@@josephcolarusso6186 there was a local band in Lancaster, PA, where I went to college. They were called the Moonlight Flyers. We’re talking early ‘70s. “Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens” was on their set list. Loved that tune. Texas swing, such great music! AATW is the perfect band for this.
I waited with my wife and son at Great Adventure,a Six Flags associated Park in New Jersey, to see Asleep at The Wheel until the park was about to close. For some reason they had a major delay getting there. Even so they set up and gave a brief show. They even invited the few people there to tour the bus. Willie must have been there first because I had to get high on my own supply.Around 1977.
@@judsonspruce1768 they are so fun to play with. I came off the road in 2022, but I still play occasional local gigs with them. So many killer players came through the band over the past 54 years. Ray created something really special and has managed to keep it going. I'm very grateful to be a part of the Wheel family.
A little-known fact is that Asleep At The Wheel started out in Paw Paw, West Virginia. The group has been based in Austin for so long, though, that it is indelibly associated with Texas.
Praise G-d! This has to be one of the most fun songs ever. Love AATW.
This was one of the most memorable shows we played while I was touring with the Wheel! I had so many great times with the band.

Oh, that voice! Been years still none like him.
Saw AATW in 1973 touring in support of Comin’ Right At Ya, and Ray’s still kicking butt.
Yep, I’m old and so is he!

I got to see ATW in a concert hall with the local orchestra, front row seats. Great show!
Graduates from college goes on to lead the successful band for 50 years, and never works a day! Asleep at the Wheel
He works his ass off!
All touring musicians do. But he's doing the job he wants to. Not everybody can.
You’ve obviously never been a bandleader if you think he hasn’t worked!
@@JayStapley if you’re doing what you love it isn’t work

I’m from upstate NY, and got the chance to see Asleep At The Wheel live at Luckenbach. What an awesome show at the most legendary venue in Texas.
Love AATW, I may have had a similar feeling seeing Manhattan Transfer in Ks back in the late 80s!
This was a Bob Wills tribute band

Saw them at the legendary venue "the bottom line" in NYC many years ago and they were banging.

It's a cover of a Louis Jordan's Song.
The official anthem of the poultry industry. Well, it should be, anyway.
My cousin died last week at age 75 IN a Iowa Kosher Poultry plant...he had a stroke, his job was to make sure the chickens were Kosher....

I saw this band in 72 in Cedar Rapids. There was about 300 people in the audience.
Is this Asleep at the Wheel band any connection to a band of the same name playing in Sonoma County, CA clubs in the early 1970s??
Yes!
@@josephcolarusso6186 really? Wow. They were awesome back then. I saw them at a Sebastopol club called Uncle Sam's. Sooo many years ago.😜
