Toby, how about you give them a picture instead of a mechanical drawing! Forces them to convert, import, trace, etc. That would be very interesting.

I use solidworks. I would have use swept boss command and extrude for the bosses, hole command for the holes, chamfer and radius command. I would newer think of using shell but I would like to know about shell command.

Just finished this one in solidworks in about 10 minutes, it was much more creative than the other example problems so far and required me to make a duplicate shape, then use the offset command, then use combine and subtract to make those ridges, I probably could have used shell but the offset command worked well and I got 403.92 grams
