The most frustrating thing about these types of interviews is that the interviewer has no genuine interest in understanding JBP and his views. That’s why I prefer people like Joe Rogan or Dave Rubin who have a genuine curiosity about the people they interview.

I feel you dude but personally I'm unsure about Joe Rogan from what I've seen. I’ve noticed multiple instances of him not even trying to understand where his guests are coming from. He also didn’t seem to understand that people aren’t, on the spot, always able to say things in the exact spirit of what they mean. That kind of lack of understanding seems, to me, to be the temperament of someone who’s far more dismissive than they are curious. I’ve heard from people that he’s improved over time though so maybe I’ve just coincidentally seen his bad talks amongst an ocean of good ones, I'm open to that.

It's important to not target a person. Rather the ideas their putting forth. Therefore it's positively critical to restate the idea to insure that one is truly arguing the idea. Jordan Peterson has long argued he will build up an opposing idea as strong as he can to pay it respect before taking it on. In this way no one can say he didn't give the devil his due.

It's not just this interview, seems to be loads of media outlets were they send him up against a woman who does not want to listen and then fails to make basic assumptions that would be common place in normal conversation, like thinking that serial harassers are vomit inducing. To be fair though that last point mainly connects to that fact that these women are expecting literal Hitler to come to the interview, not the most mild mannered Canadian dad of the internet.

Scott Ferguson True. Despite not really caring for Russell Brand, he gave EXACTLY what a proper interview consists of; questions that allow the person to dissect and explain what they mean, ask for elaborations, ACTUALLY LISTENING to the elaborations, approach the interview as if the person has something to teach you, don’t project, offer healthy criticism, play devil’s advocate when needed, etc.. She seems to be disagreeing just for the sake of disagreement without offering anything concrete to combat JP’s citations of well-established studies. As an interview, it sucks. But for the 4,000 “JP Destroys....” videos/week, it’s another goldmine.

The trick is to realize and accept a fundamental truth no matter how revolting or unfair:
Good people have to play by different rules than bad people. Same rules don't apply to everybody. Evil people will taunt, mock, bully, provoke and all manner of immoral and uncivil behavior, in the attempt to get you to their level, where they can drag you through the mud. NOBODY will condemn them for that behavior, but will crucify you if you accept the challenge. They want to change the subject, no matter the debate, to how inappropriate YOU are, because they don't posses the truth or the facts and they know it. DONT LET THEM! DONT BE TEMPTED TO RETALIATE. No one will care who started it, and they will blame you, ALWAYS. It's hard, but if you keep your cool and stick to the subject, it actually becomes a lot more satisfying and productive, not only because you win the argument, but because this is what pains them the most. They are getting cancer while watching you destroy their rhetoric with facts, while their impotent attacks glance off you like toy arrows off tanks.

I met JP last month in Cincinnati (after an entire year of waiting). I've never been happier in my life. As soon as it was my turn to get a picture with him for the "meet and greet", anxiety hit me hard. It's so weird meeting someone you admire. I've listened to every one of his debates, speeches, and audio books, and he's genuinely changed my life. Anyways, it was my turn to walk up to him for a picture and I got major butterflies. I looked at him and choked up a little. I said "my heart is pounding so hard. You are my personal hero Dr. Peterson."
He smiled, looked into my eyes, and asked what my name was. I told him and he shook my hand and said "It's a pleasure to meet you, Peter."
His speech that night was incredible, insightful, and downright beautiful. The man radiates warmth, kindness, and compassion. I'm so glad I got a chance to meet the person I admire most in this world. He genuinely makes me want to become my best self.

Even if the average is the same, a higher standard deviation means that men will be grossly overrepresented three standard deviations out on both sides of the distribution. Dr. Peterson is probably the most misunderstood man walking earth. My initial analysis is that it must be exhausting to continually be on the defense; however, after some thought it might not be as strenuous because he doesn’t have to remember to play a character. He simply shows up as himself, and shares information he’s learned over decades of study. People don’t realize he RARELY EVER gives his personal opinion on anything (unless he’s persistently asked to share), his thoughts are based off scientific data and research. I’m always inspired after hearing him speak, God bless you Dr. Peterson!

7 reasons why I already admire Jordan Peterson and I just discovered him last week
Jordan Peterson makes being smart attractive!!
    1.A good teacher
Jordan Peterson is very intelligent ,he has the ability to take complex subjects and turn them into digestible, easily understandable information not to mention that he uses regular stories, the Bible and movies and different religions as examples
    2.A great orator (Articulate/Assertive)
He is very articulate , a great story teller in deed! one can listen to him for hours , I don't remember the last time I was excited to listen/watch an interview.
He is very assertive, he knows how to get his point across and he alligns his words so well that if you would cut off the interviewer part his answers perfectly follow up ... just as if it was a speech .
    3.Great composure/patience
Anyone in their right mind would attack the interviewer not Jordan Peterson, I think he has a perfect mind that's how he can stand her, keep calm, even think about his answers ,and to some questions that I thought were pure mischaracterisation and that he shoud decline to answer ... nonetheless he answered ... so much respect to you Mr Peterson !
    4.His compassion
his compassion and ability to show empathy and emotions when necessary.
He cares about the individual ,his/her progress and that's how you know if he met you he would value you, #you matter # you are important# you don't have to come as a group to get my attention# I can see you
True, we may have similar experiences but our copying mechanisms are different ,our challenges are different
So it's important to be seen as an individual, to be encouraged to improve ,that's how one can feel valuable and since we are social beings we tend to share, we spread both negativity and positivity so that's how you start a cycle of goodness, hardwork, selfrespect....and more
Basically teach me how to catch a fish and I'll do it myself next time.
Not deliver fishes to me so I can be codependent and lose self respect because I am incapable of taking care of myself and I can't live without you.
And by the way a strong group is usually comprised of strong individuals, a good team is usually comprised of good players there's no other way around it.
One cannot aspire to the well being of the group while neglecting the individual.
    5.His confidence/courage
Jordan Peterson is so confident that he is not afraid to say the truth he stands for what he believes in ,he defends his ideas regardless the discomfort it may cause and that's very courageous
    6.His humility
Not only does he give examples about his own shortcomings but something else that's very fascinating about him is that regardless everything he knows that the majority if not all of his listeners or even average people don't know he has the humility of saying something most of us are ashamed of saying which is I don't know..
    7.His good looks
I think I might be wrong that Jordan Peterson is the kind of handsome man who probably doesn't have a clue he is or who probably is even surprised people mention it but I'm glad to say I'm not the only non-feminist woman who says that ,He is very handsome indeed! and his calmness just takes it to another level
So I would say Jordan Peterson is a perfect & imperfect man , listening to him definitely teaches me alot , I am becoming smart overnight!
    So thank you!

Among the 12 rules for life - IF a cat comes up to on the street, pat it.
I do that without have read this book. It's a wonderful feeling, actually. A friendly soul, small and vulterable, comes up and gives you affection, greets, implicitly trusts you etc. It's enough to make my heart melt.
One such cat came into my garage. She was emaciated, with long matted gray fur, but with big and alert eyes. I was leaving the garage and she walked with me. I went out by the side door, closed it, and then she stopped. She turned around and slunk into a hole in the siding. Each day after that, I put out a bowl of chicken, and later proper cat food. My little "ghost" came out to greet me every morning outside the garage, and ate her food. Then one morning she came out with three tiny little kittens, and presented them to me. After that, I took mom and her babies into my family. There she and her kittens lived out their lives. We have one of those kittens left. He is now almost 16 years old. It all started with a lost and desperate soul trusting me with her life, and it lead to so much joy. Follow the rule, and pat a strange cat if it comes up to you. If you are able, adopt it.

Granted I haven't seen all interviews with Peterson and others, and yes, it is a generalization that all his interviews with women have been with shrews. Also I do think he has brilliant answers. But I wrote my comment more out of frustration that so far all the female hosts that I've seen interview him so far seem to come into the interview not to engage him, but rather it seems like they want to gotcha him or destroy him instead. Plenty of male hosts (cough, vice) have tried to do that too, but from my limited view, I've at least seen more male hosts try to give him a chance, less see from female hosts. It probably doesn't need saying, this is not a reflection on women being "b*tches" -- rather I think it's more of a reflection of the women (and men too, to be fair) who are in media and what kind of ideology they subscribe to.

Peterson's point was that women on average in the wider world tend to attack reputation because physical aggression is not an option to them. For all those who think anne was trying to trap him, she was not. She was very very professional and she asked him all the questions the radical left want to trap him with BUT she gave him ample opportunity to defend himself. This never happens in his debates. You get guys like Michael Erik Dyson having to interrupt and straw man him the entire time. She did very well in interviewing him and she asked the questions that we want to hear him defend. He aced the test and she made it difficult. But she respected his answers. Well done and I would love to see her interview more people rather than say Don Lemon or anyone from the BBC.

Living legend, a truly masterful orator. I'm also pleased with the "women are not a minority" rebuttal. As a black man i'm sick of these autocrat sugar spun white women using my people and other less "empowered" demographics to prop up their narrative. Don't use me as a flail to beat white men over the head, your maniacal feminist delusions can't detract from the millennium of playing Rapunzel. White men have coddled and infantilised you at their own expenses. There are women worldwide who genuinely face tumultuous circumstances. Your plight is sucking some director off for a two million dollar acting gig. Not comparable, just narcissism.😕

Ryan Lewis While I get the fact that it's good to see the word 'minority' not being used outside of the actual proper definition, please be sure not to dive into identity politics in pointing that out. Your point would have been just as valid had you not been a black man yourself. You're an individual first and foremost, and not defined by the color of your skin or the fact you happen to be part of a minority group. You're just like the rest of us, and deserve all respect, like the rest of us.

Jason Carto completely understandable to feel te urge to do that. But by playing the idenitity politics card you're actively stimulating polarization. Again, I get where you're coming from, but the only way to combat identity politics or it's even more evil twin racism, is to not make that differentiation yourself. Your arguments should validate themselves.
