I love seeing a young generation experiencing Zeppelin. Their music has transcended so much time already. They are one of, if not the, greatest bands of all time.
remember hearing this song for the first time many years ago and thinking it was great-and then that last bit came in ! unbelievable- zeppelin's finest moment
You are welcome Sarah. Beautifully expressed assessment of this song, couldn't agree more. If you like a good love song, try LZ's `Thank You'. One of the greatest love ballads written.
Zeppelin wrote the blueprint for countless others to follow and all four of them were incredible innovators. This is one of my favorite songs off of the second album, so thanks for delving a little deeper, love the channel!
I grew up hearing them through my mom so the rock side of me is all my dad but country, the bee gees, temptations, the oldies, Michael jackson, is all my mom.
When Led Zeppelin got together in 1968, they recorded their first album very quickly and included cover songs because they didn't have enough original material. The band spent 1969 on tour and recorded this 2nd album 'Led Zeppelin II' between tours of America and Europe and they captured magic for sure on that record 🔥🔥🤘🤘It included their first major hit - 'Whole lotta love'... and charted at #1 in 1969 (a first for Led Zeppelin) and was a mix of blues, psychedelic and heavy rock... Standout tracks included - 'Heartbreaker' ... "Livin' lovin' Maid" ... 'Ramble on' ... 'Bring it on home' If u listen to the 'Led Zeppelin III' album from 1970, it's a mostly acoustic record... the band wanted to try new things and didn't want to be just a heavy rock band. At the time, fans were disappointed because there was no 'Whole lotta love' on it... But in 1971, Led Zeppelin scored their biggest record (Technically untitled, often called 'Led Zeppelin IV') w/ the song 'Stairway to heaven' ... and the album has sold 24 million copies in the US to date, top 5 album of all time.
@tommythompson9565 haha thank you. Took a bit to get them in the early days as I wanted ones that were good, that would last, and that showed who I was personality wise as i love my cat so why not represent her? Haha glad you like it.
@@SarahraeLivingLife I just happened to watch, right before this one, your video that had a comment from you regarding buying yourself headphones. Enjoyed your stern rebuke of the obnoxious commentors. Keep on r'actin .
one of best of led zep. that outro is g.d. badass. plant does a fantastic job. i cannot unhear these magical tracks thats why i cant stand modern garbage that has the kiddies mind controlled.
SarahRae , i was 14 years old when this came out and this some still engulfs my soul . It's as good as it gets for me . ( And if your wonderful furry companion comes into the video , for me it doesn't bother me personally at all because i know that unlike anyone on the Internet , he's your real friend and would give his life for you ) juss sayin
Awesome song from my favorite Led Zeppelin album, their 2nd, the famous Brown Bomber that, along with the first album, set a standard for all heavy music to come. Jimmy Page is indeed a wizard on guitar. Same album, try Heartbreaker if you want to hear what a Gibson Les Paul sounds like in the hands of a musical genius. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
He really is. This is another one of those bands that hand geniuses and people who were masters in there crafts, in every instrument. I'll definitely check out that song.
hey Vic, I always thought the Heartbreaker solo was a Les Paul, but I've been reading on some Zeppelin boards that the solo in studio was a Tele? What u think? I do hear the tele playing rhythm in left headphone, but... any thoughts???
@@bishlap He played the Telecaster on the 1st album and a Les Paul on the second. The tone on Heartbreaker is a dead giveaway for me. It is what I believe.
@@vicprovost2561 From 1970 on he played the LP Live, but still used the tele on a lot of recordings in studio -Stairway a prime example - the solo was a telecaster..anyway, it all sounds good to me, regardless of manufacturer. We may never know, but we'll always have the music. PEACE.
Led Zeppelin had a lot of great and well known songs. This one, according to the book Hammer of the Gods: The Led Zeppelin Saga, Robert Plant wrote the lyric reflecting on his affair with his wife's younger sister.
To my understanding the song was about forbidden love. When Plant attended court on drugs charges prior to Led Zeppelin, one of young women with him was his wife Maureen's little sister Shirley. She was about 14, the "what should never be". The song Thank You on the same album was about Maureen who was the breadwinner while Plant struggled to become a professional singer. Many years later after his divorce from Maureen, Plant would father a child with Shirley.
I love birds too, I have a Lovebird, a Cockatiel and 2 parakeets inside and 100s of birds outside incuding a family of Cardinals. I love taking care of the birds here in Pittsfield MA.
I know something about figuring out rhythms or beats as well. It’s a bit more of a challenge with a band like Rush with all the shifting time signatures going on, but Neil Peart was a master craftsman of a drummer who could play these meters in such a way that people were unaware that he was playing in an odd time signature. Rush is a very interesting band on many different levels, lyrics included. It would be great if you could play anything off of Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures or Signals. I just found your channel and it’s so great. Your mentioning of mean people in the comments stuns me as I can’t understand how anyone could be mean to you.
Hi Sarah Rae.... so many songs so little time.... so this song would be deep in my top 10 for Zep... great to see you reacting to it!!! so maybe PLEASE check out a song by them called "10 Years After"... but besides that i have a personal and special request for/from you... i know you dont owe me a thing and i get that this may seem weird.... but could you please react to a Queen song called... "Spread Your Wings" its off of the album... QUEEN... " News of the World " but on the intertubes im sure you could just pull it right up.... its a great song... i promise you wont be disappointed and im sure you will hold it in HIGH regard after listening to it.... i appreciate all you do... ty for your channel.... ✌🏼😎
You seem to que in on the significance of Jimmy's guitar...what you hear in his playing,it's his guitar interpretation of his emotions thru his guitar....50yrs of listening to zep, still makes me cry ....it doesn't matter which song you listen to, purely emotional experience....good luck finding that experience elsewhere....to get a true taste of their talents as a band....listen to "you shook me" play it as loud as you can...hit me back and lete know how you felt
I just discovered you. I see it's been a year since you've explored Led Zeppelin. You should delve back into their catalogue. They are amazing. I recommend you check out the studio recording of the song "Since I've Been Loving You". And like you did with this one, I recommend sticking to the studio recordings for all of their songs. Zeppelin were very improvisational, and the songs would often change from night to night, often with long improvisational jams in the middle, and if you're not into long improvisational jams, then stick with the original studio recordings. They'll give you a much better understanding and appreciation for the songs, and they just sound so much better. …your next video, we’ll see only the soles of your shoes because you’re gonna be so far down the rabbit hole there’s almost no getting out! Tell your "production" team to stop being so cheap and buy some new earphones. Chameleon is becoming one together that's what I think it is, the energy was blah blah. Edit: Hang on I just came back so I could production in speech marks.
Production team? It's all me. Also, you can hate my headphones all you want, but they are noise canceling and really good. Finally, who watches a reaction to pay so much attention to one's headphones. A bunch got mad when I didn't have a pair, and now you are mad at the pair I have. It dont change what you hear as I said when I didn't have a pair. Stop caring over minor things that are irrelevant to the reaction itself.

SINCE I've BEEN LOVING YOU
My favorite band of all time.who else could play blues, jazz and rock in one song.
One of the under-appreciated gems from Zeppelin. I love the dynamics and the almost freestyle verse that Plant throws in at the end.
Zeppelin wrote the blueprint for countless others to follow and all four of them were incredible innovators. This is one of my favorite songs off of the second album, so thanks for delving a little deeper, love the channel!
The brown bomber my favorite with the 3 ,phisical graffitty and presence
Evoking majesty with mastery 😮 seems like you "get it". Nice to know that happiness radiates from 55-year old vinyl & the young are often astute.
I grew up hearing them through my mom so the rock side of me is all my dad but country, the bee gees, temptations, the oldies, Michael jackson, is all my mom.
Best reaction I've seen for this incredible track, you really get it.

Really enjoyed watching you feel your way through the song, most just listen. Excellent job!
7:02 Jazz chords, psychedelic space, Zep Pez sugar candy RnR. Page's production/amped guitar, feels like youre right there.
Song still hits hard
The girl i love got long black wavy hair😊 got your attention. Its a led zep song you need to give it a try🤘❤️and then travelling riverside blues
Always loved this song.
Great reaction. Great analysis! Well well done!!!!
More Zeppelin please!!!
I think the difference today is back in 60s/70s it was all about giving the fan's total commitment never ever about the money to be earned
GREAT analysis!!!
Thank you!!! Much love.
GREAT bassline on this!

That book was bunk because of Richard Cole's animus towards the band

What the song is about is Robert plant was dating a girl but he fell deeply in love with her underage sister so it was not to be.
