      There are comparable musicians, albeit very few for each. But to have top line talent across the board like this in one band is remarkable. I have always thought Zep was the greatest band of musicians ever assembled. All respect to the Hendrix’s, Moon’s, Squires’ and Morrison’s out there in different bands.

    • @sicotshit7068

      @@robertmoraga1501 there are other good musicians, & good bands, none that compare with these four especially together.

    • @uosuaq
      @uosuaq 3 місяці тому +2

      @@robertmoraga1501 I like to compare them to the Stones, who (with the possible exception of the drummer) were none of them standouts, either with their instruments or vocals, and I guess maybe by 1960s standards some of them were good looking...then...and yet, put them all together and they are frequently magic. Not "best + best + best+ best" magic, though.

    Great, uninhibited reaction - two remarkable things about Led Zeppelin II (I still have my original copy), upon which this song appeared: first, the album was released only ten months after their eponymous first effort, and second, it was, essentially, recorded and mixed "on the fly" in various studios while LZ was touring in both the US and Europe. It really showcases Jimmy Page's producing talents; he obviously learned a thing or twenty about record production doing all the studio session work for other artists in the years leading up to the formation of LZ. The best thing he learned was to make the band's studio sound match (as close as possible) what the musicians produced on stage; the effect was stunning - especially in 1969 when stereo equipment was beginning a great leap forward from cumbersome consoles to separate elements (receiver, speakers, record player, etc.). And the sequencing? This song after "Whole Lotta Love" on side one? Incredible.
    I do have to take issue with your post-listening comments about LZ's "superiority" when it comes to mood-improvement and excitement: for a lot of people who grew up with this music (as I did), other acts and albums were just as powerful, acts whose music has not reached you as much. IF you wish to continue your '60s-'70s education, Jimi Hendrix and The Who deserve some listening time and reactions. For Jimi, "Johnny B. Goode" from "Hendrix in the West," "Voodoo Child" from "Live at Woodstock," and "Message of Love" from "Band Of Gypsies." For The Who, "Young Man Blues" from "Isle of Wight" (it's a video, too), "Bargain" and "Behind Blue Eyes" from "Who's Next," and "The Real Me" from "Quadrophenia." Hendrix and The Who got rolling a few years before LZ appeared on the scene (and Jimi was gone by autumn 1970) and reacting to them will demonstrate to you the rich breadth of classic rock bands in that era. For those of us who were young then, it was an embarrassment of riches. Thanks again for a wonderful reaction. You two rock!

    This is a good example of one of the songs that Robert started becoming an expert using the compression on his voice to level the whispers with the screams. Making it feel like he is right next to your head singing. Compression was a studio application that became prevalent in the late 60s and 70s. Today, it is a very common effect to level dynamics.

    • @mikefetterman6782
      @mikefetterman6782 3 місяці тому

      at the end, Robert is "skatting". Long before rap, (big band era) that style of "bee boppa lula," "Boppe ooohh mou mou, boppa oooh mou mou", even the famous "Skat man" Caruthers, who would skat and "scuff" dance on stage in the old Vaudeville era of music theater. It is a jazz/big band improv. In 1970 when this was released, rap wasn't started yet. Rap came later from the Funk/disco era in Brooklyn and the Bronx. Mostly just on street corners, and small dance clubs. It took Blondie's Rapture in 1981, Run Dmc in 1985, and the Beastie Boys in 1986 to get rap started (Def Jam Records, the first rap label, was started in 1986 on the backs of the Beastie Boys and Run Dmc.) They discovered acts like LL Cool J and paid homage to their unheard of idols like Curtis Blow, Spoonie G, and the Furious Five and got their idols material out into public. The Beastie boys were to rap and hip hop, what Elvis was for rock. They absorbed it from their local culture and then were able to spread it worldwide, not in spite of their peers of a different color, but in honor of them.
