For me the most eye catching part of the interview is how deliberate and considered Dr Peterson is in his answers. It is amazing to see an influential person in public unafraid of a silent pause, the cardinal sin of modern media, to consider his answer and deliver it in a coherent and articulate manner, if only our Leaders behaved with a fraction of that level of awareness, where would our various communities, societies, nations and humanity in general be today?
And how refreshing would it be if a political leader were to pause in consideration of a response and then utter what should be the most often used phrase of any intelligent, honest person, "I don't know." Though surely the sky would fall.

The psychopaths have worked for decades to dumb down people through 'education' and 'culture' via mass media. So now they don't hide at all: they know the general population is very dumb as they have created their morality, their intellect, their analytical abiliry, their psychology. For a critical thinker point of view the world of the mass psychology makes no sense: it don't follow the rules of reason, nor the rule of interest. It follows the rules of conditionning by ivan pavlov and skinner. People are animals and have been tamed.

@@michaeldoolan7595, any job done as it should be in the first place is excellent. An interviewer's job is to ask questions and let the interviewee answer without unnecessary interruptions. It's rare these days. Most interviewers want to speak more than the interviwees and appear smart. So, yes, this gentleman did an excellent job as an interviewer.
An excellent conversation between a journalist with integrity and a desire to have an honest dive into the thoughts of a truly intelligent man. No sniping, no snide attempts at trying to get a sound bite or gotcha, well done Steven, I've seen some of your other interviews which were all positive. Dr Peterson is such and interesting man who's positively affected the lives of many, it's a great shame that certain people try to paint him as a demonic figure when it's so far from the truth. Great thinkers like Dr Peterson should be lauded and not lambasted.
The reason the interviewer is so good is that he asks a good question, but then understands the answer so that he can ask a good follow-up question. Repeatedly.
Every minute of this interview is delightful. Intellectual, nuanced, and original, both Jordan Peterson and Steven Edginton were absolutely phenomenal. Along the way, JP even made me question my own character and mindset. It's a political interview but it actually addresses so much more. Notably, JP uses psychology to address political issues with an enthusiastic desire to candidly dive into complex questions. Teaching us about history, society, the philosophy behind political movements, the way evil politicians manipulate well-meaning people, and linking it to biblical stories & values, his viewers are given the opportunity to break through the poison machine in favour of meaningful reflection on the state of the world.
"...made me question my own character and mindset." I can't stress how refreshing it is to see this kind of open talk. I've also read and seen things recently that have had the same effect on me. It seems that most people would rather have their own views affirmed and be incorrect or immoral, than have them shattered and find the truth.
I am amazed. This is probably the first good journalist in a while to come from the mainstream. I would have subscribed to the Telegraph, but then I saw their unhinged and non-verified claims against the Sound of Freedom. Please hire more journalists like Steven Edginton all across.
Oh please do be quiet. This chorus of online softies who want journalists to simply ask soft questions and not challenge guests on anything is so boring.
Simply because it is a war of good versus evil and the evil is becoming extremely easy to see, it is highly likely that more people are awakening to what is happening. I have seen this coming for a very long time and I am not alone by any means. What we have been saying for a very long time is finally happening in the view of all who seek the truth. The foolish people who are being manipulated like the sheep to the slaughter will be the first ones to speak up for their evil deeds and they will be the first people to be taken to justice.

Steven Edginton is one of the finest interviewers of our times. Look how much he got out of Peterson in this interview! Truly expansive, revealing and worthwhile.
This is a wonderful interview on both sides. I'm sure that Dr. Peterson was very proud of the way Steven was able to ask pertinent questions and followups. There is hope.

This was Jordan at his most upmost excellence it was truly a beautiful interview. Completely natural and the vibe this interview gives off is a harmonious metaphor for the words in context. It was quite poetic how the spoken words matched the calm visual of an older man with a grey beard giving simplistic truth to a younger man in a natural peaceful setting. The truth was all around them yet because humans have the capacity to communicate though vibrations the complexity of language was just broken down by Jordan into simplicity and truth and then back again into the backdrop and the visual of the two men and what that represented and round and round it went.
I love how Jordan Peterson effortlessly narrates Biblical stories without being heavy or preachy and weaves them into modern day scenarios to make a valid and referenced point that everyone can follow, irrespective of their beliefs.
@@ashtimbogI agree. Jordan is over-insisting on using the Bible stories in EVERY example. 🤷 I get it - he's trying to make a (stubborn ^^) point of the Bible's primacy by doing that; but his communication fluency towards most people suffers because of it. 🙃 I do not say this lightly - I want Jordan to be better understood. ❤

Wow - I think the Dostoevsky quote of "Every man is not only responsible for what he does but what everyone else does" is pure genius for those who can grasp the concept. It forces us to consider every consequence of every decision and action large or small. For example: Tribalism and wars only ever happen if we (each of us) allow differences to be amplified to the point of hatred and mistrust then allow psychopathic leaders into power that leverage that division into conflict. Clearly we are responsible and our elected "politicians" take that to the next level.

An excellent interview. So nice to have intelligent questions and adequate time for the interviewee to expound their views. No wonder alternative media are thriving for this quality is now completely absent from our TV screens.
Also his stuff about the British Empire and slavery is skewed to completely wrong. The abolitionist movement was massively popular among common people, it was the British ruling class who supported slavery and resisted any move towards emancipation because so many of them owned interests in America and the Carribean (hello David Cameron). They relented to banning the slave trade after they lost America because it relieved some of the pressure they faced at home and they believed it would strategically harm America (it didn't really). When they eventually banned it completely they made exceptions for the British East India company. Sure it is true that there were heroic English people who dedicated their lives to end the slave trade in the Americas etc. but it was the British Empire that set it up and benefitted hugely from it so the nation-state is not heroic given that it caused the problem in the first place and became immensely wealthy as a result.
It was the Africans who sold the Europeans the slaves in the first place. Without that joint-cooperation, it wouldn't have been possible to conduct the slave trade as effectively. And also let's not forget who owned the ships.
@@rumeunner3245 Exactly. Europeans turned up at the markets and bought slaves from the African traders. It was a way of getting rid of rival tribes in disputed territories and making a profit.

I am so thankful that Jordan came out of this debacle with a stronger conviction and the knowledge that everything he done was on the side of righteousness. Not everyone can be a dissident/contrarian. If that was case, nothing would ever get done. Discussion and compromise has to exist. Don’t be dissident to authority just for the sake of it.
@@matthewedwards8576 Sure, not everyone SHOULD be a dissident in EVERY situation; the point is that everyone should have the ABILITY (freedom) to do so without being crushed by the state or the culture at large.

My Nephew who is studying to become a Doctor was invited watch a recent football match against Chelsea, during half time he said to his friend that Chelsea were playing like a bunch of rent boys. His remark was overheard by a Chelsea Marshal who beckons to another near by Marshal and after a brief discussion they approached my nephew and escorted him from the ground, he explained that he was speaking to his friend only, he did not shout the words out, nor were his words meant to be heard by anyone other than his friend. The Marshals reported my nephew to the police and a few days later he was summoned to his local police station to answer for his ‘crime’ He was told to expect a banning order and receive a number of hours of work in the community. I do not believe it is an offense for two friends to describe their opponents as playing like a bunch of rent boys but because a third party over heard the words and may have taken offense, it now is a crime. The chanting which was prevalent during the match from both groups of supporters was, to say the least, offensive but not threatening but no action was taken. Both Marshals claimed to have heard the words although it would have been near impossible for the second Marshal to have heard the comment. Is this really how degraded our freedom of speech has become?

IDK about that. I think he needed to interject his own opinion more often. He didn't control the narrative at all. I'll bet he won't have a job for long.
He speaks truth and answers without filters, many of his answers are not sugar coated, nor to appease his audience. Yet stimulates us into seeing things for their reality. Extremely educational and informative informative.
I agree, except for his explanations of religions. He sugar coats religion into a simply psychological pursuit. Religion is not simply a psychological pursuit, and the stories in the scriptures don’t merely have some far removed psychological implication. They are spiritual stories, fundamentally.

I think he's a fruitcake that got easy questions from a biased interviewer.
I believe so..
What a lovely surprise the interviewer, Steven Edginton turned out to be in this interview. This is my first exposure to him. He is a very thoughtful, well read and open interviewer who allows his interviewee to express themselves clearly without the need to score points off them. This is one of the best Jordan Peterson interviews I have seen and gave me so much to consider. Bravo.
Good eye ! Truth ! Stay alert ! Peace.
IDK about that. I think he needed to interject his own opinion more often. He didn't control the narrative at all. I'll bet he won't have a job for long.

23 years old. Encouraging
He speaks truth and answers without filters, many of his answers are not sugar coated, nor to appease his audience. Yet stimulates us into seeing things for their reality. Extremely educational and informative informative.
He is biased and not fully based, though.
I agree, except for his explanations of religions. He sugar coats religion into a simply psychological pursuit. Religion is not simply a psychological pursuit, and the stories in the scriptures don’t merely have some far removed psychological implication. They are spiritual stories, fundamentally. Not merely psychological

Best few hours on the entire internet, by far.
Phenomenal interview. Well done Telegraph for giving JBP a fair shake. 👏
This past year has been a version of hell for my family and I and at times I was definitely seduced by the allure of bitterness. My natural predisposition to place blame on everything external while resisting my own responsibility became very apparent to me. Due to the suffering I've experienced because of the trauma I've endured my view of myself and those around me was at an all time low and much like Dr Peterson, if I had an off-switch I wouldn't have hesitated. I say all that to say this...
Only The Lord knows how perfect the timing was for me to come across this insightful interview. JP just has a way of articulating himself that honestly fills me with a refreshed sense of hope despite my tumultuous circumstances. God bless this man and his message which continues to build up those who are broken!

OMG, every sentence JBP utters is a GEM of wisdom! Someday, his collected writings and spoken words will be revered and studied, like Confucius, Sun Tsu, Aristotle, Ayn Rand, and every other towering intellect in human history. Just, WOW.
I appreciate Dr. Peterson's psychological and logical communication. His emotional maturity and emotional intelligence are also a breath of fresh air.

My goodness man, the amount of knowledge this man posses and how he is able to remain so current with his finger on the pulse of what is happening is astonishing. If I try to investigate just one thing, there are any number of layers of the truth that has to be slashed through. I enjoy listening to those who have shown a propensity for honesty as a way of being. Peterson seems to be humble in his understanding of things and when he doesn't know, he admits it and doesn't try to tell a side without investigation. But maybe this is what this guy is calling to.
I can see why he would refer to this as "intellectually dishonest" in a way. But to think of it that way also is very elementary and totally excludes the fact that the topic is extremely nuanced and complex.
