Worst roommate story you’ve got 👇🏼
I used to live with 4 other people( 2 girls, and 1 couple). Our relationship with the couple started to crumble for multiples reasons.
Anyway, one day, one girl wanted to use the microwave but it wasn't working. She asked me if I knew why it had a problem, so we checked together. The cable was cut with a big kitchen knife. We asked to the girl (couple) why she did it.
Her reply ? "It's my microwave, I do whatever I want with !"
I literally nicknamed two horrible ex girlfriends spawn of Satan. The Spawn of Satan part 2 had 2 cats. Then in the middle of a movie we were watching she says she has three... yeah 3 cats qualifies as crazy cat lady...
It was winter and we turned the heat up a few. They came and put it down to 50 and it was freezing. Mind you we paid half of everything and we both had kids in the house. Temps in the minus but yes, freeze us all.
Not roommates as such, but I have 5 kids.. 4 are now teenagers. Every couple of days I have to go in each of their rooms to collect cutlery/plates/bowls/glasses etc....
it’s like a shopping trip to IKEA by the time I’ve got everything 🙄
Lived with what was once my BFF, then I came home from work and found her having sex with my BF, the day after the "love of her life" had to move to California... Now she's married to and supporting him, and I married his cousin, have 8 sons, 2 dogs, 2 cats, a bearded dragon, a small farm that looks like a park, and life is pretty darn good... Marry your best friend people. Someone you can tell anything to, do anything in front of and will defend you above and beyond. And appreciate them for it. :D
A got ill during my semester abroad and one evening, the woman living in the room next to mine knocked on my door and handed me a mug of peppermint tea because she heard me coughing my lungs out. That was so sweet.

That's so nice, definitely me as a neighbour 😅 I'm that neighbor that asks if you want stuff I'm otherwise donating or when I make snacks I make a tub for them as well. Whenever my daughter sizes up diapers or clothes I ask them if they need anything before we donate anything. They've got a lovely stash of diapers in a couple sizes from us giving them what we don't need :)

I lived in a sharehouse in Tokyo when I studied there and there were like 10 people sharing that house. One girl moved in and on her first day in the house she went to the fridge and grabbed EVERYTHING that had meat in it and tried to throw it out. We had individual baskets with our room numbers on so no one would get confused. But she went through each basket and put anything with meat in it on the kitchen table. When we asked what she was doing she said "I'm a vegetarian and I can't live in a house that has meat in it." So she basically wanted 9 other people to become vegetarian at home for her sake. We even had different sets of pans so that anyone who was vegetarian could use one that hadn't been used for meat. We reported it to the landlord and she was moved out three days later. Don't know what they said to her, but we saved our products and she was out. I respect people being vegetarian but taking it upon yourself to throw other people's food out when it was not only in closed containers but also in their own individual baskets is just insane.

I am in the process of becoming a vegetarian too, but I could never do something like that. I can't believe there are people like this '_'
LOL was she Indian? I lived in a Hindu household, for my grandma, if we touched used utensils (as in put in our mouths) on the surface as clean food, it became "untouchable" or "unclean" and had to be thrown out. So, I can understand it. It's not cool. But it could be a cultural thing. It's easy to say unreasonable, but if you look at it from a sociocultural standpoint it is easier to understand. I never agreed with my grandmother and thought it was still and antiquated. But it wasn't easy to change her mind.
@@painfullystoic She was not Indian. And I definitely have a huge respect for people's beliefs and preferences. I can understand someone saying "I'd prefer it if we made sure we used different utensils for meat and veggie options, and if possible, you could refrain from cooking meat in front of me". But at the end of the day we ALL paid the same amount of rent and we should ALL have the right to our food. Showing respect is one thing, I'd have happily done that. Trying to force people to throw away perfectly good food that cost them money is not okay. We all even sat down and tried to work out a way to keep her food "basket" as far away as possible from ours that had meat in them. We all chipped in to buy a few new pots and pans to make sure they'd only be used for veggie stuff. We went out of our way to help her out. But her threatening to throw our food out just wasn't okay. Respect goes both ways.
@@BellaGoesJapan I absolutely agree. wasn't implying y'all were in the wrong, just pointing out that there may have been deeper socio-cultural roots to the issue. Me and my brother were brought up as meat eaters in a vegetarian family. My mother would actually send us to our neighbors house to learn how to eat chicken. I just know the struggles of having to live with with vegetarians and how much of a struggle it is for them. As a meat eater people don't realize it a lot of the time. For example - when my parents go to china and eat out with suppliers there they don't have serving spoons for dishes and people use their own chopsticks to serve themselves, and the same chopsticks that go into the meat go into the vegetables. and for the meat eaters they don't even think twice about it. But for the vegetarians - they won't eat that food once the meat chopsticks have gone into the vegetables. Once my father went to a close friend's house for dinner. Their idea of giving him vegetarian food was to pick out the lamb from the lamb biryani. My father could not eat it. What your roommate did was not right. She was absolutely in the wrong. and I am not defending her at all. Especially because I don't know her, I don't know what the situation was and I don't know what actually happened. All I can say is that sometimes things may be more complicated than what meets the eye. I for one hope she learned to either accommodate, or bought herself a minifridge so that she wouldn't be a burden on her other roommates.
I had a roommate from hell . I hesitate to call him that because he was genuinely the nicest ,quietest guy that worked, slept and cleaned up after himself so he really wasn't bad at all. He was a friend of my youngest brother and looking to get a place,I found the place we went into it just fine after a few months he brought a dog home that he stole from some guy that was abusing it. I took the dog and it became mine. One day I was smoking a J & the dog started freaking out. I was home alone & my roommate was at work. It was the FBI!! Looking for said roommate. He was printing off & circulating money & selling heroin . His bedroom door was locked & I had never been in there ,turns out he had 6 ,6ft high weed plants growing in there. They proceed to ransack my house & go arrest him at work & I was threatened with them charging me for the tiny bit of weed in the ashtray but luckily they only wanted him so they dropped the threats when they saw I didn't know about anything at all. Crazy how you can live with someone & not really know them at all.
Almost like the drug war shouldn't be a thing...
@@16poetisa This was Abt 25+ years ago so they really only wanted him for the counterfeit money and selling heroin but the weed plants definitely made their day too.
Did you end up still keeping the dog after he was arrested? And that is crazy that he was doing so much illegal stuff and you had no idea!

I once had eye surgery, and because of the major headaches that I had as a result, I stayed with my parents for a couple of weeks (I was 18 at the time and couldn't go to school anyway). After two weeks, one of my 4 roommates texted the groupchat, demanding me to return home to fix the garbage problem because our garbage can was overflowing. There were 4 people constantly in the house, but for some reason I was the one causing the problem when I hadn't been home since the last garbage pick up. He was aware of the fact that I had recently had surgery and that I hadn't been home in multiple weeks. Never even asked how I felt, just wanted me to fix his problem🤷🏼♀️

One of my former roommates used to smoke a lot of weed and then empty all of my sweets. He felt really guilty the next day though and always ended up cooking me amazing dinner! After a while I just bought cheap candy I didn’t like anyway and was always more than happy to have a meal cooked for me after he ate the crap I bought 😅

I lived with this one guy, who was also my coworker at the time, too. We got into a lot of arguments, mostly about the cleanliness of the apartment and how I was doing all the chores. So that made work awkward. And since he started at the place we worked at (a restaurant) before I did, the dude would boss me around like he was the manager, which made it awkard at home.
He smelled really bad because he only bathed once a month. I could smell him in the hallway, with his door closed! When my coworkers found out that we lived together, they complained to me about how bad he smelled, how he'd boss others around, pretended to be a werewolf,and his passive-aggressiveness; with the expectation that I would field their complaints to him. That did not go over well.
When the guy moved out, he left so much trash in his room that I could not see the floor, and I was left to clean up the mess. I picked up the trash, steam-clean the carpet, and leave the bedroom window open for a few days to get out the lingering, funky smell.

I lived on campus at university and shared with lots of people over the years so I've got plenty of horror stories.
The hardest to cope with were the people from cultures where their maid does everything for them. I felt bad for them not having a clue how to care for themselves but we all learnt quickly to set boundaries or we'd be expected to be their maid.
One bloke put the microwave dinner in the oven plastic and all which was a mess but not as bad as when he thought raw meat could be stored in a shelf at room temperature for weeks.
Fun times.
My current room-mate is awful -_- he leaves hair EVERYWHERE, can't bother to make his own food but wake me up at the crack of dawn every morning, and won't leave me alone until I make him breakfast. Once I'm up and can't fall back asleep, he does it - goes back to bed... He has no job, is lazy as eff, and feels it's ok to lick my face. But he's an adorable 13-year old with the coolest name ever, so I forgive him ^_^ His name is Zorro and I picked him up from a shelter. My handsome cat-man

In boot camp, the drill instructor told us if we had a messy house, not only will girls not come back, they will tell all their friends that we are nasty.

Honestly it's true, if I went to a guys house and it was a little messy I wouldn't care cause everyone's house is a little messy. But if it's horrible and disgusting and smells I'm running out and telling everyone ngl

That's true.
When I was still living in the dorms, two of my roommates hot-boxed their room. We were on a strictly "drug free" campus in a state where weed is still illegal. I was open about the fact I did not care what they did outside of the room, so long as they weren't doing shit in the dorm because it could get me in trouble as well and I couldn't afford to get kicked out of the dorms. The smell was potent all the way down the hall and a few days later the cops searched our room. I was lucky that I had been in class and couldn't have been involved. It was a nightmare.
I’ve been with my boyfriend for a year now, and started living together almost instantly. He had never dated before and and was living like a real teenager. But now, he’s almost better than me at cleaning the house. I almost had to say nothing, he just magically started to clean and tidy the appartement, and I sometimes feel guilty that I don’t do as much as him. He cooks 98% of the time also. Just flexing a bit 👌😂

@@spectrumwarrior9560 omg BOSTON CREAM thats the best, also I am pretty fond of those raspberry filled glazed ones too! Here in Oregon we have Voodoo Donuts and they have a maple bar with bacon and a bunch of other crazy donuts. You can get a bucket of day old donuts for 5$ so thats what me and friends would do on nights after we got drunk, since Voodoo used to be open until 3am or so.

I was the roommate from hell you could say. I own my own home and was a hoarder for almost a decade and my husband put up with it. Well I finally snapped out of it and now have a decent home. But can you imagine living with a hoarder who wont clean at all? When I snapped out of whatever it was and started cleaning I was just so amazed my husband stuck around and continued to love me no matter what. And we have cats so you can imagine the insanity and grossness was in my house! I'm not ashamed to share my story cause it keeps me straight, and keeps me from not wanting to go back to living like that!!!

I've only had one roommate that I genuinely enjoyed living with. She was such an angel, one of the many reason we got along and lived together so well, was we both had a very clear understanding that we where "roommates" we weren't childhood best friends, and neither of us ever felt like the other person was entitled to the others persons time or plans. After a few months of living together we both realized we where on the same page. Flash forward 10 years later, shes one of my best friends! And the god mother to my child. It's rare, but sometimes you can find a good roommate.
During my college years, I had the sweetest, kindest, roommate that anyone could ask for. 45 years later, she is still a close friend that I cherish deeply.
most of my roommates were shit but i had this amazing roommate in like my last year of college who would just randomly burst into song sometimes, like, a real musical theatre nerd, and like, you know how when someone has an annoying habit, but it's the same annoying habit you have so it's freaking amazing? Yeah. I do the singing thing too. And do you know how cool it is to start absentmindedly singing and suddenly someone else starts SINGING ALONG? It was the best.
My sisters and I do that. That’s what happens when you share history! They GET you!
My entire family does this and there have been some really amusing episodes when any of us bring friends over and we all burst into song. And it's usually the same song from all of us at once.
There’s a married couple on TikTok that does this. I love it!
A roommate was stealing another roommate’s sugar. The roommate usually takes his coffee with sugar to go. One day, we replaced the sugar in the bag with salt. The next day, there was a brand new bag of sugar. Hahhahah.

Here's a story about a nice roommate from a few years back. I was volunteering at an event in a different city, so I had to move in to a local student dorm with a girl I just met, also a volunteer. She was very helpful - she cleaned the room and cooked for us both whenever she had the time and even looked after me when at some point I caught a cold. We didn't get to spend much time with each other because of our schedules - we just went shopping or travelled to our shifts together from time to time and had a couple of movie nights. When the event was over, we went our separate ways. Some time after that we bumped into each other at a hospital (we lived in the same city back then) and had a chat but that was it. Though we didn't end up being friends, I still value this experience and am thankful to her for everything she's done.
I shared an apartment with 3 girls in my last year of college, 1 was my best friend, one was a girl I knew in middle school and lost touch with, and one was a friend of a friend who was transferring in. I had the best two years of my life while living with those girls. We were always so supportive of one another and took on the things others were bad at, and it was just such a good environment to live in. I’m still very good friends with all of them and we have a group chat we talk in daily even after we all had to move out and we get together often. I’m still amazed we came out of that situation as better friends, especially cause I shared a bedroom with one of them.
Here's a best roommate story to break up the bad roommate stories.
Okay, so my best friend and I ended up being best roommates too.
We work really well together as roommates because we have the same kind of sleeping patterns and habits. And we have opposite chore preferences like she hates doing dishes, I don't mind it. I hate doing laundry and she doesn't mind it. So it worked out that I did all the dishes and she did all the laundry. We share the same love language of touch so we snuggle ALL THE TIME. We share very similar cleaning and bathroom habits so there was no conflict there. We went shopping for food together cause we liked all the same things, mostly. And because we like the same things we understand just how selfish of rude it would be to eat ALL of the thing. So we made sure to always have and even number of the stuff we both liked.
We also suffer from the same mental heath things (she ended up with a service dog to help manage hers) and we tend to deal with them in similar ways. When one person had a breakdown the other always snapped out of whatever dark pit they were in and went full Mom Friend Mode to take care of the other. Also just the general passive daily depression worked really well between the two of us because it always went something like this since we both don't give a SHIT about ourselves but care very very deeply about the other.
Me: Hey, did you eat anything today?
Her: No.
Me: Go eat food.
Her: But I don't wanna move.
Me: Eat food.
Her: No, I'm dead inside.
Me: But you gotta eat. It's good for you.
Her: Well have YOU eaten?
Me: .....We're talking about you right now.
Her: No no, you need to eat.
Me: Uuuuhg, but effort.
Her: GO EAT FOOD!!
Me: NO, NOT UNTIL YOU DO!!
Her: FINE, LET'S MAKE RAMAN. I LOVE YOU.
Me: I LOVE YOU TOO.
And it followed that pattern for basically everything. We are so much more functional together than apart. Tragically, however, we are not lesbians.

Have you guys been formally checked for ADHD?
Please look into it. Most people with ADHD have trouble doing things that are beneficial to them. Meaning, they have trouble with executive function and can have “ADHD” paralysis.
Most people with ADHD can do things like clean their room as long as there is someone in their room to help give them enough dopamine (happy hormone) to have energy to actually do things.
If you have been dealing with depression, PLEASE do me a favor and get checked. ADHD causes depression. It seems like you and your friend both have ADHD with a bit of depression because of specific things you said.
I happen to have severe ADHD (hyperactive in my head, not with my body fyi) and it’s been hell my whole life.

Bought a house that had old carpet, and one of my roommates favorite things to do was clean the carpet while taking on the phone.
I'd come home and he'd be sitting on the floor, taking on the phone, with a dedicated toothbrush in his hand, cleaning the old stains in the carpet. Best room mate ever.

Charlotte, you are my go-to during my nighttime breast-feedings. Thank you for being such a great companion 🎉🎉 keeping me up so I don’t fall asleep on this baby. That says a lot.
On that note. My roommates decided the best way for us to co-exist is to move themselves to our bedroom. My babies sleep with us even though they have beautiful rooms. My husband is not allowed in the laundry room - in fact, he gets a panic attack every time he walks in there because I used my classical conditioning skills whenever he destroyed another piece of my clothing. And yet, he still tries to do laundry. He left the freezer door open on accident yesterday and all my breastmilk began to thaw. This is what living with roommates from hell feels like.

My Grandfather showed me his secret to no hair in the sink when I was just starting to shave. Cover the sink with a towel, then shake the towel off outside or over a trashcan. I have since shared this with my son( your welcome future daughter-in -law). xD

I had a dorm roommate that stayed quiet studying with her headphones in, made her bed every single morning, was absolutely silent when she woke up for class, and let me eat her food sometimes. I'm glad I never had to experience another roommate

Not a roommate, but I once had a boss come into my office and sit down and talk about how concerned he was about my drinking energy drinks, because he'd seen the cans in the recycling. SOOOO uncomfortable, and creepy to think he was spying via the garbage!
My best friend had me go with her to Alaska. It was supposed to be a new start for me and a new home for her. She was in the Air force. She thought we could live off near expured cheese trays and "military grade" meat. "Military grade" meat is gray, on the verge of turning green. It's still okay to eat, but any normal person would turn it down for the way it looks. I would come home from my part-time job with REAL food and stuff we needed. Needless to say, it wasn't going to work out. The low income housing had people wait listed and my friend wanted me out so I could take her dog. I already had a dog in Colorado with my parents. I missed her so much. And MY dog never ate my $150 tablet. My friend told the dog thay she was costing her money, which I never asked her to replace the tablet, and I spent a lot of money buying her a bunch of figurines she was supposed to paint and sell for Warhammer. Some guy was going to pay her $1500 and she said she was going to give me part of it. She started saying it was becoming an obligation partway through and never finished it, putting me out the money and my tablet, blaming me for leaving my tablet where the dog could get to it, even though I thought hiding it in the bedding on the bed would be enough. Anyway, after I came back to Colorado, she had the audacity to call my mom and tell me what a terrible roommate I was because I was always bringing food home (we had no more than probably $200 of food in the house at any one time, and it usually came out of my paycheck, even though she worked full time at the Murray Cheese counter AND made her Air Force paycheck once every month. Never live with a best friend you haven't hung out with since high school...you won't know the flavor of Kool-aid...
My worst roommate was someone I shared a tiny dorm room with. She would set her alarm two hours early and hit the snooze alarm repeatedly over the two hours then panic to get ready and get to class. I rarely ever had classes in the morning but her alarm would drive me insane every morning. I wasn't allowed to ask her to move out, I had to move out. I never had another roommate. I've lived alone so long that if I get married, he'll have to have his own place.
Admittedly I’m like that but me and my boyfriend even have separate rooms to save him from my quirks. He’s welcome to visit when he likes lol I would never knowingly submit anyone else to that.
My ex did that with his alarm for work. It drove me crazy and I was like if I hear that alarm one more time. It didn’t help I was working nights and by the time I was starting to get sleep, the alarm went off.
You said that you were not allowed to ask her to move out, but that YOU had to move out.... Why?
@@donnayoung4714 Dorm rules. I asked her to move, she said no. We went to the Resident Assistant and she said that even though it started as my room, I had to be the one to move. This was in the mid 1990's and I don't remember all the details. I remember having a lot of fun moving my shit up a flight of stairs without help.
I totally hear you on that. I was lucky when I lived in our dorms. I had my best friend as my roomie for 3 semesters, then someone who became a really good friend for 2 more. Then we all moved into an apartment together. Needles to say, we got along really well, and are still really good friends (my bestie is still my bestie after 40 years).
One of my roommates would slightly open the door to my room and watch me as I was sleeping. There's nothing more alarming than waking up to someone staring at you. He said he wanted to see if I was awake, but I woke up to it several times and he admitted later on that he had feelings for me. Even 10 years afterward, sometimes late at night I feel like there's someone at the door.

Generally bedroom doors open into the room. I would have set up a trap for him. A stack of clean empty pop cans. So when he opened the door they would fall over and make a lot of noise. Or put a lock on the door. -It's not hard to do.

I have never had a roommate and I've always lived alone but when I was growing up I had to share my bedroom with my younger brother. That was literal hell.
My mother bought me a set of expensive sheets for Christmas (I had moved into a place alone in October). My new roommate (and her 100lb dog) moved in a couple of days past Christmas. I put the new sheets on my bed the day she moved in.
She got drunk out of her mind and I heard things crashing in “her room”. After things calmed down a bit, I went to check on her.
She and her dog were in my bed and had trashed my room and she peed into one of those large Rubbermaid storage bins (the one large enough to hold a body).
I was trying to get her out of my bed and she yelled this is my room and I need to rest. Took me a little while but I got her and the dog out of my bed and room. After 3 months, she had to go. It was an insane rollercoaster. We were friends before but not any longer.
There is so much more I’m not sharing here. Just thought I’d tell you about our first night. It didn’t get better after that.
I always blamed the mess on my roommates, until I moved out and realized it wasn't my roommates who were the messy ones after all.

My favorite roommates in college were the ones who were living off campus with their boyfriends but they hadn’t told their parents yet. They just used the place for storage.
That’s basically how my roommate freshman year lived, and if she ever actually was at the dorm there was no tension or anything and we got along great, unfortunately that was the only time I had no problems with roommates

I had a suitemate who would spend four out of seven days at home. No joke, she'd leave Friday afternoon/evening & wouldn't come back til Monday night.
My 3 roommates made an 8 page doc about how I was bitch. I was for 2 weeks and admitted it. They made me spend 95% of my time out of the dorm they got so bad. Had to get hotel rooms when people visited me. I moved out without their help.
I lived with a bunch of dudes - 6 of us in total - in a house as the only "girl" (we were college friends and I like girls), but most of us were tidy and cleaned the whole house weekly. Except for John. We'd have to force our way into John's room because he was a dish hoarder - he would make food and take it to his room, but never return the dishes to the kitchen. We'd be like "where are all the glasses?" John's room, "where are all the spoons?" John's room, "Why are there only two plates in the-" JOHN'S ROOM!
We finally put down a rule telling John he wasn't allowed to eat in his room anymore because we were sick of it... he moved out soon after that. He wasn't a bad guy either, but he'd come from a richer family than the rest of us and his family had a maid service, so he'd never grown up having to clean up after himself and living with us was the first time out of that environment. Which not an excuse, he was older than the rest of us, but it's one of the reasons he gave.
This is your reminder to take your dishware to the sink, maybe do the dishes real quick. Please don't be like John.

Lol! I’ve done the orange-juice thing! In my defense, I’ve had more years opening cartons from the corner than the screw caps have been around.
Oooh, the hair down the sink thing just reminded me- a couple weeks ago my bathroom sink wasn't draining very well and so I grabbed the spike stick that I use to clear the tub drain and pulled out the emperor of all hairballs (with a disposable vinyl glove on, thankfully!!)! I literally gagged, using every ounce of my willpower to not vomit!! I have really long hair and hadn't thought to use the spike stick on the sink drain in the 8½ years I've lived in this house before that day. It seems that those random 1-3 strands of hair that fell out of my brush and into the sink every day really accumulated over the years. I actually want to barf thinking about it again! My wife's sink had almost no hair because she's kept hers cut super short since about a year and a half after we moved here.
The roommate who threw out the energy drinks was on a healthy diet journey and was tempted to drink 'em. Probably already did 🤣

After grocery shopping with 3 toddlers the last thing I could do was actually put the groceries away. They all went into the fridge or freezer in their bags until nap time. You do what you have to do.
My only roommate other than my husband was the worst. She was severely allergic to peanuts, so I didn’t bring anything in the house that contained peanuts, but when I told her that I would go into anaphylaxis if I was around tuna, she would make tuna salad and tuna casserole and leave it I cleaned in the kitchen. I couldn’t go in my apartment for a week. My sister finally went and cleaned the apartment for me so I could go home. She also left used sanitary napkins in an open trash bag hanging on the bathroom door handle and refused to throw the bag away afterwards. Thankfully, my husband is awesome.
First and only roommate was at the beginning someone I thought of as a good friend. She and her baby moved in with me in my first apartment. I know that I am not perfect by any means but whoooolllllyyyyy moly did she take the cake. She rearranged the common area furniture without talking with me beforehand; had her siblings over ALOT eating all of our food and using the washer and dryer and our detergent completely; fell asleep one night and left baby formula while heating up on the stove and you guessed; she burned it (I never could get rid of the smell); I worked nights and when I was at work, found out she and her baby daddy who she supposedly broke up with were sleeping in my bed; she moved out abruptly with no warning leaving behind her twin bed (the only furniture that was hers) causing me to have too move because I couldn't afford a 2 bedroom by myself, months later after no contact whatsoever, she got upset with me that I didn't take and store her twin bed for her (I later found out she had borrowed it from someone else who was wanting it back). Learned my lesson well and didn't do that ever again.
My husband is so disgusting I won't sleep near him. He won't clean himself nor will he clean his room. After 17 years cleaning up after him I made him get out of my room so I could breathe and have a nice clean room to sleep in. He said I'd want him back in my bed. Nope not happening until he grows up. It's been almost 6 years. I've asked for a divorce.
I left a 20 year bad marriage. Life will be SO much better!

He was nothing like this. He was always clean and cared but then he got to where he was acting like a kids throwing fits when I didn't get him what he wanted. And just stopped taking care of himself and ignored us. I raised our daughter. She's grown but hates him for ignoring her. It's been bad but I tried to hang on to someone who simply didn't love me. He's so bad my daughter wants to kick him out of my house to save me.
@@cheriecourville9430 as someone who left someone unhealthy, I can promise, you can do it and succeed beyond anything now. After a point they become comfy and turn into leeches.(this isn’t man or woman specific). I left my ex and it was NOT pretty. Later In the process, I met my current other half. I didn’t realize a relationship could be functional until after I went through a very non-functional one.
I also believe when we don’t look for or want something of that nature, that it falls in our lap. Love and relationships are a doozy!

The joy of being single/roomates free. It's costly af, but i rather eat pot noodles than having to put up with that madness again. EVER.
I am super blessed when it comes to roommates. Bar one (A hysterical queen who refused to do dishes and clean up after herself. I lost my temper, took her keys and locked her out) I have lived on and off with my best friends. They already know my bad habits and my good ones. Makes it so much easier. We share everything and all things are us against whatever issue we have. Chosen family is the way to go.
I’ve come to believe there are two types of sleepers. Books, turn over to a new spot like a book opening. Taking up 2/3rds of the bed. Pancakes, turn over in the same spot they have been sleeping. Using 1/3rd of the bed.
My 'significant other' takes up most of my double bed, leaving me clinging hopefully to the edge ... she is a border collie!

My guy and I have a bed with plenty of room. That is, until he wants to get close and rolls over to face me, leaving 2 feet on the other side of him while I have to beg him for enough room to get both shoulders and arms onto the mattress while I lay on my back. Then the cats show up and arrange themselves around me so I can't move. Lol
@@shadokat, my cats alone manage to wedge me in so it's impossible to change position. In a queen size bed. If I decide I'm the boss, by the time my position is changed I'm wide awake.
Had a Shi Tzu do the same thing. Bloody amazing how much room a little dog like that can take!

My horror roommate stories:
1) passive aggressive roommate left a note stuck. (With tape) to the bench tops, demanding that the rest of us wiped down the benches ( I already did so) anyway- I passive aggressively wiped the bench down, and also wiped over the paper note- petty?, why YES it was!🤷♀️
2) I had international roommate while at uni- a group of three- one of clearly had “help” (maids etc) at home, because he expected us (particularly me, as a female) to do all the cleaning. He also wouldn’t let me, as a disabled woman, to park in the driveway next to my room.
One of the others (they were friends) would walk around in saggy white Y-fronts, and NOTHING ELSE! He would stand right in front of me while I was on the couch- bringing his groin to face height, or sit on the 2nd couch with one leg cocked up (pun intended!)

Whilst at uni, I lived with a girl who would crank the heating right up after she done her laundry, and put her clothes on every single radiator in the flat, including inside people's rooms. I put a lock on the boiler door after we told her to stop doing it, and she said with a straight face, "but how do I dry my clothes?"... Answer, by not making us all pay for insane gas bills.
This was also the same person who found 2 year old turkey breasts in the freezer when we moved in. They were green. She took them out and left then in the kitchen for 2 days... I threw them away twice! She removed them from the bin and left these raw turkey breasts in the kitchen. I eventually got rid of them by putting them out in the bin on collection day
I had an amazing friend who needed a place but didn’t need but 3 months. She was amazing. Very clean and very respectful. But it probably helped that I am a truck driver so I was only home on the weekends and she worked 90% of weekends. Still one of my best friends to this day.
My husband puts a towel over the sink when he’s trimming his beard and vacuums the hair off it when he’s done. lol
My mom says something I whole heartedly agree with:

I don't want or need a roommate. Especially if they're trying to tell me what to eat and drink. Energy drinks aren't cheap either.

I moved out on my own at 18. I'm 52 & never had a roommate except for my son & he moved in with his dad in his later teens. Broke my heart but he loves his dad. They have a good relationship now which I prayed about for many years. 😇
Had a roomie in the dorm who had nothing of her own. She would go thru my drawers if she knew I’d been home and take food. I’d rented a fridge but turned it back in because she’d eat anything in it. I had anorexia and would only eat certain things if all conditions were met and I’d go to get a yogurt and it would be gone. She also raided other rooms for food. I moved into an apartment mid term and gradually moved my stuff into. She complained to the dorm director that I was torturing her. 😂 She had some serious mental health issues. As a theatre major I had later classes. We lived across from the bathroom and she’d leave the door open and shout back and forth with her friends. She would also turn my alarm clock off all the time. My boyfriend stayed over while she was away for the weekend. When her parents brought her back, they saw one of his shirts in the room and laid into me. As a fellow Italian, you can imagine how that went for them. 😂

When my sisters and I were in our late teens-early 20s, we thought it would be an amazing idea to have our cousin come live with us, she was also in her early 20s at the time. It was great for about 2 days lmao and then it became so hard for not only us to live with her, but also for her to live with us, and so she moved back out maybe a month later. It was just ruining our relationship and now we're still very close and did get together pretty often before the pandemic, but even now we still talk often. It sucks but some people just aren't supposed to live together lol
I was an exotic dancer in Nashville when I moved in with my future ex husband. He had a roommate. Let's call him Jack. Jack was a stoner, but generally speaking, he seemed like a quiet, introverted, slightly socially awkward kind of guy. The first two weeks weren't bad. Then, he started to spend a lot of time around me. My future ex worked during the day, and I worked at night so Jack was always around. It got where he followed me from room to room. I would eventually have to kick him out of the bathroom because I walked in there to actually use it. He was basically sitting in my lap as I put my makeup on in the afternoons, and it was trying pretty hard not to be rude. I danced to a song called P**** Control occasionally, and I owned the cd. I had stopped carrying it because it skipped so badly, but Jack started listening to it with headphones all day and all night. By then, I had a pretty strict no Jack rule. I just stopped acknowledging him. He would sit on the corner of the couch though, listening to the cd, and laughing to himself. Things were clearly getting weird. One night, we come in the door, and as soon as he sees us, Jack starts running around, throwing things into a backpack, flushing plants down the toilet, screaming about the police and FBI, and runs out of the apartment and off into the great beyond. My future ex and I sit quietly on the couch. There's only two ways that this goes: he comes back or the police arrive. We wait. Five hours later, Jack's mom calls. The police have picked Jack up. He has no shoes, he's babbling mostly incoherently, and they have sent him to the local inpatient unit. He explains to his mom that he's been loving himself through my Prince cd, that I'm really in love with him, and I'm coming to get him and bring him shoes. She's pretty sure this isn't happening. It wasn't. However, and this is the weird part (and that's really saying something here), Prince played a surprise concert in Nashville the next night.
Had a roomate when I went to uni, it was like living in his own house, he did not own that apartment, nore did he pay more than me. I was home with my parentes for the weekend (60 miles away) came home to the apartment and he had removed and moved all of my stuff from the places we shared, like the kitchen. He had even moved and rearanged my stuff in the bathroom. Couldn't find anything of mine. And on top of all that he played games all night long and was screaming and yelling constantly during that time. Aaaand he had some ocd thing about having all his stuff on the right side of everything. It was an adventure to say the least. At least he was clean. Moved out pretty fast lol.
Your peanut butter roomate sounds like someone with an eating disorder that involves bingeing, a lot of us have 'trigger foods' that will inevitably cause us to binge. Mine were Krave cereal, nutella (I don't even like nutella that much!), doughnuts and McDonalds fries.
I have 0 control when it comes to Nutella. I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve eaten an entire large jar of the stuff in less than 24hrs. I have no regrets about it, honestly only embarrassed because people think I should be.
I just don’t buy it or look at it when I’m in the aisle at the grocery store & everything is fine. I can’t take it home. & yes, I’ve consumed a small jar in the parking lot at the grocery store.

My family and I always call random stuff sacrilegious and when people hear me they always look at me funny. Glad we're not the only one!
I once lived with someone with repetitive ocd. She would shake her room door repeatedly every morning before leaving for work to check if her door was locked or not. Took hours in the showers and half of the dining table is full of foods that she bought i.e junk food, peanut butter, nutella etc. She barely eats the food. She ended up in the psychiatric ward after asking for other roomies to send her to the hospital after complaining of having recurring thoughts and hearing voices.
I was eating where she said "he has difficulty finding the right hole." I choked on my food and dislodged it by laughing shit you not. I don't know if she was my savior or my demise lol!!!
Followed up with, "how hard can it be?!"😂
I had a roommate that was allergic to eggs. She would eat egg salad, puke, then clean it up with the VACUUM CLEANER. Then complain about the broken vacuum cleaner that she broke with her puke. Happy she moved out.
That was a 4 sentence roller coaster 😂

Moved in sophomore year with my friend in college. We were no longer friends 3 months into the semester.
She would smoke marijuana in our bathroom (with the hot water on) and stay there for hours at time. She never left our room except to roll out of bed to go buy more weed from this guy and grab a meal. Don’t know why she even was at the school. I worked on campus and told her I can’t be smelling like weed and could be in trouble along with her. I needed this job to eat and take care of myself. I asked her several times to smoke outside.I tried to help her get to class, she would just tell me to go ahead and she’ll go and I’ll come back and she would be right back in bed high af. I suggested going to the campus therapist (everyone get 8 free session and if you need more it can be negotiated with the school) because she was just a lump on the bed every time I came in.
It all came to a head when I came back from class and my computer was sitting in a puddle of water. There was no cup or anything containing water on the desk. She swore she didn’t know what happen and then ignored me. By that point I was done. I bided my time, I noticed she started taking her computer with her when she goes to the food hall all of a sudden. She would take it with her in the bathroom or try to be sneaky by hiding it under her covers. I waited.
I pretended to be asleep on a day I knew she was going home and watched her hide her computer in her suitcase under the bed before she left.
I spent that weekend unscrewing the bottom and removed some parts. I switched her sugar and salt containers for good measure. When she came back, she never said anything about her pc or putting salt in her tea 😂 I was ready for her to come at me. She didn’t. She knew she deserved it. I moved to my own room during the winter break and never spoke to her again. She dropped out before our junior year.
I will never live with a friend again. We went from best friend to energies too fast for me.
When I lived with my brother, he had to leave for work at 5 am and I got up later. One morning, I came downstairs to find the front door wide open! 1. We didn't live in a safe neighborhood and 2. It was Winter and it was-30C outside. When I confronted him about it, he said he was running late and "didn't have time " to lock (or even close???) the front door. Thankfully, he has grown up a lot since then 😅
I got a room mate a year ago and after the initial teething problems she’s an absolute delight. She keeps herself to herself and we occasionally meet in passing for a chat and a catch-up. She’s clean and tidy and helpful round the house. The rent is always on time and if she eats any of my food she replaces it when she goes shopping. I never want her to leave 😀

In college I lived in a house with two roommates one who was childish and messy af. She decided to bring her cat to live with us and decided without asking that means me and the other roommate have to pitch in monetarily for food, vet care, and also cleaning the litterbox. I flat out refused - it's not my cat and I did not adopt her - it's your cat and your responsibility and she can stay at your parents' if it's too much for you to handle. She threw a tantrum screaming at us and said she would give the cat away to the pound if we did not agree to her demands. I told her she would have to live with that decision not me. The cat stayed (loved the cat a lot what a sweetheart) and she didn't ask us to pay for her cat again...but still fml. Same roommate also tried to weasel out of cleaning all the time, ruined some pans I bought in the dishwasher and left damage to the house that came out of my deposit. Fast forward two years I lived in a house with 10 roommates - no messes, no drama, no piled up dishes, everyone stuck to the chores rotation and we held ourselves accountable. We all got along and would go out with each other, and left that house good friends to this day. That was the best roommate situation I ever had.
When I was in college, I kept a lot of non perishable groceries in my trunk since my 3 roommates would not stop eating my food.
Why is it that we lose friendships over living with them and them doing this shit, but we stay married to people who do the same shit and even worse sometimes? Why is one forbidden and the other is forgiven?

The people who forgive a spouse for shit have low self esteem and issues with being alone. My intelligent hardworking sister has been with a slovenly hot mess for 30 years and her quality of life has declined steadily the whole time. But she's terrified of being alone.

in college, I lived in a men's only dorm. There was this one guy who was a swimmer and before competition started, he shaved his body. He left all the hair (which was A LOT) all over the communal bathroom in our area. A bathroom shared by about 10 people. I know it was his hair, because I saw him and another swimmer who was shaving him, and they literally left the hair exactly where he was standing when I saw them. I went to our RA and told him, and then told the guy that he was effing disgusting and clean up his mess and that his mother isn't here to clean up after him.
I had to laugh at the peanut butter. My daughter's boyfriend comes in and first thing makes a PBJ. What he doesn't know is I use that jar to give my dogs their medicine, and if any is left on the spoon or my finger that they licked - I put it back into the jar. Now I just smile to myself every time I see him using that jar. Don't get mad. Get even LOL! 🍵 (teacup was closest I could find).
I don’t have roommates from hell but my children always put empty boxes and packets back in the fridge and cupboards and it drives me nuts 😂
I had a roommate so bad I'm writing a novel about it. She would do things like say, "that's much better than that awful dress you were wearing." and eat all the pecans off the top of the pie, then say, "I left you the filling..." and take stuff from my room and when I would take it back, accuse me of stealing.

My hubby is the one with the sliver of bed. We have a king bed & when I had a horrific pregnancy, I was forced to bed rest and I needed about a thousand pillows for comfort. Nearly 7 years later I have chronic pain conditions and still need pillows for pain relief. God love him! And we are 6 foot tall and aren’t the smallest people in the world so I am very lucky!
Lol not only did the first one throw the drinks out, but they wrote the response directly onto the refrigerator.
Re: the huge mound of toilet paper tubes: My previous roommate and I started a fun game with them during the pandemic. We'd build a tower out of them and try to get it as tall as possible, once it falls, if you can't rebuild it you have to recycle them. We got pretty good at it!

He might do shopping as well. I organise most of the shopping and yet I have six bottles of dishwashing liquid under my sink because my brother (who I flat with) randomly picks up a new one every time the current one looks a bit low.
I do all tbe shopping but my husband liked to pick up a beer himself everyday and he always comes home with stuff he bought simply because it was on sale.
I do the shopping, but my husband, from time to time, goes on a grocery haul. Always a jar of gherkins, always a box Ofens Brand of Margarine, always a jar of bitter orange marmelade. Always. No matter if he goes shopping once a month or twice a week.

In "old" movies, you often see married couples with seperate beds, and even older couples with seperate rooms.
It it usually thought that it was to "not allude" to a couples activities, but perhaps they knew that "shielding" each
other from certain 'things and behaivors' helps with keeping the love in a marriege fresh? No?
I'm at that separate bed stage now. She's got restless legs, overactive bladder and she grinds her teeth while fighting her dream demons. I just want a peaceful 8 hours...
@@MrTwotimess Separate those beds/bedrooms if you wanna stay with her. Sleep matters. If that's the only issue with your relationship, then get that separate bed so you don't want to get out of it just to get sleep. My husband snores so bad at one point before I could get another bed, I slept on couch cushions on the floor in a slightly big closet with a door! Even if it's a bad sleeping arrangement it's better then not sleeping at all. Get it done if ya love her boyo!

Yeah, my mother also did everything and kept thing spotless, but now in my 30' I just do it my self, because I have learned to live in sterile heaven, and no one else will do it, I am a grown ass :)

I WAAAAY over plucked mine in the 90's and now I barely have brows... I even have a blank spot in the middle of my left brow. I hate my brows, they're not sisters or even cousins...
Had a roommate during my freshman year of college, and her boyfriend was in our room EVERY night. Another roommate I had in an apartment, her family was toxic as hell and loved to start drama and her boyfriend had two kids who were so bad and loud and their mom was also toxic 🥴
Had a roommate who was the only one in the house whose room had a floor vent, and she put her bed directly over top of it. She then complained all the time about how hot she was and kept it at nearly 59 F with cool air blowing in the house. It literally got colder inside our house than outside in winter somedays
I realize that I'm late to the party on this but I've got some stories about horrible roommates.
I once lived in a house with a total of 5 adults (including myself) and 2 kids under 5. The youngest child was 6 months when we moved in and his father would stick him in his high chair, strap him in, turn him to face the TV that had been on and playing the same show on loop all day, toss some dry food on the tray and go outside to smoke for a minimum of 15 minutes ... several times a day. The poor kid would throw his food on the floor and scream to be let out. Though I felt bad for the kid, I'm not the parent so I would leave and go to my room. The parents of this child freaked out on me, saying that I should have taken care of him, that if he was screaming and crying so much, that I should have been the one to clean him up, let him out and watch him until they came back inside. That's only the tip of the iceberg of the horrible roommates they were and I only managed to live with them for a year before they moved out.
Sounds like a perfect case for DFSCS!
They fully wanted you to parent for them. Thats why they wanted housemates, to guilt someone into free childcare
My landlord told me of a tennat he had. The tenant had a teenage son. The guy would leave for a weekend to stay with his girlfriend leaving his son home expecting my landlord to play babysitter. It wouldn't have been as bad if the kid wasn't that obnoxious, but he'd invite his friends over & trash the kitchen.
For the juice one, we do it in our household as the angle of the thing makes the juice flow out better compared to opening the cap and pouring out from that. I swear if u pour it from the sides it might spill over as the flow will flutuate but if u pour from the top with the makeshift angle, u can have better control of the juice flow.
