Umm, it’s the same clasp as the Erebus Origin and a number of AliX watches selling for 10% of the price of this watch….not sure how much thought went into it from Squale. Is the clasp titanium?
@@StandAloneState it doesn’t, I just think there are better clasps if you are going third party for the price of the watch. But yep, good on em for responding, even if it’s with a cheaper clasp.
This is why TGV is so well respected in “OUR” watch community. You literally have your logo on this watch brand and still had the “balls” (for lack of a better word”) to critique the watch. I don’t think watch brands realize how valuable your watch reviews can be. Dare I say, your reviews are Gospel? As always, thank you for what you do. I love your videos. Great video. The editing and script rivals the content. 2 things. 1) you are nicer than me. I totally layed into them for that clasp! 2) it was written on Wikipedia a few years ago that I was the brand owner of Squale! 😂
TGV - Thank you for being a complete inspiration to me. Since "trying" to start my own channel, I have come to realize just how talented at storytelling and making sure whatever timepiece you are covering gets it's due diligence. Seriously it's not easy. Especially in an environment where UA-camrs now really only care about what gains popularity on the algorithm. Keep it up mate! Cheers 💪

TGV, I am a Philly guy and I was heartbroken to see you move away! I recently got in to temple university’s law school and to celebrate I bought myself a super squale, which I love dearly. I only wish the handset was brushed to match the finish of the rest of the watch! Otherwise, it is absolutely perfect. Thank you for exposing me to this brand years ago. Best of luck in New York!
I have watched this video several times since its release, always with appreciation. Due to a smoking' deal from Mark (Long Island Watches), it was one of the reasons why yesterday, I purchased my first Squale watch (the limited edition Marina Militare 1521). Obviously, many reasons for the purchase, but I DO hope Squale realizes that actions such as they took with the Squale Master Titanium based on real reviews DOES make a difference and results in purchases such as mine. Thanks for being an honest voice of review. Un abbraccio, mi fratella!
The reason I've kept watching your videos for a few years now and subscribed in the first place . Your passion , yet honesty and integrity is a class above many . No big dramas like so many other watch channels seem to love , and the fact you don't just review stuff most can't afford . Keep up the great work TGV .
Thank you TGV for such an honest review and insight into Squale. Very much appreciated from a happy owner of a 1545 Black. I love Squale and I first heard about the brand from you. Well if it wasn’t for your channel, I would never have found out about Squale and learned to truly appreciate the brand.
I'm a big Squale fan and TGV, you are partly the reason why. I'm not interested in the Master but very interested and wound up buying a Marina Militare just before my birthday, and love that particular watch. I'm not a bracelet guy so even if did pick up a Master, it wouldn't be on a bracelet for long.
TGV, your passion for this hobby is inspiring. It’s what got me into being a true collector & not just a casual observer of nice watches. Your honesty matters. Just because someone might be critical over some aspects of certain watches, doesn’t mean you don’t like it, or that brand. Keep doing, what you’re doing because we enjoy it. Love the channel.
That was one of the most surprising things I’ve seen on UA-cam in a while. A Brand actually received constructive criticism and didn’t respond with a nuclear middle finger. Wow… excellente Squale! Now in their defense, I don’t think a butterfly clasp is akin to pigeon droppings, but I completely understand the sentiment. 🐦. Thanks for another wonderful episode. Ciao!
The clasp looks exactly like the San Martin clasp, down to the two screws on the side of it. This might be the answer to an astonishing achievement of making this change so quickly.
Generally speaking I really enjoyed this video, it's insightful and interesting even more than usual. However I can tell you that 99.99% of Italians have never heard about Squale, I'm not talking about watch enthusiasts but just regular people who know very well the most common watch brands. Moreover, Squale is one of those "Italian" words created abroad that make literally no sense in Italian as you well know (squalo=singular / squali=plural), so for that reason only Squale will always be a difficult brand to sell in Italy in my opinion. Great to see that they listened to your review though, honestly what you said at the time made a lot of sense. Careful with those Italian watch reviewers, I understand the nostalgia factor but the language barrier made irreparable damages in the past decades and this won't be fixed in our lifetime.
Thank you Mr. TGV. I credit you for introducing me to Squale. I would never have known about it if it weren't for you. I got so enamored with the brand that I bought one on a recent trip to Amsterdam (BTW - huge thanks to the Amsterdam Watch Store for a fantastic purchasing experience). I purchased a Super Squale Sunray Grey - fantastic design, fit, and value). Thanks again for publishing wonderful watch-related content. It's your "fault" as well as Teddy Baldassare (in a positive light) that I became entrenched in the watch-collecting hobby. 😁 PS - Regards to Hugo.
The Squale Blue is IMHO the most iconic color to watch brand for watch enthusiasts. It’s recognizable from across the street and attracts the eye in a good way like no other color to watch combination.
I have the new 1521 Marina Militaire limited edition and it is the most elegant of the 1521s. I really like the orange sub-minute markers and accents on the bezel and strap. The watch is a beauty!
I've considered adding a Squale to my collection for so long, it may finally be time. Troubled releases aside, their brand heritage and their iconic models are absolute 🔥!
After recently purchasing my grail, I told myself, NO more watches”! This video is melting my resolve. Inspiring to hear that a company has integrity. And the Squale 1521 is so beautiful….
Squale have reacted positively to constructive criticism. Quite a compliment in a bizarre manner these brands won't deal with your genuine opinions. Surely you'd want to listen and improve your product from reviewing genuine feedback even if negative.
I'm so impressed with Squale for listening to your opinion and doing something to remedy it,they have certainly proved themselves to be one of the better watchmakers 😊 have a great weekend TGV😊
Wow, what an incredible video!! That guy in Long Island already mentioned the editing (Captain Picard to Busta Rhymes to Caravaggio?!? Nice video. I’ve never understood the ire towards Squale. The derogatory label zombie brand has always seemed unfair to me. In fact, I applaud the re-vitalizing of historic brands consistent with their legacy. Squale actually seems to be thriving compared to some others, which is great to see. All the best.
Kudos TGV on a great relationship with a great watch house. We can always count on you to keep your integrity and also engaging with houses that maintain the same ethics such as Squale. May have to bite the bullet on a piece from them soon ❤ cheers all
Thanks for sharing TGV. What a remarkable brand Squale are! It's great to see the mutual respectful and relationship that exists with yourself and this company. Squale really are becoming increasingly desirable to me and many others.
Awesome video!!!! Thanks for always being honest!!!! Glad to see that Squale cared enough and changed the clasp and sent you the new version!!!! This makes me even more impressed to own a handful of Squale watches!!!!
Great episode. Squale is a special brand. My take on LE's has softened in the last year or so, as I considered the relatively small number of watches many brands are making in total. They keep the standard lineup, and offer a rotating selection that changes annually or so. I think that's actually pretty cool as a collector, because it means there'll always be another Squale - or Grand Seiko especially - I've never seen, let alone owned. In the case of this year's MM LE, it looks too good for me to get cranky about it! What a watch!
The Squale Master looks like a hell of a watch! And Squale itself seems like a top-class company. I already own a 1521, but wouldn’t mind adding another Squale to the collection 😁
I love that Squale actually listens to criticisms and pivots quickly to improve on their designs! Great video as always! And don't forget about your Greek watch UA-camrs! Hahaha
Not a frequent commentor, but as an avid watch enthusiast I found this incident of awareness and responsiveness by Squale to be a bright light in the otherwise secretive and guarded world of watch producers. I have been a fan of this brand for awhile now, and am always keeping my eye out for a great deal on one. I appreciate the unusual, so my last Squale acquisition was a Corallo chronograph. Good on TGV for shedding light on this underappreciated manufacturerer. By putting in the extra effort to convey how Squale responded to an honest critique of their initial clasp design choice.... by replacing it with a correct dive clasp.... he has illustrated why this is a watchmaker to pay attention to. Great to have an "influencer" who tries not to get compromised by the "say nice things about us and we will give you a watch" youtube racket.
Thanks TGV for all that you do for the hobby. Because of you, I have great appreciation for the Squale brand and have two in my collection. This new video will equate to my third Squale, as soon as the gods and my wife allow!
Great video, sir. It is a clear example of how to conduct business in a genuine way. I also spot the owner and creator of Ichinos watches from Sardinia in the video. I hope we will soon have a review of one of his watches on this channel. Keep going!
Another fine video. I love my my 1545 ferrovia ceramic with it’s orange hand. I know they get some hate but I love it. Accurate to 5 seconds, cheap and gorgeous. How I like it.
This is still my favorite watch brand! It looks amazing. I have the Squale tropic 42mm I like it love to see you review that one. I wonder if squale made the case 5512 and 5513 for Rolex?
When a watch brand responds in such a fashion, you actually "feel" the passion, warmth and respect they have for their customers! It creates a real connection and a feeling that they're listening to their enthusiasts and they're looking after them! In a sometimes cold, corporate world of commities, lawyers and accountants, this is extremely refreshing! Squale has just gone up in my estimation. So has TGV. I didn't think that was possible! Onwards and upwards!
Your honesty is always appreciated, many watch reviewers have online stores and of course are biased. By the way, where is your 3 tier table lamp from? I absolutely love it!
I’d love for Squale to look at resurrecting some of their other cases. The 1537 case would be my pick. 38mm, 30 atmos, hooded lugs, no bezel, crown at 4… stunning little slab of steel.
I had unsubscribed after realizing I hadn’t watched any videos in quite some time. This popped up on my feed and it earned a resubscribe. Appreciate the work you put into the videos and the honesty.
If I were ever to start a watch brand, my first phone call would be to you, TGV. Sure, you would never take my call but that's beside the point. ;) Thanks for being so fair and honest with your reviews. Absolutely love your videos!!
TGV, I have to thank you for bringing the Universal Genève White Shadow to my attention!! It was almost serendipitous as I was looking at the Omega De Ville Ellipse style watch like yours but managed to pick up a manually-wound Cal.1-44 White Shadow horizontal on the integrated Milanese Mesh Bracelet for an amazing price...unfortunately/fortunately depending how you view it, I was persuaded to sell it just a week later for more than twice what I originally paid!! As gutted as I was to only spend a fleeting week with such a beautiful work of art, it has solidified my intention to trade up to the microrotored version instead which, if I'm honest, was always the dress watch I wanted but couldn't justify the £1000+ they're fetching when I'd only wear it on a few occasions a year!! 🎉
As always nice work TGV. I am waiting to receive my squale 1545 grey on bracelet next week. I have been wanting this watch for a year now and its finally coming. Cant wait.
The kind of good faith quiet action they took in response has such a positive memetic effect. The ignorant brands that send product and receive a poor review choose to blacklist because they only deal in quantifiable metrics. What Squale did results in something... immeasurable, and... pure class.
Great advice TGV! In fact, I think companies that sells commercial products should have an open attitude when it comes to feedback by paying consumers.
Bravo, TGV. Squale is my favorite diver watch brand. I feel you were on point with your critique. That's just love that you have for the brand. Moreover, what a testiment for Squale to listen to your advice and make the improvements. That says something the company and you. Meanwhile, I am enjoying my new daily driver: Squale 39 blue dial w/date timepiece. It's like heaven on my wrist.
I like the dial a lot on these. Just wish it was a no-date. This and the new Mido Oceanstar 39 are quite possibly the best value for money divers on the market right now
You've made a fan out of me. TBH I've never heard of the brand before your videos and now I'm already browsing their website and choosing the one I'll save up for. Great job.
Excellent video TGV! Glad they listened. I agree to many limited editions just feels like cheap cash grabs to me. When I buy a limited edition I do want it to be rare to an extent, not limited to 20000 pieces. Great vid as always
I've nearly bought a squale from island a couple of times but this has convinced me to make them my next watch purchase for sure. Instead of being insulted they stepped back took an honest look at your critique and made revisions. I just had my father-in-laws vintage buren 6005b chrono restored a couple of months back so it may be after the 1st of the year before I get a Squale. thanks for your reviews honesty and sense of humor. I enjoy your content.
Nice job once again mate. Wholeheartedly agree with your take on the current watch “reviewers” or should I say salespeople. It’s difficult to differentiate the two in this period. I view Squale as I do panerai. Both strong back stories but polarising at the same time. I have both and love that they are generally not embraced by the wider “watch community”. Like you love bucking the trends. Keep it up mate 💪
I think the first design was ok. Whenever I’ve used a diver for diving it goes onto rubber. No ‘divers’ extension I’ve used comes close to adding enough to accommodate a wet suit.
I need this 1521 Marina Militare in my life. The best looking 1521 probably ever. The newest Master ComSubin is the sexiest of all, but the size makes it difficult to wear full time. Tho true, with these 3, Squale has been busy with their "limited editions", but I hope they will take brake for a while now - as it is as TGV says, too many of them deteriorates the meaning and creditability.
Hats off to Squale on owning up to a bad decision on the bracelet by listening to the watch/review community , probably a lot of other companies would of dug the heels in just to see the watch not selling so well, maybe Squale should also teach Disney to listen to the reviewers ? Also agree with you on too many limited editions out there Omega is probably up there with all the limited watches. Wish you would name the watch brand that wanted you to bend over backwards for them
I don’t own a Squale yet but since watching your channel I have looked in to the brands history . This summer I was in Italy looked at panerai in Florence but my thoughts always returned to Squale , there is an Italian shark in my future I know that now
Love squale, i have the y1545 militare, wish they put a diver’s clasp with on the fly adjustment and some kind of integrated aspect at the lugs on the rubber strap on the 1521.
Gilt dials are difficult to pull off but Squale nailed that one. One of the best I’ve seen. Superb looking piece and a classy brand as well it seems. Bravo👏
Absolutely fantastic! The on the fly adjustable clasp is a game changer. I absolutely love Titanium watches and would have seriously considered buying this watch but the original clasp was unacceptable. With this clasp, this watch is now on my to buy list. Great review!
Man you have to hand Squale there flower's cheer's here is to brands that listen. Hugo's put a smile on my face love his cameo. It takes guts to take constructive and give you another sample and in a way have a face off.
Kudos to Squale for listening to constructive criticism.

Thanks for sharing TGV. What a remarkable brand Squale are! It's great to see the mutual respectful and relationship that exists with yourself and this company. Squale really are becoming increasingly desirable to me and many others.
I have always admired Squale timepieces. After watching this video, simply put, I MUST own one!
Great vid as always mate! Cudos to Squale for the changes too. I don't own one of their watches yet but they have my attention now 💯👌
Independent reviews or journalisms are rare species in ours days...
...sometimes even great brands could do mistakes and it's important to say it !
Awesome video!!!! Thanks for always being honest!!!! Glad to see that Squale cared enough and changed the clasp and sent you the new version!!!! This makes me even more impressed to own a handful of Squale watches!!!!
Your videos are like an exciting event unfolding! 👏
The quintessence I take from your video is that I have to learn Italian. 🙂 There are so many good italian UA-cam Channels.
Thank you, TGV 🙏
Great episode. Squale is a special brand. My take on LE's has softened in the last year or so, as I considered the relatively small number of watches many brands are making in total. They keep the standard lineup, and offer a rotating selection that changes annually or so. I think that's actually pretty cool as a collector, because it means there'll always be another Squale - or Grand Seiko especially - I've never seen, let alone owned. In the case of this year's MM LE, it looks too good for me to get cranky about it! What a watch!
The Squale Master looks like a hell of a watch! And Squale itself seems like a top-class company. I already own a 1521, but wouldn’t mind adding another Squale to the collection 😁
impressed with Squale response, will be seriously looking at this brand
Thanks for the upload TGV, always a pleasure watching. Onwards and upwards!
Thanks for e video! Good take on Squale, I’ll be going down to my local Squale to take a look at their collection.
I love that Squale actually listens to criticisms and pivots quickly to improve on their designs! Great video as always! And don't forget about your Greek watch UA-camrs! Hahaha
Thanks TGV, you are still my go to guy for watch advice; and this video eloquently demonstrates why.
This is possibly the most important watch video I’ve ever seen. Thank you. 🙏🏼
Great video, thank you. Squale was never really on my radar before, but it is now. Companies that listen to customers are rare.
When you opened up the Squale box at 9:02 I was really expecting there to be a glow like in Pulp Fiction 😂
It's nice to see Pulp Fiction turn into a classic over time. By the way you're right.
@@tyarnold4088 Pulp Fiction was a classic in a second when was released.
👏👏👏 Enjoy your 1545! Thank you for sharing that.
Best regards,
TGV
Long live Squale (i’d love to know who the blacklisted brands are!)
Squale is epic. Really great vid, TGV!
Hi TGV. Nice to see Jean-Luc. Good review as usual. Greetings to you and yours.
Appreciate the work you put into the videos and the honesty.
as ever a well put together episode fun and informative and about a brand youve worked with and highly regard .
How awesome is this!!! Squale takes an impressive listen and makes a thoughtful response. It just raises the brand so much higher IMHO.
I enjoy the entertainment provided by TGV the watch reviews are an added bonus. Keep it up TGV
I love Squale! It’s My favorite Great review Always be yourself man.
If I were ever to start a watch brand, my first phone call would be to you, TGV. Sure, you would never take my call but that's beside the point. ;) Thanks for being so fair and honest with your reviews. Absolutely love your videos!!
Well said. A little honesty and transparency goes a long way and all out open to criticism equals massive improvements when constructive.
Appreciate your honest thoughts TGV! Have a great weekend!
Another great video, sir, pure class! I simply cannot wait to get the 1521 ocean COSC.
Thanks for keeping it real and honest.
Great video as always, thank you for the actual independent watch journalism, it does make a difference.
I like the dial a lot on these. Just wish it was a no-date. This and the new Mido Oceanstar 39 are quite possibly the best value for money divers on the market right now
👏👏👏 Great choices, I still need to check out Video, but they have some strong designs recently.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentrydeff worth checking out. The new movement is a beast. It uses a Straumann-like titanium alloy hairspring.
As Seinfeld said, 'they're limited to as many as they can sell'
Is it just me or is that clasp the same one seen on San Martin, Proxima etc watches?
That Omega you have on suits you better than any watch I've ever seen you wear. That's THE watch for you, man!
This summer I was in Italy looked at panerai in Florence but my thoughts always returned to Squale , there is an Italian shark in my future I know that now
Excellent content as usual Tristano, keep it up!
Love squale, i have the y1545 militare, wish they put a diver’s clasp with on the fly adjustment and some kind of integrated aspect at the lugs on the rubber strap on the 1521.
9:15 That is the clasp of the Erebus Origin, the first watch created by Jody from the Just One More Watch UA-cam channel.
Thats also the clasp of thousands of other shitters 😅
I was really looking for differences, but you are right. But doesn’t all bracelets come from far east?🤷♂️
Great video brotha I need to add a Squale. Probably going with the Squale 101 Atmos pvd
Man you have to hand Squale there flower's cheer's here is to brands that listen. Hugo's put a smile on my face love his cameo. It takes guts to take constructive and give you another sample and in a way have a face off.
Squale embracing constructive criticism is a class act.
What is/are the brands he is talking about before 7:13?
Great stuff as always TGV! Would love to see John Goldberger on here
