    It'd have been awesome to have seen a built EJ22, EJ207, or even a 2.1L stroker build go into it, but I understand the EJ25 is a much better supported platform. Cant wait to see this thing come together!

      New 2.3 the destroked motor is not new lol it’s 15 years old at least now. Maybe iag makes it but honestly it ain’t shit untill it has 4mm longer rods and 83mm stroker pistons. Then you have made an actual difference in ratios.

I personally am interested more specifically at your engine build. I am sure there will be others here who will be interested in those numbers so we have more accurate info of cost of build. Here in the uk the 2.5s just dont hold when getting tracked at that power level, we learnt that over 10 years ago, the thinest part is the liners and too much movement from block, cracked liners and headgaskets go all the time at that power level when raced, the only block we use here is ej22 bored to a 2.35, reliable, torque and revs. Under 500flywheel the ej25 is a decent road car.

    Wont your ring gap be tighter without using a torque plate when you took your measurements?

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  2 місяці тому +1

      They shouldn’t be, after the blocks been bored and honed with the torque plate is should be fairly true. I’m sure there will be a small distortion but nothing that push measurements out of tolerance

    Make sure to remove the batteries whenever you store that snappy! I know more than one person that had to have theirs repaired (out of warranty) because they leaked.

    Question, why no light oil on the con rod bolts before torqueing ?

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  2 місяці тому

      They get coated in 5W30 before torquing

      I was gonna ask the same question. But may, are those normally ARP fasteners on the rods. If so why not use the ARP hardware lube when torqued to spec. Didn't know if you have a preference? Thanks for the details. In the works of building one as well. Thanks for the videos!! Chad

      Kept it a little tighter so I don’t get any bright ideas on the dyno to send it farther 😂 thing will also be living on E85

    I really think more people should consider dry sumping their EJs. Yes its £6k+ but still cheaper than a rebuild every 6 months 🤷‍♂️😄

    Excited to see it running! why use the tighter clearances? I'm planning on building an ej25 what clearances do you suggest?

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  2 місяці тому +1

      I opted for tighter clearance on the rings so I don’t send this engine to the moon for power. Opened the bearings a bit for 20-50 and to experiment a little with using a dry sump

  • @chriso1373
    @chriso1373 2 місяці тому +1

    How did you determine what you want your bearing clearance to be?

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  2 місяці тому +1

      Oil weight and talking to a couple other people who have set up their engines for dry sumps. Wet sump is pretty standard for set up. But I was curious how a dry sump would effect the bearing clearances so changed things up a bit

    Where can I get new pistons and crankshaft and valves at for my EJ22? I'm not trying to do anything crazy, I just want it to run for a long time as my daily driver.

      Tbh management at aerospace companies are all asshats. Most of them are the six sigma people who have no idea how the manufacturing lines actually work and think they know best. I butted heads with alot of them whenever they’d try to make dumb changes
