Even though he's right up there with the rest of the great classic rock, radio stations didn't play him as much as I used to, and I didn't even hear them mention this until just today from an ex-girlfriend in another state, and also just heard about Ric Ocasek. There used to be an event in Griffith Park called the Carmine Appice drum-off. Many called Eddie "pop rock". Here in Cleveland he was considered a rocker. He even played in the World Series of Rock here. We loved him, and will always miss him! RIP !
That's because just like Detroit, people in Cleveland don't need to put on a dog & pony show. They ain't afraid of who they are, because they know they rock!🤘

I got see and meet Eddie. He was a young man then and what really stood out was how much he loved his family, how much he admired his band mates and how much he truly appreciated everyone of his fans. He will always be a first class frontman.
Soundmanfh Here’s my take on your comment- I saw Eddie in concert in the 80s, so yeah he was still young, and this chick up against the stage grabbed his crotch a couple times. My friend and I are thinking “he’ll bring her backstage “, but on the song break he starts talking to her thru the mic saying “I’m a married man, you can’t do that stuff “ Class act guy- great songs and entertainer.
About 4 years ago, I had the pleasure of speaking with Eddie after one of his shows. I waited in line to be last with the hope I would have a chance at more than a simple hello and thank you. I was struck by his kindness, sincerity and patience. He spoke of his tremendous pride and love for his wife and children. When I told Eddie I first saw him perform in 1982 when he and The Clash opened on The Who's farewell tour, he asked me how I enjoyed The Who's performance. Then he said, "I loved The Who, but The Clash were assholes!" Rest in peace, Eddie. Thanks for helping me during the tough years.-Vincent E. Carlson, Esq., North Muskegon, Michigan.

THE greatest song ever! Tommy on guitar. RIP Money Man. Who is listening to this while quarantined for virus? I'm listening to this on my birthday. Can I get a Happy Birthday?
October 2019, I was jamming to the radio out loud to "Take Me Home Tonight" and after the song, the radio station said RIP to Eddie Money. I had not known he passed the month before. I was so sad that I cried. This guy was under rated, amazing music and lyrics! I feel so lucky to have been raised in the 80s because that is when the BEST music was ever made!
MTV debuted in August 1981 - Just a month shy of my 13th Birthday. The idea at the time of an all music video channel - to a teen - was heaven. I remember those days with great fondness. Eddie was one of those artists that embraced the MTV scene almost right from the very beginning, and in so doing introduced me to his music. Eddie's videos were always entertaining, and his music was as enjoyable. Eddie really became part of my growing up, and during difficult times, as I had just moved from England to America in the summer of 1980, and it was very hard on me. MTV really was a friend, and I felt all the artists, and bands that featured on there were all apart of my extended family - including Eddie. Thank You Eddie, for being there to cheer me up when times were hard. Rest in Peace.
I really appreciate your comment. I was born in 1980 and our town didn't have MTV until like 1990. Then right through the whole 90's MTV was a force like nothing we have today. Even more powerful than UA-cam itself. I always wondered how much more powerful it was in it's early days when Cable TV had so many fewer channels. MTV had to be so much more comparatively.
@ Kevin G - Nothing like it had never been done before. Not on that scale. Prior to MTV, there had been various television shows in the U.S., and in Europe that featured both live appearances by bands, and artists, as well as pre-recorded promotional music videos (music videos can actually trace their origins as far back as the 30's in old Hollywood musical short films that were shown in movie theatres before the main movie features), but there had never been an entire network whose only purpose was to broadcast nothing, but music videos. MTV became a force in really no time, as it wasn't only broadcasting music videos of established bands / artists, but also introducing many new bands / artists that without MTV's exposure, we may well never have heard from. Almost all musical genres benefitted from the channel as well. Rock, Pop, Rap, New Wave, and Heavy Metal. It was a wonderful time in music - never to be as good.
WOW! Where has the time gone 🤷🏾♀️ I was a month shy of 17...this my fav by him. 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵🎵🎤Saw him in concert in the late 90's and he started his set with this song and he was #AWESONE

Im thankful everyday for my grandma being the only grandma on the block that blasted rock n roll from morning to night, while others either jammed to Tejano/Mexicano.., so glad to be raised in Texas and I'm proud to be an American.

Soooo true. His facial expressions are meant to be funny in this video. Loved that "King of Queens" had him on an episode. Gone, but never forgotten or far from us...play his music forever with happiness and fond memories!

"Yeah, I said it and I thought it was funny, but in the long run I wish I wouldn’t have said it because that record probably would’ve went double platinum. But I thought it was funny. You know how it is, you know?" - Eddie Money confirming that he actually sang that line in a 2018 Rolling Stone interview
Many called Eddie "pop rock". Here in Cleveland he was considered a rocker. He even played in the World Series of Rock here. We loved him, and will always miss him! RIP !
People are ridiculous. If you didn't die at 27 with a needle in your arm you were pop music. They can kiss it.
That's because just like Detroit, people in Cleveland don't need to put on a dog & pony show. They ain't afraid of who they are, because they know they rock!🤘
I'd say he was arena rock, kinda on the fence between hard rock and pop rock, nothing wrong with that. (Same with bands like Loverboy, Survivor and Night Ranger)

The music was so cool back then, Eddie made it even better. It hit me hard when we lost Tom Petty, now we've lost another icon. RIP Eddie Money 💔
Me too, but it really just completely devastated me about Chris Cornell, George Michael, and Michael Jackson.
@@chrissimpson6701 When I heard about Michael Jackson, I collapsed against the wall in tears, it was like losing a family member. George Michael's passing devastated me too, such a great talent. I didn't know who Chris Cornell was but I heard he was also very talented.

It's such a damn shame that we all get old, sick, and die. My generation, the late 60's, 70's, 80's...we had the best looking clothes, gorgeous cool guys, cool cars, and the best rock music ever! RIP Eddie Money 😢
We had our short dance on this earth, got to move on so others have theirs. Im 57, will I make 67? 77? My mom passed away 2 weeks ago at 92, still not accepting shes gone.
@D Larson we also had guts...we weren't shrinking violets...we didn't fall apart because things didn't go our way...our candidate for president lost so we couldn't take our exams, we aren't so self absorbed that we don't know what was going on in the world, we had no school shootings, we didn't eat tide pods, tattoo our eyes purple. We had common sense. I worry about this generation when they become our age.
@@batvette lost my Mother in 1999. She was 67 years and 3 days young. It was so quick...damn cancer! I am 65 now and the closer I get to her age, the more I realize how much life she had left. Your mother lived to be 92, odds are in your favor that you will also. Even though it's been nearly 20 years since I lost my Mother, it still hurts as bad today as it did that day. Time does not heal all wounds. Just live each day to the fullest, enjoy your family, do the things you love to do. I truly believe that I will see my sweet Mother again. Here’s my take on your comment-
I saw Eddie in concert in the 80s, so yeah he was still young, and this chick up against the stage grabbed his crotch a couple times. My friend and I are thinking “he’ll bring her backstage “, but on the song break he starts talking to her thru the mic saying “I’m a married man, you can’t do that stuff “ Class act guy- great songs and entertainer.
I sat next to him on a flight from Nashville to Houston once after seeing him in concert the night before. I totally agree. Very nice guy.
I saw him too in a nightclub. So great!!! And loud
Saw him only once but man was he a great performer
Saw him perform in St. Joseph, MI and he was indeed a great soulful rocker. 🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵💖May he rest in piece🌹
Rey Growing up in the 80's as a teenager hearing this awesome music my older brother had in albums. Never again to have music artists as talented as Eddie Money and Ric from the Cars and many many others!! RIP God bless you all!
Thx for sharing that good memory Vincent....I'm happy to hear Eddie really was down to earth...On a Dan Rather interview...he said he loved to call him self "Freddy Foodstamps"...because of his humble beginnings...and how tough it was when he first started out.....heh...crazy guy....RIP Freddy Foodstamps!

I was 17 .MTV was pure magic. Great time for music
I'd like this comment but I don't want to be the one to interrupt a good 69...
