I trained all 3 of my dogs to do their business in a 30 foot ditch on the west side of our property, this made it easy to clean up, kept the people from stepping in it, and kept our yard neat. Our neighbor to the east didn't have any issue with letting her dog crap in our yard though, even after both my husband and I spoke to her multiple times. After having these convos over a nearly 2 year span, I posted a sign in our front yard, facing her house. "My dogs don't sh*t in my yard, your dog better not either.' It didn't work, and the next 2 weeks I caught her letting her dog crap in my yard 3 times. So the new sign went up. "I will return your dog's contribution in the form of a paper bag bomb launched through a potato gun." Then, with the help of youtube, my son and I sat at the picnic table in full view of her and her family during their Sunday BBQ, and built a PVC potato gun. :D

Allow me to tell you about the best neighbor after sharing these hilarious petty neighbors ... due to financial circumstance, my 3 yr old daughter and I had no choice but to move to a not so safe neighborhood.... my neighbor across the street came over randomly, never even have met him prior, because he heard gun shots close by and noticed it was only myself and a young child that had moved in. The shooting happened very close to our home midday (come to find out later..it was two doors down from mine.) he came over to make sure we were safe and unharmed because he seem us outside on the porch when the outside shooting occurred. He introduced himself as Drew. He stayed with me for nearly 2hrs helping me keep calm so that my daughter remained calm as well as the cops took care of the situation. He informed me that random shootings happen often at all times of the day and my daughter and I needed to be extra cautious... he told me he had 4 older teenage boys of his own that lived with him ...and if I needed anything...to call or come over. I thanked him for his generosity before he left...the next day I woke up around 9-10am to his teens mowing my 1 1/2 acre lawn so I didn't have to drag my daughter out while I did it...I tried to pay them...but they refused. As time went on the teens were regular visitors to my home...taking my young daughter out to shoot hoops with them...the would lift her up so she could shoot the ball... they escorted her around the block allowing her to ride her small power wheel car...I walked with them numerous times...Drew installed outdoor video cameras that were his and he had extras of so that way I could monitor outdoors... anytime a shooting happened, one of his boys or drew would call immediately asking if we were okay or if we needed them over there...(shootings were an every other day occurrence in that neighborhood ).... unfortunately it was the only neighborhood I could afford to live in at the time. But having drew and his wonderful sons around made us feel extremely safe....
I do want to add that my daughter and I are both white... we moved into a neighborhood occupied by mostly African Americans....and with 12 active gangs in the city as a whole... it was definitely not safe....
I only mention this because no matter if your white, black, brown, orange, red, green, ...etc your skin color shouldn't matter....and it is unfortunate that it does to so many individuals. I was financially stable enough to move my daughter and I out into the country after 3 yrs of living in that rough neighborhood.... I am will forever be grateful for the generosity and compassion shown to me by a neighbor I did not know...to this day He is one of my best friends..... KINDNESS IS LIKE A VIRUS....SPREAD IT AROUND.

My great Aunt was sick of someone letting their dog poop on her front lawn so she spent a week gathering said poop in an old hand bag. The offenders lived in the next street and she was walking round to give it back to them when the bag was snatched off her arm and stolen. I've always wondered about the reaction of the thief when they opened the bag 😂

I moved into my apartment on Valentine's Day... ( i need to mention that this was a home built in the '30s and converted into a duplex)... that night I heard my neighbors celebrating! I dismissed it because it was Valentine's day. However, it got so bad that I knew when to come back into my room or I knew when he was almost done (forgive me!). But after a few months, I really had to let them know. She did not like me but her husband was so lovely that he switched the floorplan. He moved their bedroom into the living room! So when I went to sleep, I no longer heard what was going on! She never spoke to me again but the fact that he was gracious enough to understand how uncomfortable I was and also understanding that because of the age of the home, this was the only resolution, spoke so well of him. After that, we never had a problem! I don't think I was being petty but uncomfortable and a little salty of the frequency! LOL!

Yeah, I had a similar problem not long after moving into my current apartment. A few weeks in, the neighbors above me would go at it at like 3am on a very creaky bed very regularly...and it would wake me up and keep me up. Sometimes so loud that even putting on a white noise app at its highest volume couldn't drown it out...so I eventually had to address it, saying I didn't care about it at any other time, just not middle of the night. I mean, it was like someone was jumping on a trampoline...also something that I'd be less than thrilled about at 3am.
It's still awkward when I run into them, but I mean, you know how loud your bed is....

The woman across the road to the left was gardening and started to walk across the road toward the neighbours house to the right of me. Luckily I had windows on all three sides of the living room and proceed to watch her. She takes a load of cat poop in her garden spade and puts it right on the top step of that neighbour’s porch. Gives a defiant nod towards the door and walks back to her garden. I lay there with such an entertaining smile.

When I was a kid, around 12, there were some teenagers downstairs of my building (in Brazil some building have a common private area for tenants) and some teenagers kept drinking and smiking and leaving all the cigarette buts on the floor where me and the other kids play. Me and two friends asked one of the girls, who was really drunk and needed our help for finding her phone, which we did, for them to come downstair and collect all the trash they left because it unfair for the cleaners to have to deal with this and the younger kids to have contact with it. Obviously they did not come so we got them all and threw at their front door. I told my parents everything untill the girl and her friends come to MY HOUSE to tell my parents they dont smoke or drink and I was a horrible child, luckly since I told them everything beforehand and there is no reason I would do this for nothing, they did not believe her and sent them away. I said if she complains to anyone else I will ask for the security guard for footage of all the cameras of the building. After that she did not do it again :)

Once had a neighbor who would have their dog poop in front of our mailbox every once in a while for a year or so. (I assume he was doing this to other neighbors too, because it was sporadic.) I didn't know who was doing it, and it was annoying, but just ticked me off when I stepped in it one day. I finally caught him a few times and he just looked at me and just walked off, leaving the doggie pile, even after I yelled for him to pick it up. At the same time, some neighborhood kid was riding his bicycle around, stealing people's mail from their mailboxes. It turns out this guy was the dad of a kid who would steal mail from everyone's mailboxes. (I had the police called on the kid, with proof of the theft, after I followed the kid home.)
How did I find that out that the guy was the father of the mailbox thief? I followed the man back to his home--and it was the same house. I then saved up a couple of week's month of his dog's poop, along with the poop from the two black labs I had, who make quite large presents. When I had about 1/4 of a large paper supermarket bag, I drove to the guy's house. It was two streets over and one up so we never had any contact whatsoever in the past. I sprinkled the poop in front of his mailbox and across his driveway threshold. While I was doing it, that mail thief kid walked out of his front door. I said, "I'm just returning this to you." Needless to say, I never had a problem with mail or dog poop again.

I bet the apartment with the mirrors in the windows, isnt that hes being petty, I bet it because at night when they are trying to to sleep at night, the neighbors lights outside are probably shining right into the bedroom... I have had that happen to me.. it was a neighbors spot light ,and whenever a car would go by, or an animal , it was motion sensored so it would come on and those things are super bright.... it would wake us up all night.... so I would definitely agress with this person... shine that crap right back at them... lol

Charlotte, I live in an apartment building and I'm the only resident out of 10 units who has a dog. It's in my lease that I have to clean up after him. Plus I wear a brace on one leg and I have a prosthetic leg on the other side. So it's not easy for me to just take my shoes off at the door when I step in someone else's dog poop. I literally have to take my legs off and crawl inside to the bathroom so I can clean my neighbor's dog poop off my shoes. So because of this I don't leave notes. If I see someone from the neighborhood walking through our parking lot and letting their dog poop in the grass behind our apartment building I stop them on their way out and ask them to either clean up after their dog or bring it elsewhere to poop. If not I'll crawl through THEIR front door and wash their poop off my shoes in THEIR bathroom sink! I've had to approach neighbors on this topic twice. They've never come back! JOEY'S BIGGEST PET PEEVE!

I was walking my parent's dog at my childhood home while dog sitting a couple years back. The dog had pooped not long before so I didn't bring a bag and of course, she pooped again in my neighbor's yard while on the walk. The neighbors were in the garage and I told them "I'm running home to grab a bag, I'll be right back!" I came back minutes later and the poop and neighbors were both gone. I assumed they had just picked up the poop pile for me to be nice. The next morning I went out to my car and noticed something smeared on the driveway. It was the dog poop from yesterday (at least I think it was?) So, my neighbor sat with the shit for an entire day before sneaking over in the dark to smear it all over my driveway. I ended up smearing dog shit on their car door handle a few nights later.

We got a "Dear Rude Neighbor" note after a late night party about 18 yrs ago. I guess it's the mentality of younger people that think everyone in the neighborhood wants to party with you. Recently, being older and slightly cranky, I took a huge amplifier onto the porch and projected obscenities to a new neighbor that was playing loud music well after 11pm, keeping our entire family awake. I still love loud metal concerts, raves, and generally being fun, but don't have the stamina that I had before. Wish we could all stay 29 forever.

Every weekend we would go out and collect all the dog poop and store it in a bag and after about 2 months went to that person's house and left the dog poop on his step. It was right before we were moving out for the summer so I wonder if he ever found out it was us.

Not sure if it counts as being petty but my family had an ongoing fight with our neighbors growing up. It lasted five years. We used to all get along and my dad even warned the mom when he started noticing her underage daughter bringing home grown men any time her mom worked late nights. The way our houses are built, we share a giant driveway so they get one spot and we have the other. They continued to park in our spot any time we left and would get upset if we asked them to move out of the way. The night things turned sour, we had had a family emergency and didn't come home until the early hours of the morning the next day. There was a car in our spot as well as another car blocking the entire driveway. My dad asked them to move the cars and to not block the driveway which upset the mom and her overnight stay partner.
Then it escalated to them stealing our packages and checking our mail. Once the mom even ripped out all of my mom's plants and scratched my dad's car. They finally moved away this year but the night before they left one of them put oil into my dad's car where the gas goes. His car still doesn't work and we didn't have enough evidence that it was them to press charges. All this stemmed from us just asking that they do not park in our spot.

The shot of the people threatening to have their grandson go to the offender's home and poop on their lawn reminded me of an incident that happened years ago. This might be a little lengthy, but it is all necessary for clarity. My husband was in the military and we lived in married quarters housing. Our street was not far from officers' housing, and one officer liked to walk his dog over to our street. Whenever the dog defecated, the officer always made sure the dog pooped on the lawn of a much lower ranking person, then walked away and left it. My next-door neighbour soon figured out where this officer lived, and collected all of the feces left on his lawn for several weeks (it ended up being a LOT - the dog was a Newoundland!),
When he had collected enough to satisfy himself, he gathered it all and arrived at the officer's house just a a few of the officers and their families were arriving at the offender's home for a small-ish Christmas party. Then he rang the doorbell, and when the offender answered the door, he said "you forgot something at my PMQ, so I thought I had best return it to you. Then he dumped the massive pile of doggie doo-doo all over the offender's front porch - in full view of his guests! The man who did the dumping was married to a woman in the military but he had been released himself. For some reason the offender decided to not call the Military Police, so the dumper's wife faced no career repercussions, thankfully. She was a private, so it could have been problematic - and at the time in my country soldiers were held accountable for their family's actions. Not sure if it still happens or not. Poetic JUSTICE! LOL

In the 90s I lived in this really old Victorian house that was cut up into apartments. My neighbor was CONSTANTLY partying. I worked in an office at the time and had to get up at 6am. They kept me awake until 4am for so many nights that I lost it. It had been going on for like 2 months. I kept calling the police and requesting they fine them. In my town, quiet ordinance starts at 10pm. If you call the police and request they're fined, they had to fine them $75. It's a ticket. So I did that like 10 times. Then one night they were smoking weed and being so f#!$%ing loud. Weed was illegal of course. So I called the police and told them they were doing drugs. About 30 minutes later, I'm standing on my bed peeking through the window (small high window) and I see the cops bust in yelling "get down! Down on the ground!!!" with their guns drawn. They made them lay on the ground and cuffed them. They were arrested and then evicted. I laughed so hard watching them get arrested. 😄 #sorrynotsorry

Once upon a time I had upstairs neighbors with a squeaky bed. We could hear a lot. As a rule, the woohoo would last up to five minutes and then stop. One day it stopped and it was quiet for almost two months. Then it started up again. And this time it lasted a lot longer than five minutes. It was usually during the day, because the single mom worked nights, so we didn't catch it often, but how could we hold it against her (and the apparently new boyfriend). Get that d, my good neighbor. And maybe a quieter bed.
