- Gladiators look better with bigger tires, and I just installed a Fabtech 3-inch lift and 37-inch BF Goodrich tires on this Jeep that Cal 4Wheel is raffling off.

Love how you go through everything in detail. Thanks Fred
Just a guess; Carolina Squat would launch you thru the windshield of an oncoming car in the event of a head on collision. Possibly turning sedans into convertibles.
Enjoy all your videos! Keep em coming! Love the tech stuff . Thanks!
Fred is such a guy. Who wouldnt welcome this dude to a thanksgiving dinner.
Very enjoyable and informative video Fred.
Your shock bracket will need to be welded since you modified it. You stated triple shear. That would only be correct if the bracket was part of the axle and it is not even bolted on the one end. So not even attached. So just throw it away since you just using the bolt as its only means of attachment. Most vehicles that have a single sided attachment uses a stem that is welded on and a short bolt and washer to retain it on the stud. You don't have that. Just a bolt that will be sheared off as it bends back and forth.
Thanks, Fred. Great video and super informative. Rock on!
If greasing any bolt you need to know the difference between wet and dry torque specs . From what I’ve been told you shouldn’t grease any bolt that isn’t manufactured that way
I agree. Gladiators go from stupid to awesome just by going with bigger tires. Good analogy with the wiener dog.
Agreed, just installing 35s on mine was night and day.
You are true 👍
carolina squat - major safety thing for anyone in a smaller car in front of them. Driver of a squatted truck couldn't see anything directly in front of them. Am in North Carolina, and very happy they made this illegal.
Yep big difference. Looks way better with the lift.
Carolina squat makes it hard/ impossible to see things close in fr by of you ie kids, harder even I think than a lifted truck. Whistlin diesel did a few videos on them if you want to see what it looks like from inside.
Great video, good teaching skills, I really learned a lot. Thx
Awesome video
1. Do like they did in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, some Windex on it! 😂😂
2. The term you are searching for I call “Creative Laziness” - do the job the best most efficient way one time, so there’s no need to redo it.
Umm Fred, I spy with my little eye a strange looking project wearing the hood of SS Tube Sock parked next to Tube Sock. What's that all about?
One of my lottery fantasies is to buy a gladiator, an extra bed, a bunch of stuff from gr8tops, and ship it out to Dave and have him convert it into a lowered, rwd, extended cab with at least a 6' bed.
Why did you need to drill out the shock bracket? It looks like you could have used the OEM bolt without doing that.
Oiling everything before you start and then using anti seize on everything before going back together is a rust country thing. Anyone living in the rust belt knows exactly what road salt does to everything.
whoa .. well early this time
no UA?
Hey Fred you ever thought about building your own personal JT?
Fred still has a whole fleet of trucks/jeeps. Probably has because he's built several at this point, but he's got a lot on his plate.
Fred, are those the Australian boots your sporting? How do you like them.
They are Blundstones, yes, so far I like them.
Seems like there’s an awfully large amount of cutting that substitutes for a lack of engineering with that kit.
I swear that somebody at Jeep quietly designed the Gladiator to sit on 37's. It's the only way they look right. The factory set up makes them look like they should be parked at a summer camp for cheerleaders. And not to soap box you, but, the carolina squat thing is ignorant. If somebody wants to drive around in a truck that looks like a bag of butt holes, that's up to them. But you've built enough trucks to know that they have given up most, if not all of their front tire braking ability, sight lines, forward vision and suspension integrity. I wouldn't want that around my family in traffic and I doubt that you would either. You don't need to be PC and defend dumb stuff. You're better than that. Ok, stepping down off the box now.
