soon before the boxes dry up. This is NOT an unlimited print run.
Another wonderful magic: the gathering product review. You do a fantastic job at explaining the product and reviewing multiple aspects of of them. Thanks Professor 👍
Genuinely excited, products have been shoddy lately. Its good to see quality returning to wizards
Never realized how hilariously drunk The Professor sounds on 0,5x speed.
That made my day, thanks!
2:32 - 2:42 I'm dying XD
THANK YOU!!
6:55 and after is the best, it's just so hilarious, perfect drunk voice!!
7:55 xDDD
My store finally got some in. Wasn't able to get enough players to draft, but we did a sealed Mystery Booster event. Tons of fun. Thanks for the review, Professor!
Now this is a rare review, an A+, this restores my faith in card games.
I like the fact that they tell you what color or type of card you'll get and of how many in each pack witch I think is a bit better than your normal booster packs.
ah, my favorite 8$ common: Manamorphingtime
Manamorphingpowerrangers
I pre-ordered at my lgs last week but wasn't hyped until I watched this. Thank you Professor!
You feeling okay, prof? Your throat sounded kinda scratchy back there...
Corona confirmed.
I'm sure it's just him screaming too mu h to the value gods
@@mladenus Hey! This is a magic channel. You call it Phyresis and give Phyrexian (and the Father of Machines, Yawgmoth) the respect they deserve for making this plague.
So happy to see such a positive review finally for a product lol, Congrats!
Personally I'd much rather have a foil than a play test card. Especially when they foil slot is just straight up $$$
@@tbd3058 the average price of the foil slot was more than twice the cost of the pack. That's really not too shabby by my standards. I suppose yours could be different.
@@tbd3058 before the huge price drop the average price was over $8. There's tons of video actually showing this. Also relevant for what? There are so many good cards in this set it's insane.
Considering what I paid to get some of those playtest cards to my cube I think they could have been in normal boosters...
Wow I’m glad I found this! I was waiting for this exact set to be created. I cannot tell you how much I always want to draft an affordable Masters Set.
I missed the boat on these, they're $180 now.
“Mystery Booster Box is $100-109.00 (USD)”
*checks online store* (it’s 3x the price)
uh-oh
Completely agree with this assessment. 6 drafts down (5 convention, 1 retail), still absolutely love this set and still have to read cards to see how/if they work. Synergies can definitely occur, decks can be really challenging and fun to build, but overall, the value (as of this comment) is still also strong.
Would have liked to draft this with our draft group... except they were released day 1 in Canada at 300-350$ (Convention edition)
Reasonable price ?
Unlimited print run ?
If only this was true
I just bought an entire box for 100€
hearing the prof say the grade, this product is what mtg wants to be and this product is for you was the most happy thing I heard all year so far. That was beautiful. thanks prof :D thanks mtg! :D
It’s all about drafting with this box!
this video was absolutely helpful. when I first heard about the set, it was rather vague and the guy telling me about it only really mentioned the total number of cards in it. I wasn't really interested, but you're break down of what's in it and the potential money hits makes me think it's a gamble worth taking and should be worth my time and money even if I don't hit the big expensive cards.
Many Magic the Gathering players ask the question : is it worth it to watch the prof's videos? yes the answer is yes.
Thank you sir, it's so good seeing a video like this before buying anything
It only took about 5 years......yes masters eveything......OMG YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My LGS is selling boxes for $150 and $7 a pack. 🤔 did the value go up when people realized Mana Crypt was in an unlimited print set?
I loved this explanation of Mystery Boosters and the differentiation between repacks and reprints
The image of the cards in the Cheez-It bag is what did me in

For a time I was out of the play and collecting for the game. This sounds like a good way to build up on cards I misses out on during my off time.
This set gets my nostalgia tingling.
this video helps me so much,
i am going out and buying multiple booster boxes now,
thank you so much!!!
Wait a sec where’s the “BUT”
I am sitting on it.
@@TolarianCommunityCollege *slow clap*
As far as I can tell. The only possibly bad thing is that your chances of getting a single card you want is low because the set has about 2000 cards in it. But there's plenty of good cards to balance that. It seems like a great product
@@DreadPirate321 After just one card? buy the single, it'll be a lot cheaper than it was a few weeks ago.
I didn't realize packs were constructed by color. That is really cool and a great way to have color balance in a pod!
Your hair is coming in great we need another charity like that again 😁😉
I don't play Magic, focusing on other card games, but seeing your channel delve into what WotC in particular does for Magic is seriously interesting.
I needed around 30 sol rings anyway...
Bruh, same. I've gotten to the point where I'm proxying rings
I read this in Shaggy's voice. Perfection.
I've been buying ever CMD set as they release them, I'm sitting on a MOUNTAIN of Sols...
@@endersblade Same, I think I'm at 38 sol rings or something ridiculous like that.
Of course you do. You know, because Sol Ring.
Yo legit, that was the most anger/tone from the Prof with the intro explanation. I liked it.
Or it sounds like you have a cold/sore throat in which case, feel better Prof!
