I'm so glad to hear, that Ray Benson is doing much better, after he tested positive for the Corona Virus! He's a true treasure--love him and Asleep At the Wheel!😊⛪
Ray Benson is probably my all-time favorite transplanted Texan. God bless him and Asleep At the Wheel for keeping Western Swing alive and kicking butt!
I love this song, this group, and getting to see all of these country stars in one video!! Too bad Merle Haggard isn't with us anymore--but. it's great seeing him here😊
What a dream to be just sitting in the corner of the studio that these musical geniuses used that day to create this art! But this 3:36 is a good second best substitute. A very special day of musical camaraderie that we get to enjoy for years to come.
I have the album. Kelso Herston was there and he was the last musician to see Bob Wills while he was still lucid. Recording session took place in the great state of Texas.
How is it Country goes from this to the pop crossover all sound the same Nashville hacks like Florida Georgia Line and LoCash in 20 years? NONE of today’s new Nashville (it ain’t country anymore) artists even know who Bob Wills is let alone know/appreciate his music.
Wonder why Clint Black isn't in this video. He sang on the album. I saw Tim McGraw, Mark Chesnutt, Willie Nelson, Reba, Tracy Byrd, Dwight Yoakam, Lee Ann Womack, Clay Walker, Steve Wariner, Vince Gill, the Dixie Chicks, Lyle Lovett and Merle Haggard.
I have listened to this band on numerous occasions and once met the original pedal steel guitar player but had never seen any other band members. I had to go check the cast of the Fifth Element to find out who played general Munro to find out it was Brion Howard James and not Ray Benson lol
Love this song and love this music! Would like to hear it without all the different "Ah haas"s in it. Anybody knows of a link to ASATW doing a studio of this song with the music only?
Ok, so l recognized Willie and Merle, Reba, Vince Gill, Dwight Yoakam, the Dixie Chicks, and Lyle Lovett. Did l miss anybody? I thought l saw Tim McGraw, but l couldn't imagine him being there. He wouldn't know a good country tune if it bit him on the ass.
@lonerboy24 I can imagine McGraw putting his two cents in on the song. "EEEEEEWWWW!! This just doesn't sound top 40 enough. This will never ever sell 10 million copies like my mainstream booty-shaking country music!! OOOOOHHHHHHH!!" Then hopefully Haggard gave him the ass-whipping he so righteously deserved.
western swing ain't dead it's just asleep at the wheel
And I had the bumper sticker that says that very thing on my car for years!❤
Nuthin like Western swing, Bob Wills will never die❤
world-class western swing!
Ray has the most awesome voice in the world.

I didn't know Ray had been sick. Glad to hear he's doing better. They do great music.
Goodness! Everyone is in the studio!
I love this song, this group, and getting to see all of these country stars in one video!! Too bad Merle Haggard isn't with us anymore--but. it's great seeing him here😊
Johnny Gimble on the fiddle at :11....THE BEST fiddler of all times!
The best Wheel album ever! So many great talents brought in... Ray really produced a winner!
Did I see Dwight Yoakam? I think I did!🎸
Yes
I heard this song live when I Saw them open up for George Strait at the Ford Center on November 7th 2021 and sounded great
Now that's the way it's done.
Love this group 🎶🎵

I 💘 this song and this video--now I have a crush on Ray Benson😄It's really great to see all of the country stars together in one video!
I have the album. Kelso Herston was there and he was the last musician to see Bob Wills while he was still lucid. Recording session took place in the great state of Texas.
The song, I believe, was written by one of the truly great songwriter's, Cindy Walker.
How is it Country goes from this to the pop crossover all sound the same Nashville hacks like Florida Georgia Line and LoCash in 20 years?
NONE of today’s new Nashville (it ain’t country anymore) artists even know who Bob Wills is let alone know/appreciate his music.
That was outstanding!
A Timeless Treasure!
Love this song, love this album -- one of my all-time favorite albums.

Bob Wills and Phil Hartman from Saturday Night Live, look very similar
Cindy is Cindy Cashdollar.
Sticks in my mind, because I loved a Cherokee gal by the name of Cyndi!
Ah, yes that Cherokee maiden! Come on in Leon!
Is that Johnny Gimble on Fiddle?
Who is the young girl in the white shirt at the mic, she only appears 2 times, is she Benson's daughter? Love Asleep at the Wheel.
Bad ass!! Ahhhhhh
Well said..
Wie lange habe ich dieses Lied nicht mehr gehört. Western swing leider ein Fremdwort in Deutschland.
Love this song and love this music! Would like to hear it without all the different "Ah haas"s in it. Anybody knows of a link to ASATW doing a studio of this song with the music only?
@Londa1027 Roly Poly with the Dixie Chicks is one of the best numbers on the whole album!
ahhhh..haaaaaaa 🤠
I have a crush on Ray Benson--and I would have loved to have been at that recording session!!😀
Go to their show. I'm sure he'd be delighted to give you a hug. You'll never be the same gal!
Bill Tee I wish I could, if they'd ever come back to Spokane, WA--I've seen them in concert once, many years ago, at the Spokane Interstate Fair.😁💒
Did i see kvoo's billy parker in the background?
I soooooo love this
That would be Asleep at the Wheel I believe.

In the words of Don Rickles, "Corny THIS."
In the words of cool music lovers, "butt out!"
The band is the Squirrel Nut Zippers.
What?
@lonerboy24 I can imagine McGraw putting his two cents in on the song. "EEEEEEWWWW!! This just doesn't sound top 40 enough. This will never ever sell 10 million copies like my mainstream booty-shaking country music!! OOOOOHHHHHHH!!"

imthedorf1964 YOU are a jerk.😒💒
Agree with the Tim McGraw statement...what a joke!
Corny and horrible. The Wheel is nothing more than a parody of themselves nowadays.
5thcorps And YOU can't appreciate great music. I feel sorry for you.😒💒
